Scooping That Low - Charles Leclerc

Summary: Charles wants y/n to be his girlfriend and he is willing to scoop low to chase off any potential threats to that

"Y/n, isn't it?" Charles asks catching the F1 content creator as she walks through the paddock. Actually there as a guest of F1 itself rather than one of the specific teams.

"Y-Yeah, hi." Y/n smiles not having realised Charles had known her name or even known of her presence.

Little did she know that actually a lot of the drivers have taken note over her presence, but none more than Charles. He spotted her and made a decision within a moment that he'd have to pursue her by any means. Even if that mean scooping to new lows.

"How are you enjoying your time here?" Charles asks making her smile brightly.

"I love it, it's...it's just amazing. The energy, seeing the cars...the teams, getting to stand on the pit wall and watch so close...I thought I was in love with F1 before but now it's as if I didn't even really know the sport."

"That is a very beautiful way of speaking about it." Charles states admittedly shocked at how much she seems to admire the sport. "You should come to the Ferrari garage. I'd love to show you around."

"Oh, I'm going to to have to make a schedule. Lando invited me to the McLaren garage, George and Lewis invited me to the Mercedes one and Daniel and Max invited me to the RB and Red Bull garages. I just need to get my foot in with Zhou, Logan and one of the Haas guys then I'll be everywhere...Lance has already shown me the Aston Martin garage and Pierre managed to sneak me in there without me even realising till I was looking at the car."

"He did?" Charles questions feeling a sudden new dislike of his best friend.

"Yeah, everyone has been so nice."

"That's good." Did he manage to smile when he said that? It feels like he was smiling. "It's important that you enjoy being here."

"I couldn't imagine good reason for someone to not enjoy being here. Especially when Ferrari drivers coming up to me and make conversation. Thank you." Y/n smiles softly while he nods going to speak again but Lando appears with Oscar.

"Y/n...don't waste your time with the yucky red team. We're so much more fun." Lando grins while Oscar nods a little in agreement of it, his hand offered out before she quickly hugs Charles excitedly with another thank you before she takes Lando's hand and allows the McLaren drivers to whisk her away.

Charles can't even stop the annoyed expression on his face. He's going to need a new plan for approaching y/n and it's going to have to involve either scaring the other drivers off, or scaring her away from them.

"Woah, you look mad." Carlos states appearing as well timed as always.

"I am not mad." Charles shrugs while Carlos raises at eyebrow at the sudden aggressiveness of his words.

"You should tell your face that." Pierre states earning a glare that is icier than he's ever seen from his friend making Carlos lean over.

"If I were you, I think I'd walk away till you see the dimples again."

There is some more colourful French words hurled at both Carlos and Pierre who is completely confused about what he has done to upset Charles so much.

Although Charles is marching off to the Ferrari unit, presumably to his drivers room to be away from the two sources of his torment.

"What the fuck did I do?" Pierre questions with a confused laugh.

"I don't know but I think it has something to do with that TikTok girl." Carlos shrugs completely amused by the whole thing.

Y/n yawns as she pulls her jacket tighter around herself, a shiver rippling over her skin making goosebumps rise suddenly.

"Ma belle. You are freezing." Charles states appearing almost out of nowhere, a bright red jacket being placed over her shoulders as she stumbles over a couple steps purely out of shock from his suddenly appearance. "Are you alright?"

"Y-Yeah, I'm really good. Thank you. It's colder than I thought it would be." Y/n mumbles making the man smile lightly at her. "I didn't realise you were at this hotel too. I would've asked for a ride otherwise."

"I will drive you tomorrow morning." Charles declares earning a small smile before he clears his throat. "I was actually hoping we could talk. I just thought it could be important."

"Oh?"

"The other drivers...just be careful. Their intentions are not always quite as innocent as you might think."

Hopefully she won't catch onto the fact that Charles' aren't as innocent or well intentioned as she might think. Although he does think that of the drivers, he should allow himself the best chance of possibly charming her.

"Oh right, did you hear something?" Y/n frowns making Charles tilting his head as if in nervous thought. "Thank you, I know a lot of them are your friends."

"You are too. We are friends." Charles smiles though he's not intending for them to just remain as friends. "Speaking of which, why I have you caught you. Would you like to get something to eat with me?"

"I should definitely eat. I haven't been paying much attention to food really. I think my brain has been so focused on everything new around me, food has been the last thing I've been thinking about." Y/n explains making the man smile lightly at her.

