Here is my ranking of all skam Noora and William remakes that’s absolutely no one asked for

1. I’m a sucker for the original so I have to say Noora and William first

2. Now this is really controversial and imma get a lot of hate for it but i’m putting Manon and Charles next. Now i know this is one of the most disliked ones, but i’m only putting it up here because Manon is one of my favorite Noora remakes, even is she kinda did disappear in season 5 and was a big issue in season 4. I loved how close it was to the original story line, which a lot of people don’t like. Season 3 and the issues they had do not really count in this ranking, because if did they would be lower in the list because what Charles did is like so terrible i hate thinking about it. And i wish we could have seen more of them together at the end but yeah, you can hate me for it but we all have our opinions

3. Grace and Daniel have to go next just because the like hatred they have for each other was played really well and the switch was just like amazing. I don’t love skam Austin but I do like them and I really loved season 2

4. Zoe and Senne are definitely some of my favs I don’t really know why but like I just like them.

5. Mia and alex are next obvi, their scenes that different from the original are some of my favorite different scenes from all the remakes. Can we also talk about “winter is coming” i love it so much

6. Now my least favorite and I really don’t know why is Eleonora and Edoardo and I have no clue why but i just dislike them, and I have a huge bone to pick with how he just like casually walks back to her, like boy you should be RUNNING to get your girl back

I have not seen Skam España or Skam NL so they will not be here but once i watch them I will do an updated list

i feel like a skam s4 is yet to understand the difference between the power of perspective and personality transplants. The show's format has so much potential in revealing how a Noora character (for example) might think that she is a proponent of social justice but then is completely blind to the struggles of a Sana character because she's white and non-Muslim (and fails to be a good friend in vital moments). But to change your character's personalities just to inflict pain on your poc main makes no sense. Shitty people abandon their friends when they can't understand their struggles, and though a Noora might be a shitty person, no writer or director wants to paint one of their most traditionally beloved characters that way.

Druck S6 did a good job with this difference. Mailin's ignorance and reluctance to listen damaged her friendships, but it fit with her character. She always preferred stirring the pot over considering how she might harm others, but her prioritization of friendship and communication remained (she is one of the first ones in season 5 to notice that something is up with Nora and asks her about it). So when she feels that Ava is burning their bridge of communication, she lashes out and becomes hostile. In fact, Ava was going through pain and questions which Mailin would never understand and which she didn't want to understand once she felt like she was being blamed and ignored. While she was clearly in the wrong (although some of you crazy whites still hate Ava), her racism and willful ignorance made sense with her character and served to create a meaningful story line.

It all comes down to lazy and inconsiderate writing. Changing your character's personalities instead of letting their flaws show and helping them grow from it only to make cheap drama and isolate your characters of color (which is effective in causing hate towards them with white racist audiences (aka the skamverse)) is poor writing which happens time and time again.
