this is super long but i've been a fan of a kpop group for years now and the kinnporsche fandom mirrors many aspects i've seen in kpop as well... the development of solo stans who fight about which of their faves is the most mistreated, the campaigning for solo schedules, the idea that their fave is a helpless victim held captive by the company and needs help from the fans, etc.
also, when i first saw mileapo go to the airport and boc told fans when to go there to see them, i was extremely worried bc i've seen my faves get mobbed at the airport many times and the only thing that works is establishing a strict fan culture of 'don't go to the airport' which maybe has the exception of official schedule (which is clearly marked different bc press will be there) and 'keep physical distance and don't run after them'. everything that's not announced is private schedule and any photos/infos of private schedule are not to be shared. the kp cast indulges fans by posing for pictures with them, but i wonder when it'll become too much... for my group, differentiating between public and private time works ok mostly, although there are still 'fans' who don't care and share that anyways, but it creates a different fandom environment, i think.
i know that international fans like to see current photos (and since the hype is fairly new, i guess it's also fun for the guys, for now), but at least in my fandom, a lot of the people who take almost professional photos are also stalkers (sasaengs) who buy and trade private (including flight) information. unless it's been officially announced, nobody should know which flight they're taking. if they still know, they've probably bought the info or know someone who has. it's almost impossible to stop that bc sadly there's always someone who will sell it, for the right price. while boc could get better security at the airport, it is still the fan culture that enables this stalking behaviour, especially when they make money from selling the photos as merch to fans. there surely are fansites who are not stalkers, but sometimes it's hard to see the difference and a lot of fans don't even care as long as the photos look good. i know of several fansites of my favourite group who have even been publicly blacklisted by the label, but they still have hundreds of thousands of followers on twitter... if boc does anything, it should be to discourage fans from going to the airport in general, and the fans themselves need to create a different fandom environment where most fans (everyone is impossible) agree on appropriate behaviour and draw clear lines both in direct contact with the artists and online with which accounts + content to share and praise.

When X CALLS ME SHRIEKING ... The Sasaengs Are At It Again
So my phone went off at a quarter to ungodly because
Tumblr media
These pictures are NOTHING LIKE what was perpetrated on Jeon Jungkook at JFK International Airport yesterday.
Tumblr media
These pictures are okay. The press was told - WE were told - IN ADVANCE - that Jungkook would be flying out early. What day, very nearly what time, it was public knowledge and JeiKei is not upset. Video from his departure shows a bowing, happy, relaxed man.
See? He looks FINE. But by the time he landed - not in Los Angeles, as we and the press had been told - but in New York, WHICH YOU WILL PLEASE NOTE I DID NOT DISCUSS ON THIS BLOG UNTIL NOW - the sasaengs were out in force. I had not seen the photos or video at the time I started this post, although I have seen them now. Jungkook WAS NOT HAPPY IN THEM. My guy had his own security team but it apparently also took airport security to assist in getting him to his vehicle. And even then we don't know if he was followed. What I am told happened, as nearly as anyone knows, is that some folks decided to track Jungkook's flight out of Incheon and beat him to JFK. It's not hard to track flight information and given that he was rumored to have been working on a track with Charlie Puth, who is currently also in New York, it doesn't take a lot of brainpower. OR MORAL FIBER OR ETHICS. Worse, I am told, this knot of hemorrhoids was overheard TALKING ABOUT TAEKOOK. I don't know whether it was yelled at him or he overheard it personally but MAN WAS NOT HAPPY. It's not bad enough to try to follow Jungkook into his vehicle, but trying to look for evidence of a hidden Taehyung is a whole other level of inflammatory bullshit that these guys never asked for. I was asked point blank if I had discussed any information regarding Jungkook's travel plans and I was very glad to be able to say that nope, not this lowly blogger, because EVEN IF I HAD PRIVATE INFORMATION I WOULD NEVER SHARE IT. And this is why, kids. This is why. So I woke my ass up from my late afternoon nap and went to the bird app to see what I could glean from it, given X's MASSIVE SCREAMING FIT and what I found was that my personal timeline had zero information. I had to go digging a bit and there it was, a bodyguard holding Koo's M&Ms while security was getting pretty annoyed and telling supposed "ARMY" to GET BACK OFF HIM. Y'all. I saw his face and I wanted to cry. I maybe did. Jungkook was angry. He was not the same smiling, finger-heart-waving man I had seen in Incheon just hours before. He was pissed and even frightened. THIS IS NOT OKAY. ANYONE WHO TELLS YOU IT IS OKAY TO CHASE DOWN SOMEONE AND PHYSICALLY HARASS THEM IS UNSTABLE AT BEST AND CRIMINAL AT SECOND BEST. And based on what I heard last night, it's going to be awhile before solo travel is publicized at all. Because apparently it's not enough to obfuscate the destination, now they're going to have to fly private to a whole other airport and that's not even going to be enough to stop it. As one very prominent Twitter user has said, "it's public record and the taxpayers pay for air traffic control" LIKE THAT MAKES IT OKAY. IT'S NOT OKAY. This is NOT OKAY (and it's happened more than once - this example is from last September but the same account published JK's photos yesterday. The stalker ones.)
Tumblr media
It's one thing to photograph the guys when they are in public and have no reasonable expectation of privacy. From a distance. Without bothering them. But this time distinct efforts were made on Jungkook's behalf because HE DIDN'T WANT SPOILERS. FOR US. And what did he get for it? Crowded, physically harassed and probably a rage-induced anxiety attack. Jungkook doesn't love being mobbed. He didn't want to travel with twelve security when he thought he only needed four. He just wanted to show up and do some stuff without being stalked. Kinda like he did at home just days ago when he was out in a crowd and didn't get mobbed. I'm sad and angry for Jungkook and his staff. I'm embarrassed for those of us who would never do things like this. And I'm PISSED OFF AT HOW WE LOOK AS A FANDOM RIGHT NOW. It's time to stop giving sasaeng behavior a pass. It's time to stop giving high traffic accounts a pass when they move like this. And it's time to stop giving the bullshit this fandom ignores a pass.
I don't care if you have 300K+ followers and speak fluent Korean if you're an asshole who tracks flights and publishes that information but you can't remember Jimin's birthday.
I don't care if your rent gets paid by people who buy Taekooker bullshit so you need to keep 'em active to cover the bills. I DON'T CARE. You act like this you are TRASH, and I am done with you, whether you consider yourself ARMY or not - because I don't.

