I don’t often outright shame a comment but I will do this time. What the actual fuck is the point of telling me that you’re not enjoying chapters with spicy scenes in it and that you will click out of the story if yet more chapters contain spicy scenes?
What’s the purpose of writing this? What exactly do you expect me to do? Change the entire story just for you? Apologise for writing a story that heavily focuses on intimacy as two people discover their kinks and enjoy a healthy sex life? Beg you to stick with the story?
This is the epitome of a flame. It’s not constructive, it’s just rude. If you’re not enjoying the story the way it’s been written, hit the back button, close your browser tab, just leave. What are you hoping to achieve by sharing these thoughts with me?
Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate a good discussion and I will almost always accept constructive feedback (providing I’m asked first, because remember I have a life too and you don’t know what I’m going through at any given time of my life) but there is literally nothing positive about this comment. All it says is “sure, I like spicy scenes but if you ask me there are too many so if that continues I’m just going to leave”.
Honestly, it comes across as a threat, nothing more, nothing else. Again, what am I expected to do here? What’s the intended purpose? I’ve no reason to beg for readership nor will I seek out flattery. I don’t know any author who would.
Don’t like, don’t read. That simple. You read the tags, you saw that my story was kink heavy and yet you chose to read it. I didn’t make you, I didn’t beg you, I didn’t ask you. Perhaps a friend recommended my story or someone in a group did and you decided to follow through on that person’s recommendation and check my work out. Still does not explain why you see it fit to subject me to a statement that is hurtful.

NanoWrimo Prep Week
October started NanoWrimo Prep month. Totally optional since the traditional version of NanoWrimo was NO prep. Anyway, the past week, they have been focusing on the plot.
I am still trying to figure out my which story I will do:
Traditional Nano: Write a New story. SFF with fairies.
Nano Rebel: Editing my old ass novel. Occult-spy romance.
Nano Traditional/Rebel (I started a couple of scenes). Cozy mystery.
All the above. Work on what I want when I feel like it.
What are y'all thoughts? I am lending towards 4 because I am a rebel.

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME?????????? and thus was verbal again

the fact that shakespeare was a playwright is sometimes so funny to me. just the concept of the "greatest writer of the English language" being a random 450-year-old entertainer, a 16th cent pop cultural sensation (thanks in large part to puns & dirty jokes & verbiage & a long-running appeal to commoners). and his work was made to be watched not read, but in the classroom teachers just hand us his scripts and say "that's literature"
just...imagine it's 2450 A.D. and English Lit students are regularly going into 100k debt writing postdoc theses on The Simpsons screenplays. the original animation hasn't even been preserved, it's literally just scripts and the occasional SDH subtitles.txt. they've been republished more times than the Bible

You know what? Fuck it.
The amount of notes that this post gets by the end of April is the amount of words I'll write for one of my books.

Writing two chapters in two days just two weeks after major surgery was a completely hare-brained idea. No wonder I’m so completely exhausted… Well, yesterday’s first actual walk (five minutes) may also have had something to do with aforementioned tiredness, but while those chapters really wanted to be written, it sure zapped my energy…and then some.
This dragon is going to sleep for like day 17 hours *hangs do not disturb sign on cave entrance* See ya on the flip side. 💜

I forgot how lonely it is to write original fiction.
Where are the kudos? The subscriptions? The comments? The people cheerleading me chapter to chapter? Where are the kind words and compliments and reassurances that what I'm writing isn't complete crap? Where are the unhinged emojis? The asks on Tumblr? Where are my mutuals in my dms apologizing for not reading the latest chapter right away (side note, you know you don't have to apologize at all, right??). Where is the fanart? Where are the recs?
Where is my motivation to keep going?
It's something I've been thinking about a lot, actually, lately. How the experience of writing fanfic is so unique. How you already have an audience, willing and waiting and captive. And that's really it, isn't it? You have an audience. It's almost performative, writing fanfic. It's being on a stage, a one-person show (or two, if you do it with a friend); it's getting live reactions to your performance, it's feeding off the energy of the crowd and informing it back in a feedback loop; it's improvised, sometimes, in almost-real-time. It's building something that you couldn't have built by yourself. A thing that takes on a life of its own.
It's an experience you can't get writing original fiction, and, honestly, not having it is making it hard to write something original at all.

This... this is a whole different kind of psychic damage here. When nightmares got Marcille, we get to knew that her's biggest fear is outliving her friends. This isn't even canon probably, but look at this. This isn't a "I don't want my friends to die" kind of dream. This is a "I'm terrified of loosing my daughters, of something killing them, and being incapable of stopping it" kind of dream. It's so simple yet it explains perfectly the whole of chilchucks character. He loves, he cares, deeply. But he, or doesn't acknowledges, or doesn't know what to do with that knowledge.
Besides that. Someone had to wake him up after this. Imagine the devastation in this man after he wakes up. He just saw his three little babys murdered corpses (or maybe he saw them die, wich isn't better). He would possibly not talk about it, and that would worry the hell out of the party, because we'll, they see him all down and only one of them knows what he saw. Imagine being the one to pull him from that nightmare. Seeing this man, usually so composed, fuking staring with tears and terror in his eyes to the composes of what you can only assume are his daughters. It would be heartwrenching.
Idk, I love this man so much...

Edit: A writer's strike has not started. The Guild's membership has just authorized one in the cause that Guild reps and studio executives cannot come to an agreement on the contract.
Don't pull out the spirit holloween banners yet, is all I'm saying.
Edit 2, circa May 1, 2023: The studios have refused to negociate with the writers' guild in good faith, leaving the guild no choice but to strike.
A WGA STRIKE HAS BEGUN.
