I guess what it is is that so often a superheros supporting cast end up taking elements and themes of the 'main' hero away, lessening their impact, and i dont *like* that usually. i like the hero so i dont want every derivative. some end up done well enough and departing in ways worthy of a new character without taking away from the old, but like. thats more uncommon i guess?

Also tbh casts just get sooo fucking bloated i cant do it lol.

Fanfic Writer Questions!

1- How many works do you have on AO3?

I have 19 works on AO3.

2. What's your total AO3 word count?

Do y'all really want to know? Welp. Okay, since you asked.

According to the stats section of AO3, I have published 1,338,126 words on AO3. (Not including my recently deleted fic which was 23,000-ish words).

A million of those words are Korrasami fics.

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Korrasami (The Legend of Korra) and Supercorp (Supergirl - Arrowverse).

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

Confession (Supercorp) at 854 kudos, which was a rewrite of the end of Season 4.

You are the only one that sees me, trusts me, and believes in me (Supercorp) at 411 kudos, which is a one-shot of Kara telling Lena the truth after Lena is poisoned in Season 3.

Unraveling Realities (Supercorp and sequel to Confession) at 346 kudos, which is a rewrite of Season 5. (Includes Lena's Great Irish Quest and is not a rift fic).

Shared Moments: Book 2 - Spirits (Korrasami) at 329 kudos, and is a rewrite of The Legend of Korra Book 2. I continue this series all the way through to Book 4 (Books 1 through 3 are completed, I'm working on Book 3.5 and 4).

Terminal Velocity, Texts, and Cats (Supercorp) at 215 kudos, and is the story of Lena and Kara's friendship/relationship from season 2 through start of Season 6 (no Totem storyline tho) as told through texts, cats, and carefully woven short scenes. It's a one-shot technically.

5. Do you respond to comments?

Yes. I will gladly talk to folks in the comments and even have conversations with people! I enjoy it. I do my best to thank commenters too, though it may take me a bit to answer these days.

However, when people shit on my fiction, I learned my lesson, and no longer fall for that trap.

But overall most comments are pleasant and lovely. I love hearing from readers! Feel free to share how you feel and your thoughts on the story.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I tend toward happy endings to be honest, but I'd say the angstiest ending was Shared Moments: Book 3 - Change (Korrasami) because there's no avoiding the angst there. I kept the story arc of Book 3 close to the original, so for folks that have seen TLOK, they know how angst heavy the end of Book 3 is.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Most of them? Well, except for Book 3 - Change and Book 3.5 - The Mirror. Those aren't happy per se. They are hopeful, yes, but not happy. All other fics have a happy ending.

Maybe Asami's Hidden Box of Letters and Poetry? It's a cute one-shot of Asami and Korra being absolutely adorable, and it ends with them being happy and kissing, so yeah. Probably the happiest?

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Ugh, yeah. Weirdly enough I got the most hate on my Korrasami fics, where a few readers would write some really, really cruel things. Or rant about what they wanted me to write. Or engage in fights with other commenters (yes, this happened on the big finale of Book 3 - Change, where the ableist comments squared off with the kind commenters). Or the editor commenter who gave unasked for and unwanted "editing" of chapters.

Strangely enough, I have only had one mean commenter in the Supercorp fandom, and that poster was someone that other commenters warned me about and told me to disregard.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Not really? I will write a vague sex scene here and there -- mostly in the Korrasami fics (my Shared Moments series). I haven't gotten to any sex scenes in the Supercorp fics though a few are coming up in Unraveling Realities.

I try to capture the emotion of the scene rather than describing the sex in detail. I honestly don't feel qualified to write a smut scene, which is why I prefer this approach.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

I wrote a silly crossover of Supergirl and The Legend of Korra. It's on Tumblr somewhere -- see my pinned post, I think I linked it there.

I do have a WIP, where Lena builds a multiverse portal only for it to open in the Avatarverse, and her and Kara accidentally end up stuck in Asami and Korra's world. So then Korra and Asami have to help them build a portal and find their way home again. I don't know if I'll ever finish it.

