Tbh I just thought the new valentines message was Rui still being in his post-OHE honeymoon bliss and wanting to get chocolates for the girls+loids for a change since Emu and Nene have gotten the boys things every year otherwise, plus bonus he gets to go on a date with Tsukasa.

But then a friend pointed out how funny it would be if Rui’s valentines message came after him finding out Nene got tons of chocolate from her classmates and feels the need to compensate.

Tsukasa and Nene are young skilled up-rising stars in both theatre and film industry who both are rapidly growing at an incredible rate due to their natural charisma, their history of already having a quite successful troupe in high school, mixed with both stubborn hard work and willingness/ideas to do insane shit due to being under Rui's direction for so long.

Rui is also an up-rising director who took the world by storm at how innovative his directing is in a field that's lacking in passion recently. Mixed with everything I've stated for Nene and Tsukasa too.

Emu took over the theme park business kind of. She's sharing with her brother's still, who's showing her the ropes and the actual mechanism of how everything works. Shosuke and Keisuke had fully embraced Emu's bright ideas and cheery attitude now, both thanks to working with WxS for so long and Emu showing them how capable she actually is, despite her optimistic naivety. The park is running to be as successful as ever, now Emu finally has power to make the changes she knows her grandpa would be proud of.

Tsukasa, Nene, and Rui often work together on projects which lead their fan community to be merged in a way. It started off divided, with Tsukasa and Nene fans fighting near constantly due to the two coming into the field at the exact same time, but eventually most of the public know that if one is there, the other two won't be that far behind.

Tsukasa, Rui, and Nene often get invited to those fancy parties, (they absolutely do not like it. It's too boring. But they go anyway because they need to build connections and stuff apparently) and every time they have the opportunity to invite a plus one, they drag Emu with. None of them stay at the main hall for long, and they'd drag each other outside to either the balcony or garden and just hang around.

This ALWAYS results in them going viral on some sort of social media, with the press never failing to capture a photo of all four of them hanging about and laughing with each other.

Their work often brings them apart a lot of times, and even though they still meet weekly in the SEKAI, it's just not the same.

So once every year, they all clear their schedules completely for a full week or more so they could go on a holiday together. It doesn't really matter where. They could stay at home a lounge for the whole week for all they care. But they still do it just to physically be there with each other.

(bonus point if they invite other friends too. Saki, Toya, Mizuki, etc)

Again, schedules and overseas work contrast each other a lot of times if they're all working on a project.

But whenever Rui, Tsukasa, and Nene end up home all at once, unplanned, they all collectively decide to just drag Emu to go out with them to their old restaurant that they always go to after a show in high school.

Emu's employees have gotten used to seeing Emu piggyback riding Rui/Tsukasa at full speed leaving the office that they have an entire protocol that Emu and her brothers made for when it happens.

Wondershow would do random livestreams together. Either gaming, or baking, or painting each other's nails. They have no specific genre. They just do it for fun.

Nene would still do singular gaming livestreams still, because it's one of her passions.

We break partially from YouTube's "WeAll SmokeHere" for our nominal primary source for the fourth edition of "COMPILATION MADNESS OVERLOAD." The series debuted on July 29 with "WeAll SmokeHere" on July 29 and No. 2 came from YouTube's "dutchsmokelover" with No. 3 shifting back to "WeAll SmokeHere" on August 16. For No. 4 here, we're back with YouTube but with "Sujal Sujal," which has had a wonderful compilation/assortment going of its own. No. 21 in that series is being brought to you for our fourth installment. So we had our first three editions of our series posted within a 19-day span, then we hit our fans of it with a 29-day pause that ends with this post. Yes, we aim for a somewhat evenly spaced out presentation of our installments and we know we have failed. All we can do is recognize the shortcoming and begin to address it with more diligence toward presenting it more consistently often.

