* An oshibori or hot towel in English is a wet hand towel offered to customers in places such as restaurants or bars in China and Japan and in some Chinese and many Japanese restaurants worldwide. Oshibori are used to clean one's hands before eating.

Drarry Fic Rec Masterlist

I’ve been meaning to put this together properly for some time now, so finally, here is a list of my top Drarry fics. Definitely read through all the other works of these amazing writers. These are just my personal favourites. Enjoy! Hahahahah good luck ever doing anything else ever again.

First and foremost comes Saras_Girl like, I CAN’T EVEN. So, my top favourites of theirs:

Tales From the Special Branch by femmequixotic (E) When Gawain Robards asks him to form Special Branch seven-four-alpha, Harry Potter knows they'll have to work outside the confines of the law--even though they are the law.

(Aurors!Harry and Draco, forbidden fruit, case fic, lots of excellent smut, incredibly complex and well-written plot. I can’t even with this fic it’s so freaking good. Most recent in the series has just started posting but each individual fic is brilliant stand-alone. MASTERFUL. And so satisfyingly long. They have so many great fics, go read them allllll!)

Temptation on the Warfront by alizarincrimson (E) Draco Malfoy is forced into hiding with the Golden Trio and dragged into their search for horcruxes. What ensues is a journey of redemption, unexpected friendships and an unwanted, turbulent romance with Harry Potter. Warnings for swearing, sexual content, and dark themes.

(7th year AU. Really well developed and reworked to include Draco. One of my drarry firsts and an all-time love.)

Running on Air by eleventy7 (T) Draco Malfoy has been missing for three years. Harry is assigned the cold case and finds himself slowly falling in love with the memories he collects.

(So, I’m not great at reading T-rated fics... I actually read this one by accident. I am so glad I did. Beautiful fic. Melancholy and lovely and just yes.)

Against All Odds by momatu (E) Beauxbatons is hosting the first ever Quidditch Summer School for children from all over Europe, and Harry has promised to enroll Teddy as his birthday present. Meanwhile, Draco is stuck in his office, putting together the first ever Quidditch Summer School for children from all over Europe during, when he should be enjoying summer holidays.

(Momatu really does their research and creates a vivid world with great development between Harry and Draco. Highly recommend trawling through their work and reading it all. Massive thanks to @siriusly-not-over-remus for reccing this to me!)

One Touch by Fleetofshippyships (M) An unexpected incident late one night sets off a series of events that could save one young man in desperate need of help, even if doing so may destroy the other.Harry commits an act of great violence, but doesn’t remember why. Malfoy urges him to run, and takes the blame instead. The most obvious explanation makes no sense, and it only gets more complicated from there.What follows is their struggle to trust and open up to one another while dealing with dangerous and invasive magic; when stepping wrong and losing control, even if only for a few moments, could have severe consequences for them both.

(8th year AU. Fantastic concept for plot and really well developed idea. Another one to absolutely check out a load of their work. I also highly recommend by them:

Restraint (E) Someone casts the Imperius curse on Draco Malfoy, and whatever the instructions may be, Harry finds himself an unwilling target. The encounter leaves him torn between pleasure and revulsion. As they fight in the aftermath, a tense game begins. Harry fights to convince Malfoy, and himself, that he was not affected by that initial encounter, or any of those following it. Faced with a series of escalating encounters, Harry must come to terms with desiring things he never thought he could, things he wishes he didn’t respond to. They each use signs of arousal as weapons against each other in a mad struggle to finally shame the other into backing down for good. But it’s only after the game is over that Harry starts to understand.

(8th year AU. Great angst and enemies to lovers progression. Drinking. Games. A hella lot of rough sex. This is a smuuuuut fic. I also helped beta this fic because it was so good and I couldn’t wait for updates.)

Balance, Imperfect by bixgirl1 (E) When Harry sustains an injury in the line of work, he no longer knows how to navigate the life he loved, and finds help and solace from the most unexpected source.

(Auror!Harry, Physiotherapist!Draco. I totally got @sirussly to read this and she loved it, closet hardcore Drarry shipper right there. I LOVE @bixgirl1 I cannot explain. All the stuff by them is just fantastic. Especially: The Shape of the World (E) and: In Evidence of Magical Theory (E)

They are also in the middle of a collab with the wonderful @l0vegl0wsinthedark on a super cute and super smutty Virgin!Draco series on here (search either of their blogs under the ‘virgin draco’ tag.)

