The bride, along with her sisters and other close female relatives are squatting under a red cloth in front of the ceremonial yurt while the men around the cloth are throwing candies on the cloth and distributing "bortsok" (fried dough), to bring good luck to the wedding. Meanwhile, the girls are weeping and crying, signifying the upcoming "loss" of the bride to her husdand's family. Pamir, a four-masted barque, was one of the famous Flying P-Liner sailing ships of the German shipping company F. Laeisz. She was the last commercial sailing ship to round Cape Horn, in 1949.

سفينة ألمانية ذات أربعة صواري بُنيت عام 1905 ؛ وهي آخر سفينة تقوم برحلات تجارية حول كيب هورن*؛ وواحدة من آخر سفينتين في الخدمة التجارية العادية؛ في 21 سبتمبر 1957 ضربها إعصار كاري وغرقت قبالة جزر الأزور.
كيب هورن: هو أقصى نقطة الجنوب من أمريكا الجنوبية من أرخبيل تييرا ديل فويغو. غالبًا كيب هورن يقصد بأنه الطرف الجنوبي لأمريكا الجنوبية.

What happened to the PAMIR sailing ship?In October 1951, both vessels were towed to Kiel and the PAMIR was converted into a sail training vessel. On 21 September 1957 she sank when her grain cargo shifted during hurricane Carrie in the Pacific Ocean. Only six of her complement of 86 souls survived.

Afghanistan lies just a short walk across a bridge over the Panj River from the Afghan Market on the Tajik side of the border. Afghan market vendors walk their goods across the village from their nearby home villages on the other side of the river.
