Yesterday In X-Project - June 14

PHASE 2

2015: Laurie posts about how annoying the need for sleep is. Jubilee posts asking the new residents to ask her questions to get to know her. Felicia posts about going for brunch with her mother. Wanda and Illyana meet and Wanda finds out that Illyana knew a previous version of Wanda (and killed her) while in Limbo. Gabriel and Namor meet and Gabriel decides to take Namor off the mansion grounds to go buy clothes. Molly posts a picture of herself and Wade in front of the Ghostbusters car. Namor introduces himself on the journals and asks where to find nude photos on an iPad. Matt posts about insomnia. Jean texts Cecilia asking if she saw Namor’s post.

2016: Amanda texts John to see if he’s still in the country.

2017: Laurie posts stating that The Great British Bakeoff is better than Masterchef. Rahne posts letting people know that Peter Sallis, of Wallace and Gromit, had died. Wanda posts asking Miles to stop popping up to ask her to say ‘Ugh’. Reed texts Sue asking if she’s disappointed in him for taking so long to hack the government database and promising to do better next time.

2018: Jean-Paul texts Topaz to assure her he’s still alive.

2019: Fear in the Dark: A mysterious letter arrives at the X-Force office; following a lead from that letter, Amanda, Marie-Ange, Doug, and Wanda head to the Empire State Building, while back at the mansion’s labs something unexpected happens; as the Dweller is packing up the spare hammer for transport, she encounters the X-Men; Skirn amuses herself by distracting those in the mansion; there’s a final attempt to stop the heist, but Dweller, Skirn and Cul manage to exit via a portal heading to X-Force's office in the city where the the Dweller's staff is stored and take down Kevin, Artie, and Clea to get it; Sharon makes a post asking what the hell just happened; Clea sends a text to Steve asking if he’s okay; Amanda shares some information about the Dweller; Darcy informs her fellow scientists that they’re going to need to sit down and have a talk about occupational safety in the lab.

2020:

2021: Doug posts assuring everyone that Batman can, in fact, find that particular spot, following a social media uproar.

'2022: Scott asks for people’s suggestions for Danger Room modules based on video games or movies. Jubilee and April tackle the parkour course, and their combined lack of chill makes an appearance.

Best of Marvel: Avengers Alliance

Favorite heroes (female):

Of course I can’t start this list without Wanda. Was she very good? Not enough, but I did like her Infiltrator class for her AoU alt because of having retaliatory Hex Bolts. But this is her default, because I preferred the portrait art.

Phoenix Five Phoenix. Every version of Phoenix in this game was criminally underpowered and I’m putting her here as an excuse to complain about that injustice. This alt did have really good flame visual effects in gameplay, so that’s one good thing.

Omega Sentinel was a lockbox hero who ruled PvP before Shieldbreaker effects became common. She was a strong support character who could protect, shield, and heal teammates. She also could change classes, which made her dangerous due to the powerful effects gained by certain counterclasses.

Shadowcat. With counterattacks and follow-up attacks, and a summon that could set enemies on fire, she was reasonably powerful for a cheap starter character. Her downside was her predictability: Gain Intangibility, hit with her move that doesn’t remove Intangibility, then hit with her big move that removes Intangibility to deal extra damage in round three. A Phased iso-8 on Iron Fist’s K’un L’un move (used for his signature Combo Breaker) completely wiped her out of contention for PvP.

Domino. PvP hero. She had a luck passive that, like Wanda’s and Invisible Woman’s, gave a natural 20% chance to evade attacks. That, plus a fun move set full of acrobatic pyrotechnic stunts named after Daft Punk songs, should’ve been a winning combo. The problem was that these passives were rendered useless when an opponent had, for example, a targeting ability. The game tutorial already unlocked two of them, Black Widow and Hawkeye, so every noob already had characters that could neutralize Domino. This game didn’t do her justice.

Thundra. This lady was overlooked by many, but I had a lot of fun with her in PvE. She was self-buffing and had a power move that dealt an increasing amount of damage the more of her buffs she had when it was used. These were also common buffs that could be granted by some agent gear, items, and sometimes teammates. Cyclone Smash quite literally could hit like a truck. Thundra also had a AoE move, keeping her useful as the number of Protect effects in the game multiplied. But really? I just really appreciated a redhead with abs who beat the shit out of evildoers with a damn chain. Sue me.

Mantis. The REAL Mantis. She had a split move set that featured Pama martial arts, alongside some fancy Celestial Madonna tricks. Sadly, I never quite got the hang of her.

Red She-Hulk. Yeah, the outfit was pretty fan-service-y. But she could bulk up and deal that damage fast. She had the rare Generalist class, my personal favorite. She was the strongest Hulk and would barefoot-stomp everyone into the pavement in PvE.

Jenn as Skirn, Breaker of Men. The first of the Worthy alts. With this alt, She-Hulk was the second best Hulk. This alt only slightly changed her abilities, but the subtle changes improved her massively, making her an overnight PvP phenomenon. She had: Big damage, ability to preempt enemies with an Objection, ability to grant herself extra turns, AoE stun move.