I also have a Star Wars Korrasami WIP. This one involves Asami and Korra assisting in the Battle of Endor with Luke, Leia, Han, and crew. They then help with the building of the Republic.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Yes, I was pissed. Please don't do that.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Not that I know of. If anyone wants to translate one of my fics, let me know. I'm willing to talk shop.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

@nottawriter and I are working on a Supercorp fic, though it's not published. It's where Lena and her daughter meet Kara, who is their home inspector.

Beyond that, I've only ever co-written original fiction. My friend, Raveneye and I wrote an original science fiction story. It was written in the form of "letters," where one person was on the space station (Raveneye's character) and one person on the alien planet (my character).

14. What's your all time favorite ship?

Korrasami. Supercorp is a close second.

15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I will finish all my WIPs someday!! Unless I die before that happens. *knocks on wood* But I guess the Supergirl/TLOK crossover is least likely to ever be finished.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Worldbuilding and immersion of reader in the five senses.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Pacing. Honestly. pacing makes me anxious, and I'm always convinced I'll fuck it up, especially in longer works. (And yet, I write mostly longer works. Go figure).

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I have done this. Spanish and Irish in particular. (Kryptonian as well now that I think about it). I include translations in the end-notes.

I do it mostly for the reader to feel the same emotions as the POV character who struggles to understand the other language. Does this trick work? So far comments seem to imply yes? But who knows?

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Korrasami.

20. Favorite fic you've written?

I have to pick one??? I don't know actually.

I'm pretty proud of my rewrite of Book 2 - Spirits and Book 3 - Change. I'm also proud of Confession, especially how I reworked Lena's role in the Red Daughter fight scenes.

But I like all my fics equally well to be honest. I mean why write them otherwise?

Um...hi!

So because I have acquired a few followers, I thought I'd say hi everyone. Extremely surprised that you have decided to follow me but incredibly happy as well!

Just a lil' bit about me if anyone cares:

-My pronouns are she/her.

-I identify as an asexual lesbian!

-I'm a Pisces ♓

-I'm from Arizona which...is ya know...something. 😂

-I support everyone in the lgbtq+ community and I genuinely mean that. There is no gatekeeping here. This is a safe space for everyone no matter how they identify. 💚

-Also racism is a big no no here. I wish I wouldn't have to put that in here but with the unpredictability of the past few years politically in this country (and lets be honest just the world in general), you can't be too careful. 😳

-I'm Chicana. I don't care for the term Hispanic, personally (no hate to anyone who does) so that's the label I go with.

-Right now I am obsessed with Gaylor and to be specific, Kaylor. 😍 Literally constantly losing my mind with this stuff. As I've mentioned before tho all gaylors are welcome as long as we're all kind and respectful. ☺

-So it's obvious I like Taylor Swift if you've clicked on my blog and actually read my description but I have other artists I really like too. I like Paramore, Hayley Kiyoko, Imagine Dragons, Sara Bareilles, Tegan and Sara and a lot more. Honestly my music taste is all over the place. Mostly pop, alternative, and indie music.

-Some of the shows I've really liked are She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, The Owl House, The Legend of Korra, Dead To Me, Wynnona Earp, Wednesday, and Supergirl. Also, OUAT but I didn't watch all of it because they did not do Emma and Regina justice. I really love The Bear right now too. Sydney is my favorite character and I can't wait for season 3. There are probably others but I can't think of them.

-I like reading queer books because why would I waste my time on straight novels (I'm kidding kind of). My favorite books have been Ask the Passengers by A.S. King and The Lesbiana's Guide to Catholic School by Sonora Reyes. Both are amazing and I would highly recommend them. I've read both multiple times now.

