So many of you by now have been following the #Colleen-Ballinger situation and have likely been following the #Shane-Dawson situation for years now. Time and time again we've seen it happen, where YouTubers engage in predatory content and get a slap on the wrist. This is dangerous, because minors are able to access their content at any time and get sucked into their fanbases, where manipulation and grooming can and do happen. It's already happened to multiple people in really awful, disturbing ways. As audience members, we hold tremendous power with YouTube, and I think it is up to us to finally hold YouTube accountable and to send them the message that they should ban the predators, for the safety of all audiences of all ages. I'm a YouTube viewer, as most of us are. Safety matters. Stand together to tell YouTube: NO ROOM FOR PREDATORS. I'm calling upon YouTube to ban Shane Dawson, James Charles, Colleen Ballinger, Onision, and other proven YT predators, and taking this action and implementing it as an official policy for any and all other channels alleged with evidence hereafter.

This includes:

Publicly and permanently never allowing them to create a new YouTube account ever again, such as through an ip address ban

Archiving their past content to have for sending to law enforcement purposes but not making this archive public

and also most importantly

DELETING EVERY SINGLE CHANNEL OF THESE CREATORS AND DELETING ANY AND ALL SOURCES OF REVENUE FOR THESE CREATORS THAT THEY MAKE OR CAN MAKE ON YOUTUBE.

With Colleen Ballinger, Shane Dawson, James Charles, and Onision still having channels (and podcasts/podcast channels they host on YouTube), making lighthearted "family", "makeup" and "conspiracy theory" videos and podcast episodes (among others), even if they don't have monetization outside of sponsors, minors can still access their content and they can still have power and influence over fans, both under the age of 18 and not, and this is dangerous. This a power that has been clearly demonstrated they should not have. I hope you'll join me. Yes. You. Can. Parasocial grooming is something that is being seriously studied over the past couple of years regarding youtubers like Shane Dawson and James Charles. The red flags for parasocial grooming are things Lily herself has done over the past decade she's been online.

Once again, you believing there is nothing wrong with Lily knowingly being overly sexual when she knows fully well that minors are present and interacting with her is in and of itself grooming. It normalizes sexual interaction between an adult and a minor in any capacity.

I don't know how long you've been in Lily's audience, but we have proven MANY of the accusations against her via chat logs and things she's said on her own Tumblr that she either deleted or buried. She knows we have, and lies to her audience to manipulate the narrative. Because of course someone guilty of making up a story that her sockpuppet raped a high schooler would never admit she did it. Because of course someone guilty of taking advantage of a financially desperate and mentally ill individual to get them to draw beastiality wouldn't admit she did it. youtube commentary community fascinated me bcuz of one person, the scaffolding that supports the builders of the drama dome: keemstar

dude is one of the shittiest people on the planet. genuinely a terrible guy. but he's the best at what he does, which is wringing the exclusive details out of a hot story. you can't watch a video about youtube drama like shane dawson, onision, the dramageddon shit, any of it, without seeing keemstar. regardless of how the video's creator views keemstar.

he simply has the information. he has a reputation for being able to make or break someone's entire career by allowing them to tell their side of the story on his channel, so they go to him to tell it. and he is charismatic and a master manipulator, able to wring a confession and all the details out of any guest. agreeing to an interview with keemstar will be the determining factor of your verdict in the court of public opinion.

everyone knows he sucks shit. but he's the unavoidable lifeblood of the commentary community.

and the weirdest thing is, he's a piece of shit who will ruin lives and manipulate others and gets shit wrong all the time, but his actual views seem to be.... normal?? maybe it's just to have more targets for more drama, but his primary targets are perpetrators of homophobia, transphobia, racism, and most of all pedophilia. he is also usually really quick to spread word as far as possible when he gets things wrong, takes down the misinformation, and somehow usually comes out on top in every situation as the bigger person. or at least the winner.

this dude is like a drama warmonger. he's playing both sides and making bank doing it. he's just the middleman, so all the drama he highlights will always outshine whatever he causes. there's also genuine fans of him, which is really weird....

ANYWAYS the point is that i want an anthropological study on the commentary community of youtube and specifically how keemstar is the necessary evil to keep it all functioning. and the acceptance of this by both creators and viewers. an unspoken agreement that including keemstar's footage is fair game, because it's usually the only source of vital context.

this dude gives off the vibe of someone who could use the pull receipts from an alternate universe where a usually unproblematic creator said slurs, just cuz he wants to spin that story. but he's also been crucial to exposing many creators, especially child predators, often by the accused's own confession on his channel.

we would all probably spit on him if we saw him on the street. i'll never willingly watch his actual channel or give him views. but u know everyone pays attention when the newest scandal comes out, waiting for the essential clips to surface on more reliable and unproblematic channels
