Hello!! I was wonder what you think about NWH? If you have seen it. Have a nice day.
hi! thank you for the question!
i hope I'll not get a lot of hate for this, but I'm not really a big fan of that movie. I wouldn't say it's the worst movie marvel has ever made, but it's not the masterpiece everyone says.
I don't have a lot to say about the plot. It's simple and not sophisticated, there are some plot holes but honestly they are present in every marvel movie . One thing I didn't understand is why Peter and Strange didn't talk APPROPRIATELY before the spell. You're telling me that Strange, a man who is a lot conscious and always careful with every plan he makes, didn't even bothered to ask Peter "hey do you want everyone to forget who you are or you want your friends to remember it?". Strange isn't a fool, I can't believe he didn't think about it before making that spell. Or maybe, he didn't even tried to convince him to do something else or make another plan. But okay, they needed a plot and even if it's poor I can go for it.
What I cannot go for it is the fact that nostalgia carried this movie. Without Andrew and Tobey, this movie would be nothing. Marvel does a lot of this lately: they make movies/shows and they make cameos to make people watch it because you know that fans will love every second of it and will concentrate only on the cameos, not the plot. That's not how you write movies. You cannot treat your fans like this, you just want to make your bag full of money and don't care about the plot or the characters.
Yes, the characters.
Honestly May's death was...rushed. We didn't see Uncle Ben in the MCU, but we know that he was there and that Peter became spiderman because of him. So what was the point in May's death? To hear the famous "with great powers comes great responsibilities" quote? We didn't need that because we already knew that Peter felt a lot of responsibility on his shoulder. We knew it from civil war, where he said to Tony that he has to do something because If he didn't help anyone with the powers he had, it would be his fault if bad things happened; We also knew it after Tony's death. Peter lived with the constant feeling that he had to be like Tony, while blaming himself for his mentor's death. What was the sense to make May say it? He already knew he had a lot of responsibility.
Another thing I want to say is how they treated Tony. In Far from home we see Peter grieving him through all the movie, he misses his father figure and now he has to live without him. Idk how Marvel thinks grief works, but nwh Peter and ffh Peter are not the same person. I can't believe he didn't mentioned him not either once. They completely erased Tony's influence in Peter's life and I'm like...what? Marvel took the little kids on twitter pressed about Tony too seriously.
And what can I say about the end... it sucked. No, i don't feel happy seeing Peter swinging though new york knowing he now has no one.
I can't see this as a new start because this is not the Moment Peter became spiderman.
Peter was already spiderman, homecoming proved that when we saw Peter learning he didn't need the suit to be a hero. He lost Ben, he blamed him self for that, he already felt the pain every other spidermen felt. There was no point in Peter losing everyone so that he could understand what being Spiderman means, because he already knew.
(IMO the spell doesn't make sense... why strange didn't go with the original spell? If he made everyone forget about Spiderman, the villains from other universes wouldn't come neither. In this movie Strange was literally dumb to agree with every nonsense plan of Peter)
I don't have a lot else to say, because I refuse to watch this movie ever again. They ruined Peter's character, and if what I heard from Spiderman 4 rumours is true... then they will have ruined him even more: They want Gwen to be the new love interest of Peter, but that doesn't make any sense. Peter decided to not tell the truth to MJ because he didn't wanted to Risk her life again, BUT he's willing to risk another life all over again? No i cannot accept that.
MCU really said fuck off and decided to bet everything on the cameos

Across the Spiderverse is an almost perfect movie and i'll never not be unbeliavably grateful that it exists but a lot of the fandom takes make me wanna unironically gatekeep it.Please stop making the fat jewish guy sexually harrass the brown latino man as comedy and feminizing the indian boy who's a literal jock because he's a ray of sunshine and shut the fuck up about how the homeless teen trans girl with an abusive dad is an abuser too for having realistic traits for her age and how the kid who's entire point of his character is being a black punk teenager is an adult Ackstually because he's tall and a team parent,i'm about to start throwing not only hands but also large objects

