Aphrodite

My experience with Aphrodite as my matron 🌷

As I previously mentioned before in this post, I first began doing witchcraft when I was 17 years old. I had a reading done about which deity wished to work with me and Aphrodite wanted me. I was hesitant because I was a tomboy + alternative in high school so I didn't feel like the Goddess of beauty and love was for me. I questioned her choice in choosing me even though I was seeing signs from her (white doves landed on my windowsill for a year straight). What I didn't realize was that Aphrodite was known more for her beauty and grace, she was also the goddess of war. Over the years Aphrodite has been nurturing, loving, and caring towards me. She has given me the strength and guidance when I needed it the most. Very much so like having a relationship with a mother.

My character development

Working with Aphrodite has given me a "inner glow up". Meaning - I reconstructed my view on what being feminine is, what kind of feminist I am, and acknowledging when I was misogynistic in the past. As well as helping me heal my mother wound and allowing me to be able to see things from her perspective when I was angry with her for her constant mistreatment towards me. I can for sure say thanks to Aphrodite, I am more patient, I am more wise, and I am learning to be soft. In a patriarchal society, being soft, sensitive, or gentle is looked down upon. Living in a society where you have to always be tough or "realistic" is so depressing. It's as if you're not allowed to have dreams, hopes, or desires. Independence is a wonderful thing, but you have to be able to depend on your loved ones at some point, because then you'd be just wearing yourself thin. Since beauty is a popular topic when it comes to Aphrodite, I also noticed a lot of physical changes in my appearance (clear skin, longer hair, fuller lashes, etc) 😳

Spellwork

As for doing spells with Aphrodite, the process is quite simple, I just ask for help and I feel the job gets done. I also give her offerings (she loves apples!!!) when I can and pray to her. From my personal experience, Aphrodite enjoys doing spells that involves quality time. For example, I often include Aphrodite when I do glamour magick or recite my affirmations. For example:

"Thank you, Aphrodite, for blessing me with the most beautiful, glowing clear skin."

🌺 • Beauty and sensuality potion • 🌺

You’ll need:

- Hibiscus / Beauty, love (can be fresh, dried, or tea!)

- Ginger / Lust, sexuality

- Cinnamon / Love

- Milk / Softness (any kind)

-Basil / Love

Instructions :

- Boil half a glass of water, and pour it over all your ingredients (except milk!)

- Wait 10 minutes and fill the rest of the glass with milk

- Stir clockwise while focusing on your intentions! You can say out loud « I am beautiful », « I am hot », « I am sensual »…

-Drink! You can also keep a bit of the potion to make an offering, Aphrodite is a good choice if you work with her

Spell Jar for Self-Love

Here is a post about how to make your own self-love spell jar! Feel free to add, take away, or replace anything from this list.

First find any container.

Then gather your herbs, the ones I used are:

1. Lady's Mantle- To help you become a magnet for genuine love.

2. Calendula- To protect and dispel negative energy. Also drawing light and love into your energy field.

3. Yarrow- Attract genuine, wonderful friends.

4. Red Roses- To help you see the beauty and love around and within you.

5. Sunflower Petals- To help build a healthy ego and for protection against negative energy.

6. Jasmine Flowers- To inspire confidence and inner beauty.

Then gather crystals to add to your jar. I only used garnet crystal chips.

Garnet- known to help you feel secure in yourself. Its purpose for this spell jar is so if you meet unkind people, they can't knock you down you with their words or actions.

The candle I used to seal my spell jar:

Rosemary and Lavender Candle- For protection and healing.

Once you have all of your supplies, find a place you won't be disturbed.

Clean your space energetically (in whatever fashion you choose.)

Place protection around your area (choose whatever method you like to use.)

Then fill your container. I like to add my herbs one at a time, saying out loud the purpose of that herb. And adding crystal chips after every 2 herbs.

When you are done, close the container. (This is optional, you can super glue the rim of the lid to have peace of mind that your jar is permanently sealed and it won’t spill if knocked over.) And seal your jar with candle wax by pouring the wax pooled around a lit candle over the closed lid.

After the wax hardens a bit, use an object with a sharp point (toothpick, pin) and write the initials of your full name and your birthday anywhere on the wax. Then hold it in your hands and say out loud:

“My heart is learning to value itself.

Inner wounds left opened will finally be healed.

Starting today I promise to love myself.

And my inner beauty will be revealed.