Rules for Celebrity Encounters
Just, I'm hearing a lot of stories of people being ridiculously invasive in regards to celebrities lately, so I've got some rules.
Don't seek out, sell, or give away information on where celebrities will be. If they want people to know where they are, when they're travelling, they'll tell us.
Don't hang around at places you believe they frequent in hopes of them showing up. That's weird and creepy.
If you happen upon them, DO NOT post their location while they are still there. You wanna tweet 'Hey I saw so&so get a sandwich at BK' then wait until they're gone.
Do NOT take pictures or video of them if they aren't aware you're doing it. If you want to take a picture, or short video, make sure they're aware. Ask them, or indicate what you're doing.
If you ask and they say No, respect that.
Any pictures or videos you take, if they ask you not to post it, or to wait until X day or time to post it...respect that.
Do NOT put your hands on someone without permission first. Ever. This is actually a good general rule for interactions with every human, not just celebrities.
If you see them in a private or sensitive moment, don't interact. Don't take pictures, don't take video, just walk away.
I understand that we have an emotional investment in these people, but we are owed nothing. And the reality is, by virtue of their position they don't have the ability to respond 'negatively' to the attention you're giving them. If you are out and about and someone puts their hand on you and you don't like it, you can be rude, you can tell them to Fuck Off. These celebrities can't. They are forced to maintain a demeanor of kindness even when their own personal space and safety is being infringed on.
I have an incredibly strong memory of an interview from Nicole Richie, I believe on the Tyra Banks show, where she talks about leaving a store and being surrounded by paparazzi. She's barely over 5 ft tall and she was surrounded by a bunch of men who towered over her to the point that she couldn't see outside of the crush of these people. She was fucking terrified. She talked about feeling trapped, afraid for her life, and not knowing what she would even do to try and get out of the situation. I know not every celebrity is a 5 ft, probably about 100lb at the time woman, but even if that person is 6'4" and strapped with muscle, they can still feel that fear. They can still feel trapped. That interview with Nicole was from like 2007, 15 years ago, and I can still remember how scared she looked just TALKING about that experience. I don't want any person to feel the way she felt. I especially don't want any person I care about to feel that way, actual IRL family member or friend, or person that I've developed a parasocial relationship with.

I think it's hilarious that Jimin may be all over the news but he has really mastered the art of sharing while not sharing. He posted this video on his Instagram the other day and everyone was like:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Trying to find crumbs of Jimin's humble abode lol
Jimin is the most private member of BTS. Every time he posts something on social media or has an interview, I smile because he barely reveals anything. He is a mystery. He cleverly withholds personal identifying information from us. Haters have nothing to grasp but the old crap that they rehash over and over. He's so smart. He wasn't class president for nothing. Don't give those haters anything to use against you. Nothing for stalkers to chase after.
Thinking about all the measures that Jimin takes to maintain his privacy brings me back to Jungkook's situation. My heart broke when he said, "I'm human too". I have a lot of different feelings about what he said during the wlive. I mean, he can do and say whatever he wants. But sadly, it won't change the fact that people will continue to invade his privacy. Normal fans already know to respect their privacy. The crazies justified their behavior with things like this is the price he pays for fame, he's in a public space, he smiled at me so he's okay with it, etc. When he addressed the stalking situation, I almost wished he hadn't because you know what goes on in the sasaeng's heads? "OMG he noticed me." Talking about them only encourages their behavior because bad attention is still attention.
A few days after his live, fans are still. sharing. photos of him doing private activities. It's really frustrating and there's nothing we can do to change it. The issue lies with the government and its inability to enforce privacy matters like anti-stalking laws.
Here is Jimin to remind everyone of an important lesson:

