[TS3] Lot Population Mod
Update 7/18/23: Fixed issue that caused custom tuning to not take effect.

Overview
This mod is an experiment that's been in my mind for a while now - Teleporting Sims into community lots as you send your Sims to them, or focus the camera on the lot, etc. Making the town feel more alive, and making it so that community lots are always populated. This makes it work more like a traditional open world game, in which characters are spawned based on camera distance, where you're looking at, etc.
Not only that, it also adds walkbys, much like TS2 or TS4. These are Sims that every once in a while spawn on a sidewalk, out of view, and walk across the screen, then go on their own way.
Now community lots will be filled with Sims.
Installation
2 flavors are available:
"ld_LotPopulation.package" - Default tuning, should make worlds very populated.
"ld_LotPopulation_Reduced.package" - Reduced tuning, should make worlds more lightly populated.
Simply drop the package of your choosing into your "Documents/Sims 3/Mods/Packages" folder.
All tunable values are documented in the XML. There are quite a few of them, but the most important one is probably the "kDemographicsMultiply" value.

More Technical Overview
In case you're curious about how it works more in depth, community lots have a population quota now. This quota depends on a ton of factors, such as time of day, weather, day of the week, demographics, etc. And is different across different lot types. For example, beaches will be booming during hot summer weekends, not so much if it's winter and snowing.
The amount of Sims that are teleported into lots tries to fill this quota. On top of that, Sims will also get pushed to visit lots to fill the quota, so if for example the camera is permanently facing a lot in a way that doesn't allow for Sims to subtly teleport to it without it being super obvious, the mod will push Sims to visit instead.
Sims are also chosen depending on a range of factors such as personality, age, occult status, etc. And they're placed on a "low priority" list for a while upon teleport. This way you won't see the same Sims everywhere.
Teleported and visiting Sims will also get appropriate outfits, needs and will immediately pick something to do, in order to make it more believable.
Walkbys use lot corners as reference when looking for sidewalks. So this feature is most effective with a decent amount of lots on the world.
There might be some lag every once in a while unfortunately. This is kind of necessary, as it tries to find spots that are actually routable to teleport Sims to, so that they're not stuck. If you find it particularly bad, you can try the reduced tuning version.

Dark features/people as blessed, white and light people as sick

I'm writing a fantasy story where the world is permanently covered in snow & ice. The people share a common culture & are loyal to their city states, but they are not homogeneous in appearance; there will be many, many characters coded as PoC. The main religion centers on the sun, & those with dark features are 'favoured' by the sun god, while pale people or anyone who has white/blonde hair are thought vulnerable to "snow sickness", a disease caused by environmental factors (1/2) & have other rules and customs to gain religious approval. It's dangerous & infectious but not well understood. It affects social standing and opportunities, but it's meant to be tied with ideas of youth, vitality, & fear of aging & sickness: it's not limited to those coded as white. This is a cultural detail and not part of the main conflict, but I want to avoid unintentional allegories/parallels & fetishization. Is this a concept that's too close to crossing any of those lines? (2/2)
This feels less like a means to show dark skinned people in an empowering light and more like a weak attempt at subversion. My primary concern (which you have not specified) is how do the "blessed" class treat the "sickly" so to speak. We have fantasy stories like The Grisha Trilogy and Girls of Paper and Fire, which deal with magical ability/feature-based segregation and conflict.
In both cases there is a sense of entitlement which comes with hailing from the "favoured" class, quite obvious, since there will always be an inherent othering metaphor whenever you create such a division, whether it was meant to be a source of conflict or not.
However, the two mentioned series use the "magical people are blessed, non magical people are to be pitied" arc which is somewhat more subtle than divisions created just on the basis of skin colour.
Disclaimer as I do not have albinism or vitiligo: The latter can be extremely harmful, and not just in a racial context, but in cases of albinism, vitiligo etc.

