1. Who most initiates PDA?

well let's just say that Viktor didn't expect Archemorus to be nearly as much of a snuggly cuddler as he is. dude's like a goddamn octopus.

5. What is their love language?

Oooo I always have issues with figuring out love languages for characters, but --

They both like to give gifts, so jot that down! In the AU before they even confessed to one another, they gave each other little gifts. Archemorus hand-made a little carved turtle figurine for Viktor, while Viktor gave Archemorus a similarly handmade stone ring.

Both of those gifts are meant to be romantic in their cultures, bc they're gay idiots

Aside from that, Archemorus definitely leans towards physical touch as a love language, while Viktor leans more towards acts of service.

7. Who is more sentimental?

Oh they both are. I'm just going to gesture at the aforementioned gifts in the previous question, and at Viktor's whole line about being "lost souls that stayed together"

Viktor is very much the type of dude to wax poetic about the most gay and sentimental shit in existence.

8. What’s one way their personalities compliment one another?

Archemorus is far more impulsive (act first, ask questions later), while Viktor is significantly more prone to thinking before he acts. But on the other hand, Viktor tends to overthink things way too much. So they offset each other very well in that regard, with Viktor tempering Archemorus's impulsiveness a bit, and Archemorus getting Viktor out of his own head.

13. Which member steals borrows the other ones clothing?

Well. Anything Viktor wears would be a little too small for Archemorus to wear comfortably... And Viktor wouldn't even considering borrowing anyone else's clothing.

So realistically, neither? But Viktor would agree to wear anything of Archemorus's if Archemorus specifically asked him to. (And promptly feel very awkward about it lmao)

26. How do they comfort each other?

It really depends on what they're comforting each other about, but generally Archemorus tends to urge Viktor to look on the bright side of things if possible (Like when Viktor is sad about Arborstone, Archemorus comments that while it's not the same, it "still breathes".), and I feel like Viktor's way of comforting Archemorus is just... Being there. His presence and willingness to just listen and be there for Archemorus is definitely comforting.

27. What random everyday object/activity makes them think of each other?

Books always make Archemorus think of Viktor, while anything relating to water/boating/fishing/etc remind Viktor of Archemorus.

34. Do they give each other nicknames?

Well Archemorus has his canon nickname of "Vikky" for Viktor, and I wouldn't be surprised if he occasionally uses "Vik" as well

Viktor is too prim and proper for nicknames. (He doesn't mind pet names though! He will absolutely call Archemorus his beloved, like the gay motherfucker he is)

40. Who makes the other smile with almost no effort at all?

BOTH OF THEM. Literally just about anything they do will make the other smile. They're such gay idiots.

If the Asian and Egyptian versions of the Cinderella story really are the oldest versions, then it's very interesting to see how the story of Cinderella has done an about-face between those early versions and the most recent adaptations.

In the Egyptian tale of Rhodopis, the Chinese tale of Ye Xian, and the Vietnamese tale of Tam and Cam (among others, I'm sure), the heroine and the king she ultimately marries don't meet before she loses her shoe. He just finds the shoe, or some other person or animal finds it and brings it to him. He determines from how small and delicate it is that it must belong to a very beautiful woman, so he resolves to find her and marry her, and he does.

These early proto-Cinderellas and their kings don't have time to fall in love before they get married, unless we assume that love at first sight takes place. The point isn't that she finds true love: the point is that she escapes from her unhappy circumstances, marries a king, and becomes a queen. It makes sense that it should be that way, since in those cultures (and most others) in ancient times, marriage was probably very rarely for love. The heroine's escape and social advancement are the central wish-fulfillment.

But as the tale travels to Europe and becomes the familiar Cinderella, it changes. The heroine and her prince (as he tends to be in European versions instead of a king) now meet at the ball or festival she attends in her magic finery. They fall in love there. The search for the girl who fits the slipper isn't just for a girl presumed to be beautiful based on the smallness and daintiness of her shoe, but a search for the girl the prince already loves yet has no other way to find.

The central wish-fulfillment changes from just "the heroine escapes from abuse and marries into royalty" to "the heroine finds true love, escapes from abuse, and marries into royalty."