To me Hobie being a mature teenager instead of an adult is in the same sitch as Gwen being trans instead of a trans ally.Often you see people say Hobie is an adult because that's what the Spiderverse crew originally planned like how you see people also often saying Gwen was originally cis so she still is but it makes a lot more sense both in the story and from an irl context for them to be a kid who was just forced to grow up too fast and a teen trans girl
The argument that Hobie 'acts nothing like a teenager' is literally a lie based off nothing and i know this because i've befriended a lot of black teens through the fandoms i'm in and some of us have gotten so close that we consider eachother family and the ones who're traumatized,be it by abusive parents or something else, have the exact same personality as him and he even reminds me of myself when i was in high school if i'd been more outgoing.Because that's just the thing-Hobie isn't supposed to be a NORMAL teenager,he's supposed to be a black traumatized one because that's who he's rep for, just like how Gwen is supposed to be rep for TRANS teen girls instead of cis ones so that's why she dosen't act or look like a cis girl either
The reason Hobie does stuff like extreme rebellion and direct action and even underaged drinking(see the pub line)and takes the parent friend role in the Spiderband is that he had his childhood almost entierly taken away from him but still has traits of a teen like getting along best with people his age and his sense of humor is that at the end of the day,he's still a child mentally and physically. The reason Gwen has a trans flag with 'protect trans kids' on it in her room and her dad has a trans flag patch on his jacket and the crew adjusted her design to give her stronger features and had her say 'People only know half of who i am' is that they wanted to take her accidental trans coding from her previous in incarnations and make it canon for presentation
That's one of the biggest goal's of Spiderverse:Representation. They choose to make Miles the protag because he's afrolatino and took the racist writings from his comics and fixed it by making it accurate to us irl, they changed Pavitr's costume to perfectly reflect his indian heritage, they wrote Rio as exactly like irl afrolatina moms and made Jessica black and Margo a member of the Spiderband to show black women onscreen.Obviously there's flaws in the writing like what they did to Peni(Like making her go from Nge-inspired to moefiying her)and i'll never not critique them but are Hobie being just an adult and Earth 65 Peter being the trans one really the better options and also the ones that makes the most sense? Are they really?

Baby is 𝙁𝙐𝙇𝙇 of rage.
I'm convinced that he has a lot of difficulty managing his anger issues. Reading between the pages several times I got sick, it must have been so difficult to hold back such a great anger that consumes you from within. The fact that Noir is driven by so much resentment that, as soon as he got his powers, he immediately went on the attack, without thinking about anything else, makes me shiver. How his youth prompted him to be dismissive of danger, so much so that he directly challenged it.
Baby suffered too much, I would recommend to him excellent painkillers for the stomach (stress gastritis are the worst).