The pitfalls of subversions
While it is always lovely to see dark features considered in a favorable way, there are some issues you may come across. Such a story could easily end up dressing those you wished to uphold as bad guys in the readers' eyes, even if the story's society and the sun god etc. thinks they're amazing, and white and light people as the victims of dark people, deserving reader sympathy. This may especially be the case based on how these groups get treated in the story.
These sort of subversions lean dangerously into "reverse discrimination" plots which are not overall accurate or favorable allegories for your real, human audience. There being diversity on both sides doesn't necessary fix this issue or remove racial or ethnic implications. On that note, and as Mimi mentioned, being demonized and ostracized particularly for skin and genetic disorders like albinism is already a thing. What does your concept say of them?
I think Dark/Black as good and Light/white as bad is a doable concept. Your concept differs a bit from simply subverting black/white tropes. This is not just Black good guys and night skies being peaceful or neutral. It's not just white/light villains (as opposed to victims) or snow symbolling death or sickness.
White and light people are quite blatantly being declared as sick and unfavored and they may very well be victims in the reader's eye with the dark people being the villainous, unsympathetic bunch. Is this your intention?
More to consider
Such a concept requires thoughtful, careful planning and intentional writing. You should have an understanding of what your story implies to the readers and the real-life takeaways.
I think it's possible to make dark skin the favored skin of the sun god without it meaning white/light people stand in a negative light and are sick or unworthy.
Consider what it is that you like about the concept of your story. Can you keep the essence of whatever it is that excites you about your ideas, without denying a whole group of people favor? If not, how will you go about telling such a tale that is not meant to symbolize a sort of reversal of roles discrimination?
Why does the sun god get to determine what is good?
Are there other gods that might have different strong opinions? Perhaps who is favored varies by time of day, season, region, culture, god?
Can dark skin get its favor without white and light features being deemed unfavorable as a whole?
How big of a deal does this favor have to be? I advise reconsidering it being the point of discrimination to white/light people for all the reasons already described.
No matter the directions you go, please research and get the appropriate beta-readers for feedback on the in-depth concepts and story.

Several people on Twitter have commented that there isn't enough Ineffable Tutors content out there, and I have to agree. The book doesn't go into very much detail about what Cortese and Harrison get up to in the years they spend educating young Warlock, and as a fic writer there's nothing as much fun as a blank space to play in. Headcannon Dumping
-The Blue Lake is a saltwater lake, but the salt filters through the ground making the rain not salty. Miners then mine the salt from the side or under in the lake.
-Vessels that either gain better ability/control of soul or inherited plant-ness of their mother, they can continuously gain soul from the ground beneath them or even in the air.
-Dirtmouth has an open sky above it, so it is home to a snow festival and lantern lighting events along with winter stolses.
-Important members of the court or guards have spells placed among them to make them live longer. Those would be: Monomon, Quirrel, Lurien, his butler and The Great Knights.
-I think the Pale Court mod actually encompass how The Great Knights would have fought in Hallownest glory days. But if that was the case, then I would think that every other boss would need to be upped like Pure Vessel, Hive Knight, maybe the Nailmasters.
-The Archives operates as a University or maybe a grad school for anyone in the STEM field. The archives also operates as a school for kids who are unfortunate, like orphans or for those who are considering an higher education but their area doesn't have it, like those in Fungal Wastes or Greenpath(not like those places done have any education, they have a different type that can't be applicable all around Hallownest).
- In game, the crystals in Crystal Peaks were apparently bought as they were admired by Hallownest individuals even though we only see the crystals in peaks(and I don't know what PK would allow objects to be sold with The Radiances influence in them). This would have been one of PK's sources of research on how to defeat her.

-The amount of vessels that died in The Abyss is the same amount as the bugs that were killed by the infection. It's like would you kill a million people to save a million people, but pk ended up killing 2 million people all together
-Void doesn't just stain things black, it washes color out. If there is a black spot of void colorful wallpaper and you are able to wipe it away, a light outline of the design would stain but it would be pale white color.
-On contrary to some beliefs, you actually can't apply to become a Great Knight either by good, bad or questionable actions(I was brainstorming how all of the Great Knights got recruited, and I will make a dedicated post to it).
- Not everything in Hallownest is actually Hallownest. Forgotten Crossroads, Dirtmouth, City of Tears, Waterways and Queens Gardens are actually part of Hallownest while everything else is a territory of Hallownest and is partly governed by it.
-PK has eyelids along with eyeballs. You can see the eyeballs from the reflection in the dark but both of them are very very dark, making his eyes to appear hollow.
-This headcannon is depending on how much I want PK to suffer, but he can permetly go blind. Wyrms don't have sight, so when he can actually see his body is unable to support it and just degrades.
-There are Queens idols with the king's idols, but they aren't seen around as much as kings idols as the king is credited to creating Hallownest. However her idols are found in hospital, mostly in the maternity ward, and the households in new families.

A long post about Castaway stories
I wanted to play Sims the other day, but I'm already tired of the usual Sims, like the Sims Medieval. And I remembered the existence of Sims Stories.
This game turned out to be so pleasant and bright for a cold and cloudy winter! It's so warm!