. . . and you are going to see a difference with "Sujal Sujal"'s approach when contrasted to "WeAll SmokeHere" and "dutchsmokelover" 's style in producing their compilations. 'Sujal' goes short and sweet. In this video, there are four scenes, and two of the four are SF SuperStars, Anka (Anna) Zapala all to briefly in the leadoff spot and Only_Yana in the third slot. The other two, Nos. 2 and 4 do not add too much but they do contribute nevertheless.

day 13 - au! shiho is included, alongside the rest of leo/need, tsukasa and a few others

small fandom (this is all self-indulgent anyway) BUT. i've been thinking about a ni no kuni ii au:

Tsukasa as Roland, Saki as Evan. One of the main reasons for this is how each person from Roland's world is connected to one in Evan's. Though I don't think it's ever said, Roland's son is at least implied to be tied to Evan. Roland's son is also implied to have a chronic illness. Throughout the story, he protects and encourages Evan, watching him grow. Evan goes from a timid, frightened former King to the confident ruler of Evermore, a kingdom he founded with Roland, and the boy who united all 5 kingdoms.

Airi as Aranella. I didn't know who to put here, but because Saki looks up to Airi, I thought this would be sweet. Even if Nella does die at the start. It's fine.

Ichika as Tani. I almost picked Shiho because she's also a bit of a stick-in-the-mud with a secret love of cute things (which also matches anessa from dqb2 but anyway.), BUT I decided on Ichika instead. It's implied that she eventually marries Evan, for one thing, but I thought that overall, she just fits better with her extroverted, optimistic nature (fits Saki better, but she's already Evan).

Shiho as Batu. Rather than a parental figure to Ichika, she would be more of a mentor and experienced fighter, both to her and Saki. I have less to say here. In this AU, the way she found Ichika wouldn't be that different. However, rather than stealing from Ichika's dying mother, she'd probably just take her to protect her, though she'd probably be a child or teenager rather than a baby. Plus, she's lonely (and in need of an heir, but that's not important). I do think it would be sweet if she used to be cold, but softened with Ichika.

Honami as Martha. She gets to look after all those little Higgeldies. I just think that would be cute. As a bonus, Kanade and Mafuyu could either live with her, OR be Higgeldies. Either are really sweet.

Miku as Lofty. It's funny.

Rui as Leander, Shizuku as Nerea. Shizuku would be a Queen, Rui would be her chief adviser. They're also in love, which was the main reason. Besides that, Leander is (one of) the most knowledgeable in the party, though it's Bracken whose knowledge is based around machines, as she is from Broadleaf (and her best friend is its ruler).

Bracken as An. I know Nene (with Zip as Rui) or Haruka might've made more sense, but I cannot let this go now. However, it could also be Toya as Leander, Haruka as Nerea, Nene as Bracken and Rui as Zip. Anyway, Bracken as An. That's it.

Akito as himself because I just really wanted him in here, especially where Toya is Leander rather than Rui.

NOW the part I was struggling with: Alisandra and Doloran.

A King isn't supposed to fall in love with his Kingmaker. Doloran did what he never should have. Alisandra reciprocated his feelings and for a while, they were happy. Alisandra, though, was immortal. Doloran wasn't. As a sort of last resort, she attempted to split herself into two and succeeded. One half mortal, the other being the powerful half, which became a great evil, the Horned One. Though she worked with Doloran to defeat it, this was only temporary. She gave up her future with her lover to seal the Horned One away and guard it, though Doloran didn't know this. She was also the one to bring Roland into their world.

Doloran wanted his kingdom, Allegoria, back, as it had been destroyed (sort of). He brought the Horned One back and took souls from across the world so he could begin to rebuild. Basically, he wanted his kingdom and he wanted Alisandra. So, who to pick?

For this one, I went with Mizuki as Alisandra and Ena as Doloran. Mizuki breaking unspoken rules for the woman she loves, then giving everything up to protect her. Ena never knowing this, desperate to return all that she lost, only to lose it again because not only did she not know everything she needed to, but because she was too hurt to care about what she did. It might not necessarily fit their characters, but I think it fits them best (though KanaMafu, AkiToya or MinoHaru could've worked well too imo).

As I said with Akito, Kanade and Mafuyu, the other characters would probably just be themselves. Assuming they're residents of different kingdoms that they can pick up along the way (the side quest characters, that is), here are their kingdoms, including the characters who could be replaced by others:

Ding Dong Dell: Minori, Emu

Goldpaw: Kohane, Toya

Hydropolis: Haruka, An, Shizuku

Broadleaf: Nene, Rui

But there was one more person that, You couldn't put a finger on, But you feel greatly attached to this person.