What is your opinion on Dick Malverne? Favorite canon Kara love interest? Favorite Kara sapphic ship? Which one of pre-crisis Kara's job did you enjoy the most? If you could choose one member of the main Superfam (Clark, Lois, Jon, Kon, Kenan, Nat and John) to have a team-up book with Kara, which one would you choose? If you could have a past Supergirl writer come back to write an ongoing for her, who would you choose (excluding Starling Gates cuz he is an obvious answer)?

i don’t have a lot of deep thoughts on dick malverne tbh! i liked how he was written in solo (2004) #1 and i think his silver age version is funny purely bc he’s kind of insane, but i don’t really think about him all that often. i do think it’d be fun if they brought both him and jerro the merboy back into main continuity if only because they’re specifically kara’s supporting characters.

hmmm favorite canon love interest is hard bc i don’t really care about any of her boyfriends lmao. i did think that the relationship drama between kara and phil decker in supergirl vol 2 was entertaining so i’ll say him. and i wouldn’t really classify him as a canon love interest for kara but i thought her little relationship with ryand’r was fun in sg vol 7

my favorite sapphic ship is definitely a toss up between kara/maxima and kara/thara ak var. i also have a soft spot for kara/lucy lane from the 1984 supergirl movie <3. and honestly i kinda love the superman family era kara/lena (i didn’t really care abt them in the silver age). i’m pretty sure lena was one of the only civilian characters (excluding fred/enda) who knew about kara’s double life (even tho she eventually forgot about it) and their dynamic in the 70s was fun.

as for my favorite job for pre-crisis kara i feel like i mention it all the time but i loved when she was an actress. i think that’s such a fun/unique job and it opens up a lot of possible complications wrt kara keeping her identity hidden that could be fun to explore. and as someone who's an art guild kara truther it ties into that as well <3

now this might be a boring answer but i would love a clark and kara team up book. i literally love their relationship so much and i feel like there’s still a lot to explore with their dynamic. any time her and clark have a heart to heart with one another is so sweet to me... my fav examples of this are in supergirl vol 5 #34, the superman family #208, and superman vol 1 #376 <3 also their camping trip in superman/supergirl: maelstrom <33

now in regards to having a past supergirl writer (who’s not sterling gates) come back to write another ongoing for her I’d choose steve orlando! i’ve talked before about how i don’t really like his run on sg vol 7, but everything i don’t like centers on the fact that it’s meant to synergize with the cw show. I generally liked how orlando wrote kara and i enjoyed a lot of the storylines he gave her as well. like i don’t like cw jeremiah/eliza or the deo but i thought that his interpretations of those characters and whatnot were enjoyable. and it’d be fun to see how he would write kara in adulthood when he doesn’t have an obligation to match the cw show.

A Shallow Dive Into: Justice League of America

Good morning Alex, and sorry, this must be getting boring. I usually have a topic ready days prior but this week was pretty hectic. I was gonna write code to analyze Spotify's top tracks and report my findings but sadly I don't have the time to write the code and write a blog post about it so I'm fishing my draft for the Justice League shallow dive I'd scrapped and finishing it up :P.

What's the Justice League?

DC had a team of superheros called the "Justice Society of America". After comic books fell out of popularity, the team was pretty much abandoned, and later reimagined in the form of the Justice League and also revived, but in a parallel universe. The Justice League at it's conception had the big shots Batman and Superman, Wonder Woman, A new Flash and Green Lantern (versions of whom who appeared in the Justice Society), Aquaman, Martian Manhunter but the roster has expanded exponentially since then and spawned sub-teams such as the magic based Justice League Dark, Justice League International consisting of superheroes from countries that are not America and Justice League Incarnate for the multiverse to name a few. The popularity of the Justice Society spawned other teams such as the Teen Titans, Young Justice, the Fantastic Four and the Avengers (Yes, DC did it first, just like everything else).

Meet The Cast

Superman - The (super)man, the myth, the legend. Kal-El is an alien from the planet Krypton (named so because the writer liked the element Krypton???). He landed on the farm of a couple, Jonathan and Martha Kent in Smallville, Kansas. His powers include: Flying, very durable body, super-strength, super-speed, frost breath, heat vision, super-vision (x-ray, telescopic yada yada). He can photosynthesis, but not under a red sun, they remove his powers, Krypton has a red sun, so Kryptonians are normal on Krypton, except I think Supergirl learnt to fly on Krypton in Injustice so idk, maybe just inconsistencies. Batman also has red sun in his possession to stop Superman if need be. Do not ask me how that works.

