A more vibrant look than previous Reese Forbes offerings, the Dunk Low Pro SB 'Hunter Reese Forbes' features a hunting-inspired design. The shoe's toe box, quarter panel and collar sport a burlap construction, with the overlays taking on a camo print. The Swoosh and quilted nylon lining are finished in Orange Blaze, with zigzag stitching throughout the upper. The two-tone tooling completes the look underfoot

I'll probably do a week instead of a day for each poll and post them in very small batches so nobody has to drive to my house and kill me. i will post them at whatever time of day and I'm sorry in advance. you have no idea how difficult it was to think of 32. i had to go back in time and converse with myself at ages of all prime numbers and multiples of 3 to get a clear picture

hi. here's another blaseball fan trying to get more people into blaseball
to understand what makes these guys insane, you need more context about blaseball. blaseball, just as a website, is a baseball simulator. except people die sometimes. other things happen too, like a player will siphon another player's blood in bloodrain, players get encased by a giant peanut (aka getting shelled), players change teams in feedback weather, etc etc etc.
blaseball fans make the entirety of the blaseball lore. all headcanons are excepted. like, jessica telephone is usually depicted as a girl with telephone features worked into her somehow (like a keypad on her face, giant phone for a bat, etc.), but you can just decide that you think jessica telephone is a lion and that's an official IRM (interdimensional rumor mill, a term used to describe all of these different interpretations). the wiki has irms for some of the players. i say some, because 1) more popular players don't really have an IRM section. players like jessica telephone, jaylen hotdogfingers, and nagomi mcdaniel have widely-accepted irms, so they kinda just get one. older players that aren't super popular but well-known by a specific team will have this as well, like reese clark of the houston spies. but lesser-known players will have multiple. for example, brock forbes has eleven rumors, terrell bradley has two, etc.
teams also write lore about the team itself. for example, the baltimore crabs live in baltimore, maryland, but the original players on the team killed Big Deb (the giant crab goddess that ruled baltimore) and now her carcass is used as the stadium :]
there's 24 teams, and all of them have their own culture and vibe. it can be a lot to try and figure out which team you want to go with. here's a cool hint: even tho the website makes you pick one team, you can join as many teams as you'd like. personally, i am on both the houston spies and baltimore crabs.
the teams: atlantis georgias, baltimore crabs, boston flowers, breckenridge (broken ridge) jazz hands, canada moist talkers, charleston shoe thieves, chicago firefighters, core mechanics, dallas steaks, hades tigers, hawaii fridays, houston spies, kansas city breath mints, los angeli unlimited tacos (the "los angeles" is plural), mexico city wild wings, miami dale, moab hellmouth sunbeams, new york millennials, ohio worms, philidelphia pies (everyone just calls them the philly pies), san francisco lovers, seattle garages, tokyo lift, and yellowstone magic.
so yeah! a lot! some teams you can get a vibe for immediately, but even then there's bits and pieces that aren't as obvious. for example, the tokyo lift is a gym-themed team, but they also have past lives as pirates.
if you want more info on individual teams, the houston spies bit together this slideshow. it's a little outdated, but the general vibes stay the same. for most teams, you can visit different team channels in the maincord, but some teams mostly or only use a sidecord, like the baltimore crabs. the maincord is huge, but you can mute most of the channels. i have every channel besides my team channels and announcements muted.
for finding more info: someone else mentioned the wiki, which is helpful, but hasn't been outdated for the new era (coronation). it's still not fully updated from the expansion era (because the expansion era was hella hectic). most teams will have their lore in their own discord server, since it's not allowed in maincord anymore (because people were being Weird when making lore and there's only so many mods). most if not all teams have links to their servers pinned in one of their channels.
going thru all of those channels and finding links can be A Lot. finding a team can be A Lot. but don't worry! there's no wrong answers and everyone is excited to have new people.
when i was picking teams, i considered these questions:
what size team do i want? i prefer smaller teams, so i went with the spies. some teams are big but don't feel too big, like the crabs (although i have most of the Crabitat channels muted).
do i like lore or stats more? i definitely prioritize lore but i ended up on two stat-heavy teams lol. every team needs a balance, though, so no matter what you want to contribute, you'll be welcomed (even if you don't feel like contributing anything). i definitely have a place within the spies for Making Lore
how much do i care about winning? i do not give a singular fuck, which is how i ended up on the spies.
how competitive of an environment do i want? some teams are much more cutthroat than others and that's important to think about
what aesthetics do i like? this one isn't as big for me personally. im not too attached to the aesthetics of the spies or crabs, and they aren't really aesthetics-driven, either. but some teams, like the lovers and the garages, have very established aesthetics. even if you don't "fit" within the team aesthetic, tho, the team itself can still be a good fit.
i think that's all i have for right now. i mean. its a lot. lol. but i may add more later :3
huh thats kinda cool. collaborative lore. love when people come together to make something<3 even more when that something is kinda fucked up<3

