one detail that i find neat about max’s room is that it’s filled with x-treme sports stuff (gear, posters, trophies) and one very expensive telescope. seriously, look at the size of that barrel.

its the only astronomy thing in his room (and the whole apartment tbh) and it is so important to him that not only does he keep it between moves, not only does he set it up before he’s even finished unpacking, but unlike everything else, its always by the window.

and the show does nothing with it??? someone please correct me if im wrong bc srsly what the fuck. in a sci-fi show about aliens, including one that has scenes establishing that he actively goes to the roof to stargaze, the telescope in the mc’s bedroom is never mentioned? like im not asking for much, just a scene of it in use or max commenting that it used to be his dad’s (bc jim 100% owned a telescope) and even though max never really got into stargazing all that much, he keeps it nearby bc it makes him feel connected to his dad.

or yknow, let him have this interest and reference it in the show without using the scope. ie max takes a moment to appreciate the night sky at literally any point when he’s away from copper canyon’s light pollution (up to and including one of the times they’re in space), or max and steel are speculating where steel/ultralinks come from, and max mentions/points in the genral direcrion of exoplanets

and, like, the show does this with the sports stuff. the skateboard’s a p perfect example, bc it also got to be in the room before the unpacking was finished, but we see max frequently using it, we see it getting moved about his bedroom bc he doesnt have a specific spot for it aside from generally at the foot of his bed, he connects to other characters over skateboarding.

or even the snowboard. it also goes unused, but its presence establishes that max is actively into and participated in more xtreme sports than skateboarding. it’s also a reminder that max isn’t from copper canyon, since here he is w this nice snowboard sandwiched btwn the coast and a mesa. (it’s also a reference to the 2000s max steel but shh)

tldr: most of the stuff in max’s room is p obviously related to his interests and then there’s this mysterious telescope that i go feral over every time i see it.

You know what? I'm gonna be original for once. Hello JoJo Tumblr, have me and my funny little guy with a slightly more comprehensible ability than [King Crimson].

Namesake: The World We Knew (Over and Over), Frank Sinatra

Localization: [Again 'n Again] or [We Know the World]

Ability:

The creation of Invisible Portals anywhere within a 20 meter radius. These portals can have a diameter of a maximum of 4 meters, and travel between two linked portals is instantaneous. Because of their invisibility, the user only KNOWS where they are. But due to his creative nature, he can envision a perfect placement in his head.

The stand comes equipped with a Bo-Staff that it found one time and the user let it keep, because he thought it was cool. [Over and Over], influenced by its design, has a similar strength and speed to that of a chimpanzee on roids. Why? Funny. He also comes with a stand rush utilizing the staff to 'stab' attack the enemy, ending with a Home-Run-Style swing for the head

Portal creation is done through the stand clapping its hands together, in which the stand will emit a PING! sound (like a radar) signaling the successful creation of a link between spaces. The user just has to think of two places where he would like the portals to go, which direcrion theyd face, and the stand forms both of them at once. It can be done in rapid sucession.

The stand also had the sub-ability to teleport the user instantly to whichever portal he so chooses, without the need to enter one himself. Though of course, the user can interact with the portals just like anyone else.

- TL;DR: It's a monkey with a battlestaff with the powers of Janemba from DBZ: Fusion Reborn. Any questions? Yes? Well, this is a JoJo post. Going more in depth will make it worse.

this gives me an opportunity to explain my jevil design (thanks for that and the compliments)

claws looking mechanical wasnt my intention but thats pretty cool too. i just made them look the same as his horns would look (which youll never get to see) black with the stripes being lime. ive done this in some of my other character designs and i like how it looks.

three horns have been a thing for a long time with my jevil design. back when i was still in denial about how much i liked him i drew him once with 3 horns (but they were showing in that one) and i guess that just sticked to my brain so i had to do it again. also i have a character that is a jester and also has 3 horns so thats a thing that only annoys me but i dont think ill change that tho.

cut puppet strings on his each limb is to symbolise his freedom. his strings were always loose but when he "managed" to cut them he kept them tied there to- actually i dont even know. for the first time im even not gonna try to make up something on the spot.

eye scratch things that i also dont know what theyre called are like that because of that one theory(?) that said each secret boss had a physical feature of gaster and jevils were the eye thing. SO i embraced that even more

lipstick-like part of his mouth is natural. his lips are black colored.

no no please please do not hit me with a hammer/j

man you know when you’re kind of tired and you slip into this weird state where you’re awake you can hear everything going on around you and could respond to it but you lost your grip on time. and you’re just freefalling through it in every direcrion. and you go through a successive row of dread and panic because you think you’re in another country when you’re not and how will you get to work tommorrow then but oh I haven’t been there in ??? years and oh you have to do xyz for someone but oh wait they’re dead they died a long while ago and a part of you still just knew so it goes when. and there’s a chore left to be done that you dont need to do anymore and papers to be signed and this bit of information and that and you’re a teenager again walking past the cafeteria and past the locker rooms and it’s empty and you realize you don’t remember the layout anymore or time or place and you realize ohhhh I’ve just lost my grip and you sort of just let your brain cycle through it with all the bad juice its injecting straight into you until your weird simulated heartache goes straight down to your knuckles and you have to pull yourself slowly out of it and you wish someone was there to do it for you. Having a normal one 🫥

They create these incredible light shows with the phone torches and for me on stage, looking on, that takes some organization. it’s like thousands of people getting in on it, so that’s always really special. Blows my mind, all of that stuff.”