Batman - See: My last post

Wonder Woman - Princess Diana is the daughter of Hippolyta, the Greek mythology one. Although in DC, Amazons live on an island named Themyscira, where no men are allowed, and everyone is immortal I think so there is no need for reproduction. Wonder Woman is bisexual but her main love interest is a man, sadly. This origin story was concocted by a super-feminist and considered them the superior sex so he made an island without men cuz men suck I guess. I’m really sorry but I know very little about Wonder Woman.

The Flash(es) - The Flash is more of a mantle than a character. It has been carried by like 6 people at this point, those being:

Jay Garrick - The first Flash. Please forgive the origin story, it was 1940. He, in a lab, tipped over a beaker of HARD WATER, and the fumes of it gave him super-speed. He’s too old for me to know much about, sorry.

Barry Allen - Ah, the most iconic one of them all, FOR OLD PEOPLE!!! He was the Flash in the Justice League back in the Bronze and Silver ages, and was killed off in 1985, in Crisis. He returned in 2008. Just let Wally have some peace man, he’s been tortured because of Barry’s existence. Bartholomew Henry Allen’s (why is it legal to name people that) mother was killed by [SPOILER] when he was a kid and his father was wrongfully arrested because there was no evidence. Barry became a CSI to prove that his father did not commit the crime. He sadly died in prison before Barry could prove his innocence. Anyways, onto how he got his powers. This one is better tho. While working in the forensics lab one night, he was struck by lightning and doused in chemicals, giving him superspeed, because lightning, I guess.

Wally West - Nephew of Barry Allen’s girlfriend at the time Iris West, he was a huge fan of The Flash who just so happened to be his uncle. One day Iris took Wally to visit Barry’s crime lab, and guess what, lightning does strike twice. Barry revealed his identity and mentored him as he became Kid Flash. As Kid Flash he was a founding member of the Teen Titans. Again, I’m very salty that very few Teen Titans adaptations have him despite him being a founding member. Then, as he neared his 20s and still going by Kid Flash for some reason, Barry dies in his fight against Anti-Monitor. He is forced to step up as The Flash and struggles with carrying on the legacy. He has a psychological block on his speed because he was scared to outshine Barry, but with new threats forcing him to overcome the block, he becomes the fastest Flash ever and has the best connection to the Speed-Force, the force that gives the speedsters their powers.

I won’t go into details about the rest of the speedsters, there are far too many, but I will list some of them. Bart Allen, grandson of Barry Allen. Tornado Twins, twins of Barry and Iris. Johnny and Jesse Quick, Father and Daughter who get superspeed by speaking a formula, 3X2(9YZ)4A, don’t ask Wallace West, Barry’s nephew who got his powers the same way Wally did. Wait. Wallace? As in Wally? Wait what? Yeah, so remember how Wally was wiped from existence? Wallace was brought in to replace him. He’s Wally, but African-American, younger and just a less fun character.

Green Lantern - This is also a character with multiple characters having the same name. The Green Lantern Corps is basically an intergalactic police department. Each of them have a ring that lets them create anything, limited only by their imagination, and superspeed and breathe-in-space-thing. The first Green Lantern I know nothing about, Alan Scott, got an actual green glowing lantern and made a ring with it. The rest, however, were approached by a premade ring and selected for their indomitable will. Oh yeah, there’s also a whole rainbow of Lantern Corps. Yellow is their main enemy led by a former GL. I know too little about them too except Alan Scott is the Jay Garrick of GL, Hal Jordan the coolest the Barry, and Kyle Rayner the Wally. The others I don’t know much about, but they are John Stewart, Guy Gardner, Simon Baz, Jessica Cruz, idk why there’s only 2 female GLs and both took till the 2010s, and Sojourner Mullein.

Martian Manhunter - I know far too little about him too, but he’s a Green Martian, who was a criminal on Mars, his race was wiped out, I think, and is trying to reform on Earth. He has transformation powers, intangibility, and telepathy and a heck ton more, even wiki collapsed the list, even Superman doesn’t have a list that long.