"Then we must get you food. We can get room service. If you have any questions you might want to ask, I think I could try answering them." Charles offers watching her practically glow with a beaming smile.

"Thank you, I have a million and ten questions." Y/n grins looking almost as if she's shivering in excitement.

Charles actually didn't expect y/n to genuinely seem to interrogate him. He also didn't expect for her to accept the offer of just sleeping in his room. Her hotel room is on the other side of the hotel and Charles figured there'd be no harm in him offering for her to just stay there in his room.

"You look...so beautiful in the morning." Charles grins as as she finally peeks her eyes open, something she'd been putting off because she is pretty tired and Charles seemed to make sure she made up for not having really eaten much at all. "If you want to stay here for a bit longer, that's fine."

"No. No. I should really get up." Y/n mumbles shaking her head at him for a moment before she yawns and nuzzles herself down a little. earning a small smile of amusement. "I really need to wake up and just get myself up. Thank you though...I think your bed is more comfortable than mine. Must be a perk of the trade."

"You are always welcome to enjoy my perks again."

Y/n gets visibly flustered at his words before she shifts and smiles still very much nervous.

"Thank you. That's very kind of you." Y/n smiles trying to recollect her confidence that he just smashed with one sentence and a gorgeously dimpled smile that makes her insides feel like they've just combust to melting point. "We should both get moving."

"We should." Charles confirms though he'd happily keep y/n there for the day. But that would definitely not look all that good for him in terms of getting y/n where he wants her.

To Charles' relief, y/n does seem to try and stick closer with him for the rest of the weekend. Thankfully they both seem pretty content with each other's company, in fact they both seem very happy about it.

No one has said anything to y/n or even to Charles, but they've certainly exchanged looks between themselves over the matter.

There's something about y/n and Charles, they seem well paired but equally everyone somewhat wants to know where the sudden change has come from. Why she's suddenly not so interested in accepting invitations that take her away from Charles.

"What is Charles doing with y/n?" Lando asks walking up to Carlos ahead of the race.

"Charles?" Carlos questions acting as if he has no idea. But his expression very much says otherwise. "I think Charles decided he wanted y/n. He's not quite as...much a gentlemanly as he usually is. He must really like her."

"So he's scaring her away from everyone else?"

"Would you rather he decide to make the effort to scare you away from her?" Carlos shrugs earning a hum. "You don't want her as much as he does, obviously. Probably don't try to start a fight for her."

"I won't." Lando sighs then looking over at y/n with a small sigh as she stands with Charles' trainer, the only person who he seems to trust with y/n and that he hasn't scared y/n away from trusting.

Y/n stays stuck with Charles for the rest of the weekend before she looks at him. Her smile and grin and smiles at him growing ever warmer.

But eventually she does talk to the other drivers again.

Initially getting caught by Pierre who seems more determined to speak to her than others but really know. Y/n and Pierre do get along quite well, but his quick efforts to befriend her before Charles did was grounds for Charles to hate Pierre being close to y/n.

"Pierre." Charles greets walking up to his friend and exchanging a hug before he shifts to places his hand on the small of y/n's back. "I hope you're not trying to seduce, y/n."

"No. No. I leave that to you." Pierre smirks flicking his gaze to y/n who definitely is trying to hide herself away. "I do have some places to be. I will leave you with Charles."

"Thank you." Y/n mumbles before she shifts and sighs softly.

Once the Frenchman is gone, y/n turns to Charles and smiles with slightly narrowed eyes before she tilts her head a little while Charles plants his hands on her waist for a moment before sliding them to her back and linking them to pull her closer.

"What?" Charles questions while she looks up at him.

"Just...maybe you're the one I should be wary of." Y/n jokes then almost jumping when she feels him pull her closer and press their bodies together.

"You think?"

"It's a good thing that you've already won me over or I might be more cautious." Y/n shrugs earning a grin from the Ferrari drive.

"Good." I was beginning to lose reasons to scare you away from other drivers in favour of me.

Y/n laughs almost sort of hanging off of Charles before he leans down kissing her and closing the space between them.

"Alright, ma belle. Let's get moving." Charles nods as she looks over his shoulder and while he looks over her head, he spots Lance and Mick seemingly heading their way but a slightly harsh glare successfully scares them off.

He'll have to make continuous efforts to ward off the others but he has full intentions of keeping y/n and so he's very much successful in that.