"Alright, That's gonna be the end of our lesson! And remember to study for our upcoming quiz on Tuesday about Astronomy okay?" You told your students and hearing a bunch of 'yeah' or 'yes'

As you watch your students leave the classroom you start to feel nostalgia rushing thru, Walking around the classroom you sit down at one of the chairs and reminisce your student days

"[F/N].." Someone called your name and smiles at you ".... - Kun!!" You said running to their arms and hugging them

'What?.. you could feel it was someone really important to you yet how could you forget them?'

You stood up walked out of the classroom with your hands in your pockets, Looking out the window you saw students playing outside or doing club activities

You remembered that you would spend hours cleaning the bathroom rather than go to your club—

Clean the bathroom?..

You snapped out of your thoughts and looked up infront, It was the girls bathroom

Why would your feet take you here?

You opened the door and walked in, It looked like any ordinary bathroom, But then you started feeling something eerie in here.. As if something or someone was watching your every move

it was another day’s work in kamone academy, finding the traitor of the seven wonders and helping hanako. nene and kou laid on the floor, sighing, smiling, and somewhat proud of what they’ve done.

the red strings around their pinkies, the ones only hanako saw, seemed a bit brighter than usual, as nene slept and kou rested his eyes for a bit. helping out an apparition was one thing, but being soulmates with one was another thing.

as the girl snored, hanako started at the ceiling and the boy exorcist finally went to sleep.

hanako wondered why he met his soulmate only now, and why when he was living, never had a red string.

the evening announcement started to play..

"it is now 5:30pm.. with the children playing outside.. please carefully make your way back home. i repeat, it is now 5:30pm.. will the children playing outside.. please carefully your their way back home."

amane, or, better known as hanako, had gotten up, and walked into a classroom. he needed to do this. they didn’t deserve this.

grabbing a pair of scissors from one of the desks, and walking back towards the two..

he started with kou. sitting down, grabbing the string that linked the two, the string of fate, and tried to cut it, but the other started to stir, waking up.

"…nn.. hanako?" he asked, looking at the scissors and then at him.

"morning!~" hanako sang, pretending that he wasn’t just trying to cut the string.

"My ideal ending has Hanako reunited with the real Tsukasa from the house. Then the three (Along with Mitsuba) of them are able to be resurrected. It's not a perfect ending. Mitsuba can't go home to his mother and going back to school would be difficult, Tsukasa never mentally aged past five, unlike Amane (so they would either be no longer twins, or Tsukasa would be a child in a much older body) and Hanako's PTSD from living with the sadistic Not-Tsukasa would still be there. ok wxs designs are out and well. i really like nenes!! its very cute and suits her well. also NENEROBOOOOO shes so adorable i love her so much… emu’s outfit is cute too but im not too huge on it. i wasnt too big on wxs miku at first but now that im looking at it more its nice & i like it :3 tsukasa is. um. Well its not as bad as it could be! plus he kept the flag so bonus points for that. i dont think i can properly pass a judgment on rui’s outfit bc we straight up cant even see the front but like. at least his coat doesnt look as ugly as the old one? i guess?? idk overall i dont think theyre necessarily bad or anything but they’re definitely my least favourites so far… very sorry wxs im sure your new designs will grow on me eventually

Better late than never! Without further ado, here are my picks! They aren’t in a strict ranked order, though I put my big faves nearer to the bottom.

(Bonus shoutout to Chihayafuru season 3 (review here), which I mainly didn’t pick for this because it technically only finished in 2020, plus I didn’t want the list to be like, only winter season. The karuta kids are still very good though!) 

Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle

Top-tier comedy comfort food about a princess who repeatedly blows her demon captors’ expectations out of the water (and blows stuff up in general) as she wreaks havoc in her single-minded quest for a good night’s sleep. Fantastical, colorful, silly and occasionally heartwarming, this is the perfect show to chucklingly relax to in bed before drifting off to dreamland yourself.

My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!

Katarina Claes is reincarnated as the villainess in her favorite otome game (dating sim) and panics when she remembers that only bad endings await the villainess character. In her efforts to escape her grim fate, she obliviously ends up seducing everyone around her- pretty boys and pretty girls alike! She’s even got the game’s heroine falling for her!

This is another anime that functions as pure comfort food, from it’s high energy theme song and fun comedic antics, to its charming but incredibly dense lead- and it has the nice, much-sought-after bonus of being a relationship hijinks comedy that’s inclusive towards queer characters rather than tearing them down. The plot itself and dramatic bits aren’t that impressive, but it make up for it with a fun premise, strong ensemble cast, and lots of smiles.

