Diversity in the MCU

In recent years, Marvel (and Disney) has been making some effort to diversify their stories, characters, and actors/actresses. There is still a very, very long way to go, even in the industry (even in the world around us, really) for proper representation of underrepresented communities.

As such, I don’t know if I have the right to post this, but I do think this deserves at least a bit of a look.

Since you have been in the fandom for a while, what year was the most fun to follow in your opinion ? Like which year was the most entertaining in the fandom

in terms of content i think 2023 beats them all (right ?) and i only started my blog last year so that was "special" i guess

but i have a soft spot for :

2018 : ffh filming all over europe + they both attended a lot of events and were overall pretty active on sm

2022 : i was only lurking here but i remember the vibes on tumblr being so fun. boston/nyc weekends, tomdaya restaurants reviews, tomdayaqna was still active, thinking everyday was the "last" day of tcr filming for two months straight...it was fun :')

Tom and Z were unknown to me before sm ffh. After ffh I watched several of their interviews and immediately fell in love with them. Honestly, I don't care who is Tom's stan or who is Z's stan.

Tbh I'm hardly believe that Fred Astaire would before spiderman 4. My guess spiderman 4 shooting starts in winter 2025 and Paul King said project on early stages, he co-write script so it's will take time,if we not get any casting news and start of pre production in next few months I not see how this will work just by timing. Looking on last Tom pics he pretty buff and should lose some for tap dancing and gait it after FA shooting for spiderman, it's seems too much in 11 months. As for me most reasonable way is sadly stay without work this year too but still take tap dance lessons still during year and keep muscular lean shape for spiderman and after mid 2025 put all forces to Fred Astaire project. He will have free gap before Secret wars.

I stopped paying attention to any Marvel movie after NWH, so I'm clueless about any Secret Wars film (I know it's a team-up movie but that's all I know). As for SM4, I hope they make a movie focused on his character & on his own universe, I don't want another "No Way Home" situation.

And his Peter Parker was born in 2001, he was 16 in FFH because of the snap. They explained this at the beginning of the movie, lol.

The actress playing Madame Web in the movie is a huge miscast, let's start with that (And Venom is one of the most famous SM villains and has Tom Hardy starring in it too, so it's no surprise both movies did so well). I don't like the idea that Peter was meant to be Spider-Man before he was even born. I know FOR A FACT Tom has no cameo in this movie (thank goodness), and I hope he isn't thinking this is a good idea. Like, Tom himself said, he did something special with his trilogy, so if they're going to make something else just for the sake of making another movie then don't do it. They (absolutely) can ruin Tom's legacy as Spider-Man 😬.

Where do I START with this?! There are so many thots that swim around in my head constantly about my bby MJ!

I’ve had a fic that I’ve been working on sporadically for the longest time, which, if I ever get around to writing on it in any serious capacity, should definitely scratch an itch I have! It follows Peter and MJ’s one good week after FFH from MJ’s pov. It’s a really introspective piece, deals a lot with the things that we never really get to see in the movies, like how she actually feels about having figured out Peter is SM, what her relationship with her family is like, how it feels for her to be tentatively dating for the first time, etc etc

I also so want to write a story about MJ before she meets Peter. A whole story about how her life is before he comes into it. Maybe in this version of events they meet for the first time as adults. Maybe they don’t meet at all yet, but with the implication that they will at some point.

I’ve also toyed with the idea of an AUish type of thing that has the same vibe as some of the defining (for me) Black female-led shows of the past decade, like Being Mary Jane, or Insecure, etc. I’m a sucker for a good sitcom and I feel like it would be a fun challenge to situate something like that in a Spider-Man context.

I am hanging off the edge of my seat for @seek--rest Veronica Mars au because I am absolutely in LOVE with the idea of detective MJ and have been for a while. That’s definitely something that would be fun to write.

I generally steer clear of powered MJ fics, but???? I dunno. I feel like that could also be very interesting with the right context.