I was curious how you manage to keep features consistent when you draw them? Do you use models? Is there a model for Crowley? He is very handsome.

I don't use models per se, but I sometimes keep files of photos or art that resembles the subject.

Crowley is based a bit on the French actor Alain Delon who was once considered the handsomest man in the world. He doesn't look exactly like Delon, but that is in my head when I draw him. I recall reading Neil and Mr. Pratchett once considered Peter Sellers for Crowley.

There is no reference for Aziraphale because he is entirely in my head and I can't really find anyone who looks exactly the way he does. I recall reading that Neil and Mr. Pratchett thought of Brian Dennehy at one point, but my head canon Aziraphale won. I think a Brian Dennehy Aziraphale would have been amazing, though. Anyway, he is actually kind of hard for me to draw because his facial structure is a bit outside my usual style. His face is a bit long and his eyes closer together than I normally do, and if I'm not careful, he slips away. He appears younger and more classically handsome as an angel than he does in his corporeal form, but I think he's quite fetching as a bookseller.

Michael Sheen is so perfect in this role it is really hard not to leak bits of his performance into the graphic novel edition, but I have to resist the impulse. I am not allowed to use any of the show actors as models.

I adore Michael Sheen. Who doesn't?

Adam is also a head canon character. He is a perfect young Greek God, so that's kind of drawing on a day with a Y in it for me.

The inspiration for Newt I'm keeping a secret. I submitted a number of sketches for Newt. The show Newt dug in deep and I had a hard time shaking him off.

The Them are based on kids I knew. They're in my head, I don't need any photos. They don't really look like the kinds in the show. The book version of Pepper, for example, is a freckled red-head.

Anathema is an amalgam of features that don't come from one person, which I think fits the description of the character. She's also unusual for me to draw but she's easier to draw than Aziraphale. I nail her every time.

Hastur is a caricature of the stereotypical English upper class you'd see in broadsheets 200 years ago. I have a file of pictures of Anthony Ashley-Cooper, 7th Earl of Shaftesbury for Hastur. I considered making Hastur more handsome in a Duke of Hell sort of way, but I think Hastur likes to be scary. I keep thinking of Peter O'Toole when I draw Hastur, too.

I feel kind of bad basing Hastur on Lord Ashley because he was a wonderful person and I'm sure he didn't go to Hell.

Ligur is a broad caricature of Danny Devito. I obviously can't use a DeVito portrait. That would be wrong. But I can tweak from there and come up with a general idea of the face I want to use.

Beelzebub and Metatron are head canon, and don't look a thing like they do in the show. I postulate some demons prefer to look like their angelic selves, and at other times prefer to be fearsome. Crowley can look fearsome when he wants, for example. In the book, Beelzebub appears as a young man in red flames.

Shadwell was drawn from reference at the direct suggestion of Neil.

Madame Tracy is based on a certain person, but no one you would have heard of. The original source might not be flattered, but I love Madam Tracy. She's really easy to draw because she's a bit over the top. I'm sketching around her scenes right now because I don't have final approval on some things yet. So she might need some changes later.

War is head canon, very easy to draw. She's a knockout. No reference required.

Famine looks a lot like Famine in the show, actually, but that's what Famine always looked like, pretty much. Except he has the grey eyes he has in the book.

Pollution is initially described as being a forgettable white guy, but later described as looking like a romantic poet, which strikes me as being memorable. Because he's only on one page in his forgettable white guy phase, I chose not to make major changes in his appearance between those panels and later when he appears as his true self, because that's a bit more confusing than it needs to be in the graphic novel edition. He's rather glamorous as the essence of Pollution, though. No reference needed.

Dog is a dog.

While I do give every detail a lot of thought, I am sure other people have other opinions. I understand that, and hope you enjoy what I do anyway.

Rosaura Revueltas (Salt of the Earth)—She was a Mexican actress who is best known for starring in salt of the earth, an amazing pro-labor movie made by blacklisted filmmakers. She also starred in the Mexican remake of madchen in uniform, one of the first representations of lesbian romance onscreen. She was really dedicated to making progressive films and was also such an incredible actress and artist I truly believe more people should know about her and her work.

Romy Schneider (Mädchen in Uniform, la piscine, 10:30pm Summer)— Such a beautiful woman and she has the full range: she can be anything from cute to seductive to tough - and all the time she's elegant. Also you just gotta love how she left Germany and her fame there behind to start all over in France, wanting to break free from always being typecast as the cute (royal) girl. She put an extreme amount of energy into learning French perfectly in just a few weeks so she could prove herself by starring in a theatre play by Luchino Visconti (who put enormous pressure on her). Anyway, everything went well and she could continue her career in French cinema with more complex and challenging roles.