"Yes, but those are fun hills, there are interesting things to look at and listen to," Marik said. He craned his neck and glared at the palace stairs as though they were a particularly thick copse of Perfumed Deadnettle they had to wade through. Skirne felt the same way, though likely for different reasons. "Here, it's just stone and too many people jostling you. All the plants in this city are either dead, in a vase, or weeds. And you know those bastards don't like me."

“You’re too similar,” Skirne said. “Tough as gristle, ugly as sin—” A breathless laugh rushed from her as she ducked out of Marik’s reach, but Veiulf swooped in and held her still so Marik could secure reparations, which consisted mainly of vigorous cheek-pinching.

Hey marvel fans who were into the comics during the early 2010’s

I am writing an Avengers Academy What If spiraling out of the tie in to Fear Itself, and the wiki is pretty barren on the abilities of the Worthy. (Or why Skirn is called the Breaker of Men and Greithoth is the Breaker of Wills) Those two Worthy factor majorly into the plot, but again I can’t find much about their canon abilities. So … anyone know a bit about those two? For reference the fanfic is meant to have elements of a horror story, with Finesse, Hazmat, and Mettle trapped in the remains of the Infinite Mansion as those two members of the Worthy torture and hunt them.

Moment of Awesome - Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman:

During Fear in the Dark, Sue succumbs to the call of a Worthy's hammer and becomes Skirn, Breaker of Men.

Sometimes there was no accounting for her boyfriend, a simple 'I need to go get my phone' had turned into a half hour absence, which probably meant that he'd got distracted with some new idea, and if that had happened then the one place Sue was sure she would find Reed was the labs. The young woman sighed, one thumb hooked into the pockets of her shorts as she keyed open the lab door. "Seriously Reed, I'm just going to get my phone doesn't mean an hour in the lab, it's an amazing day outside and the sun is just... well this is embarrassing." It turned out the blonde didn't know her boyfriend quite as well as she'd thought she did, he wasn't in here after all. On the other hand, the lab was rather more full than usual, a cluster of bodies around a... hammer?

If ever there was proof that curiosity killed the cat this was it. Sue should have turned away, found Reed and dragged him down to the beach as she had planned. Instead, she stepped forward, padding across the floor towards the others, wrinkling her brow as a song seemed to sound louder with each step, almost as if it were a line drawing her in. "Whoever chose the theme song for this gathering, I love it... I can almost remember it, what's the song?" Her eyes fell on the weapon as she slipped between them, "Oh wow, this is one of those hammers everyone's talking about huh?"

Darcy raised an eyebrow. Song? There wasn't any music playing in the lab for once, with chatter over the hammer being enough noise that tunes weren't necessary. Maybe it was something Sue was hearing on her phone. Hopefully. "Yeah, it's one of those hammers. But Sue... we don't have music on right now. Just science." She moved a few steps to block the other woman. Just in case. "Maybe don't get any closer to the hammer if it's singing to you, yeah? Weren't you looking for Reed? I think he's two labs over."

Ty leaned over and inhaled deeply. "I have no idea what any of you are talking about, but it smells GOOD. Like, ribs. And roast potatoes." He closed his eyes in bliss.

Molly looked equally puzzled, meeting Darcy's eyes before looking back to the others.

"Uh...I don't hear anything. Do you have your airpods in?" she said, trying to see if she could see them in Sue's ears. "Nope. Imaginary sounds AND smells. Oh, that's fun." She started to inch toward Sue and Ty. "Maybe you two should avoid the thing, yeah? Sound good? 'Yes, Molly, good idea,'" she echoed to herself, reaching toward Sue to pull her back. "Sue?"

Sue could hear piano notes hanging in the air, the haunting melody punctuated by a violin that seemed to ebb and flow in and out of focus. It was frustrating, the way the song faded into and out of hearing, she took another step forward and another, it was almost here. it seemed to be emanating from that artifact a hammer. The young woman's brow furrowed, her head tilting to the side, confusion dancing through her eyes as she reached out a hand.

"Nah, nothing like that, you can't hear it? Maybe some kind of targeted or specific frequency. I've heard about the technology, but I don't get why and artifact like this would do that, may some kinda defense that's broken down over time?" Taking a half step forward Sue reached out to brush her hand over the hammer's head, maybe there was something broken, that could be why it was fading like that. If she could just figure out... that was as far as a blonde got before her fingers brushed up against it, a loud clang echoing through the room as something seemed to explode, sending papers and equipment flying, kicking up the dust in the room into a cloud.

And left, standing behind after the dust started to settle a figure could be seen, hammer in hand, the silhouette of armour accentuating her figure as she rolled her head from side to side, cracking her vertebrae as a pair of glowing amber eyes flicked over the room, "What's that saying? After a thousand years I'm free, it's time to conquer earth... that'll do." She tossed her hammer from hand to hand, head cocking to the side in a familiar gesture, "Hi."