Speaking of! l0vegl0wsinthedark has a whole load of great fics (all the good smut). Absolutely worth working your way through it all!)

Draco Sodding Malfoy by Shewhxmustnxtbenamed (M) Harry finds Draco outside a pub and takes him back to his place, only to find out that Draco is in an abusive relationship. Harry invites Draco to stay until he can get back on his feet. They go to Draco's ex-boyfriends house, and come back with more than they bargained for.

(So. Cute. Domestic bfs. Also very worth checking out @shewhomustnotbenamed and their drarry videos hallooooooo)

Azoth by zeitgeistic (E) Now that Harry is back at Hogwarts with Hermione for eighth year, he realises that something’s missing from his life, and it either has to do with Ron, his boggart, Snape, or Malfoy. Furthermore, what, exactly, does it mean when one’s life is defined by the desire to simultaneously impress and annoy a portrait? Harry has no idea; he’s too busy trying not to be in love with Malfoy to care. (Hogwarts Apprentices!Drarry. Animagus magic. SO GOOD GUH. I really love the idea for Harry’s animagus and the progress is so excellent.)

Any Instrument by dicta_contrion (E) Draco Malfoy wouldn't go back to England for anything less than an exceptional case. Being asked to figure out why Harry Potter can't control his magic might be exceptional enough to qualify.

(MindHealer!Draco. THE BIG LEAGUES SO GOOD YES. Excuse me while I go read this again. OKAY BUT LOADS OF THEIR OTHER STUFF TOO ESPECIALLY:

The Vanishing Department (E) The things we lose have a way of coming back to us in the end, even if that involves a lot more form-filling, bickering, covert glancing, miscommunication, and flying furniture than we might expect.

(Brilliant characterisation of Draco and really interesting idea. YES.)

House Proud by astolat (E) His house liked Draco Malfoy more than him.

(OKAY, I LOVE THIS. WIZARD HOUSES ARE THE SHIT AND THIS IS SO CLEVER YES. REALLY FREAKING GOOD BANTER BETWEEN HARRY AND DRACO. Also other stuff by them like:

NEWTS

“I’m twenty-eight!” Harry said. “I’ve been an Auror for ten years! You want me to go back to Hogwarts now?" (Harry has to go back to Hogwarts before he can be promoted, Professor!Draco. Yisssssss.)

Eclipse by Mijan (T) Draco swore his revenge on Harry for Lucius's imprisonment, and Harry all but laughed at him. But Draco is planning more than schoolyard pranks this time. The old rivalry turns deadly when Draco abducts Harry for Voldemort. It's the perfect plan, guaranteeing revenge, power, and prestige, all in one blow. But when Draco's world turns upside down, the fight to save himself and Harry begins, and the battle will take them both through hell and back. If they come back. (6th year AU. Pre-HBP. Another accidental T read with 0 regrets. I LOVED this, SO MUCH.)

A Year In Training by Omi_Ohmy (M) Harry is finally living his dream and training as an Auror, but nothing seems to be going right: he’s just so angry all the time. And Draco Malfoy’s presence on the programme really isn’t helping with that, either.

(Aurors!Drarry: Harry’s pissed off Draco is better than him. I’m sure you can see where this goes...)

Eternally Consistent by kitsunealyc (E) Draco Malfoy and Harry Potter assumed they would never be anything but civil enemies, until Potter lands on Malfoy's doorstep, bleeding, covered in curses, and acting very strangely indeed.

(Unspeakables!Harry&Draco: Nice swift enemies to lovers progression, goooood!)

Tea and No Sympathy by who_la_hoop (E) It's Potter's fault, of course, that Draco finds himself trapped in the same twenty-four-hour period, repeating itself over and over again. It's been nearly a year since the unpleasant business at Hogwarts, and Draco's getting on with his life quite nicely, thank you, until Harry sodding Potter steps in and ruins it all, just like always. At first, though, the time loop seems liberating. For the first time in his life, he can do anything, say anything, be anything, without consequence. But the more Draco repeats the day, the more he realises the uncomfortable truth: he's falling head over heels for the speccy git. And suddenly, the time loop feels like a trap. For how can he ever get Harry to love him back when time is, quite literally, against him?

(Really nice development of Draco, and fun plot! Definitely worth going through their other works too, some really great stuff!)

Strangeness and Charm by FeelsForBreakfast (E) One November night during his eighth year at Hogwarts, Draco ends up in the forbidden forest. That’s how it starts. or: If two boys fall in love in a magical forest, does it still make a sound?