She only had a brief stunt in Hollywood but starred in many French movies plus of course the role I know her best for, Empress Elisabeth of Austria in the movies Sissi. Warner Bros. planned to do a movie about her, which was sadly cancelled but there is also a musical about her life, because she is just that great. (According to Wikipedia she told the author of her biography that she was what we would call bisexual these days, but because the source is french I can't confirm it)

I made some funny comics a little while ago about the potential effects of Fukuzawa's ability on Chuuya's, and how it perhaps could make it revert to a pre-Arahabaki state.

I realized later that some of you lack the context for where that came from, and that I might be creating confusion, so this is a (hopefully) comprehensive walkthrough of things we learned in Storm Bringer that lead to this conclusion.

tldr; The lab created "Arahabaki" by manipulating an ability into a destructive force. That ability existed before the lab, and the nature of that ability is heavily implied to be the power to enhance other abilities through touch.

Explanation and sources below (so you can judge yourself) ⬇

- spoiler warning for Storm Bringer, hopefully written in a way that you'd understand even if you haven't read it yet -

In Storm Bringer, Chuuya meets the scientist that was responsible for Project Arahabaki, Professor N.

Project Arahabaki, N explains, was the Japanese government's secret project to create an ability singularity they could have control over and freely use as a weapon.

What are singularities? Singularities are what happens when abilities clash in specific ways and create a new, unforeseen reaction. The easiest way to create a singularity is to pit two contradictory abilities against each other to create a paradox; examples included the ability to always deceive and the ability to always perceive the truth, and to have two ability users who can see into the future (*coughs* Oda and Gide) try to one-up each other. The result is usually much more powerful than the original abilities on their own.

Some singularities are said to have been explained as god-like interventions, because of their often destructive nature. This is what inspired the name "Arahabaki", after the mythical being (here's a post of the subject and I'll it link at the end too) These events are described as very rare.

Like mentioned in that passage, there is another way to create a singularity: to have a single ability user use their ability in a way that contradicts itself. This is what the lab was trying to do.

For that explanation, Professor N gives an example. He first shows a video of a child, whose face is hidden from the camera, holding a coin (described as having a certain melancoly to it), with a moon and a fox engraved on it. The video is from one of the lab's tests. The child is made to recite some activation lines, which are directly taken from one of Nakahara Chuuya's poems, Upon the Tainted Sorrow (which does mentions a fox, as a fun fact).

The coin then starts glowing, the glow turns into a black mass, and from there the experimentation goes bad: the coin starts attracting things and absorbing them, the space gets distorted, the child's vitals flatline, panic spreads and someone calls for an emergency stop, we hear a scream. The video ends.

N explains that the child in the video had the ability to enhance the ability of others. That child then used that ability on themselves, effectively enhancing the enhancement which enhanced the enhancing, in an infinite loop. That loop created a lot of energy; the surplus of energy was so intense its mass deformed space (physics!) and it created a black hole.

Here's where it gets tricky: N claims that child died during that accident, that the child was absorbed by the black hole created by their ability. We never actually learn their identity.

But N is a lying liar who lies; he said about one and a half truths the entire book. The only reason he was telling them any of this was that he thought he'd get rid of all of them within the next few minutes. His objective was always to regain control over Chuuya, his pet project.

Plus, during the epilogue, we learn that Chuuya was assumed to have died during the war. That's what his parents think. That's what is officially recorded.

Furthermore.

Project Arahabaki was based off French research papers; someone else had done this kind of experimentation before, and their result was Verlaine.

Verlaine's gravity-manipulation is a singularity. Better yet: Verlaine also has a Corruption state, named Brutalization. Their abilities are the same, because the lab copied the techniques that were used to create Verlaine when they worked on Chuuya.

Here's a passage of Dazai nullifying Corruption, at the very end of SB:

"The self-contradicting skill, which was supporting the energy of a singularity". This passage confirms that the source of Chuuya's ability is, in fact, like the child's and Verlaine's, if any doubts remained. "[...] weakening the singularity's output. It wasn't long before it returned to its normal state, and the Gate closed." The Gate refers to releasing Arahabaki, it's basically a limiter, just like the passage above when talking about Brutalization. When Dazai nullifies Corruption, he gives that limiter the opportunity to come back and seal Chuuya's power away again, but does not stop the singularity, only allows it to go back to its stable state.