Stage and screen adaptations from the 19th century onward often take this change a step further, probably both to increase the romanticism and to prevent anyone from accusing Cinderella of being a gold-digger. They have Cinderella fall in love with the prince without knowing he's a prince, and only learn his identity later. The fact that he is royalty comes across as just an added bonus for this Cinderella, who was perfectly content thinking she had found a poor but loving man.

And now, in the 2020s, a new trend has emerged in adaptations. In no less than three recent Cinderellas – Andrew Lloyd Webber's 2021 musical, the 2021 Amazon/Sony Pictures movie musical, and the 2020 storybook Sootypaws that retells the story with mice – the heroine and her prince fall in love, but they don't get married and she doesn't become royalty. On the contrary, falling in love with Cinderella makes the prince realize he doesn't want to be king after all, so he abdicates his throne, letting his convenient brother or sister reign instead, and the two lovers set out to travel the world together.

The theme of the heroine escaping from abuse is consistent. But when it comes to what else she gains, we've shifted from "the heroine marries into royalty" to "the heroine finds true love and marries into royalty," to just "the heroine finds true love," and with added emphasis on gaining freedom.

This change probably says a lot about the difference between today's Western culture and the cultures of ancient Egypt or China.

I'm still grieving over the loss of my dog, Lorenzo, but I want to thank you all for the kind comments. It was really nice to read when I logged in

I've collected all his pictures and videos into one folder so I can look back on him, when he was full of life and bringing me joy. It's really helping me to cope with the loss, looking at how happy he was. I know I did the best I could for him for those 14yrs we've had together

I'll miss him dearly, and I know I'm gonna be choking up every time I see his empty dog bed, but I feel a bit at ease knowing he had a really good life growing up. He's been to a lot of places, got to eat all kinds of doggy treats, had so many soft squeaky toys, and got to sleep in my bed more often than in his own lol

So again, thank you all for commenting and sending your condolences. You're all so kind and I really appreciate it <3

Okay, I ended up making a sideblog for Pokemon OC stuff! It’s still a big WIP and for now it’s just really Swords of Justice themed, because honestly I didn’t know what else to theme it around.

That and I really just have Swords of Justice OC content to share for now lmao

Anyway this blog is going to be where I talk about the verse that I have with my partners @sootypaw and @feyshine! It’s still a WIP itself but the general gist of it is:

It takes place in the regions of the main series, but doesn’t have humans. Every canon character is a Pokemon themselves. The verse has both feral and gijinka forms for Pokemon.

We’re planning on playing through the games of each generation in order, with Kanto already out of the way. We’re still developing its story but I’ll share what I can of my side of things when I have things to share!

For now, mostly what I have to share is some Unova stuff, as this verse got started with some Unova related stuff.

family info:

- currantstar and ferretface are brother and sister.

- currantstar and sleekpetal are mates; she is expecting his kits but has not admitted herself to the nursery yet.

- gravelbelly and sleekpetal are siblings. whitestone is their father

- tawnyscratch and dawnflower are the parents of peachpelt, littlestripe, and breezethroat.

- blackthistle is the father of rookfeather and nightwater.

- gullflight is the mother of mudslip, fernpaw, minkpaw, sootypaw, and sludgepaw. mudslip is half-siblings with the apprentices and a couple of years older than them

- garlicscar and whitestone are brothers.

- rumor has it that adderthorn of windclan and thornbranch had an affair at some point, and twigpaw and marblepaw of windclan are the results of it; but neither has confirmed it.

other info:

- currantstar puts a heavy emphasis on shadowclan 'looking nice' for the other clans and seeming 'perfect', which is why he draws his clan's ire. this is also why many cats deemed 'ugly' don't appear at gatherings.

- addertooth is the oldest cat in the clan, but refuses to retire.

- whitestone was originally elected currantstar's deputy because it would make sleekpetal more likely to elect currantstar as a mate. whitestone despises currantstar for this reason especially and wants to give up the role of deputy as protest.

- gullflight is the current leading matriarch, and is currantstar's closest friend. dawnflower was the leading matriarch before her. like sparrowpetal in windclan, breezethroat has become a permanent queen like her mother.

- rosettepelt, gullflight, and goldenthorn were all originally kittypets. roachstripe was originally a rogue. shadowclan is pretty lax about non-clan cats joining their ranks.

- the clan dislikes currantstar greatly (with a few exceptions like ferretface and gullflight).