Aquaman - Super-speed underwater, super-strength, super-durability, trident, talks to fish, weak telepathy, largest nation on Earth. Oh, right, origin story. Arthur Curry's mother was the Queen of Atlantis but his father is human, so he’s half Atlantean and half-Human so Atlantis people hate him but he gains their respect. I know too little, sorry again.

Those are the main members of the JL of America (There are a lot more). And there’s Cyborg too I guess but I consider him a Titan so he’ll be in part 2 if there’s ever one.

But Mrs Danvers in the book isn't what I would call geriatric! And even if one were to interpret her as such, the lesbian vibes are still there! Plus, the narrator in the book can easily be read as queer, particularly when it comes to Danvers, imo. Ngl, Beatrice gives off a vibe too. Come to think of it, I'm not sure Daphne du Maurier was capable of writing a completely straight woman. All the better for us :) I will not be examining the authors internalized homophobia tho :) I will simply enjoy her fucked up stories :) which are gay <3

From your reblogs, I'm assuming you're up to date on the locked tomb series. I just finished gideon the ninth with my partner, picked up harrow, and have been a bit disheartened.

We really really loved gideon, so we were bummed about the ending. As spoilery free as you can while I'm prob asking a spoiler question, if gideon was the main reason we loved the first book, do you still recommend harrow? We were also worried about the back of that book claiming to be more gay than the first but then its just harrow and ianthe, who we're not thrilled at the prospect of a romantic relationship going for

oh boy, tough question mostly bc... i am the opposite of you. i actually didn't love gideon all that much (not a common take/reaction in the fandom! ppl rlly love gideon you will have lots of ppl who feel similarly to you). for me personally, she's.. fine, but crass jokey butch who likes to fight isn't rlly my vibe. but icy femme terrible bitch very much is, so i happen to LOVE ianthe and rllllllly ship her and harrow (largely due to their interactions in HtN). so... i'm sort of the wrong target for this, BUT i CAN answer your question.... kind of, without getting too spoilery. what i can say that this is a series all abt death, and bones, and soul magic, and resurections of sorts, and i would tell you to fear not, re: gideon, in general??

(i will also say tho that this is also... PARTLY speculation post Things That Happened in HtN & NtN, but also, not speculation at all, either... bc of, same.)

okay this question is hard to answer without spoiling lol.

i will say tho... i would possibly adjust your expectations a little for the series? it's a LOT bigger than gideon and the ninth crew going to a murder mystery house, there are diff povs (of a sense, while trying not to be too spoilery, again) for each book so far. gideon is important, gideon has A Part to PLay and it's a big one, but, also the series gets expanded a lot, and other characters take center stage and have large parts to play too, if that makes sense?

personally, i've liked HtN and NtN more than GtN, but i also was DEEPLY CONFUSED by a lot of what goes on and needed to search around fandom things post readings to get better grasps on a lot of things, so, also note that. HtN is a confusing book, but i happened to rlly like it at the same time as being confused and annoyed abt that, too.

i would say try it? see how you feel? if it's not doing it for you then bail, that's totally fine, but after NtN and reading more meta/etc. i've rlly come around and enjoyed things a bit more. i also know... that what I WANT out of the series is probs not gonna be the outcomes of this series, so i'm just down to enjoy the characters i like while i've got them, mostly.

i hope that makes any sort of sense or helps a little, if you do keep up with the series let me know how you like it!

yeah the film was good i loved the effects but the anime was sooo silly 😭 focused more on ramona and the exes than scott (he’s literally there for the equivalent of like 1.5 episodes😭) and gives the exes sooo much more personality and goofiness OH I LOVE THEM RAHGGGG the art style is so cute and it has all of the original actors as the voice actors so that’s cool

Okay, the series I like the most are the witcher, supergirl, the vampire diaries, supernatural (my whole adolescence was about supernatural), the originals, Lovecraft country, the falcon and the winter soldier and many, many more (I have a horrible memory) and my fav movies: all the mission impossible movies (the action scenes are out of this world), the twilight saga, knives out, top gun and top gun maverick, all movies of the conjuring and I love Marvel movies but Black Widow will always have a special place in my heart AND I'm a huge fan of DC comics (even if the movies aren't very good) and me talking to you about the arts, i would love to say that i'm a person who reads a lot of books but i don't have that habit, only the ones that really, REALLY catch my attention, what I really read is fanfic and a lot of fanfic

Introducing DC's 80 page Pride book!!