some things that people just don't understand
when it comes to showing how much you love and appreciate someone famous, we are NOT doing the same as the sasaeng* and we ARE aware it's not a real relationship, we don't need it to be, most of us don't even want it to be, we DON'T want the sasaeng fans to continue being like that, we hate that kind of harassment just as much as you. We just want to spend our affection on something or someone, and it's such a "pick me" thing to pretend you don't know the difference between being a fan and being a sasaeng and act like that's wrong or being like "lol i'm not like the other fans, i don't give any support to the people whose work i like" like why are you here and not in fuckin 4chan already, let people like things in peace. Liking to post things about the famous people whose work you enjoy is the most HUMAN thing someone does hell, some of those people that we're showing this one sided love to have SAVED us from ourselves. We're literally just doing nothing more than showing how much we appreciate that this person, through their work, motivated us to look for help so we could stop destroying ourselves. Plus, those people are people. They struggle too, some in the same way we do and acting like it's so wrong to want to show you appreciate someone that STRUGGLES A LOT with their own mental health issues and have motivated you to look for help because they were in the same pit of misery you were in is just… being a jerk honestly, i hate this pick me culture in general where people wanna seem superior than others when they're just being a childish asshole. You seriously wanna imply that the one thing that my fucking THERAPIST AND MY PSYCHIATRIST encouraged me to do, which is spending those affection points on those people whose work i like and that saved me from myself, because they were the ones that motivated me to seek help, are wrong?
i'm not gonna stop giving love to someone who saved my life after they went through hell and back themselves. They deserve to be appreciated and i don't care if it's one sided. Their work deserves to be loved and appreciated, and so do they.
*sasaeng = korean term for sickly obsessive fan that often invades their idol's privacy, stalks them and in general harasses them in many ways, by what i remember it's originally a kpop related term, i'm not 100% sure because i'm not in any kpop fandom, but i felt like it could also fit in this context while talking about general celebrities without taking nationality or type of work into consideration.
also yes i'll put the mcr tag cause its the fandom i'm in and well, what motivated me to write this was seeing someone complaining about me simply liking to post pics of gee in a personal blog (????) if you don't like a type of post then just avoid it??? just tap "not interested"??? just block me??? it's MY fucking personal blog and i post whatever the FUCK i want???????? wtf is wrong with those fucking people who think someone asked them anything

Can I ask about exo Chen and his wife people said she a saesang
Sure! **Death** - No, maybe she was formerly? I don't think she was a terrible one, though, maybe a bit obsessive and slightly delusional but not to the extent of doxxing idols or harming them. This card symbolises ending a cycle, beginnings, change and a transformation. She seems to have undergone a lot of change and is a much better person. She seems very emotionally stable/mature now and abandoned the sasaeng habits a long time ago. Thank you for joining me on this reading, if you enjoyed it please give this post a like and follow my acc <3

Lucas is back!!!! With a two part (so far) doc!!!
In case anyone needs to catch up with what's been going on, essentially he exposed a sasaeng and she made up a bunch of lies about him
(Send me an ask if you want me to show you the compilation of proof that fans have gathered that proves that flymetothem0on was lying)
(Also, she is still stalking nct members to this day! Including some NCT Wish members, who are minors!!! Although it's not that shocking when you remember, she has been stalking Mark since he was like 15)
Anyway!! here's the doc!!

***In progress***
2 Things in the fandom that is prevalent
The use of the word "Sasaeng" in a very loose manner.
A sasaeng, or sasaeng fan, is an obsessive fan who stalks or engages in other behaviour constituting an invasion of the privacy of celebrities, specifically Korean idols, drama actors or other public figures.
**Any person, be it a non fan, casual fan who takes a picture of a celebrity or telling the story of the incident, posting it on sc, regardless if accidentally seeing them or meeting them = sasaeng behaviour???**
Fansites = Sasaeng
The Akgae is the same as a Solo stan
Short for the abbreviation of Korean term akseong gaeinpaen (악성개인팬), an akgae means a malicious individual fan. For instance, this applies to those who stan a single member while degrading others.
A Solo stan is a fan who favours one specific member, technically your bias while being appreciative of the other members.
***I'll make this longer when i have a more constructive thoughts about this matter. it's been years since i've written something***

theory: the reason kpop idols sometimes, or often, complain about their group members not having their number saved into their phone is because they have to change it so often due to sasaengs calling them
