.....roe v wade being overturned is fucking horrific, but as I’ve already seen more than one grumbly ‘why are people still posting casually like nothing happened’ post, it feels like a great time to remind folks that a) performatively posting on social media is not activism and you don’t know what people are doing irl, b) not everyone is American, c) some people really mentally struggle with being surrounded 24/7 by doomposting and misery, d) not everyone is American, e) people often have sideblogs categorised by the sort of material they post, so you might not be following the place where they are posting about roe v wade, f) NOT EVERONE IS AMERICAN -
You had pretty shitty past that deeply traumatized you, yet you use that to build an utopia where everyone is safe, happy and content. You even learn mangic to keep people's dreams safe to make sure no one will ever suffer like you did.
Everything is going fine. Your people are happy, they dance and sing. Your kingdom is constantly growing because it's so great. And then one day a teenager questions you and all you ever did after you literally just told her what's happened to you as a kid and expressed your emotions in a song! Then same teenager proceeds to trigger the ptsd heck out of you because they literally don't understand anything and then you snap.
Then that teenager is super shocked because again, having your home and family burned to a grisp isn't traumatizing at all, and how dare he yell at me? Now they run to their teenage friends to cry about what an evil monster their king is that has literally done no fly harm and kept them and their families safe since before they were even born. And of course those friends say Amen to everything their friend says without second guessing, cause she's so much wiser and him not granting every single wish makes him a villain. Oh and also, trusting a random entity that glows and glitters immediately cause it's cute.
Furthermore they go and pull your whole people on their side and they all just nod and agree. No one even questions why their king even let himself be possesed. Bad king, let's kick him to nirvana, he's evil because this teenager said so.
i miss the time before the dreamer trilogy when i could think about the nebulous state of after-canon in which ronan and adam were raising a child together on a farm rather than the post greywaren nebulous after-canon state in which adam parrish works for the government
So like, is no one gonna talk about the fact that Asha calls Sabino ‘Saba’ which is Hebrew for grandfather meaning either she or some part of her family is Jewish? And I mean when she greets those people at the start of the movie she says ‘hola’, ‘shalom’ and ‘Salam’ that’s Spanish, Hebrew and Arab. Which makes sense since the main religions in the area Rosas is set in is Christianity, Judaism and Islam. And it’s likely Asha could be Jewish.
