So I think it's time to stop pretending Fox News is anything but the Black Rifle Coffee of right wing news. They're happy to take our money, but in reality they don't share our values. And this isn't just about Carlson. That's just the latest sign. They've been slipping for years, but in all honesty we should have abandoned them after their shameful coverage of the 2020 election, where they called a close race in Arizona early but refused to call Florida even when it would have taken a miracle for Biden to win. The people who run Fox are more interested in currying favor with the left wing establishment that hates them instead of actually standing with the people who have made them the highest rated cable news network for years. It's beyond time to abandon Fox and look for alternatives. What those alternatives are, I'll leave up to you guys to decide for yourselves. But don't jump into a camp and then refuse to examine its faults. Even conservative media is still media. And the media is still the enemy of the people.
Understand I am fully on the side of the writers and actors and I hope they get everything they ask for
But is anyone else actually relieved about the delay?
Just a little?
Because there is so much out there to watch
So many shows and so many movies and they are all coming so fast and like when I was a teenager and even in my early twenties when there wasn't streaming there wasn't this rush to consume!
Shows came out once a week with long breaks. Like you would never have anything new over the summer
And that was okay
And even when the new stuff aired it was understood that if something aired at the same time as your favourite show you wouldn't watch it until it reaches syndication
You didn't binge watch a show in a few days and then binge watch another new show right after
There wasn't an expectation that you keep up on all the hot new media
Sequels took fucking years to make
It is rare I watch new media now and a lot of the time I get 3 episodes in and I have a panic attack and can't finish the series
There is too much too fast and it's discarded too soon and too often the end product feels rushed as well (I'm looking at you star wars new trilogy)
I feel like I can't fucking breathe when I think of watching anything new
Plus now if you don't watch it immediately it gets canceled and ripped off the service forever
I want new media
But goddamnit I want it slower
Does that just make me old?
Idk
I just want people making films and TV shows to have more time
the work is never finished, the only constant is change; etc — I’ve made adjustments again and will probably continue to, although I can be stopped (for a price). sorry to everyone that reblogged the last iteration, I really should start writing patch notes.
Scenes from "The Liquid Halls of Modernity"
The Offshore Firm, Volume II (2023) --
// 1 min 50 sec video piece made for "Patchwork Glitch" an exhibition of narrative-based glitch arts at the ImnotArt Gallery in Chicago. September 1-14, 2023.
// Retrodystopic hyper-corporate spaces created with “Life Stage: Virtual House” (1993) for 3DO and composited with corrupted "Super Battleship" ROMs and the intro to "H2O: Just Add Water"
One of my favorite memories of early internet glitch art was Autechre's Myspace page layout when Quaristice came out in 2008. Completely twisting all elements into recursive, splattered images and even marquee scrolling assets, making it difficult to differentiate design from function. Totally breath-taking. It's still accessible in some way via the Internet Archive here.