But in order to play it fully, like in Sims 2, you need to set it up first. And it's not that everything is difficult, but I suffered.
1.To begin with, as in the case of Sims 2 - Graphic Rules Maker

In the drop-down menu, select Castaway or find it manually.
In general, the setup is similar to Sims 2 and there are many guides on this topic, but I want to clarify that if you are going to use the reshade, then you need to check the box next to the "Disable Dirty Rectangle".
2.Then, as in the case of Sims 2, you need to patch the game to avoid crashes.
3.I haven't checked if the RPC launcher works for this part. But if you don't have it, then here are the instructions for installing the ReShade.

4.Next, install mods and cc.
Just like in Sims 2, create a "Downloads" folder in the documents.
And don't be like me - don't forget to enable this option. I've broken my whole head why only floors and CAS items work, but buy mode and hacks don't…

On the MTS website, it is recommended not to install mods until you complete the main plot, otherwise it may break. I haven't experimented with this, but cc for CAS and for buy mode don't break the game.
5. My must have list of mods:
1)Garden Crop and Ultimate Fruit Collection - An absolute musthave, because in any survival there should be gardening as a constant source of food. I moved all the plants to the "general" section in the simpe, which corresponds to the "Nature" section. Otherwise, they will simply have nowhere to appear.

2) Woodworking bench - That was the first thing I thought about when I started playing this game. It works great, but! Do not try to make a guitar, a violin and a shelf, otherwise the table will freeze. I cut out all these functions from my desk and put it in the "Survival" section (corresponds to the "Sitting-rest" section), which I advise you, otherwise it will appear in the mirrors by default.

I am still actively playing this game and sometimes I correct/add to the list. Everything in it is used in my game together, there are no conflicts.
Be careful with the mods for autonomy! Many of them disable the entire autonomy of the game

At one point I had said Tango is a being of pure energy. The Deep Frost Citadel is caused from Tango absorbing all the thermal energy in the area. Reverse Global Warming
As he builds, he expends energy, and he absorbs more and more from the atmosphere to keep going. It wasn't until the first flake of snow fell on him that he realized he'd been forgetting to eat in the peak of focus. Without burning food, his pure energy body found fuel from another source. At least it's thematic! He appreciates the effect, but he sets a reminder to eat, anyway. It wouldn't do to have the winter spread too far...

Heated Heft: Chapter 1
This story is inspired by the Starbound mod "Starpounds" by ShyDispatch
Eight days. It had been eight days since you were abandoned by your team on the frozen planet of Corsu 6. It had been two days since you ran out of rations, and not long ago the heating malfunctioned and broke.
You rub your thin, empty belly as it groans angrily. You're running out of options and it's becoming difficult to ignore the hunger pains.
There's one option. One that's been sitting out there in the snow, tempting you with its nutritious abundance. You shake your head and turn away from the window, clutching your stomach as hunger pains grip you once more.
Corsu 6 wasn't a barren world. Far from it, but the conditions were obviously less than ideal. Beyond the freezing temperatures, most of the available food on the planet was inedible to humans.
There was only one edible food source on this entire planet. But you've already seen the consequences of consuming it. It's why you're trapped here in the first place.
Your colleagues had concluded that eating them was safe, but just be safe, it was asked that a volunteer test them.
They were small creatures without arms or legs, just two, large protruding ears that reminded you of a bunny rabbit's. They were effectively just balls of dense fat and sugar and, as it turns out, they were also highly addictive.
After eating the first, the volunteer, a young woman named Emily woke up 20 lbs heavier the next morning, and with a new found craving for the "Lardlings".
The other scientists tried to stop her from eating more of the creatures, but she always found a way. Other the next couple of months she ballooned to ridiculous sizes. Suffice it to say, she lost mobility and had to be removed before anything else happened to her.
Of course, someone needed to stay behind to keep the systems running, and you drew the short straw. You've no idea what happened to the ship or it's crew. For all you know, Emily ate them all you suppose, chuckling to yourself.
Another stab of pain in your gut ruins your brief moment of amusement.
The way you see it there's three options. Starve to death, freeze to death... or... You look down at yourself, unzipping your jacket to reveal your slender frame, flat stomach and modest boobs.
You sigh, shaking your head. Death was never going to be an option, so what if you got fat? It would be better than being unalived by your own ego, you think to yourself. Only, Emily wasn't just fat. The last time you saw her she was completely immobile.
Your thoughts drift to the number of chins... Her hands and feet slowly being enveloped by blubber... Her enormous backside, capable of swallowing a whole couch... And how her tits and belly were competing for the crown of "fattest body part".
But that was only after two months. You've only been stuck here for little more than two weeks! There's no way it would take THAT long before you were found... right?
It only takes one more hunger cramp for you to angrily storm towards the base's main entrance. It's an airlock built to keep out the cold, as well as basically anything else. The room is huge, designed to accommodate a whole away team... or one massive blob, you suppose.
Once the door behind is secured, the one in front of you swings open to reveal the snowy landscape of Corsu 6.
Your booted feet stomp through the snow as you make your way away from the base and into the snowy tundra. The Lardlings are everywhere, just rolling around happily in their own blubber. Was "happily" even the right word? Analysis had revealed the things were basically brainless, only possessing a rudimentary nervous system.
As such, it's no surprise that the thing just lets you pick it up without so much as a squeak from itself, or from the other Lardlings around you.
It's heavy... A lot heavier than you were expecting, but that probably explains why there's so many calories. You hold it steadily and trudge back towards the base, cradling it in your arms.
Back inside, you plop it down on the dining room table and sit down before it. It jiggles softly with each mindless movement. You stare at it, unsure how to proceed. You poke it, sending a ripple cascading across it's soft flesh.
You remember seeing Emily just stuffing them straight into her mouth and swallowing. Sitting down in front of the Lardling, you're really not sure how. They aren't small creatures. You estimate that it's as big as a bowling ball.
You lift it up again, this time being more explorative. It's so soft! Squishy and fat, it was almost like holding a loosely filled water balloon.
You take a deep breath and shove the Lardling into your mouth. Without effort, it slides down into your stomach where it lands with a splash. You double over, the sudden feeling of fullness being a shock to your system.
You feel awful. Filled, bloated and stretched, you stumble back to your room to sleep off the instant food coma you've inflicted upon yourself. Already, you feel heavy... and hot... The rapid changes your body is already undergoing is producing a lot of heat.
You shrug off your winter jacket and climb into bed, slowly and carefully. You're already dreading what you will look like in the morning. But something stirs as you drift to sleep, you begin to absentmindedly caress your bloated orb of a belly.