(8th year AU. Dreamlike and sweet. Check out their other works too. I especially recommend 'Like Holly or Blood' (M) and 'Open for Repairs' (M).)

Strange Bedfellows by hurt_mod and ravenclawsquill (E) When Harry encounters a frail and fidgety Draco Malfoy at the Ministry, he just knows something is wrong and he’s determined to get to the bottom of it. A story about Deadly Nightshade, crippling insomnia, excellent wine … and finding what you need in the strangest of circumstances. (Addict!Draco. All the good angsttttt.)

Boom Clap (The Sound of my Heart) by femmequixotic and noeon (E) Post-war Hogwarts has been energized by its new teaching fellows program. Where once bitter enmity divided the wizarding community, Malfoy and Potter chummily patrol hallways together whilst Granger and Zabini seek lost parts of the castle at McGonagall’s behest and Chang supervises Quidditch when not lecturing in Charms. It’s a veritable wizarding utopia and life is predictable for the first time in years. Which is, of course, when everything blows apart as the result of a drunken dare and Malfoy’s life is ruined beyond his capacity to repair it. Ever. In a million years.

Lift Your Open Hand by firethesound (M) With Draco Malfoy as his assigned partner for the next six weeks of Auror training, Harry had been prepared for things to go poorly. But getting themselves accidentally bonded to each other in the first twenty minutes of their very first assignment seemed going above and beyond, even for them.

(Aurors!Drarry. Who doesn’t love a good magical bonding fic?? Lots of great works, also recommend:

A Convenient Impracticality (E) Somehow Harry ends up agreeing to a fake relationship with his ex-nemesis-turned-friendly-acquaintance-with-benefits, except for some reason it involves an awful lot of actual dating and, sadly, not much sex. Confused? Harry is too, but when has anything with Draco Malfoy ever been as straightforward as it seems?

(Aurors!Drarry, That good fake relationship trope. *thumbs up*) The Light More Beautiful (E) Thirteen years after Draco accepts Potter's help escaping the horror of his sixth year, he returns to England where he makes the unfortunate discovery that Potter is still as obnoxious as ever. And worse, more than a decade overseas hasn't been enough to dim Draco's obsession with him.

(Sort of 6th year AU, then post-war Aurors!Drarry. Really interesting speciality for Draco and great development)

Unexpected

Pre-expansions drabble of my Chiss Agent and Theron

She'd initially flirted with him both as a test and out of habit. He wasn't fooled the first couple times, though he seemed almost flattered. Isoxia had to wonder how many times he'd used that trick to get something he wanted.

Isoxia didn't want much from Theron but proof that she could rely on him, which was thankfully given quickly. Thus the basis for their friendship was born. They shared something of a moment on Manaan, then it was time to part.

In the weeks that they worked together they were rarely ever alone, and for a portion of it Theron had been held captive. She found herself worried about him while she worked on his rescue, finding herself saddened by the thought of his death. There was a select number of people she didn't want to lose from her crazy life. Among them specifically were Shara, Kaliyo, Vector, and Ensign Temple. All others would fade into background noise with time. The people she met under cover, the targets she seduced. Even Lana, as nice as she was, was ultimately just another Sith she had to work with.

Under normal circumstances, Theron would have been her enemy. Maybe they would have encountered each other under cover, spun their false tales, slept together before betraying one another the way that all relationships between spies went. Someone would get shot or stabbed.

Isoxia didn't want to stab Theron. She just wanted to talk with him again, maybe after things calmed.

As it turned out, Theron didn't need her to rescue him. He wasn't going to turn down the assistance getting the rest of the way out, however. Isoxia felt relieved at the sight of his battered face, bruises on his cheeks and his lower lip split. She should've known a practiced agent like him would be so resourceful.

It took another week and a half for things to come to a pausing point and in that time Isoxia had run an assault on the Revanites with just Kaliyo backing her up and overseen a truce between Darth Marr and Jedi Grandmaster Satele. She was getting tired of the constant fighting, missing the pirate persona she'd gotten to play when she first arrived on Rishi. Fortunately for her, the truce allowed for a brief respite.

She and Theron lingered in the safehouse while the others left. He griped about his mother's cold attitude and their past as Isoxia stood beside him, his arms folded over his chest while she leaned back on her hands, looking up at him with her red eyes. Her glanced over at her with a small smile.

