So in my watch through of Ever After High with friends we almost got through all of Epic Winter and rewatching it I really have to say...it's not NEARLY as bad as people make it out to be!

In fact, I didn't think it was THAT bad the first time either! I mean, I get being annoyed that it ended up being the end of the series but judging AS the end of the series is a bit unfair since that was just dumped upon the creative team by Mattel being dicks. So instead of looking at it as the end of Ever After High, maybe look at it on what it SHOULD have been, the beginning of the next chapter of the story.

That's why I'm not too upset that Raven & Apple ended up taking a back seat in this special cause their story already had it's conclusion. Hell, Apple LIVED her story so other than dealing with the fallout of that there wasn't too much they could do. So I don't mind it focusing on some of the other characters for awhile.

And as much as people want to focus on Crystal's arch being about, "learning to tie her shoe" that's REALLY an over-simplification of the story. Cause she was proactive throughout all of it & WAS the real driving force behind the adventure. They just kind fumbled it with that being her "big character growth moment" cause...well it wouldn't Ever After High if they didn't screw up their message somehow.

But, yeah, the special really isn't much worse than the others, it just had the misfortune of being the point where Mattel decided to axe the series. I would have loved to see where the series would go after Epic Winter but I'm not going to hold that AGAINST Epic Winter.

But that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Also, I like the twist of Daring actually being The Beast instead of Prince Charming. That's the stuff I love from Ever After High

Maybe I need to do more research on this since I’m just saying this from memory, but the Royal trio isn’t Apple, Briar and Ashlynn it’s Apple, Briar and Blondie. At first anyways

Like in the books Apple says briar + blondie are her bffas and the yearbook says that two. And Ashlynn says her bffas are Apple and Raven not briar (tbh I think this was supposed to show her split between royal and rebel).

So imo Apple, Briar and Blondie are close friends, but Apple and Briar start to drift away from blondie before their second year maybe because blondie wasn’t a royal and Apple was becoming more and more obsessed with fairytale status (and possibly because of her mirrorcast??) and then they all were friends with Ashlynn (and briar and her were childhood friends with crystal) and I kind of imagine the friendship that the three had with Ashlynn like they knew her and they considered her a friend - maybe a close friend even she just wasn’t a part of the trio

Then Apple switches to be roommates with Raven and Briar becomes roommates with Ashlynn (unrelated but I just realized - i don’t actually know if it’s canon that Apple was supposed to be roommates with briar before she switched to raven, I’ll need to check the first book/diaries) and those three become closer.

Idk if any of what I said could work in canon but I think it provides some interesting dynamics.

Obviously the first one being blondies insecurities about not being royal and her need to always be relevant. And then to have the 2 most popular ppl in the school distance themselves from you could definitely cause some resentment.

And then my personal hc that I shove down everyone’s throats *cough cough projection* is that Farrah and Ash being bffa’s and then Ash slowly unintentionally ditching Farrah for the more popular crowd. Like idk something about this dynamic is just so compelling to me

Isn't it ironic how Ever after high, a show adamant on promoting the idea of creating new stories instead of retelling the same ones, was shut down by Disney, a studio that's obsessed with remakes and retelling the same stories ?
