Embracing Change – My Journey into Professional Organizing
As a professional organizer in Toronto, my journey to this point has been a culmination of passion, perseverance, and a strong desire for change. Though organizing has been a part of me for as long as I can remember, it's only been a few months since I took the definitive step into the professional realm.
My days were a harmonious blend of being a stylist in a Yorkville boutique and immersing myself in organizing through podcasts, courses, and communities of professional organizers. My zeal to start my own business was the driving force behind long, energy-filled hours, seamlessly transitioning from boutique work to crafting my own path in professional organizing.
My background in fashion and design initially propelled me towards a career in retail, but the reality differed vastly from my aspirations. The discrepancy prompted a vision: a transition from full-time to part-time in retail by year-end, with enough client base to confidently embrace professional organizing as my full-time pursuit.
Life, however, had its own plans. An abrupt managerial shift at the boutique led to a turning point. It resulted in the resignation of several team members, including myself, due to a drastic change in management style and treatment towards the staff.
Despite the uncertainty, I made a bold decision to step away from a full-time role. I felt the impact of being undervalued in the retail industry, a feeling I could no longer endure. "Now or never," I thought. At 30, after years of navigating survival, immigration challenges, and adapting through COVID, I decided it was time to seek financial security through something I genuinely loved.
This first episode marks a crucial turn in my journey – a leap into the unknown, driven by a deep belief in doing what I'm truly passionate about. Follow me as I navigate through the complexities, joys, and challenges of transitioning into the world of professional organizing.
