Any recommendations for blogs about building/making vivariums for snakes (extra points if it’s bioactive)
Im trying to collect info for when i do eventually make the vivarium for the future corn snake
Also if i manage to make this i will absolutely send photos don’t worry xD
I, uh, actually don't follow any blogs like that. I wish I did! There used to be one here on Tumblr that featured beautiful enclosures and vivarium inspiration, but they stopped posting and I never found another!
If anybody has any suggestions, please chime in!

after escaping containment, we have decided the old cage was not snake-escape-proof and moved said snek to new home, giving her a whole habitat revamp as well. We think it looks pretty good!!!! Snake is currently hiding but hoping she explores around soonish.

GOOD NEWS EVERYONE!
THE ENCLOSURE AND LIGHTING FIXTURE FOR EVELYNN'S NEW BIOACTIVE SETUP WAS FUNDED!!
I am so absolutely elated about this! With two of the biggest and most daunting parts taken care of, now we just need all the little things that will go in it! This includes things like the substrate mixtures, clean-up crew (isopods), plants, various decor, and other cool features I want to give her!
If you would like to help contribute to the building of Eve's new setup, then please consider funding anything from my --> Throne Wishlist Here! <-- Or you can donate to me directly via --> My Paypal --> My Venmo
Thank y'all so much, any support really means the world to us <3

This is probably overkill for my snakes new enclosure stand, but I'll be damned if imma let there even be a chance that this thing fails when a heavy 4x2x2 ft tank is on it.
Also I don't have AutoCAD at home, so Blender is my next best tool.
I think I'm addicted to CAD softwares........

Last Saturday was the day for upgrades! Mantises got a big upgrade and I redid Ramen & Luna's tank. I'll show the mantis upgrades soon but for now here's the tank!

Please ignore my messy desk, it's nothing too fancy but it's pretty for a quarantine enclosure and they really love the new hidey spaces and vine to climb on!

Putting the finishing touches on my tank set up for my first ball python I'll be getting in a couple days! I'm starting her in a 40 gallon tank with aspen and a sphagnum moss humidity box because I think that'll be the safest option to start with, but I'd like to switch to coco husk substrate once I have a better grasp on the heating. Since its a big tank and she'll most likely still be pretty small I cluttered up the space and added smaller hides as well as the larger ones. And I still have plenty of extra fake plants to add if she seems uncomfortable. Because the heat mat doesn't seem to be increasing the overall temperature Im also going to add a ceramic heat emitter so hopefully that will help. I'm very nervous about making sure she'll be happy and healthy but I figure the best thing I can do is keep a close eye on her as she's settling in and make changes as I go.

Im planning on making a (possibly bioactive) vivarium for a future corn snake, I have roughly 1m72 x 70cm free space on my floor which feels a bit small for me, is there a way I can compensate by adding more vertical space (I have about 60cm free and I can maybe have it be more of an L shape if I build it around the window, allowing me to make one section taller) and will that cause any issues for the snake and for the vivarium
Oh this sounds like fun!
Adding vertical space is always an option for corn snakes. They can be quite active climbers, given the opportunity, and I could definitely see adding basking shelves and climbing branches as being a great way to maximize enclosure space. The question of whether that would cause issues for the vivarium, though, is dependent on a number of variables. It sounds like you're building this from scratch, which gives you the opportunity to trial-and-error a bit with a planted bioactive setup before you add a corn snake.
My areas of concern would be moisture proofing, air flow, humidity gradient, heat gradient, light gradient, weight of the vivarium, ease of maintenance and cleaning, security against tipping, and security against snake escape.
If you're a handyperson or you're working with a handyperson to ensure that a snake's needs are being met while keeping the build sturdy, and you are patient enough to dial in your settings for a while while the viv cycles, I think this could be a very rewarding and beautiful project.
I wish you the very best time assembling and filling it!
(please send pictures if you do it I wanna seeeee)

Oh hey, btw, I have a THRONE WISHLIST NOW!
Visit my wishlist here!
Wondering what's on there? Largely, a bulk of the materials I'll need to build my ball python, Evelynn, a brand new enclosure that should (ideally) last her many years of her life!
Should items on this list start getting funded, I would love to share the process of me putting all this together for my beloved noodle. All the building, crafting, painting, and engineering lol
Plus! I aim to install some cameras in the new enclosure! Meaning higher quality snake cams during streams!
If you want to help me put together an insanely cool enclosure for Evelynn, see the process, and get a HD snake cam, then please take a look at the wishlist! There's a lot on there and several things have crowdfunding enabled!
Let's give this silly (not so) little noodle the home and enrichment she deserves uwu

snowjanus // holy martyrs reprise (written by me!)
i actually still don’t know what i’m doing on here but the poem (excerpt?? screenplay-esque drabble??) is built off of aesops fables and loosely inspired by the wonderful fic “kill your darlings” by @super-nova5045 on ao3, which i’ll link in the comments