Hello!! I love your blog so much!
I wanted to ask you for whenever you get a chance, why do you think Hobie doesn't like Peter B? Do you think he knew about Peter B's relationship to Miles since before The Spider Society was created and was disappointed with him not defending Miles somehow? Or something else? I find it hella interesting that Hobie DID only have something to say about Peter B but not Miguel despite everything happening in that scene.
Thank you! 💖 Absolutely.
I feel like Hobie without a doubt knows everything about what happened. And he dislikes Peter B. because unlike Gwen - he doesn't have an excuse. And she does.
And that's why
Peter B. Parker is far more toxic of a person and a mentor to Gwen than Jess could EVER be. a.k.a Peter's influence on Gwen, his trust of Miguel, and 'Why was Jessica Gwen's mentor to begin with?'
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[An analysis where I yell about the fact that Peter B. left Gwen homeless instead of opening his house to her. And how he didn't step up to be her mentor. And why Hobie Brown should hit him with a guitar.]
Am I saying that Jessica Drew is basically innocent. I might be. _____________________________________________
Peter B. Parker joined the society before Gwen, because we see him with Miguel when his daughter dies. Let's keep that in mind.
Gwen is adopted into the society as an emergency recruit - based solely on the fact that she's homeless. Had her father not shot at her, Miguel and Jess probably would've left her there with him, and she wouldn't have joined.
So, Gwen joined specifically to escape homelessness. She didn't know they didn't know about the Spider-verse and the Society's distaste for Miles until later.
Imagining what that must've been like for Gwen is wild.
I bet she was delighted to see Peter B. I bet her first thought was "Where's Miles? Peni's here, you're here, I'm here, Where's Miles?"
Peter and Miguel probably had to be the ones to tell her why Miles wasn't there. Peter probably had to help Miguel convince Gwen, otherwise, how else would get her SO on board? Who is she gonna believe more, Jess telling her Miles is a mistake -
or Peter telling Gwen Miles is a mistake?
And I imagine she'd be looking at Peter like '??? What do mean????? You know Miles, this Miguel dude doesn't. Peter wtf????'
Peter was probably a HUGE influence on Gwen staying in the society and accepting their propaganda around Miles. He was the only adult she knew in a strange futuristic society. Peter was probably smiling and happy to see her, and because she trusted him and he trusted Miguel - that probably fed into Gwen trusting Miguel.
So, One reason I think Hobie hates him is his loyalty to Miguel and that influence on Gwen.
Secondly, I think it's also that Hobie knows everything that has happened from beginning to end.
Hobie's first line to Miles - "This the yungun-" implies that Gwen has told him about Miles. And I'm assuming that also includes their first meeting - as well as the other Spider-people.
Gwen met Miles and Peter at the same time, and in telling Hobie this - he learns a lot about Peter B he didn't know before. Hobie met Peter B. through Miguel. Whether he knew Peter knew Miles personally before Gwen and told him - we don't know. But he knew Peter through the Society. And Gwen came later.
Before - Peter was probably just an annoying dad at HQ. But now, Hobie suddenly had context about him. Coming from someone he cares about - Gwen. Not only do Gwen and Peter know each other - but Peter ALSO knows Miles (the Original Anomoly on Campus) and he's not sticking up for EITHER of them?
I feel like as soon as Gwen told him about Peter knowing Miles - Hobie would hate his guts.
From Hobie's POV:
Gwen has an excuse. She didn't know about Miles until after she joined, she can't leave or else she'll be homeless, and the ONE adult she knows is completely 100% in Miguel's pocket.
I feel like Peter B. is soo much more dangerous and influential to Gwen than Jessica could ever be.
And the fact that he had months to step up and mentor her but just..didn't. That speaks volumes.
Sure, Gwen admires Jess. But Gwen knows Peter, she trusts him to be a person to fight for good, because they'd done it together before. She's scared, she's alone, and she's found one person she trusts. And he says to trust Miguel.
That would absolutely be more powerful than anything Jessica could possibly do or say in my opinion.
I feel like that's something that the fandom just ignores. Peter is there, all the time. Anytime Jess is pressuring Gwen - shouldn't he be the one to watch out for her?
But when he's yelling and throwing things at Gwen it's "Aww chill out Miguel - hold my baby, you're so uptight."
Dude. Defend her.
You can't tell me "Peter didn't know that Miguel yells at kids-" OH? So where was he when Miguel and Jessica where probably disciplining her for months. Gwen walks in expecting to be yelled at, so it's not like its a rare thing.
Peter knows Miguel yells at Gwen.
PETER LITERALLY COUL'DVE JUST HAD GWEN MOVE IN WITH HIM!!!! HE HAS A HOUSE!!!!!
But instead he let her be HOMELESS, and sleep at Hobie's house.
That's. Not okay. Peter entirely in the wrong on so many levels that Jessica isn't even in the picture anymore.
I think Hobie would HATE Peter's guts. Because he has had every chance to call Miguel out, to protect Gwen, to look out for her - hell, why isn't HE her official mentor? Why isn't he the one asking her for mission reports. Instead of passing it off to the pregnant black women she's known for less than six months?
Everyone is like "Oh, Jess is so mean. She treats Gwen so mean-"
She's doing her job. That's what she sees it as. If Gwen wanted comfort from an adult - she should have Peter there for her.
But he wasn't. He expected Jessica to do that for some reason. A pregnant woman who Gwen just met.
He could've housed her. But he didn't do that. He expected Hobie to do that.
Peter saw Gwen come in homeless, scared, and depressed. And what did he do - he didn't try to help her. He hold her to trust Miguel. An adult.
And then he walks around like father of the year with Mayday - when he can't even step up for Gwen OR Miles? Couldn't even offered her a bed, or actually tell Miguel to not raise his voice at a teenager.
He didn't. But hold the baby.
I'm surprised that Hobie ain't approach Peter like - "Gwen HAS to be here, you don't. Jess and Miguel don't know Miles. YOU DO. Why shouldn't I hit you with the guitar right now? Answer quickly."
You already know Hobie don't play that. He's being nice for Gwen's sake.
'Humbling Reality Spider-man' Indeed.

philosophy student peter who forces the avengers to sit down and read oedipus for their monthly “book club” and at the end they make a family tree because of how ridiculous it is.
“ does that make his brother in law his… uncle? ”
“ he had sex with his uncles sister? ”
“ no it was his MOM— wait. ”
( it doesn’t work out, they end up burning the books and the family tree, peter isn’t allowed to recommend books after that. )

sometimes i just think about how peter gets to mourn aunt may's death with people there to comfort him while ben had to listen in from the roof. man went through the existential trauma of learning all his memories aren't real and someone else is living the life he thought he had and still manages to find the strength to make a new life for himself. then doesn't even have anyone to support him as he watches someone else get to share his mother figure's final moments.
like oh my gosh??? i know clone saga got really messy because marvel refuses to allow peter to grow up so they keep re-traumatizing him to force him to regress and stagnate, but when it hits it h i t s

