USEFUL SITES FOR ROLEPLAYERS

Thought I'd make a list of some useful websites for those of us who enjoy roleplaying and what have you here on Tumblr and whatnot.

roleplay formatter: Made by the awesome @rpclefairy. I honestly can't recommend this one enough. Great for adding color, changing the font size, and the whole shebang with bold + italics + underline + strikethrough. 10/10 always use

fsymbols + emojipedia: These are both great for making your tags fancy and whatnot.

alt codes: This is genuinely great for teaching you how to make the symbols with your keyboard for everyday use so there's that. It's especially useful if you and/or your muses speak a second language so that's a bonus.

text color fader: *marge vc* I just think gradient effects on text is neat. *end marge vc*

list of colors (wikipedia): Has a list of an infinite number of colors and their hex codes. Very useful if I do say so, myself. But that's just me.

screencapped.net: Great for getting all sorts of screenshots for making icons, GFXs, promos, and whatnot.

fancaps.net: Also great for getting all sort of screencaps for making icons, GFXs, promos, and whatnot. My only complaint is that it's a little annoying to navigate so here's the proper links to movies, tv shows, and anime.

photopea: Great if you can't afford Photoshop and/or don't like using GIMP.

hakuneko: It's not so much a website as much as it is a program. You can download manga, comics, webtoons, doujinshi, etc. for making your icons, GFXs, promos, and whatnot. It's also just a great way to read stuff and catch up on everything.

copy your code and then go into the settings menu of your tumblr post. under "text editor" you can choose the html editor and paste your code in there.

Twin carrd templates based off of a survey where I let tumblr pick which features to include in a carrd build. They are in the exact same style / palette, but 𝐃𝐈𝐕𝐈𝐍𝐄 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐃𝐘 is the multimuse version while 𝐋𝐀 𝐕𝐈𝐓𝐀 𝐍𝐔𝐎𝐕𝐀 is the single muse version.

✧ Features: A clean carrd layout, semi-minimalistic. Highly customizable. Tested to be mobile friendly but that may vary by device. Both contain a built in page for guidelines, a page for affiliates and npcs, a page for headcanon links, bio pages, and sub-pages for a blogroll and content warnings. The multimuse version includes a muse roster with gallery-style lists and a condensed bio page that can easily copy/pasted as needed per muse (optionally). The single muse version includes a slightly expanded bio page. Elements are linked via style to make changing the colors easier. These are templates so the demo graphics do not come with them by default, but they can be downloaded here if you wish to use them. how to get rid of the shop button with the 'new' notification that doesn't go away

i see people asking how to get rid of this so here's how you do it with ublock origin. i'm sure this method works for other adblocker extensions so feel free to experiment with them.

open the ublock dashboard clicking here:

2. the dashboard will open on another tab. there you go to my filters and add www.tumblr.com##div.KTRcB:nth-of-type(4) to the list. then click on apply changes.

that's it. refresh your tumblr dashboard and it should be gone.

( new year, new carrd page. basically made this thing in an hour after working a whole day on my personal version for this; also tried using styles for the first time to make it easier when adding / changing things so you won't have to change each thing individually if you e.g. switch the colors. anyway, you can find the preview for this here. it's a multimuse template with a landing page, a navigation page, a rules page, a muse page with five sectioned-off pages for different types of media, and a connection page. due to the number of elements used this template requires at least a pro lite account. if you want to upgrade feel free to use my referral code KB4W13V3 because it helps me out. )

―  HOW TO USE

please don’t claim this as your own, and don’t delete the credit.  you can change it’s size or color but it should stay where it is.

of course, you can edit all the colors, sizes, fonts, etc. however you like.

to get this template please click here.  it’s on a pay-what-you-want basis, so it is possible to get it for free if you set the amount to 0. ( if you’d like to leave a little tip, i'd very much appreciate it, though. )

when you first open this template, it might look a little weird because carrd deletes the images i’ve used so there will only be empty spacers of sorts that may look a little out of place.  just upload images and this will fix itself.

actual image sizes don't matter since carrd scales them to fit but you can see examples of the image sizes i’ve used in the demo to get an idea for the dimensions.  or just try your own and play around with the settings to get the desired outcome.

RPC self-care

We all get worn down by life and often we turn to RP for rejuvenation. But more than once I've seen people on here that find themselves burnt out on the RP community itself. With nearly 20 years of role playing under my belt, I thought I'd share some of my favourite self-care tricks.

Block people. You don't have to explain yourself and 'weird vibes' is a legitimate reason. You deserve to feel safe and unbothered in your hobby space, and RP is based on consent. Just like with any recreational activity, you can withdraw your consent at any time and no is a complete sentence.

Turn off anon. This prevents anonymous harassment and gives you great insight into who to block or report if you get non-anonymous harassment.

Drop threads. I know RP etiquette suggests you need to tell your RP partner when and why, and sure, if they ask politely you can give it a go - just know that a pre-written variant of 'not feeling it' is good enough. In my humble opinion, I think dropping boring or vexing threads is everyone's prerogative and doesn't require explanation. Again, no is a complete sentence.

Talk it out. If you like the thread but things took a turn you didn't like, it's time to bring the RP into the workshop. Something like 'Hey I really like our RP so far but I'm losing my spark, can we talk about course correcting where the plot is going?'

Make clear rules and revise them frequently. I'd also advise against spending said rules excusing or explaining why you don't like or want a certain thing - I cannot stress enough how your preferences are not up for debate.

Get comfy chasing. A lot of RP is about inviting others to play over and over and over. Rejection is a part of it. See if you can't find some element of self-care in it - taking rejection well is a great skill to practice in such a low stake environment.

Notice and celebrate the good stuff, instead of digging holes about the bad. Tell your co-players how great they are. Marvel at all the hard work you put into your muses and graphics. Admire your own blog.

Stop. Take a break. Check in with yourself. Do you actually need to face something in IRL? Do you need to rest? A snickers? A walk? Don't bother with posts á la 'offline for the day' - leave your options open to reduce guilt or shame if you want to poke your head back in.

i'm begging mutuals on roleplay blogs to start interacting. most people for what i have seen, are super comfortable with memes being the first shape of interaction, and the odd starter call too. like them, send various memes to get options.

this goes to single blogs but also multimuse blogs. i promise you, as someone with a lot of multimuse blogs, sometimes just giving a few names is enough for people to try on those muses.

interact with your mutuals. like their post, make jokes on their ooc post if that's how you feel more comfortable, share a pic or two, maybe discord. but for the gods sake, send memes, like starter calls, specially when it's encouraged.

i promise you people won't reject you.
