absolute loml ty!!! like everything else this is from my wip “in the face of blind optimism.” the original scene is in jim’s pov and this is retold bruce’s!

POV: something that’s already happened, retold from another character’s perspective.

Bruce could admit to himself that he wasn’t the best cook. Alfred would usually take care of the day to day necessities of life, such as cooking, but considering he was out of commission for the time being — and for the foreseeable future, though he didn’t like to dwell on thoughts like that — Bruce has had to adapt. Eggs, he could manage alright. Grilled cheeses too, but the first time he’d successfully made one he had a panic attack before he could eat it. 

Perhaps it was selfish of him to crash Jim and Lee’s weekly lunch just so he didn’t have to go through the effort of cooking for himself — and, of course, so he could see them and baby Barbara who already had him wrapped around her ravioli sized fist — but, after the year he had, he was at the point of not caring.

Besides, Jim always got his burger order right, remembering to ask for extra pickles and no mustard every single lunch they shared. He’d have been a fool to turn his nose up to him. 

They all ate in relatively peaceful silence, baby Barbara bouncing happily on Jim’s knee, mashing his tie between her still toothless gums. It was nice. A calming distraction from the bustle of reunification and the sterile, orderly minefield that Alfred’s hospital room felt like. 

Lee took a long sip from her chocolate shake, before turning to Bruce, apparently satisfied with their lunch and gearing up to start her weekly, well-intentioned, interrogation of his life. “So, Bruce, have you put any more thought into what you want to study? You mentioned criminal justice and psychology last time we talked.”

Jim swallowed a mouthful of fries, looking more interested than Bruce would have assumed he would be, his forehead screwing up in worry, aging him. “Criminal justice? Are you thinking about going into law or fieldwork?”

“I haven’t thought about it in depth yet,” Bruce lied, wondering what it would take for Jim to treat him as more than a kid. “All I know is I want to do something to help other people. Seeing everything that’s happened in Gotham over the last few years has shown me that this city needs help. I want to be in a position to give it the help it deserves.”

Jim stayed frowning, not saying anything. 

Lee rolled her eyes at him, smiling conspiringly at Bruce. “Have you considered medicine?”

with wtfock more than any other remake it’s extremely important to see seasons 1 and 2 to make the way robbe acts in season 3 make sense. like robbe was tortured in ways the other isaks just weren’t and i think people forget that when they watch season 3. (not to excuse any of his actions obviously more just to explain them)

moyo was so much worse than elias because not only was the way he treated robbe much worse and more genuinely cruel but he was not a random guy he’s one of robbes friends and his behaviour continues from season 1 all the way into season 3. that seriously, obviously, continuously hurts and scares robbe very deeply.

and on top of that one of the things that really bothers me is that instead of eva and noora keeping it between themselves and eskild, the wtfock girlsquad all sit around and gossip about robbe like it’s funny joke. and on top of THAT milan a fully grown adult tries to kiss him in front of everyone they know and then all his friends laugh at him and he ends season 2 alone after having stormed out like. this shit still makes me furious if you can’t tell lmao and it’s why i’m so protective of robbe as a character

So my first language is Afrikaans and it’s really really close to Dutch (like I can understand Dutch and people who can speak Dutch can understand me) however there are some small changes.

So in Afrikaans, ‘klap’ also means hit or spank. However, it means to hit or spank REALLY hard. Like the kind of slap that you could end up with a concussion from. And because of my habit of reading Dutch like it’s Afrikaans, I read the sentence with that meaning of ‘klap’ and wow that was a wild ride 😂

oh, oh, oh, 10000% Alex is the barista who’s working there part-time to keep up expenses during college and Henry is the customer who has a massive crush on Alex but doesn’t know how to ask him out because he’s worried asking him when he’s working might be insensitive  (since it’s like, his place of work, and he doesn’t want Alex to be obligated to say yes just because he doesn’t want to lose a customer)

okay so this could go either way tbh but what im thinking is: British Royal Men are expected to sign up for the Military. I’m not sure if it’s necessary, but it’s definitely like the done thing. So obviously, Henry signs up, but he finds he likes it. Like really likes it. Like he’s found his calling type likes it. So he renounces his title, and does another before he injures himself and has to be honourably discharged.

His grandmother might not like it, but his mother and sister always made it clear that his title was waiting for him, should he want it. But he doesn’t want it. He’s itching to serve and protect, even if he can’t serve in the military anymore. Pez, who was an eternal godsend during his years in the military, mentions that he’s setting up a private security firm with some of the other men that they served with and does Henry want to join?

Henry jumps at the opportunity, even though it takes him to the United States, and away from everything familiar. He’s used to being away from his family. Business is good, if not a little slow - but Pez assures him that’s just because they’re recently established. Then, there’s an attack on the President’s life and Pez and Henry find themselves with the contract of a century: tasked with protecting the First Family.

(Henry would be happier if Alex Diaz, member of said First Family, hadn’t been the reason for his sexuality crisis)
