a short that woefully flies under my radar more than is moral, i rewatched Hollywood Daffy months ago and still find myself thinking about this sequence by Virgil Ross to the day. incredibly enchanted by the way this moves—i love the very inspired detail of Daffy grabbing the cop and having to physically pull him down a little to account for the height difference… love that bouncy settle after the Errol Flynn line (i feel i say this with EVERYTHING, but “DON’T ANSWER THAT” is one of my favorite line deliveries from Blanc and Daffy alike) and the head tilts give Daffy a nice nuance and dimension to his acting. it's a great contrast to the purposefully obtuse, flop-footed run cycles and general exorbitance from the cop. so stinkin' good
ECHAD MI YODEA? ECHAD ANI YODEA 2022 – 14 canvas panels, measurements variable, oil on canvas
The Jewish prayer shawl, known by the name “Tallis”, floats on a specific landscape – that of the Bojanala district in the North West of South Africa. Because although I was born and raised in Johannesburg, Bojanala is where my great grandparents arrived from Lithuania – where they fled the antisemitic pogroms. The landscape is the geographic location where my Jewish identity meets Africa. There is no longer a Jewish community in Rustenburg due to urban migration and white flight – but I still visit the cemetery there, as often as I can. In our Jewish culture, when we are buried, we are buried wearing our tallit. I am interested in how painting one image over several spaced out panels abstracts each ‘element’ as a painting in itself. Many canvasses comprise of one art work. Each one by itself may be too abstract to be read coherently, but alongside the others, the whole image begins to form. So this begins to play with painting and the canvas as the site – the whole – of the painting’s subject matter. It extends beyond one – and this begins to relate to the title as well. Who knows one? I know one! The title comes from a song sung during the Passover festival, and is played as a memory game, where the lyrics are recited without looking at the written word. It is this relation to culture and memory that informs this work
ok the ppl who are “hating” on chris pratt for the mario role r stupid asf, and tryna talk them into replacing him is also stupid. but yall shouldnt come for him for getting ACCEPTED for the role. he prob auditioned and got then ACCEPTED, other than that this man has worked hard to get where he is now and you guys gotta respect that, yeah maybe voice acting isnt the BEST for him but you have NO right to start attacking thsi man saying he has “no fans” and/or “no supporters” let this man live in peace. nd also the homophobic stuff isnt any of your concern. you dont know whats going on in this mans real life so you cant judge.
