hi it’s the nif anon! for what it’s worth i’m a white american with zero knowledge of chinese culture. it was the second cdrama i watched (after the untamed). i looked at a tumblr post about who everyone is in the first episode (i think it was the one by tumblr user semirahrose) but other than that i didn’t find it horribly difficult to follow! to be fair i have a somewhat high tolerance for being confused when i start reading or watching things; I always figure it will make sense eventually