Ascendance of a Bookworm Part 2

This season took the tale of a bibliophile reincarnated as a peasant girl in a medieval fantasy world where the books are too expensive for her to afford and expanded it far beyond the original premise, taking a broader look at the society she lives in and how fundamentally broken it is. We watch our main character grapple with the harmful systems propped up by the nobility and discover just how dangerous it is for her to navigate them as a commoner, even a “special one”. You can’t tear down unjust hierarchies so easily, turns out. The nuanced attention the story pays to this balancing act of Myne trying to make some positive changes while not getting herself killed in the process is what makes this season a compelling watch. The season’s quietly beautiful finale that finally lets us take a peek at the baggage Myne is carrying from her previous life is also just a stellar production from top to bottom- it’s visually and emotionally arresting.

 Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun/Toilet Bound Hanako-kun

A lovely ghost story full of heart, humor and intrigue. It follows a girl named Nene as she befriends a ghost boy in her school and discovers a whole supernatural world. While there are some caveats to be aware of, this anime made my heart sing with its compelling ghost drama, atmospheric mythological adventures and super fun character dynamics. Not to mention it’s bold visual designs- while the animation is limited, this show is awesome to look at. This is Exactly My Stuff and I’d like it injected directly into my veins.

Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!

A visual feast of wonderful animation that features characters with bold, distinctive designs and equally bold, distinctive and lovable personalities, Keep Your Hands off Eizouken is both an anime about awesome girls on a journey of creative triumph, and a strong example of creative triumph itself. A great show I whole-heartedly recommend, it’s sure to be remembered for years to come.

A silver-eyed huntress caught up in a world that you battle either through combat or (mostly) rap battles, and is found by a dumbass rapper, his cute girlfriend, and his still-in-good-terms ex. What will happen?

(psst I'll tell you what I think will happen)

Boyfriend challenges Ruby in a rap battle. Like a polite dummy she is, she confusingly obliges

Does she win? that's up to you. But personally, I think she would've lost (the main factor being she doesn't know what was going on).

Having nowhere to go, Ruby follows them instead. In hope that they'd guide her to get back home.

Boyfriend did not do what she hoped. Instead, he dragged her into MORE of his rap battles / chaotic shenanigans

It had taken a LOT for Ruby to control herself from attacking weird figures and remind herself that she's not in Remnant. (Plus, doing so make her company seem very stressed... so it's best not to make them doubt her intentions)

Ruby occasionally confuses Girlfriend with Yang due to their similar hairstyles and relax personalities (making her miss her and the team :(( )

Pico and Ruby are always tense with each other. Had BF and GF not been there to catch their attention, they would've fought combat-style

But when danger finally comes after them, Pico and Ruby work together and make a kickass team. They become a bit more relaxed with each other after that.

After some time, Ruby loosens up, forgets about her pressures of being a leader, and has fun for once. She joins in their chaotic fun shenanigans, even if it gets them LOTS of trouble

Having to get the gist of the rap battles and finally relaxing, Ruby's much more confident with rapping! Like what you said, she'd be very good at it! Better than Boyfriend? well, that's up to debate...

Bonus stuff (because I love crossovers, Anon):

Had Pico introduce Ruby to Nene and Darnell, they'd be in AWE

Nene would be fascinated with Ruby's scythe, having to ask tons of questions about it and beg for a demonstration

Basically, Ruby and Nene bond over WEAPONS

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DON'T USE DUST FOR YOUR WEAPONS?!" Ruby gasps, making Pico, Nene, and Darnell confused

Ruby will tell them stories about her time in Remnant. The Grimm, Her time in Beacon, etc. Boyfriend and Girlfriend attentively listen, but it is unknown whether they actually comprehend what she's saying

She can STILL use her semblance! she even uses it to save them a few times from projectiles and harm. BF and GF found it really cool upon seeing it. Nene would be in awe. Darnell would be confused as to how it works (like dude?? where do the roses come from-). Pico got a bit unsettled from it.

Boyfriend likes her to the point he starts speaking to her in actual english instead of beep boops. But when he did it the first time, it shook Ruby so much she tripped

Ruby feels she'd be in this world for quite a while, so she scavenges some comfy clothing to wear to fit in.