“Conned a lot of Imperial spies with fake cover stories over the years and here I am telling you the straight up truth,” he said.

Isoxia chuckled at this. “I know exactly how you feel. Being a ghost doesn't often leave much room for truth.”

“So what is the truth?” he inquired.

She met his gaze, eyes scanning his face. “I might as well tell you since there aren't any records that I exist.”

“Normally that'd make someone more inclined to lie,” he said, brows pinched in the middle.

“And what good would that do when you've been so honest with me?” she smirked. “My full name is Rosis’orel’xianu, but Isoxia is preferable. My family are people of little consequence on Csilla. I haven't spoken to them since before I went into training for the Ascendancy.”

“Then from the Ascendancy you were placed with Imperial Intelligence,” he figured for himself, relaxing a bit against the table so that their shoulders met. Neither pulled away.

Isoxia pursed her lips at his words. “I'd hoped to make a career out of Intelligence,” she griped. “Blasted Sith.”

“I remember when the SIS caught wind of that one,” Theron said.

“Of course your people did, damned Sith aren't exactly known for their subtlety,” Isoxia huffed, glaring at the exit. “I’d have returned to Csilla if I hadn't been able to become a ghost.”

“You could have gone back, anyway,” he pointed out.

She shook her head at this, staring at the floor. “I'm where I need to be for now. Besides,” she turned to face him, a smile on her freckled face, “I don't think we'd have met on such pleasant terms otherwise.”

“You’re probably right about that one… you're really not what I was expecting,” he said, hazel eyes looking over her face.

She hummed at this, carefully leaning towards him and lowering her voice a little. “I hope that's not a bad thing.”

He smiled. “Definitely not.”

Isoxia felt her heart palpitate in her chest and she licked at her lips before moving to kiss him. He didn't pull away as she'd feared he might, kissing her back instead. She closed her eyes and let herself feel at peace. His lips were surprisingly soft, even with the still healing split. She kissed him again, not wanting this moment to end and finding herself pleasantly surprised when he continued to kiss her back.

She broke it off to look up at him, her blue face flushed as his eyes met hers. They didn't pull away.

Theron’s lips pulled into a smirk. “And they said if I ever kissed an Imp I'd spontaneously implode.”

She let out a light laugh at this, looking down at his chest and smoothing out the breast of his jacket. “There’ll time for that on the trip to Yavin 4.”

He took hold of the hand she had on him, gently moving it back to her. “Not the most subtle hint, but you're right. We need to get moving.”

The two left the safehouse together, Theron regrouping with his people while Kaliyo rejoined Isoxia. They exchanged a couple second glances back at each other before moving on.

“You're sweet on him,” Kaliyo teased, elbowing her partner in the ribs.

“Oh, shut up,” Isoxia snapped back, the slight flush to her cheeks betraying her.

Kaliyo smirked. “Don't worry, Soxi, I won't tell too many people. Besides, it's kinda cute.”

Isoxia prickled at this, narrowing her eyes. “Cute?”

“Yeah, you know. You're an Imp, he's a Pub, both spies. You’ve got that whole forbidden romance thing going on. ”

“You’re so lucky I like you or you'd be getting a throat full of my vibroknife.”

Having had plenty of practice ignoring unwanted voices, it wasn't hard for Isoxia to tune out her best friend's teases as they worked their way back to the ship. Still, the thought was there, and on the ride to Yavin she let herself daydream about kissing the enemy.

The Papers- Soichiro Toyoizumi

It had been less than a month since you’d been forced away from him, not like he seemed to fight for you anyway, he’d done most of the pushing you away all by himself from the moment where he realised that those around you for the most part weren’t going to approve of your relationship. He was an older man, and you knew that there was no way that your love was going to last forever, he’d never seemed like he was going to let it from the start, but that didn’t stop you from falling hard and fast. The worst part of it all, of Soichiro forcing you away from him, was that you were legally married to him, you’d gotten married to him in secret, you’d hoped it would stay that way so he wouldn’t feel the need to run away from you, but he couldn’t keep it a secret, he’d told one person, who told another, and the next thing you knew you were being pushed away from him all over again, because he couldn’t cope with the age difference, and as he pushed you further and further away, it led to you having to leave your own home, and stay with one of your friends, and thats where you currently were.