Nope (2022)

Jordan Peele has had a good run of movies with Get Out and Us. Going into Nope I had high hopes that it would be another hit and, overall, I was very happy.

Nope is the story of 'two siblings running a horse ranch in California who discover something wonderful and sinister in the skies above, while the owner of an adjacent theme park tries to profit from the mysterious, otherworldly phenomenon.'

The film starts the story slowly and it does take a while to get into the meat of the tale. All the way through though there is a great mix of tension and dramatic moments, with some real moments of "Oh shit". Despite all this there a few times where the majority of the people in the screen chuckled, and I'm reasonably certain they were done like that deliberately to lighten the tone at otherwise high dramatic sections. This didn't take anything away from the film at all. If anything it added another dimension of emotion and worked really.

Peele's direction is on point all the way through. His choices of shots, and character moments, are meticulously chosen. He has a real knack behind the camera and should have a career that extends far beyond where he is now. If you asked me honestly is he one of the best directors ever I'd have to say no, not yet, but there's a bloody good chance he could be remembered among the likes of Spielberg, Cameron, Coppola etc. eventually.

Daniel Kaluuya, as OJ, is great without doing a great deal. OJ is a character that says a lot without actually saying much at all and he has easily one of my favourite moments. Sat in his truck he opens the door, looks out, closes it, shakes his head and just says Nope! It's one of the laugh moments I mentioned earlier.

Keke Palmer, as Emerald, is the energy to OJ's sedate nature. She is brilliant and i thoroughly enjoyed her performance. I couldn't tell you before this if I've seen her in anything else but you can bet I'll be watching out for her in the future.

Now for the not so positives...... About halfway through i started to be taken out of the story because I felt like it was heading in a direction that was way too on the nose for an alien/ufo film. I'm glad i watched it to the end as I was very pleased with the direcrion it did take. No spoilers obviously.

I did feel the run time. It felt like it was as long as it was. That sounds a bit odd I know but when I'm pulled into a movie, in most cases, I don't realise how quickly the time has gone. In this case, because I was pulled out for a period, time felt normal and not really sped up.

Overall I walked out and was thorughly intrigued at what an interesting movie it was. It's not a film I would 100% go see again, but if I needed something to do, or someone wanted to go that hadn't seen it, I'd happily go again.

With all that being said Im more than happy to give it a 7.5//10. It's a good movie, and i would recommend you go check it out. If asked to put his three films in ascending order:

Us at third

NOPE at second

Get Out at first, but it's a close run thing. None of them are bad films, and they all have fascinating elements to them that make them pretty unique.

i see we're talking abt svt and kpop twitters and more specifically army twt dislike for them and it is so funny to me bc .... ok im no trained vocalist by any means but from what I have Heard all of svt basically to me seem like .... better vocalists/performers than bts ??? like. bts' only strength is rlly their rap line, meanwhile svt are really well rounded ? and even svt's weakest in vocal unit still .... seem like they have a better grasp on their voice than most of bts' vocal line sorry not sorry

they actually are! like, for real. and i don't say that to be mean or anything, but seventeen is very strong vocally and they have been trained to be. the thing is, bts was never trained as vocal performers, not the way that sm idols or svt, for example, trained as vocalists (very insightful when seventeen vocal unit talks about how they dedicated a lot of time to just learning how to harmonize with each other. meanwhile bumzu mentioned jihoon's talent as a trainee explicitly in jihoon's hit the road ep, and that he thought it was best to not give jihoon too much direcrion/training because he already was v good in how he grasps and projects music vocally).

bangtan was built as a rap heavy group, sorta like bigbang. and because of that, their rapline is one of the strongest in the industry. we're speaking top 2 here. meanwhile the vocal line was never given the tools to support the switch from a rap-heavy group to a more streamlined, pop-vocal group. seokjin's story of seeking out his own vocal coach beyond what bighit/hybe provided is infamous for a reason. also, as a group, svt are the more skilled performers regarding dancing and synchronicity because their baseline standard for choreo is so high. meanwhile, bts has hoseok and jimin tho, who are two of the most talented dancers in the industry but they carry the weaker members of the group a lot.
