Genuinely think they had to kill Dean because there was no way to let him live without fully canonizing destiel.

You’re going to look me in the eye and tell me Dean Winchester lives with both Cas’s death and confession and does nothing about it? No. Dean would burn the world to the ground and personally turn over every stone in existence to find a way to bring Cas back. Dean would dedicate the rest of his life to it if he had to. If Dean survived, he wouldn’t get his apple pie ending unless he got Cas back. He wasn’t going to go out and find a wife, settle down and have kids, not after everything.

Like honest to god, I think an ending that would be more disingenuous to Dean would be to let him live and also give him an ambiguous, blurry-faced generic wife. I think they knew that Dean wouldn’t live on without Cas and since they didn’t intend to full send destiel, they had to kill Dean. It was their only remaining option.

I like this hug amongst the few ones the brothers exchange during the seasons, as it is unexpected. Sam did not expect it, at least.

It should be season 8. Both brothers are tired and broken, for different reasons, and their relationship's being battered from all sides, by Heaven and Hell doing their best to turn their lives upside down.

Dean walks straight to baby brother when he starts talking, apologizing for something. Big brother doesn't want to hear. He wants to feel. As he's not good with words (or, that's what he thinks), he uses his body, his arms.

I love you, baby bro. I'm so happy you're close to me, now.

And Sam, just says yes, big bro, I'm here. I love you, too. Leans into the big arms wrapping around him, and lets his hands close sweetly on Dean's back.

it ever hit you out of nowhere that castiel is living in a dead guy's body and the show just does not care. it does not care. jimmy novak might as well not exist the moment he or claire is out of sight. cas stole a guy's body and his face and his life, and we can't ever talk about it or discuss it in detail because of how fucking horrifying it is that sam and dean's best friend just walks around in a dead guy suit. there's not even a human soul in there anymore. it's just a corpse. stone-cold body snatcher indeed.