Your room at your friends house, sitting up in your bed, curled up in your silken blankets, seated in your night wear, a pair of violet silk shorts, and a cropped lilac tank top. Decorating your bedroom, your favourite flower, chrysanthemums, violet chrysanthemums, allowing their soft scent to float throughout the room, keeping you calm, as you tried to keep your tears at bay. You felt right now as though you didn’t even have the power to say your own last name, you’d begun using your maiden name all over again, but there was something about it that felt so fake, and broke your heart.

Music was pounding throughout the house, you friend was throwing a party, and you couldn’t blame them, you weren’t working tomorrow, so it gave her and all her other friends enough time to try and calm down.

As you were tangled in your blanket trying to calm yourself down, you dragged yourself over to the dressing table, beginning to comb your fingers through your hair, sneaking over to your closet, reaching inside, right now, you felt like a stalker as you gazed in your closet, mostly because of the man that you supposed you should call your ex-husband, not that you would ever bring yourself to call him that, he was your almost angelic husband.

You could remember him walking in, walking in like he always had done before you thought you’d managed to convince him that age was just a number when it came to your love. You’d never thought of it as a big issue, he wasn’t that old, and you weren’t a child, you had never thought it was that big of an issue, and to begin with he had, and until he forced you away you thought you’d convinced him that it didn’t matter how old you were and how old he was. Your Soichiro seemed to have given up on you, given up on his own wife, even if you were only married for a few weeks, for you it had been the best time of your life, you loved the man…

You heard a gentle knock on your bedroom door, and you grabbed out what you’d wanted from your closet, one of his shirts, tossing it onto your bed as you stumbled towards your door,

“Who is it?” You asked in a soft voice,

“It’s just me” You heard your friend respond, you didn’t understand why she was being so quiet, why there was such a gentle tone to her slurred words. Opening the door, you quickly tugged her into your bedroom, taking quick note of the of the A4 brown envelope in her hands as she held it out towards you, in her other hand a cup of tea, sighing as you caught her eyes, you already had assumptions about what was in the envelope,

“I brought these at the request of him” You friend muttered, passing you the papers, and placing the tea on your dressing table, she sighed, running a hand through her own hair, it was clear she didn’t know what to say to you in this moment, she did;’t even wait to see what you’d say to her, sliding out of you room quickly, shooting you a final sad smile as she closed the door.

Stumbling back to your bed, you sat down, opening the brown envelope, you pulled out the papers inside, a small tear sliding down your cold skin as you read the words that rested on the top of the page. They were what you had expected, divorce papers already signed by him, in neat blank ink, and you felt your heart shattering in your chest.

You didn’t understand why it was hurting you so much, he’d already left, he’d pushed you away, but the papers, they made the separation feel even more real, dragging you into reality.

You heard a light tapping from your bedroom door, and glancing at the door for a moment, you opted to ignore it, you didn’t need anyone to see you right now, as you lifted the shirt you’d tossed onto your bed, pulling it up close, cuddling his shirt close, taking in his scent tat remained on the shirt. Hearing your bedroom door open, you again opted to ignore it, deciding it was probably just your friend coming back to see you, you could hear steps across your wooden floor, your bedroom door having slammed shut.

The bed next to you sank down slightly, warm yet rough, obviously calloused hands running through your hair, and then the hands moving, stroking the skin of your upper arm. Your face was gripped, turned around, and you gazed, seeing Soichiro standing there, his face was soft, his eyes drawing you in as your own were clouded by your tears, while you tried to hold them back. All you could bring yourself to do was to stare at him, for showing up when you’d just been handed divorce papers, and yet, there he sat in front of you, acting like he hadn’t just taken a step forwards in trying to break your heart, all because he couldn’t let go of the age gap between the both of you. It seemed like he as trying to analyse you, trying to figure out what to say or do, as though he thought that anything could be the wrong move. Carefully he leaned towards you, brushing his lips against your forehead in a comforting manner, taking the divorce papers from you, and placing them on your bedside table.

Was he over your age gap? Or was this him just trying to calm you? Calm your nerves?

He moved his arms down to your waist, holding you close to his chest as you softly cried into him.

You didn’t know if he was staying with you, or if he still wanted you to be his wife, or if this was just an act for him, if he was trying to lull you into a false sense of security before asking you to sign those papers, but you need him, you need to be next to him, to have him hold you close. You wanted him to love you, the same way in which you love him, and hopefully you could force it and pull the both of you through it, gazing up at him, knowing you looked a mess right now, you dove on him, clinging to him, arms tangled around his neck.

For this moment, you were going to take whatever you could, whatever he would give you in this moment, and hope that it wouldn’t end too soon.