So mote it be.���

Congrats! You now have yourself a self-love spell jar! Place it on a spot where you will see it often so you will be encouraged to see yourself with love💖

what you'll need:

a jar

a self love sigil

a tag lock

(red or pink) pen and paper

lavender [love, happiness, peace, protection]

rose petals [love, self love, happiness]

lemon peel, juice, or seeds [purification, healing, happiness]

chamomile [love, healing, protection]

(brown) sugar [complex love healing, healing your self-image]

cloves [love, healing]

cinnamon [healing, love, protection]

honey [love, sweeten the spell]

chili [banish the negativity about yourself, protection]

olive oil [protection, healing]

substitute ingredients you don't have, with things that share the same or similar properties, or just leave them out. use what your have on hand!

what you have to do:

cleanse your space, yourself, and your tools

add all the ingredients to the jar (put honey and olive oil in last)

don't forget to pray over every ingredient, fueling it with your energy, and telling it what you want it to do

write your full name + birthday on the paper

add the paper + your tag lock in

either add the sigil into the jar now, or either glue it on the outside or draw it directly onto the jar

you can now seal it with a pink, red, or white candle, use string to twine around, or leave it like it is

Ok so two things, I read this book and honestly I see why everyone recommends it!! It’s perfect and makes it all understandable while citing sources and not disqualifying science. So absolutely is a great read if you are curious about Hellenic Polytheism.

Second is witchy tip!!! After taking a nice hot shower or bath your mirror will likely be fogged up, so don’t let it go to waste! Draw a sigil for inner beauty and self love onto the mirror (design one for yourself using instinct and intention, it doesn’t have to be pretty) and then place your hand on the mirror and wipe down to active and see your true self (no not your body even tho you are gorgeous no matter what). If you worship a specific pantheon or deity feel free to even add a little prayer to Them too asking for assistance with this.

Thank you for your question 💕

Here's a simple spell I like to use that incorporates both physical and inner beauty:

You'll need:

💖 (Small) mirror

💖 A pink or red candle - Pink resembles self-love and beauty, whereas red symbolises a more passionate love as well as quick action. You can also use a white (pure) candle charged with your intention.

💖 Rose petals or rose oil - symbolising self-love.

💖 Your favorite moisturiser or face cream.

💖 (Optional) Rose Quartz - symbolising beauty and self-love.

Begin by lighting the candle and placing it next to the mirror. Take a few deep breaths and focus on positive thoughts about yourself and your inner beauty. Then, using the rose petals or rose oil, anoint the mirror with the symbol of a heart. While you do this, visualize the love and positivity you have for yourself radiating outwards. Finally, use your moisturizer or face cream to gently massage your face, focusing on the parts you love most about yourself. As you do this, say a positive affirmation about your inner and outer beauty. Use this affirmation or make your own:

"As I feel my skin,

I call upon my beauty and my power.

With the (rose quartz) as my guide,

I radiate confidence and love.

May my inner beauty shine through,

And my outer beauty reflect my truth.

So mote it be."

After you do this, you can also sit for a few minutes holding the item of relevance to you such as a rose quartz crystal in your hand and focus on your intention to enhance your beauty and feel confident in your own skin.

I would always recommend leaving the candle to burn all the way (this consolidates your spell to completion). However, if it is a very large candle or you cannot leave it out to burn safely, that’s alright - when you're ready, pinch out the candle (this pauses your spell until you want to relight the candle and ‘continue’ it, as opposed to blowing out candles which effectively cancels it out).

You can additionally carry the rose quartz (or other item used) with you throughout the day as a reminder of your beauty and power 🌹✨

Remember, true beauty comes from within, and it's important to practice self-love and acceptance. Use this spell as a way to enhance your natural beauty and boost your confidence, but always remember that you are beautiful just the way you are.

Self Love Spell Jar

What You'll Need

A container. You can reuse rinsed out food containers, plastic water bottles. You can also buy jars from hobby stores or dollar stores. Or, you can use anything else you can find.

Lavender (healing, protection, cleansing, and calming)

Jasmine (love and calm)

Rose petals (love, healing)

Rosemary (love, peace, happiness, and mental clarity)

Pink sea salt (cleanse and renew)

What You'll Need (Optional)

Sugar (love, understanding, affection)

Rose quartz (love)

Clear quartz (amplifying)

Paper (pink or white)

Writing utensil (pen, pencil, marker, or anything really). You may use color correspondences with the ink if you want to.

Pink or white candle to seal (color correspondences). Alternatively, you could use ribbon in either color.

Steps

Decide on the intention you have for this working.

Optional: Draw a sigil, write out, or draw a picture that represents your intention on your piece of paper. Add it to your container.

Some examples of intentions would be "I am enough", "I am confident", or "I love myself". But you can use anything you want.

One by one, charge your remaining ingredients with the purpose you want them to have and then add them to your container. An example would be to charge lavender as a healing component and then add it in, so on and so forth.

Add any optional ingredients if you so desire. Be sure to charge them as well.

If you want to use crystals you can either add them to the container or place them on top of it after you seal the spell.

Seal the spell by sealing your container:

You can use a candle to do so by melting the wax over the container. Be extremely careful if this is the option you choose. Please practice fire safety.

Alternatively, you can use a ribbon to tie a bow around the top of your container. This is good if you can not use fire in your environment.

Store in a personal space. Shake once a day while thinking about your intention.