(yes, I know it's not a full rainbow, I don't have all the colors 😭)

Notably, this marks Dreamer's first time being in the comics (she was first introduced in the Supergirl tv show as a descendant of Dream Girl). Dreamer was the first transgender superhero on tv and I'm very excited that she's here to stay!!! (Also apparently the actor who played Dreamer in the show wrote the story, which????? What the fuck, you go girl, that's awesome!?!? I wish I was that talented)

Extremely excited to see Jess again so quickly (pun intended). If you don't know who Jess Chambers is, they're my favorite non-binary Flash and they are absolutely wonderful. (I adore them) I loved their relationship with Aquawoman in Future State (it was one of the only things about Future State that I liked). Unfortunately, that's probably the last we'll see of Jess and Andy together, as Andy is a baby currently (unless they bring in an alternate universe Andy??). But honestly tho, I don't care if Jess is in a relationship or not as long as they are featured in comics.

Love to see the Gay Dads™ being featured front and center in the Pride anthology. Alan Scott, the absolute legend, just came out to his kids recently and it was beautiful. Hopefully this story includes his lovely children and the JSA, because we love to see them being wholesome together.

Midnighter and Apollo (the other Gay Dads ™) we haven't seen since DC's last Pride book (cough, cough, do better dc). Hopefully we get confirmation that their daughter still exists post reboot because I'm half expecting dc to pull a Lian Harper and I hate it.

Speaking of gays that we love, I'm incredibly excited for the return of the Pied Piper. The first openly gay man in dc, Hartley used to be a main character in the Flash series. Best friends with Wally West, Hartley stopped showing up in comics the same time he did. Hopefully now that Wally is the main Flash again Hartley will retake his role as a series regular (and we can finally have Piper's long awaited wedding).

☹️hi i dont usually do this thing where i ask for art/thoughts on things but ive had a super bad day and i was just curious as to what your take on your wounded-on-krypton Kara would be doing with Lena if she hadn't of come out as Supergirl but they still met and fell in love- would Kara just be floating around Lena's apartment during quarantine listening to Lena read books and making her gf tea's and flying out to get her her supplies so Lena would stay safe from getting sick? I really love your art.

aww, I'm sorry u had a bad day, I made a little doodle and tried writing a little story for it as well that should answear your queastion about my scarred!Kara and her relationship with Lena if she didn’t became Supergirl (tho I'm not a writer, so its quality might not be the best) hopefully it will make u feel even just a little bit better

The first time she met Lena, Kara was going to L-Corp to get a prosthetic replacement from their new Cybernetic Futures program since she kind of destroyed her old one.

Okay, she definitely destroyed her old one, but to be fair, who knew kicking a cement boulder with a prosthetic leg made from human metals but with the force of an angry and very frustrated superpowered being would destroy said metal leg. Really, who could've predicted that?

Walking into the building with warm coffee in hand proved to be more difficult than Kara hoped, her busted prosthetic making her wobble every two steps since she didn't have a spare she could wear - this was the spare - and the slippery tiled floor didn't help. Making her way to the elevator she kept glancing down focusing on her steps, this meant she didn't notice when a woman absorbed in her phone walked straight into her path. On instinct, she relaxed her body as to not harm the human she collided with, unfortunately, that meant she lost her barely-there, to begin with, balance and was sent sprawling onto the floor and her coffee splashing straight at the woman's shirt. Perfect. Just what she needed today.

