when I see examples on the California DMV bot of people writing inappropriate things and trying to pass them off as innocent, I can only think of a thing I saw years ago on the Nintendo Life forums
I don't remember how the topic came up, but this user called WiiDSmoker came under scrutiny for having a username against the rules (as in, it's clearly a drug reference, it clearly looks like 'weed smoker'), and they said no, it's just my three favorite things, the Wii, the Nintendo DS, and the band Moker

Ahead of the first year anniversary of the highly successful Super Mario Bros. Movie, it's been revealed the film will be making an encore in cinemas.
AMC Theatres has announced the Nintendo and Illumination animation will be returning on 28th June 2024 (thanks for the heads up, GoNintendo). So, if you did miss it the first time around and happen to be located near one of these theatres, this is your chance to catch it on the big screen.
When The Super Mario Bros. Movie originally arrived in cinemas last year, we mentioned how it was perhaps everything you might expect it to be - with the sheer amount happening on-screen enough to keep us engaged from start to finish. Of course, if you don't want to watch the movie in cinemas, The Super Mario Bros. Movie is now available on disc and streaming services.

Finally Nintendo Life.
Took you all long enough. I’ve been waiting on your full out review for ‘Tears Of The Kingdom’ for ages now.
I see a lot of people complaining about the Sage avatar abilities but I actually really like them. Especially Tulin’s ability where he can head shot an enemy like nobody’s business. Honestly, it’s thanks to him I’ve took out half of the Savage Lynels that I have already in the game. And his wind gust ability is useful depending on how you’re using it. No, it’s not as good as Revali’s Gale but it’s still not awful. Come on now. And Yunobo’s ability comes in really handy when you haven’t got a rock based weapon to smash rock walls and ores with. Not to mention create a quick updraft through the grass to get in a few Bullet Time shots. Riju’s ability is very useful for making enemies drop all of their weapons at once when you’re surrounded so you can quickly go steal them off them. The least useful ability is Sidon’s because whatever would you need a water shield for any way? But again - there’s ways of using it as a utility tool. And I still think it’s better that you get to travel around with the Sage avatars than just be completely alone in your journey. The whole point is the team work of the community.

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince Rules the Roost, Surpasses 1 Million Sales!
Remember Psaro, the cursed prince turned monster wrangler, from last month’s Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince? Well, it seems like the world has fallen for his charm (and monster-collecting prowess), because the game has just soared past a major milestone: one million units sold worldwide! That’s right, trainers! Whether you’re battling it out in Japan, where physical copies even flew off…

‘Mario + Rabbids: Sparks Of Hope’ - Review Roundup!
Returning with a shimmer after the success of 2017′s release (can you believe it’s been 5 years?!) this group of oddly thrown together heroes are not here for zeros when it comes to review scores! So, what’s the story? Well...
Cursa, a mysterious and malevolent entity has sought out energy from the innocent Sparks to further its nefarious plans, plunging the galaxy into chaos! In order to save them from becoming the catalyst to destruction, Mario and friends must team up with Rabbids once again!
Before you make the starry jump into a fight for the ages, there’s no need to go trawling through all those review site pages... We’ve compiled the best of the big names for you below:
IGN - 9/10
“Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope takes the excellent tactical combat ideas of Kingdom Battle and runs absolutely wild with them. Its goofy characters still have the ability to bounce off of each other, but they’re now free of the rigid grid and wonderfully customizable thanks to the mix-and-match Sparks that give them new and reliably interesting powers.”
GodIsAGeek - 8/10
“Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is one of those sequels that improves on the original in almost every way. But it’s important to note that I said “almost”, there. The difficulty curve is far better than in Kingdom Battle, there’s a deeper, more interesting RPG system at the core, and overall exploration is just better. In fact, bar a few issues, it’s difficult to avoid saying that Sparks of Hope is pretty much a triumphant return of the Mario + Rabbids mashup that still seems like an impossible thing that even exists.”

Eurogamer - Recommended
“I've finished the campaign but I'm still ploughing through side quests, the best of which give you a really interesting battlefield encounter to pick away at. I imagine I'll be playing Sparks of Hope over the next few months the way I still play XCOM, which is to say I treat it something like the daily Wordle - a quick battle here and there as I wait for the oven to heat or the bath to run.”

NintendoLife - 8/10
“An extra couple of notches on the difficulty meter might have forced us to experiment and dig deeper to find winning strategies. However, Sparks of Hope shines in most aspects outside of these Darkmess bouts. Delightful little puzzles, quests, and memorable locales abound, which yet make this Rabbid-themed adventure a must-play for Mario and strategy game enthusiasts alike.”
GamesRadar - 4.5/5
“Overall, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is brilliant, silly, and really strategic (if you want it to be). Battles are complex, rewarding, and regularly very clever, which allows Mario + Rabbids to continue holding its own amongst the best strategy games out there. And with a whole host of post-launch content already confirmed, including our old pal Rayman, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope clearly has a bright future ahead.”
Polygon - Recommends
“That Sparks of Hope finds such harmony between strategic depth, cartoonish magnetism, and a fair amount of comedy (yes, as long as we’re being honest here, I think the Rabbids are funny) is no small accomplishment. If Kingdom Battle stood on the shoulders of giants, Sparks of Hope leaps off of them and into an arena all unto its own. It’s an excellent tactics game, by all means. But it’s also a confident Mario adventure in its own right.”
Few would argue that Ubisoft have not one but TWO Tactical RPG gems in their catalogue on the back of these reviews! Of course you’ll form your own opinions this Thursday at launch, but Mario + Rabbids are back to once again win hearts and this time, save sparks!
Pre-order both Standard & Gold Editions and you’ll receive a FREE Postcard!
Right here at The Game Collection!

Being one of the most recognisable and influential figures in gaming, it should come as no surprise that Masahiro Sakurai has managed to accumulate a number of extremely rare collectibles over the years.
In his latest YouTube 'Grab Bag' video, the legendary game designer has taken a bit of a different approach to his usual content, opting to showcase some of the most rare antiques in his collection; items that simply would never become available to the general public thanks to their unique features.
So we've got engraved Wii Remotes, autographs from Shigeru Miyamoto, Kid Icarus statues... The lot. There was potential for a video like this to feel a bit pretentious, but it actually comes across as a nice, wholesome bit of viewing. Well, see what you think, anyway.

The Endless Ocean games on Wii!
Tumblr media
Endless Ocean 1 and 2 are an awesome duology of Wii games where you scuba dive, learn about fish, and collect treasure. The main gameplay loop consists of exploring vast underwater environments, find hidden treasure, and interact with fish to fill up a fish-dex. Playing it as a kid even encouraged me to try scuba diving!
They look fantastic too, it's like, still the PS2 era graphics, but it's on Wii so it is like, the peak of that. It has that charming low poly look I have seen a lot of people craving.
Tumblr media
Most of your time in the game is just exploring and taking in the environment, but there is always something to find. When you interact with fish, you fill up a fish-dex, and you can learn real world facts about them. If you play it, you'll have so many fish facts to share with people. (When they're accurate, the games are old)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They even have a story with pretty good human characters. The environments are fantastical, you visit ancient ruins, ship graveyards, even sunken castles, but the human characters means it always stays grounded and has some pathos.
Tumblr media
If you are into older games and you're looking for a shorter length game with low-fi graphics, gameplay that doesn't really resemble anything before or since, and to learn a bunch of cool fish facts, I can't recommend Endless Ocean enough. I think they might be kind of rare these days, but they work great, and are thematically appropriate, on Dolphin, and should work fine with a normal controller, especially Endless Ocean 2 as it had Classic Controller support.