Thaaaat's all I got for now

TLDR: Ruby gets dragged into BF and GF's shenanigans (like Pico did). She's worried to bits at first but later loosens up, starts being her bubbly self again, and enjoys their company!

Since I have no self restraint, I’m writing another prompt/one shot.

Essentially, normal girl Lia (or some OC) whose a big fan of DC comics and the like ends up in a weird inter dimensional accident and ends up in the DC universe (it can be a mix of canon because fuck canon, up to you).

But, where did Lia end up exactly? Fucking Gotham.

The moment she realizes this is decides: Nope. Nah. Nada. No sir-y. This is NOT happening. Fuck this. I might end dying, or, worse, BECOME A FUCKING MAIN CHARACTER IN THE BAT CLAN. NAH. HELL NO.

Lia decides that, no, she will not involve herself in the Bat Clan/Wayne’s at all. Nope. Nah. Too much drama. Too much angst. Too much fucking skin tight suits and my poor Pan heart can’t TAKE all the HOT, RIPPED hero’s like what the fuck.

Now, this can play out in a variety of ways:

Lia is, say, around the same age as one of the Batboys. It can be any of them, up to you. Now, she some how ends up in Gotham Acdemy and begrudgingly befriends them. Cue angst (especially if its Jason. Considering in canon, if Jason survives he becomes Red Robin thats all I know lmao). If Lia is friends with the second Robin, it’d bring up the deliemma of: does she tell him that he’s gonna fucking die and then come back to life. Oh and, she’s actually from an alternate world were everyone thats like a superhero/vigilante is a fictional character. Honestly, if done well, can definitely stir the feelings of the poor saps who read the moral deliemma of Lia. Now, who is Lia? Someone who doesn’t want to get involved. If she avoids Jason in the beginning, does she have doubts and wants to warn Batman of Jason impending death or not? Like, that sort of shit panic attack inducing. There’s a lot of things you guys can do to torture not only Lia, but also the readers who might be like: “TELL HIM! TELL HIMMMMM!!!” or, “fuck, even I don’t know what I’d do” and etc. There’s a lot of leeway.

They are grown, and are in college (let’s say the events of Death in The Family happened and everything surrounding Red Robin striking out to find Bruce whose lost in time). This Lia is much older, recently graduated from college and currently interns for Wayne Enterprises. See, Lia is just another intern in a global colgomerate cooperation, there’s no way she’d ever run into any of the Wayne’s. None at all. But. But. She does. Some how she becomes the Executive Assistant to Tim (he once saw how she managed an entire fucking department’s schedule even though a group of people spontaneously quit. She was able to somehow salvage that shit in under three hours. And, Tim might or might not have fallen slightly in love with her—). Lia, now, a fresh 20-something year old, is now the Executive Assistant to another 20-something year old who happened to run one of the most rich and powerful companies in the entire world holy shit. Now, we follow the adventures of Lia, whose now one of the most powerful persons in the entire company (and proxy the world, I guess 🤷🏻‍♀️). Lia, let’s say, is a fucking god at manipulating people, making connections, accounting and management, and also a Very Tired Recently Graduate of GU. She, cannot, and will not deal with the constant bullshit that the Bats pull regularly. So, Lia can either passive aggressively hint that, yeah Tim, you definitely got that broken arm from a golf accident. Oh hey, I also heard the Red Robin foughy Killer Croc and also sported a broken left arm like you! What a coincidence, right? And she’d say this with a straight face. Tim knows that she knows, and Lia knows that Tim knows and yeah. Alternatively, she could outright tell him: “look, Tim, I swear to god, if you put off another meeting without a day notice just because some gang member got the better of you.” “Wait, gang member—?” “—do NOT interrupt me. Look, I know Bruce Wayne is Batman. Not the whole, ‘Bruce Wayne and Batman are the same person! The butts match!’ type of thing. I know he is Batman, you Red Robin, Dick Grayson is Nightwing, Red Hood is the weirdly alive Jason Todd, etc etc. There’s no point in feigning the fact that I don’t know. Because, I do.” They stare at eachother for a bit, and Tim falls just a little more in love. “How... Actually it’s dumb to ask you how you know, but, how long?” “Good tactic to ask me how long I’ve know instead of how I know. But, to answer your question: I’ve know since I was around...” THE FRAME FREEZES now, should Lia say 8, since, technically, she’s know since she was 8 that Bruce Wayne is Batman, considering the whole parallel universe thing. Or, does she say 18, the age in which she arrived into this world? Now, that decision can prompt many things to happen. For one, if Lia says 8, Tim is gonna be so awestruck and also be dry curious. If 18, Tim is still amazed (that she knows at all). Either answer would also illicit this response: “...you’ve known for so long, yet never told anyone?” Lia shakes her head. “You guys have a secret identity for a reason. Plus, I’m not in the business of becoming a vigilante or whatever. I’ve tried my best to steer clear of all of that, in all honesty.” “Huh. Makes sense. Wait. Then... why did you start working at WE, if you knew our identities?” Lia stares at him like he’s grown three heads. “Dude. This is WE. One of the most powerful companies out there, why wouldn’t I work here? But, the ither fact of the matter is that I didn’t expect to become your fucking Executive Assistant. Like, I couldn’t just deny the offer, my mother would’ve disowned my ass the second she heard I turned down such a prestigious position.” Lia shuddered. “Fuck, I can hear her curse me out in like, five different languages.” Let’s also say, at one point or another, Lia’s mother arrives, and say, is the most terrifying person Tim has ever met (and Tim’s faced off against Ra’s al Ghul, a functionally immortal man with a fucking army of highly trained assassin at his disposal).

