figured i'd share my WIP - yknow how I keep talking about "finding the limit of how many PJO ocs one person can have" and coming up with names/divine ancestors/etc? haha. yeah. behold my romans.

This is my project to create & make references for every Roman in the legion, including filling in blanks in the cohorts. For askblog purposes, because I like consistency. And I think it's fun and makes it more interesting. Yes there is a CHB counterpart to this that is done.

I still need to make more refs - all of the labeled chars here are canon. The rest I made up. This is 5th cohort (purposefully smaller than the other cohorts) through half of 3rd (both are about 30 each since the max per cohort is 40). I also have some misc romans not included here and still need to make references for the rest of the legion & messengers/healers which I have decided is a separate category.

These all will eventually be going on my wiki for my askblog, including the other cohorts once I finish those. Yes you may ask about any of these chars, they do all have names/divine ancestors/lore/etc. I'm having fun I promise.

being a child of the muses

okay okay but hear me out: a pjo-sona that is absolutely useless at everything BUT story-telling and writing

the cabins for each muse are found underneath a large and beautiful pavilion with a stage in the middle. oftentimes, you will find children of the 9 muses taking turns going up on stage and reciting poetry, strumming their lyres, and what have you. on some days, the stage is taken down and replaced with an amateur art gallery or a make-shift observatory for the children of urania. art is the beating heart of these cabins, and the campers are its lifeblood - the vessels that bring the place to life. literally.

the cabins started out as plain. it was the songs and dance of the campers that made the place start blooming with nature, fae, and fauna.

in the cabin of calliope, there lives a single resident - the oldest half-blood among all the 9 cabins. the cabin itself is filled from top to bottom with books, many of which were donations from other campers, or from their own personal collection. it was the closest thing the camp had to a library, really, and plenty of children of the other 8 muses frequented this place when they hit a creative block.

there, they could speak with the cabin's counselor, whose nose could always be reliably found in a book. if they weren't reading a book, then they would be knee-deep in parchment paper, scribbling down ideas as they came.

they were not known for their voice, nor their grace. in fact, their cousins liked to joke that their singing sounded shrill like an owl's. but the counselor didn't mind, and took the teasing in stride. after all, what they lacked in music, they all the more made up for in the art of writing.

they like to write children's books in their free time. just short, and simple ones, long enough to be able to lull young campers to sleep on especially difficult nights. whereas writing used to be an absolutely useless skill in the camp when our character first arrived, they have found themselves filling up a valuable niche in the community.

they tell stories to the young ones, and give advice to those who seek out their destinies. being well-read has made them insightful and wise, and they are often called upon when prophecies are given to help decipher their meanings.

just. an absolutely nerdy bookworm in the middle of all these buff half-bloods getting ready for the next big battle. not having to force themselves into being the warrior they're not. being intrinsically different from everyone but still finding a way to fit in and be loved by their huge dysfunctional family.

Hear me out, but what if the Greek goddess Hera actually met a mortal man who at first was her friend, but they were in a secret relationship, and the man made her feel special in a way Zeus never did and loved and worshiped her the way a husband should.

But then Zeus found out about it and, like the hypocritical, a$$hole he is, he killed the mortal man, and Hera became pregnant with his child. After she gave birth to the child, she hid them away from Zeus and placed them in an orphanage.

(I know that hera would never betray Zeus realistically. This is just a fanfic idea.

She gets distracted really easily and can zone out for a long time if she wanted too

Her fatal flaw is selfishness, she’ll put her safety above everyone else’s and won’t hesitate to leave someone behind if it will allow her to live another day, though she has gotten better with it over time with Percy’s help

Her father and Sally Jackson met in high school and became close friends, they were lovers at one point in college but broke it off mutually and stayed close friends

She doesn’t like eating chocolate unless it’s a desert like cake or cupcakes

Her and Percy made a YouTube channel together when he was 10 and she was 7

The curse of the apollo cabin I want details, seriously it sounds too great to.

YEAHHHH!!!! everyone talks about the Cabin Nine curse but I like to think about the cabins I think were actually cursed by a god; Cabin Seven and Cabin Ten >:D

Cabin Ten is for another time so lets talk ab Cabin Seven!!

The reason for the curse is shaky, I like to think it came from Hades, perhaps over the Oracle and Maria. Maybe Apollo brings up the curse on his Oracle, gets into an argument with Hades that ends with the Apollo Cabin getting cursed. Hades couldn't hurt Apollo, but he could hurt his children!