ANNOUNCEMENT + Round 1 notable moments, and the matches for Round 2
HEY! If you reblog a post with propaganda, please let me know if you want me to copy and paste that propaganda into any other matches including that player. For example: if you wrote a post encouraging people to vote for Jon Halifax, let me know if you would like for me to include your statements in Halifax's next match.
If you would like to submit propaganda, you can do so via asks, tagging me, reblogging a specific poll, etc.
I will try to ask people individually, but that's a lot of work and I've already got quite a bit on my plate, aside from the brackets.
Now, notable moments (in my opinion):
Tillman Henderson got out in the first round, proving there is a God and he is merciful. Tillman lost to Logan Horseman.
I think (I'm like 95% sure) that Oliver Notarobot beating Reese Clark was the biggest upset so far. On a scale of 1-90, with 1 being least likely to win and 90 being the opposite, Oliver was 42 and Reese was 87.
Kaz Fiasco beat Chorby Soul, which was probably the match with the most propaganda (including both actual posts and tags that say "VOTE X")
Juke Gnocchi, an incin replacement we got in Season 2, got farther than Parker MacMillan did. Considering that they're roommates/enemies, this is hilarious to me.
Brisket Friendo vs. Tot Fox was the closest match, with Brisket at 50.8% and Tot at 49.2%
Meanwhile, Monique Flowchart vs. Silvaire Roadhouse had the biggest difference between votes, with Monique at 11.1% and Silvaire at 88.9%
Now, here's the round two matches. LINKS WILL BE ADDED AFTER THE POLLS ARE POSTED. The polls are currently scheduled to post at 1:30 pm on the 15th, but who knows when I'll be able to sit down and add links.

Week 2: The Work of Representation/Interpreting Media
How a sign can be interpreted differently in media
Tumblr media
Signs are not a part of a fixed system; they are not defined universally. Everyone can interpret a sign or a gesture differently. Usually, this difference is constructed as cultures, language and norms vary. A pattern we will see is how social and cultural backgrounds shape the interpretation of an event and why the role of the viewer is so critical. A recent example of this is the double standard surrounding Iowa's Caitlin Clark and LSU's Angel Reese. During this year’s March Madness, these two players went viral for using the gesture “You can’t see me.” Caitlin Clark initially made this gesture after she made her sixth three-pointer of the night against Louisville (Henderson). Overall, the gesture was well-received, and she even got a congratulations from John Cena (the originator of the gesture) after the game.
Tumblr media
The narrative began to shift as Angel Reese recreated this gesture during the women’s NCAA tournament. Although the gesture was the same, the media interpreted it much differently. Angel Reese got criticized for “taunting” Caitlin Clark and being “classless.” Many viewers felt that Reese displayed “ugly sportsmanship” and this was a reflection of LSU’s head coach, Kim Mulkey (Salvador). The narrative quickly received Clark as a hero and Reese as a villain. However, some viewers noticed the double standard being formed and encouraged people to see the bias behind it. What were people’s reaction saying about their individual backgrounds? Meg Linehan says, “If you celebrated Clark for doing this but not Angel Reese you got to take a long, long look in the mirror.” Linehan is referring to the racial bias that is being revealed through people’s reaction and the common stereotype of black women as “aggressive” or “angry.” Angel Reese shares “I don’t fit in the box that you all want me to be in. I’m too hood, I’m too ghetto. You told me that all year. But when other people do it, y’all don’t say nothing.” Reese herself criticizes the narrative that has been surrounding her. Overall, signs can be interpreted in many ways. In this case, the gesture was interpreted as “competitive” or “classless.” Many have pinpointed this difference as a reflection of racial bias and individual background.

PART 2:
How the NCAA's Women's basketball tournaments created a discourse that reconditioned our regimes of truth
Growing up, I watched a lot of basketball. More specifically, I watched a lot of march madness. In my house, it was the busiest month of the year. My dad worked for the NBA draft and year after year I sat on the couch with him watching these pivotal games. I never once watched a women’s basketball game.
Men’s basketball was dominant and in the world of basketball, women were often discredited. Forbes reports that in 2020, the average NBA player made five million dollars, whereas the average WNBA player made 120k. This pays difference reflects the lower ticket sales, lower attendance, and lower viewership in the WBNA. It was the reality and “regime of truth” that the NBA was more successful and entertaining.
This was until this year’s March Madness and the discourse surrounding it. For the first time, the Women’s title game received more viewers than the men’s (Porter). The women’s tournaments more than doubled its viewership. Many credit this to Caitlin Clark and her rise to super star status. The media coverage on her has been outstanding and she has taken over popularity on all platforms. Even if people started watching because of their interest in her, they learn more about the game and the other dominant players that are leading women’s basketball right now. Caitlin Clark has announced that she is declaring for the WNBA draft. This is monumental and means so many great things to come for the sport. She has left a lasting legacy and a promising future for the NCAA tournaments, but is going to bring her determination and skill into the WNBA which will hopefully cut some of these disparities. Men’s basketball may have sustained their dominance, but the future is promising, and change is on the way. For most, that change is Caitlin Clark.
