Defend and Protect Black Women!!
Misogynoir medical bias is KILLING Black women disproportionately. If you know even a little history of how Black women have been systematically dehumanized and objectified in the medical industrial complex -you'd know this is FAR too common and it's despicable. These medical professionals should be losing their licenses to practice medicine.
"Black women are three to four times more likely to experience complications during pregnancy and childbirth and die from these complications compared with white women. Additionally, infants born to Black women are two times more likely to be born premature (<37 weeks of gestation) compared with infants born to white women."
"In the 19th century, J. Marion Sims performed experimental surgery on enslaved Black women without their consent to develop a cure for vesicovaginal fistula. These experiments facilitated the generations of two key health care scripts about Black women in the context of reproductive health care: (1) it is acceptable to perform procedures on Black women without their consent; and (2) Black women have a high tolerance for pain."
"Although there is a plethora of research documenting Black women's experiences of racism and discrimination while navigating perinatal care, much less has been reported regarding the relationship between racism and clinical care through the lens of clinicians' caring for Black women during pregnancy and childbirth."

This was her FAVORITE time of year... She should be spending it with family... she should be be alive. I'm pissed she's not. I'm so so pissed. I'm hurt. on the verge of tears.
Please dont forget her face, her name, her smile, her caring soul.
She wanted to be a nurse. Wanted to help mothers and babies... And she never got to.
The world was a better place when she was in it...
Merry Christmas Breonna... Thinkin ab you...

Dark Skinned Black Girls,
It’s ok. I know it’s a nightmare; every single day. Every single second. But please don’t stop existing. You deserve a quality of life. You’re not different from other races of women. You’re not broken. You’re not unwanted. You’re not undesirable. You are NOT, obsolete. And it’s okay to be exhausted. You owe the world and humanity nothing. Absolutely nothing. Know that. You’ve always been yourself. Whether discriminated against, accepted or emulated. You’ve always been you. You deserve good things. You deserve better. You deserve best. You deserve peace. You deserve sanctuary. You deserve to thrive.
In spite of everything you’re put through.

I'm beyond disgusted about what's going on at Sesame Workshop Philadelphia. It's REPEATED behavior. These little black kids are there to have fun, step into their favorite TV shows, and meet their favorite characters. Imagine being a little black kid seeing everyone else getting treated nicely by the characters only to be ignored or treated poorly. This is a slap in the face to everything the show originally stood for. Remember, Sesame Street was developed to teach fundamental learning skills to kids in inner-city and less wealthy areas and HEAVILY featured black children. If you can't work with black kids, then you shouldn't be working with kids at all.
...I wonder if it's only one or two performers doing this considering fur character performers can play multiple characters within their height range.

Her name was Samiya and she was brutally stabbed in the neck and chest before she was taken to a New York hospital with her sister Sanyia (who had been stabbed in the arm), where she did not survive her injuries from her neck and chest. These sisters were just at a store, and this predator FOLLOWED them after he was rejected and attacked them. He waited for them -and he's still not caught. This is just absolutely horrifying.
Misogyny fuels violence against women -and this very clear epidemic is killing young girls and women.
I cannot imagine the degree of entitlement you think you have to anyone's time and bodies- that anyone could hold that much disdain for rejection, and is okay with exerting power, control, and violence upon another person because YOUR ego is bruised. Fuck toxic masculinity and dismantle the patriarchy until it burns to the ground because I'm so sick of seeing this.
I wish all the best to the family and loved ones of Samiya. This young teenager should still be here. And I hope the man who did this gets apprehended and faces endless misery and misfortune in his lifetime.

happy black history month <3
i am black and grateful that this is the reality i live every day.
coming onto tumblr and creating this blog was a way for me to express myself and my thoughts in a way that made sense and has felt safe. and has also allowed me to express myself in a way that hasn’t always been allotted to black women when wanting to embrace softness and soft things.
for a while (starting from age 11 ish) i really thought bcs of media and certain commentary irl that my skin and hyperpigmentation was not desirable or pretty. however, as i’ve learned and accepted…it’s always going to be beautiful and serves as a reminder of all the people it took to eventually make me. and that i deserve to love myself and appreciate all that i am made up of.
and a reminder that you’re beautiful, your skin is beautiful, your mind is beautiful, your existence is beautiful.

it's really infuriating how black women (honestly women in general but i'm going to specify speak on black women and inside the community) aren't allowed to be victims of black men. anytime a black woman speaks out against a black man, its always "oh they're just trying to tear a black man down" or "oh they just want to ruin the black man's image". not every black man is emmett till🥴