What is the curse, exactly? It's against the Head Counselor of the Cabin! Specifically, the counselor is destined to die, no matter what they do, no matter how safe they are. They will die. It becomes more prominent during the Titan War with Lee Fletcher and Michael Yew dying just shy of a year apart, but nobody thinks anything of it. Its a war, people are bound to die, right?

If we wanna look at it as a curse in the same strand of the oracle, it could be lifted after Nico is accepted into camp, no longer ostracized.

To add some ✨ spice ✨ I have four head counselors before canon who died/went missing because of the curse >:D

Cecilia Ford, the Counselor ~1992-1996, she was seventeen when she died as a result of a plague that broke out in camp :) also wiped out the entire cabin but we don't talk ab that

Lilian Gray, the Counselor ~1998-2000, she was eighteen when she died during the final chariot race. The Apollo cabin mentions the last time they held the races resulted in three deaths, making it likely that at lest one of them was around for said chariot race. She was the fighter for her team, when she got thrown off her chariot she stabbed herself with her own arrow :)

Riley Wilson, the Counselor ~2000-2001, she was sixteen when she went missing during Capture the Flag alongside another camper. Nobody knows what happened to them (they stumbled across the Myrmekes hill)

Kyrene Dawson, the counselor ~2001-2004, she was twenty when she died during a hellhound attack. She was the first counselor in a while who actually managed to leave camp and died a few months after

also the irony of the current counselors bfs dad having cursed his cabin and technically being the cause of countless of his sibs death :D

Rating Odd Parts of The PJO Fandom I Grew Up On

PJO was a really essential part of my childhood. I started reading the books when I was eight or nine, and I then had a subsequent obsession with them that lasted years. Once I "joined the fandom" at the age of like... 11 ("joined the fandom" as in looking up "Percy Jackson memes" on the family laptop and scrolling through Google Images for hours), it kind of sculpted my image of online interactions and fandom itself.

However!

There are some sides of the PJO fandom that I jumped into headfirst without thinking, just assuming since the people in the screenshots I saw were saying this stuff, EVERYONE in fandom did, and it was normal and okay. Some of them aren't bad, per se, just odd things I've never seen anywhere else. And with the release of Chalice of The Gods, I've taken a trip down memory lane with this fandom. So, without further ado: Rating odd parts of the PJO fandom.

1: Dark Percy. 7/10. Dark Percy was always such a weird phenomenon to me, partially because I just wanted Percy to be happy, but now I kind of get it? I guess it's the angst? I don't really know. I do, however, thanks to Callum, now know how weirdly fun it is to see a normally upbeat and bright main character go absolutely BATSHIT for his girl, so...

2: Toxic, gatekeeping, abusive fanon Percabeth. -10000/10. Ew, ew, ew. Say what you will about actually canon Percabeth being abusive, but the amount of headcanons about Percy telling all the boys at CHB to stay away from Annabeth because "Sweet protective bf" is extremely disturbing.

3: The collective-ish OC "Pearl". 5/10. I swear, in HALF of the OC-themed headcanon I used to see, they would all be about some girl named Pearl. have no problem with the headcanons about Percy's little sister, about a new daughter of Poseidon, so ten points for that. They don't interest me very much, but people seem to like them, so it's fine. However, five points redacted because of how much people ship her with Nico. HE IS GAY.

Do you have an OCs who would have pet frogs?

I have so many pjo ocs that I have one for just about anything at this point. Out of my primary ones though, absolutely. My immediate thought is Archie -

Her entire theme is spiders, of course, as a daughter of Arachne, and that includes being able to talk to spiders. The spiders aren't so much her "pets" but more companions of sorts. She has a lot of tarantula theming in particular - in terms of design, name (her middle name is "Tara" - i was phoning it in when I first named her I will admit), and some powers (yknow how the primary tarantula defense mechanism is flicking irritating hairs off their abdomens at stuff? yeah she can do that, but like, it's her leg hair or whatever). Anyways, some species of tarantulas keep dotted humming frogs as pets to guard their burrows from ants so I think Archie would be a fan of frogs. That is the long-winded explanation.

I'm sure I have other ocs who would have pet frogs but I'd have to sift through my very long list, and most of the others would probably be just be based on vibes rather than anything particularly interesting.