She had an apology already forming on her lips when she looked up and for the first time noticed the woman, no, the goddess she bumped into. Her hair was black, but when it caught the light it shone deep chestnut brown and cascading down her back, her skin was pale and looked so soft Kara found herself wanting to touch it, her fingers twitching at her sides. The woman's eyes were green, though her right eye seemed to be two shades lighter, more gray than green. She wasn't looking at her currently occupied with taking in the state of her clothes. And Rao, her clothes. The outfit was that of a businesswoman, high heels ready to kill, dark burgundy slacks with a matching suit jacket, loose black tie, and a white shirt. A white shirt that was now covered in Kara's coffee. Oh no. She needed to fix this, like, immediately. The best place to start is with an apology, right?

Lena was having a pretty normal day, all things considered. She should have known her days are never normal. She woke up early, ate a small breakfast, and went to work. There she had meetings with investors from 8 to 11, some paperwork to sign, a small meeting with the head of R&D at 12, and now she finally had enough time to take a break and maybe grab some lunch. With a certain sandwich place in mind, she made her way down to the ground floor and, while answering some last-minute e-mail made her way to the exit of the building.

Before she could even make it halfway to the wide double door, she felt something surprisingly solid and at the same time very wobbly bump into her, and then a sudden warmth and wetness on her chest. Looking down at herself confirmed what she already suspected, someone, spilled coffee on her. Thankfully it was only warm and not scalding hot the last thing she needed right now was dealing with coffee-induced burns. Making sure her shirt was the only thing damaged in the incident, Lena paid no mind to the person who bumped into her, that is until a very apologetic voice started talking to her. From the floor. Looking away from her ruined shirt, she took in the person frantically trying to apologize for spilling coffee on her, at least that's what she thinks the woman was trying to do, seeing as at his point she was rambling a mile a minute.

The woman on the floor looked young, probably around the same age as Lena herself, she had blond wavy hair gathered in a messy ponytail and hidden behind cute square-framed glasses, the bluest eyes she has ever seen. There was a burn scar covering most of the left side of her face and neck and more peeking out from under her shirt. Her left leg ended right below the knee, and the prosthetic she was wearing looked like someone put it under an industrial press and then tried to put it back into shape with a hammer. She was wearing blue sneakers, jean shorts, and a yellow tank top with tiny rainbow dinosaurs on it that gave her an unobscured view of the rippling muscles in her arms as she gesticulated wildly still rambling out something resembling an apology.

Taking it all in Lena came to one conclusion. She's cute. And so with warm coffee drying on her chest and a beautiful woman at her feet, really what else was there for Lena to do other than ask the blonde out on a date.

They moved in together after a year of dating. Alex asked if they were sure, but there wasn't a doubt in their minds that this was what they wanted. It felt right. And they were glad for this decision since a few months later, they and most of the world's population were confined to their homes.

Days in quarantine were spent working from home on their laptops with their legs entwined together and sharing a blanket out of the view of the cameras. When they weren't working they were finding new ways to entertain themselves. Slowly making their way through the classics of fantasy and sci-fi literature, with Kara floating them above the couch and Lena laying on top of her chest reading aloud from her Kindle was how they were spending most of the evenings. During the weekends when there was less work, Lena tried to teach Kara how to bake - with mixed results - and Kara made it her mission to recreate as many childhood experiences Lena missed out on living with the Luthors as possible. Her blanket fort wasn't the most structurally sound, but it sure was cozy. Movie nights were a nightly routine, and cooking dinner together became the most sacred daily ritual neither of them dared or wanted to skip. Weekly game nights through zoom were initiated almost immediately after lockdown and to no one's surprise, Lena and Alex's competitiveness did not lessen with the development of not being in the same room. If anything it became worse. Bets about how long will it take for the two of them to start fighting and accusing each other of cheating were as much a tradition as game nights itself. Most days though were spent working and lounging together with Kara occasionally flying out to pick up supplies they needed. And when one day Kara flew through the balcony with two cats and a dog saying there wasn't enough space in shelters, who was Lena to refuse those cute puppy eyes (it didn't hurt that the dog and cats were adorable as well).