Lia is tame honest to god tame compared to her mother (if her mother is like, 5’3”, that’s even more hilarious tbh). Essentially, if Lia’s older and somehow become Executive Assistant to Tim (or Bruce, because, fuck canon) it would be so god damn funny (read “The Executive Assistant To Batman” in which Tim nene became Robin but still knows the identities of the various Gotham vigilantes. Oh, and, he’s the Executive Assistant to Batman. It’s so fucking hilarious and y’all gotta check it out. It’s on AO3).

Number 2, is a lot more light hearted compared to the moral deliemma of Number 1 (as, is Lia is the same age as Robin!Jason, and knows that he’s gonna die, but she also doesn’t want to get involved with the vigilantes presents a very large problem). Number 1 is great for angst and a character study for this OC. Number 2, is a more light hearted, fun scenario (as it avoids the can of worms called “Do I Warn the Bats of Robin!Jasons impending death or not because I honestly don’t want to get involved with the Bat.”.

I, personally, would love to read Number 2 (please make Lia, or whatever OC, a god damn Tired of Your Bullshit, amazing assistant to the CEO of WE, competent af and very, Very Tired of the Bats BS, and, PR is Going To Skin Me Alive and Roast Me Over A Flame). Maybe some drama, angst sprinkled in (there’s the blatant fact that, Lia is a completely different world. One that has superhero’s, aliens, magic and so, so much more. The fact that she’s in her doppelgänger’s body could cause some dissociation/body dysphoria and that sort of stuff. It’s a great opportunity for a character study for Lia/your OC).

Regardless of you choose 1 or 2, the basic premise is:

Some rando kid (or young adult, whichever strikes your fancy) who loves to read Batman/DC in general. Ends up in some weird ass accident that lands them in the DC universe, specifically Gotham. Everything about their pervious life and the life in his world is the same (or not, up to you), only difference is that there’s an alien powered by the Sun and that cannot he injured (unless it’s by a glowing green rock). They decide, pretty early on, that they want nothing to do with the vigilantes of Gotham (which also means they have to avoid the Wayne’s and Co, which should be ways right? Right?? Gotham is really big, I’ll probably only ever see them in passing, I’ll be fine—). But, the universe said, LOL, nope. And they end up befriending the Wayne’s somehow. The rest? Up to you. If they befriend Robin!Jason they have to cope with the moral deliemma of getting involved to save his life or not. Or, maybe this is the world where Dick is still Robin. Do we save Jason early on, or not? What about Tim? Cass? Stephanie? Or, what if, they end up in a world in which Jason died and came back, Bruce came back from being lost in the time stream and Damian is now Robin.

Essentially: OC ends up in the DC universe, specifically Gotham. Decided not to ever get in involved with the Vigilantes/Wayne’s. However, the universe said nope and they become friends with one of the Bats/Waynes regardless. Now, how the fuck do they cope?

