SHODO-XX Shin Kamen Rider sets announced
With the movie Shin Kamen Rider now having hit cinemas in Japan, the official Bandai Candy Toy blog has revealed two new SHODO-XX sets to accompany the movie -- Kamen Rider #1 and Kamen Rider #2 are to be released separately, each coming with their own Cyclone rider machine.
Based on the original colour scheme from the 1971 TV Show, Kamen Rider #1 features highly detailed molding to bring out his new slightly more mechanical appearance. Two different scarves are included - one neutral, one flowing in the wind - alongside a selection of hands for action scenes and signature poses.
The most notable feature however is that through swapping out the arms, the longcoat from the movie has been included as an optional piece; recreated through soft parts and made in such a way that it does not impede articulation -- so signature poses and the like are still easily possible.
The included Cyclone features a similarly high level of detail, with metallic paint applied where necessary and the ability to be ridden by its Rider fully integrated.
The Kamen Rider #2 set is much the same as #1, with the same coat, mufflers and bike included. The bike's pipes at the back are gunmetal instead of blue like in the movie, and #2's hands include his own signature pose hands. Aside from colours, #2 features on more main difference -- he is slightly taller than #1, accurate to the movie.
SHODO-XX Shin Kamen Rider #1 and Shin Kamen Rider #2 release as Premium Bandai exclusives in September 2023 for 5,940 Yen each; with pre-orders open now.

March Reading Wrap-Up
Lots of fantasy and sci-fi to give myself the much-needed escapism as the semester picks up. Wasn't expecting them to relate to my courses as much as they ended up doing, but they were enjoyable nonetheless.
~~~
The Three-Body Problem by Cixin Liu - Incredible, like the artistic cousin of Ender's Game. 4/5
Emperor Of The Eight Islands by Lian Hearn - I enjoyed it while I read it, but it didn't feel very memorable. 3/5
Autumn Princess, Dragon Child by Lian Hearn - Started weaving together all the loose threads left floating around at the end of the first book. 4/5
Hagakure by Yamamoto Tsunetomo - So different from the first time I read this but just as beneficial. 4/5
Lord Of The Darkwood by Lian Hearn - Far more intense than the first two books in the series; it keeps getting better. 4/5
Shodo by Rie Takeda - As someone who has just started calligraphy and is really enjoying it, this book was great at laying out all the introductory techniques. 3/5
The Tengu's Game Of Go by Lian Hearn - It connects to the author's other series!! 4/5
Dogs Of War by Adrian Tchaikovsky - I don't have the words to explain what this book made me feel, only that it's an unsung work of art. 5/5
I'm not very good at shodo/calligraphy, but it IS very good for me 🖌️💖
Spent a while kind of meditating on the ideogram for 'nothingness', Mu, attempting it in a bunch of different styles
Feels nice on the brain ✨
The Chinese logogram for “virtue” (德) is etymologically comprised of three parts which mean “road,” “right/only” and “heart/mind.”
In essence, “virtue” is that which steers us down the path of a unified heart, where our actions and dispositions are in accord not only with themselves, but too with nature.
Garagalanda
Shocker Combatman (Medium)
- from Chokorin Mascot
Shocker Day
- by MegaHouse
These chubby little Shocker baddies from MegaHouse immediately found a place in my heart.
I didn't even know these existed, so I was understandably surprised when I saw them at a Newbury Comics location of all places. Tucked between the dump truck of Pop Vinyls and Rubber Mascot Keychains.
The latter of which is apropos, these Shocker Mascots are made from a similar rubber material. But they're far more robust, and have a heft to them. It makes me think there's something more substantial in the core.
Garagalanda is incredible - a very simplified version of the classic Shocker villain, but immediately recognizable. Also, one of my favorite Shocker Cyborgs.
The Shocker Combatman is no slouch, though. He comes in three different sizes - a smaller and a larger version than the one pictured here.
What else can I say? They're very fun little toys that I never expected to find. Less than $10 for some classic 70s monster designs in a cute little form factor.
I'm definitely going back for more. I need to try and get that Ikadevil.
今朝は習字 Form practice this morning. Sometimes I need to sit with a character before I feel comfortable with it. That usually involves breaking the character apart, practicing the strokes within it and then putting it back together. Once I can feel how it the pieces fit together in kaisho (standard) I can explore semi cursive and cursive. This allows me to see how the pieces morphed from complex to a mere curved line. 〜〜〜〜〜 #calligraphy #japanesecalligraphy #calligraphyart #kanji #Shodo #Shodolesson #bigbrushshodo #smallbrushshodo #kuretakefudepen #pentelbrushpen #handwriting #書道 #書道レッスン #漢字 #字 #習字 #大筆 #小筆 #kuretake筆ペン #ペンてる筆 #ReflectiveLearning #飛麗史 #lifelonglearning (at Blue Springs, Missouri) https://www.instagram.com/p/CoPwYGsuYsG/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
