yknow i was gonna make a post about how happy I was to see the show acknowledge adhd/dyslexia/learning disability stuff and the way they handled and showed Percy's experience with that system, and how it influenced his reactions to things. But i'm honestly glad I didn't because WOW the show completely ditched all of that immediately. There was set-up for a really interesting arc about the demigods = neurodivergence metaphor and "You are singular" (pun off of "half-blood"/"demigod" and a very direct rejection of the "puzzle" metaphor for things like autism) and a very quick acknowledgement in like episode 2 of an off-hand "oh yeah all demigods are like that (adhd/dyslexic)" and then. nothing. absolutely nothing.

heck, they even changed the design of the zoo van (in the books very explicitly a black van with white text, which Percy notes specifically because white-on-black text is more dyslexia-friendly) which is a personal affront to me because That's My Dyslexia-Friendly Van, How Dare You.

i know some people have argued that maybe Annabeth pausing in the store was supposed to be her having a dyslexia moment, but if it was then we would have gotten the Dyslexia Effect™ on the text (and dont tell me they didn't have the budget for it cause HAVE YOU SEEN THEIR BUDGET FOR THE SHOW? They clearly haven't been using all of that). It's almost definitely supposed to show that Annabeth hasn't been in mortal spaces in a very long time and is, yknow, a kid, being indecisive of which snacks to buy.

i have said it before and i'll say it again: the core of PJO is disability. You can never remove that, or else it is no longer PJO. The heart of the series will always be a story made for an ADHD/dyslexic kid to help them learn about and be interested in mythology, and if you stray from that it's going to be very noticeable very fast. Almost every character in PJO has a learning disability. The entire series is framed as a way to introduce kids to mythology in a fun way and emphasize those themes of mythology being important even in modern day with how it still affects our lives, to ask you to look at what lessons we can still learn from these myths and how they apply to modern lives, and that you can be a hero not despite your disability, but alongside it. That is the core of PJO, always and forever. And the show failed that.

What’s Griffiths age? Specifically the age gap between him and Charlotte. I always assumed he was a year older then Guts but I don’t know if we know that for sure

The only thing we know about his age in the manga is that Guts thinks they're about the same age during the waterfight scene, which would make him about 15. Fast forward 3 years, and he's about 18 during most of the Golden Age. Charlotte is 17. So their age difference is approximately one year lol.

You might have assumed he's older than Guts because the Berserk wiki says he's 3 years older for some reason. I thiiiink it's something to do with OVA info, maybe something in the art book? But yeah that contradicts the manga and isn't canonical. I believe the official guidebook says they're the same age. And I mean the guidebook isn't a great resource lol, but in this case it's true to the manga.

It's also possible you assumed he's older because he arguably looks or at least acts older than Casca in flashbacks, and you're assuming Guts and Casca are the same age. I feel like I've seen a few fans who've headcanoned their ages that way. But honestly I think Griffith just acts mature because he's been a leader since he was like 10 or whatever lol, I don't think he's notably older than either Guts or Casca.

(Some people will kill me for this) I watched Neon Genesis Eva back in 2021-ish and the more I think about the show the worse the show gets, I think its a very pretty show, Especially with the strain the animators were put under. But the character writing is pretty awful regarding all of the women in the show, and even disregarding misogyny as a element (Which it IS) The show builds so much momentum just to do nothing with it, This show has a lot of potential it throws away to focus on asuka or whoever shoving her ass in the camera. The themes of human connection are surface level at the best and misguided especially for a audience of 14 year olds at the worst.

Its such a mixed bag I enjoy talking about mostly cause I can find no one who agrees with me, half of the people I encounter just enjoy the cool art anyway and I can get behind that, I just find it impossible to ignore the many many issues with the writing.

Not in a "Someone purposefully manipulated them to turn against each other and destroy their jointed business partnership from the inside out"

And more of a "They were purposefully physically seperated one by one so that none of them could give support to the others and vice versa when they need it even if they want to give it. So now they're all seperately fucked because they're stronger together, not away from each other"

Now admittedly, this would be pretty hard to achieve. Especially since we know that Vox can teleport anywhere as long as there's electronics. We don't know if Valentino and Velvette has similar powers but they could have.

Still, personally it'll be pretty interesting for me to see the Vees break down because they aren't able to support each other like usual instead of turning against each other like other possible villain groups.