BONUS: Lia manages to avoid the Wayne’s/Vigilantes of Gotham completely. How? She ends working for LexCorp. As Lex Luthors Executive Assistant (basically the same way as she became the Executive Assistant to Tim). Now, she has to cope with the fact that she works as the Executive Assistant for Lex fucking Luthor of all people. She can hear her mother shaking her head in Disappointment™️. She hates the universe. Also, Lex Luthor is pretty open about his Evil, Bastard Schemes with Lia for whatever reason (much to Lia’s utter fucking chargin). She discreetly sends info about these Evil, Bastard, Devious plans to the Bats. Cue her realizing that, to ensure Luthor doesn’t suspect her, she’s gotta get GOOD at hacking and computer science. And get good she does. Like, her utter fucking Done-ness over Luthors Supervillain ways and her wanted to never be found out by the Bats is like taken to Infinty in the 10 dial scale. Somehow, she manages to both avoid suspicion from Luthor (cue intense moments in which Luthor is talking to her, and he’s speaking in a weird direct way that makes Lia think he found out and she mentally plans for her subsequent “death” and fleeing of the country and when Luthor finishes his sentences it just him praising her or something else innocuous. Lia felt like the sun was lifted off her shoulders.) She’s always on edge. Her hair is slowly turning grey. Luthor notices and makes a comment and Lia simply laughs while making a underhand comment about how Luthors bald so he doesn’t need to deal with greying hairs. Lia stops laughing realizing oh shit I just insulted my boss in the most underhand way. What ghe fuck. But Luthor just laughs, much to Lia’s relief. Her hair is still greying from the stress. Anyways, she inadvertently becomes a techno vigilante that can rival the famed Oracle (let’s say, for the sake of this prompt, Lia’s code name is Reaper because she was drunk and apparently in the mind of her 13 year old self when she came up with it). Reaper’s name is slowly growing, as Lia does some other stuff with her new found skills in hacking. She mostly helps the Bats by giving them crucial info on Luthors dealings and the like.

One day, she realizes, that, oh shit. I became the one thing swore I’d never become. What type of Shakespearean shit is my life—

If someone does the situation in which Lia/their OC becomes Luthor Executive Assistant and then inadvertently becomes a Vigilante themselves because, sure, they don’t want to get involved, but, fuck Luthor and Eat the Rich. Also, I would love it if said fic included the most stress inducing scenes were it seems like Luthor found out about Lia and the whole Reaper situation but he actually DIDN’T and Lia is here like, sweating god damn bucks while her hair slowly falls out. Please. Write this shit. It would be

Lulu’s Flash Reviews [Winter 2020]

Been a while since I posted one of these! I posted these to my twitter earlier but I figured I could put them here too.  And if you will excuse the plug, consider checking out my side Twitter I use specifically for livetweeting anime, @/LulusLivetweets!

And w/o further ado, I have some thoughts about anime under the cut!

Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!

Eizouken was an absolutely INCREDIBLE little show. I hadn't initially planned on watching it, but I'm so glad I did. The main cast is so strong and their personalities mesh and bounce into perfect, hilarious dynamics - and the core themes about creativity and how to make anime wrt all the work that REALLY goes into it were so much fun to watch play out. Everytime Kanamori went off on her own plans, I was hooked! Everytime Asakusa and Mizusaki started playing some imagination game, I got emotional, because that was me in high school! 

And of course, the animation was spot on; the way you watched them physically build their "greatest world" through sketchy environments and voice acted sound effects, it was immersive and inspiring. An instant classic imo!   

Overall: 10/10

Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun

Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun was one that was on my radar from the beginning due to the voice talent of Megumi Ogata playing the titular character. But her excellent va work wasn't the only awesome thing about it! the animation was absolutely gorgeous, using a very unique style visually and cinematically. i really loved the way they decided to design each episode's mood and tone and the creative framing techniques. the characters were all quite fun, complex, and endearing, and there was just enough mystery to really keep you hooked. and i'm a sucker for that rumors-create-reality plot! the only minus i can give this is that Nene's obsession with boys started to wear on me lol

Overall: 9/10

Asteroid in Love

A slow-paced slice of life, but still overall enjoyable! There was little substance and any time it edged on real conflict it hurriedly pulled back, but that was ok because we all knew we were here for cute girls being cute without any more depth.  The relationship between Ao and Mira was sweet and lovely, and the quirks of the other characters never became so overwhelming that it got annoying, even the tsundere-types. And I learned a little bit about space! Bonus points! overall, it was a sweet and welcome escape to simply slip into a story without conflict, where you could simply sit back and smile as you watched these sweet girls pursue their deeply held dreams, no matter what might stand in their way.

