Curious you said sales almost always go along with consumer happiness can you think of an example of when they did not?

I add the word “almost”, so if the exception comes up I didn’t misspeak. I don’t know of a set where sales did poorly, but market research showed players were overall happy.

The closest are sets where the enfranchised players really liked it, but the rest of the playbase did not. Time Spiral block is an example of this.

Prev anon looking at the examples you put down I think another reason they feel off is 1- something about the shading just feels like they don’t belong? Idk if im making it up but they feel like they don’t belong on the dragons to me. Also almost every dragon doesn’t have their eyes on the front of their head, they’re on the side at least a little, but some of the dragons the buttons are placed front and center on the face no tilt at all (like the obelisk hatchling and the snapper hatchling) and it’s like. That’s not where the eye is on the dragons face

Yes that! They're so flat on the dragon's faces so it only looks good on the dragons with side profiles or slight tilts. Once a dragon has a more head on or dynamic pose it falls apart, and the dragons with either ridges over their eyes or some teeth/gaws near their eyes, it gets worse. Again, I'm really trying to not harsh on anyone who likes it, in fact I've seen some very cute dragons with them(all the little plush dragons are great). But it doesn't universally work which makes it feel a little hallow, but still, not actually too mad because it's a free gift item and not a paid item(or heaven forbid a gem item). I'm just a little bitter as it's been something that the playbase has been asking for forever and the first new unique eye type since the introduction of new eyes, and it's a little flop which makes me fear that we'll never see new unique eyes again ;w;(speaking as someone who's a fan of the eye update and wants more new eye types so badly)

God damn the dbd playbase is so fuckin petty. 3 out of 4 of the survivors dced. One immediately on seeing that I was playing Skull Merchant (coward.) and the other two after I managed to get a kill. The bots played better than the actual people. They fuckin. They would crouch in places that were clearly visible, not even try to avoid my traps, and run straight to hooks. I have Grim Embrace on. I'm being nice. I'm trying not to camp. You make it very difficult when you run in front of my face on the way to the hook when I am trying to leave and give you a chance

the whole tricolour battle removal thing in splat3 is still weird ashell to me bc the devs have rarely implemented changes like that b4? the most they'll do when ppl complain about balancing is just. idk nerf a weapon. or fix a bug.

i say this bc flyfish have been unbelievably overpowered since day 1 and while i STILL doubt they'll ever overhaul them entirely, i feel like it's more likely now with how much frustration the playbase has expressed over them

i think its really interesting that i saw someone mention the decline of the lbp community was aided by the playbase being stretched thin.

For example, majority of LBP1 players migrated to LBP2, then some people migrated to LBP3 but LBP2 was the popular fan favourite game. And then, PS4 had servers for LBP4 running as well as on ps3 for all the games.

I dont think the playerbase being stretched thin was really the issue here. Nor do i think it was even really stretched thin at all

imo it was just a symptom of the playerbase changing interests and growing up. For myself, the issue was not having consoles to play it on anymore. I think the PS4 not being compatible with ps3 did cause some issue tho. especially whenever i want to revisit LBP1\2 i literally cannot get it anywhere

but the PC port of Sackboys adventure may give me hope 

but i still find the original point interesting, and worthy of discussion :0
