why don't you ship it : really it's just the way their canon relationship is handled with no growth. pyrrha's whole character revolves around how she dislikes being held up on a pedastal & used only for her name & fame, which is exactly what weiss does in their first interaction. it never changes when honestly, it really should've considering this is something they could've bonded over, being viewed as a name & as a trophy rather than actual people.

what would have made you like it : pretty much what i outlined above, weiss & pyrrha developing together to view each other as more than what they can be for other people. getting beneath the "ice queen" & "invincible soldier" to see the true selves of each other is textbook a trope i adore & i'm sad it didn't have in canon. also that height difference. woof.

despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it : a lot of the fanart for this ship is gorgeous & i can absolutely see why people are head over heels for it! i am, for my own version of them wheeze.

what made you ship it : it's not something i ship ship but there wasn't really a neutral option in the meme wheeze. however i do like that they both have these "masks" they put to the world & that with the minimal interactions they have in canon — curse you writers — that pyrrha is one of the few who doesn't other blake. also height difference. i'm a sucker for height differences okay.

what are your favorite things about the ship : the colour comparisons & the aesthetics, as shallow as it sounds lol. blake would obviously have a lot of negative connotations with red but the red & gold of pyrrha feels warm, welcoming & fits the dynamic of their relationship.

is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship : is there even enough of purrha to have an unpopular opinon of it? i guess that, like with a lot of blake ships, pyrrha shouldn't be relegated to "protecting" blake from racism & speaking over her. it's weird & super white saviourist in tone. hard pass.

Inordinately horny GreekFiredonna (no, I don't know the 'fndm consensus' name) premise: Yang clocks Pyrrha's polarity after one too many 'redirected' upper-body spar strikes which curiously never seem to hamper her footwork, challenges Nikos to a 'classical' (read: essentially bareass) rassle. What I think works about the ship: So, hopefully this doesn't stray too far into headcanons, but if you stick to the earlier volumes - and particularly volume 3 for Pyrrha - they both have this soulful energy about them, this quiet, contemplative aspect that kind of sets them apart from the other characters around them. You can imagine them having deep conversations about... anything, really (imagine a version of 'Destiny' where Blake ends up completely distracting Pyrrha as they get into a debate on the metaphysics of fate). Also, Blake has spent at least some time in Mistral, so she would have a familiarity with Pyrrha's culture. And although it was never really touched on... okay, this does get into headcanons but I can see Pyrrha as a bit of a bookworm.

Really, I think these two could just vibe with one another.

What season I think they were best in: Unfortunately they were never really good because I don't think they exchanged two words together in the entire show. Or even one word.

How I would get them together in canon: When Blake falls to the island she finds Pyrrha there (this better happen in V9, RT) having been left there for however long its been since her death. During that time, alone, Pyrrha has had a lot of time to think things over, and she's decided that her feelings for Jaune were only a shadow of a thought, not the real thing. Plus she has come to realise how cruel she was to him at the end, and he doesn't believe that he could ever forgive her. Blake, who knows a thing or two about cruelty, endeavours to comfort her, and in the process begins to fall for her herself as the two of them work together to find the others and a way home from Ever After.

How I would get them together in an AU or re-write: Pyrrha, who is already getting mobbed with adoring sycophants on her first night at school, seeks out the quiet corner, aka Blake, just for the fact that this is someone who isn't paying attention to her. Nevertheless, Pyrrha is far too human - and far too desperate for some sort of connection - to simply let Blake read quietly, and asks her about the book that she's reading. This turns out to be a book that Pyrrha has also read, and before they realise it they've spent half the night talking about it.

This prompts Blake to seek out Pyrrha in the woods, seeing as how it's someone that she knows she can work with. When the truth about Blake's race and past comes out, Pyrrha catches up with her (and Sun, possibly, although you wouldn't necessarily need him in this scenario) and fights alongside her. Eventually, after much plot, Pyrrha, desperate to escape from the eyes of the world after the part she played in Penny's death, accompanies Blake to Menagerie.

What struggles I think they’d have to work through: Blake's past, and the wounds that Adam has inflicted upon her would obviously be a thing in any relationship, but other than that I think that they're both so committed, so willing to give everything of themselves no matter the cost, that it would be a point of continual friction between the two, each worried about the other and each an absolute hypocrite because of it.

How I personally feel about this ship: This isn't one of my favourite ships, but I have a growing affection for it. At some point I might write the scenario I just posited, if I ever find the time.

Edit: That being said, I can't completely fault the shippers. The names are really creative, and unfortunately, because RT cannot keep to their own fucking rules of what constitutes as racist to the Faunus we encounter shits like this. I like the name Thundercats, I liked Catmeleaon, but the allegorical writing of real-life issues instead of them actually making up an interesting conflict that fits the fictional context of RWBY mucks up a lot of the enjoyment around these ship names.