Overall: 7/10

In/Spectre

For my thoughts on In/Spectre....well...I finished it? There are elements to this series that I found interesting enough to continue til the end. This one also taps into the Rumors-Become-Reality trope that I love, but unlike Hanako-kun it...leaves character to the wayside. The animation is pretty solid, sound design is good, character designs are pretty decent if a little unmemorable, but...for most of this show it's talking heads. They talk in circles and weave stories in a way that just...doesn't do the visual medium justice.

and the characters are just...boring. I never bought into what was meant to be the main romantic subplot. Iwanaga is extremely annoying when she's not devising Sherlock-esque concepts. rather than develop the characters and their relationships, they devoted 90% of screentime to watching Iwanaga come up with ridiculous fictions in Sherlock-esque fashions, as though just to show off how clever the show is rather than let me become invested in the characters. if there's ever a season 2, i don't think i have the emotional investment to look into it.

Overall: 6/10

Natsunagu

Natsunagu isn't really a traditional anime per say, it's a series of shorts developed for a revitalization effort after the Kumamoto earthquake, I believe. Each episode is only 3 minutes long, so the story isn't particularly fleshed out, but for what it was, it was rather sweet. The story of a girl trying to find her online friend after their usual message service is shut down and meeting the people of a place still in recovery was I think written with exactly as much sensitivity as it needed to for the story and the people it was telling it for.

Overall: 6/10

Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story: Magia Record

Magia Record blew every expectation I had out of the fucking water. It was absolutely fucking incredible. Building expertly off of the foundation laid by the original Madoka, in some respects it absolutely overshadowed it. The aesthetic and atmosphere hit every fucking note perfectly. Without having to worry about building up uncertainty the way the original did, MR was able to barrel straight into the uncanny valley, where you already know that something is wrong but you have no idea how MUCH.

yet another Rumor-Creates-Reality show (seriously this is a theme here), the Rumors on display here are markedly more hostile, and built with all of the eerie charm of Madoka's signature surreality. Characters are not left to the wayside, either. For the number of cast members they introduce and the old ones they bring back, it somehow manages to balance all of them, give most of them arcs and depth, and invest you into all of them in a very short span of time.

I'm still shivering with just how intense every bit of it was. I want to rewatch it already. I'm already pounding my fists on the table for season 2! The original Madoka was and still is a favorite of mine, but this spin off avoided every pitfall I could have thought of creating something that both wove intricately into its source material while creating something brand new at the same time. Even knowing that these events will retroactively be undone with the events of Madoka, I still care immensely, and that's a major feat. cannot wait for s2!

For Best Boy of Winter 2020, the award goes toooo.....Hanako-kun! Simultaneously a little shit AND in need of a hug, Hanako balances that shitlord side of himself with his moments of vulnerability in a super endearing way. Honorable mention to Daruizen because I'm me.

Best OP: Easy Breezy by Chelmico (Eizouken)

This OP is just so much fun to watch, and the song is fun to listen to on its own!

Best ED: Aletheia by ClariS (Magia Record)

Best ED goes tooo....Aletheia by ClariS!  It's beautifully animated, and one of the few EDs I actually liked listening to all the way through the end. Plus, ClariS is always good!

Best Music: Magia Record

Best Music Award goes to Magia Record! Yuki Kajiura is ALWAYS a treat to listen to, as always.  And a secondary mention to Healin Good! The theme that plays during the main attack is really good and reminds me of You Say Run a little.

Best Animation: Magia Record

Best Animation also goes to Magia Record! Madoka properties really know how to meld unique styles of animation, and to get the most out of every frame. A special shoutout to the design of Hanako-kun and the creativity of Eizouken, though!

And finally, for Best Overall...I actually have to give it a tie;;;; Eizouken + Magia Record were both incredible , for extremely different reasons - but their combined unique animation styles, attention to aesthetic/theme, and overall stellar performance were a joy this season!

And that’s enough of me talking! Looking forward to Spring 2020′s season, lot of good stuff coming up!  Did anyone watch anything this season that I didn’t talk about that you highly recommend?
