Hey, hi, hello, I’ve got another one since I remembered you do requests for The Politician! (Which happens to be my favorite thing ever lol) My thought is that, no doubt about it, Payton Hobart is the top of all tops (specifically with River because, side spicy-thought, you cannot tell me that they haven’t had at least one roll in the hay). Payton is very In Control of every aspect of his life and I know damn-well that that carries over into his spicy times
First of, thanks for sending in something for The Polictian. I feel like I missed my opportunity to talk talk and write for TP because nobody seemed interested in it on here.
The Polictian does suffer from everyone’s bad acting, not just Ben’s Platt’s, which I’m starting to think is a theme for Ryan Murphy productions. All his work feel way too theatrical and not in the right way. But anyway!
Payton is absolutely a top. He is determined to be a Dom just to feel control which comforts him. He is also thinks his partners (River and Alice, not counting Astrid since they’re relationship is not romantic IN MY OPINION) prefer him in a dominant way so it’s also for them.
BUT
I think Payton craves being open and submissive and even to be cuddled. I think only River even got to see him in that way, and it definitely wasn’t for awhile into their relationship. Yes, I bet they hooked up multiple times.
Payton is a flower who wants to be a gardener, how fucked is he? If you get that reference, I love you.
Anyway, Payton’s Dom persona is just a persona. It’s not real, it’s an image he’s created for control and to appease others. If anyone could make him feel as comfortable as River did to bring down that wall, I would be shocked. Sorry but Alice just can’t.
I’ve also always felt like Payton is really into light BDSM. Like handcuffs, gags, blindfolds etc. He will almost always be the one handcuffing someone to a bed and gagging them. But with River I could see him being the one cuffed. Payton is absolutely into cock rings too and owns several, fight me.

“You should not doubt him.” (payton hobart for any)
"i am not doubting him," eros countered, as he continued to watch the interaction between another man and the young woman. "i know they're soulmates. i just wish there was a way to help him." the other was being awkward, trying to flirt. eros just had a feeling that they were made for each other, but needed a way to push them together. to show them that.

there is something interesting abt payton being haunted by a vision of river but overall i think killing him in the pilot was such a waste bc i was so invested in where their relationship was going