Attention attention Irondad writers!
Tumblr media
ahem
I was just thinking
You know what would be cute as hell?
✨ An Irondad spinoff writing exchange ✨
Like, hear me out!
There are so many great fics out there! And there are lots of great writing exchanges already, I know. We have mix-ups and pirates and rewrites, but ... here's the thing,
For so many fics, I really just want to know what happens next!
Like, sure the story is finished and it wouldn't make sense for that fic to keep going. But why can't we have a spinoff fic based in that world? A fic of a fic, if you will?
I think it would be super cute if we could like, cobble together a list of fics that absolutely deserve a spinoff and y'all could pick straws and do your writing magic.
Just a few extra scenes from a different writer, letting us linger in the OG writer's creative world a bit more. Not quite canon to the OG fic but also not not canon. A spinoff. 🎤💥
(right off the top of my head, for example
I want to live in the world of @losingmymindtonight's "The Reinvention of Tony Stark" for so much longer it causes me physical pain
I want spinoffs of the new realities in @iamallyetnotatall's "Turning Tables" chapter 59 and 60 so bad it makes me feral
goldenambedo's "When Peter Forgot What Day It Was" what happened next, dude???
@fluencca's "Hi, Everyone" lives rent free in my mind! please someone tell me how that battle went down!
these are just examples. But I feel like this could be a thing!)
Could it be a thing? Thoughts???

Here to remind you how Tony was unfocusing his gaze 'cause of the pain he felt while probably struggling to recognize what was happening around him and who was the person in front of him, but as soon as he heard "it's me, it's Peter" he immediately focused on him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And while he couldn't find the force to speak, my theory is that he didn't do it also because he didn't know what to say to make the kid stop crying, to make the pain go away.
He knew what to do with Pepper and with Rhodey, their reactions were so part of their characters: Rhodey and Tony didn't need to share a word, they have been friends since ever and they understand each other without the need to talk; Pepper and Tony both smiled at each other, to reassure the other that everything and everyone will be fine.
With Peter? I think Tony not speaking was also in character. He didn't almost speak when Peter was dying, he didn't know what to do. He tried to comfort him when he said "you're alright", but as soon as things got worse he just stood there in shock, without never taking his eyes off him while Peter was crying and begging him to do something.
The same happens here:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the photos you can't catch it very clearly, but if you watch the complete scene you can see how Tony is not taking his eyes off him and -even when Pepper is there and is trying to take him away- he's trying to calm him down with his eyes, because that's Peter, the kid he lost and that he found five years later just to lose him again. I don't know if I'm the only one, but I almost saw panic in his eyes, it's like he was scared about Peter not being okay and about him not saying a word again. That's why he whispered kid once he wasn't in his gaze anymore, he wanted to see him one last time, to make sure to reassure him like he did with Rhodey and, soon, with Pepper. To make Peter sure that he will be fine even without him.