His ability is Snow Country. Weather shifting pretty much. He can create snow, rain, mist and very dense fog. He can also freeze any source of water he is within a foot of. Basic but i really like it.
Personality- extreme pessimist, and very much dark as well as playful and somewhat pushy. He spends much time at cafe uzumaki or public libraries reading. He's very educated in the occult and dark histories, focusing on the Salem witch trials and such.
Sexuality/gender- Trans masc, asexual, externally aroace, internally bi.(Claims he's aroace, really is bi and asexual)

Opinion on the live action Snow White replacing the seven dwarfs with “magical creatures”? In my opinion it’s the equivalent of Beyonce saying saying she didn’t like how the Muses in Hercules were just black caricatures. So in response Disney cast white women for the live action, completely misunderstanding the original criticism.
I don't know where you're getting your info from but I can't find any evidence that disney cast white women for the muses in Hercules. (please cite your sources I did a preliminary search and I have a terrible migraine so I won't be doing anymore legwork).
Honestly we shouldn't be comparing these two situations to each other. I welcome people citing sources to back up their arguments!

Published: 1-30-2024 | Updated: N/A SUMMARY The Network Materials (NetworkMAT) (Simmons, 2023-2024) series includes assets for building modern road networks in Sims 2. Use these items to enhance your city’s streets, walkways, highways, skyways, bridges, and so on. A collection of modern, retro-futuristic items to construct highways, overpasses, tunnels, and other network structures. Objects have low-to-medium poly counts considering their footprint/actual size – this shouldn’t be an issue on slower computers if you don’t place too many of the higher-poly items on the same lot and mind your game settings.

DETAILS Requires all EPs/SPs. §40-500 | Build > Architecture OR Build > Misc > Fences You need the BBNiche1Master (Buggybooz, 2012) and Plain Glass meshes from the Repository Pack (Simmons, 2023). The two files with “MESH” in the filename are also required. Objects are meant to be used with 1-story or 2-story walls. Rain/Snow will fall through them unless you add floor tiles on top. The Modern Highways (10x10-MESH and 5x5-REPO) are based on CuriousB’s Road Overlay (2012). The footprint and functions differ so unfortunately, recolors must be re-made for this object. The original mesh texture and default textures from NetworkMAT: Streets of 2Morrow (Simmons, 2022).

BUILDING TIPS Default roads in Sims 2 generate at the front of all lots and are typically: 1) 10 tiles wide, 2) run from the left to right ends , and 3) contain two one-way roads going in opposite directions (cars take up 3 tiles and there is a 2-tile margin). You can combine the Portal Revealer (Simlogical/Inge Jones, 2013; 2007) and the updated Drive-By Hydrant (WHoward/Pick n’ Mix, 2023) to manage functional pedestrian/car traffic on your highways. See mod instructions, discussion threads, etc. as there are some limitations involved. I recommend removing the Portal Revealer mod from your downloads folder BEFORE packaging lots.