To explain the problem with how the Atsv fandom deals with Hobie a lot and sometimes with Gwen too............Hobie and Gwen have certain expectations put on them as a slightly older black character and a female character who's the male mc's love interest.Hobie is expected to be overtly sexual and uncommited to his partners('I hate labels' was him being nonbinary, please be fucking serious)and have a huge mean edge to him or either a caretaker to the Spiderband with no personality and stories of his own and Gwen is expected to be a 'normal' straight girlfriend-Hence all the emphasis put on her being a girl and Miles a boy even when it dosen't fit-including the toxicity frequent in white ones with black boyfriends specifically(that's what 'snowbunny' means btw)and her experiences as a friendless abuse victim who's trans and was kicked out by her cop dad for doing activism isn't something that you can ignore, because GWEN can't ignore it either and neither can Hobie with his own lived antiblackness and adultification that are inherently intertwined with eachother
Gwen wasn't written to be a stereotypical hashtag quirky cis white girl with no real problems besides wanting the guy to like her back,Gwen was CANONICALLY written as a usual TRANS girl and those are absolutely different because i known both closely and she reminds me infinitely more of tgirls who're pastel softgirls for gender validation instead of white woman fragility and the only reason her and Margo weren't a trio with Hobie pre-Miles is the same reason Peter B didn't come with Gwen to visit Miles and it's that writers wanted to isolate them from eachother to emphasize Ghostflower as if they didn't pull it off just fine in the first movie and when the only weak points in the second one are FROM them doing that and if you think about it for 5 seconds you'd realize that Margo and her have every reason to love eachother so much and hang out.And Hobie has plenty of interesting traits and potential even without his comics lore and he never shows interest in sex-Rightfully so,because this is a fucking children's franchise!!!-and any 'vibes' adult Hobie bullshitters got was them being creeps who can't turn off horny mode and you can just say you don't ship Ghostpunk and Punkflower instead of making a fool of yourself by denying how much mutual romantic interest and chemistry Hobie has with Gwen and Miles
And y'all WILDIN' if you actually think Hobie's Team Dad status to the Spiderband is something that takes zero toll on him but i know for a fact it eventually does and he tries to hide it because he feels guilty but they find out and let him breakdown and take care of him too starting from then on because he's not their ACTUAL Dad,he's a 17 year old and he's their best friend and that's what best friends DO.Gwen ain't a pick me either, she's a trans legend who didn't magically turn cis when she started passing contrary to how y'all think transfemininity work and Hobie didn't 'adopt' her,him taking her in was intersectionality and solidarity between black people and trans women which has an extremely important history in punk culture and deadass one of the first thing's i learned when i started my research after i decided to go pastel punk. You all look dumb as hell with these janky ass takes, especially those random hate comments i'm always seeing on Hobie x Spiderband posts and the defenses towards the cisfeminization of Gwen and don't even get me started on the Switfie allegations as if Hobie isn't obviously a The Cure fan and Gwen a Tv Girl one,and if you want minority characters to be written offensively with no depth so bad,go back to watching Danny Phantom and Miraculous Ladybug and leave Hobs and Gwendy tf alone!!!!!

Do people lack empathy and appreciation for superheroes in fiction ?
So ... Today I remembered a day when I went into a new library close to where I lives and when one of the seller offered to inform me about anything I needed about the book in the library, I started asking about Batman and Spider-man comics, which are my favorite (along the Batman/Super-man cross over, the Justice league, the spider-verse and when Spider-man also have cross-over with deadpool and x-men)
And at some point I started talking about how I wish that I could find comics about parallel stories of Batman and Spider-man that I once found and read online, and where the heroes aren't getting traumatized and tormented non-stop and can still enjoy happy and silly moments with their loved ones. Because this is something that started bothering me in the main Amazing spider-man comics continuity happening on earth 616, and the last main Batman serie comics which started in 2016 (I don't remember the name of the earth from that serie, Earth-one I think)
And then I thought about Miraculous Ladybug, about how the ML writters seem to go out of their way to make Marinette and Adrien suffer, while the narrative seems to also set a lot of the blame on Marinette when she doesn't deserve all that pain and hate.
So I asked the seller why superheroes authors couldn't give more a more balanced life to heroes characters, with their downfall but also their happy moments, and why it seems like things always end badly for famous heroes like Spider-man and Batman. Can you guess what he replied to me ?
"Les gens aiment voir les héros se relever, mais ils aiment encore plus les voir sombrer".
Traduction "People love to see heroes rise again, but they love to see them sink more"
And I was like : "0_0 .. WTF ?!! Why would people be so heartless and cruel enough to want to see good heroes get tormented non stop ? How can it motivate anyone to be heroic if the more famous fictitious superheroes constantly get beaten down for trying to do the right thing ?"
That's a depressive reality really. Fortuntaelly I' not the only one who's tired of seeing heroes like Peter Parker and Bruce Wayne be miserable and walking trauma mess, some people on Tumblr would also like to give those two a more happy ending.
Just like I'm sure many of us would love to see Marinette not being constantly threatened to have her life destroyed and ruined by secrets she feels forced to keep because no one ever tells her otherwise, or by jealous psycopath supervillains who have nothing better to do in their life than being poor excuses of human beings.
We've since got the confrmation that season 6 of Miraculous is gonna hurt more than season 5, and to me it means that maybe some of my worst fears about Lila's future strategies to ruin Marinette and Ladybug's lives may turn out to be true 0_O
Lila/Cerise made it very clear at the end of Re-creation that she was gonna go Marinette with ill-meaning intentions, and the psycopath liar may unfortunatelly be half successfull to make Marinette's miserable by the end of season 6 if the ML writters want to satisfy all of those who like to see heroes suffer beyond their breaking point T_T