From all that, we can say that Chuuya's ability wasn't always gravity manipulation, but that it was another, unconfirmed ability that was exploited in such a way that it became a permanent, stable singularity that allowed him to have control over gravity.

Bullet point recap:

Chuuya's gravity manipulation comes from a singularity, like Verlaine, like that child;

You need a self-referencing/self-contradicting ability to create that singularity;

Such an event is rare;

There is a substantial amount of time spent describing a "random" child that was experimented on during the war;

That child created a black hole through their singularity;

That singularity was activated using a passage from Nakahara Chuuya's poems, while holding a coin that references it;

That child supposedly died;

Chuuya's parents think he died during the war;

N is a pathological liar with an agenda.

So no, there is no "confirmation" that Chuuya's ability was ability enhancement before the lab took him. But an author writes a story with an intent, so I am asking what Asagiri's intent was when writing all this, and if perhaps we weren't indirectly given the answer already.

It occurs to me that Jane Austen as a brandy smuggler who knew Crowley & Aziraphale sometime circa 1810 means that she was smuggling *French* brandy-- so, cognac-- into England during The Napoleonic Wars and Aziraphale drinks brandy. He had a (more modern) bottle of Courvoisier open while he was calling Crowley in Good Omens: Lockdown. This is also prior to Jane becoming a famous author so she really was just Aziraphale's source for French liquor during the war, wasn't she? lol Good Omens coding everything French as romantic in Crowley & Aziraphale's secret romance and the future most famous romance writer to ever live--Jane Fucking Austen-- is how Crowley and Aziraphale were sneaking some cognac to have with their cognac while England was at war with France in 1810-1812. I love this show so very much.

As Tolkien often observed; “names often generate a story” and always nearly contributed or suggested something of the nature or personality of the character, thing or place that has been named. Yet the most intriguing name he has created in my opinion, is the main protagonist of “The Hobbit” Bilbo Baggins who is the hero of the classic tale, and despite being seen as such, his name holds interesting and contradicting connotations. For Baggins suggests harmless, humble and well- contented characters (though with criminal undertones!) Yet the name Bilbo suggests an individual who is sharp, intelligent and even dangerous….

The family name of Bilbo is “Baggins” which derives from a double source-the English Somerset surname Bagg, which means “moneybag” or “wealthy.” The term “Baggins" itself means “afternoon tea or snack between meals” and at first is appropriate in describing our well off hobbit. Initially he is presented as a mildly comic, home-loving, upper middle class “gentle hobbit” who seems harmless and composed enough, if given to some annoyance. He is mostly concerned with his mothers dishes, doilies, domestic comforts and food. However, once recruited by Thorin and his Company, we see the respectable gentle hobbit reveal his true colours- he is an excellent and highly skilled burglar.

Tolkien has maintained that his tales are often inspired by names and words from the real world, and indeed, in the jargon of the nineteenth-and early twentieth century criminal underworld there were a cluster of names around the term “bag” and forms of theft. “To bag” means to capture, to acquire, or to steal. “A baggage man” is an outlaw who carries off the loot and a “bagman” is the man who collects and distributes gold on the behalf of others by dishonest means or purposes.

His surname not only characterises himself, but also plots out the narrative for the story. For in the hobbit we discover Baggins is hired by Dwarves to bag the Arkenstone. He then becomes the baggage man who carries off the loot. When he realises Thorin has fallen under the gold sickness, he becomes the bagman and is dishonest to the newly crowned king, distributing the Arkenstone to Thrandruil and Bard. After the Battle Of The Five Armies he hands out the treasure to those who are rightfully in need of it, and thus ends him being the bagman.

Another aspect of Bilbo Baggins character can be revealed by the analysis of his first name. The word “Bilbo” entered the English language in the late sixteenth century as a name for a short and deadly piercing sword of the kind once made in the Spanish port city of Bilbao where the name derives from. This is an excellent description of Bilbo's elvish sword (often called a letter opener) named “Sting.” Found in the troll hoard, Bilbo's “bilbo” can pierce through any animal hide that would break any other sword. In The Hobbit however, it is the hero's sharp wit rather than his sword that gives Bilbo his sharpness. Bilbo's well-honed wits allow him to survive the journey and to trick monsters, a dragon and to get himself out of bad situations.

When we put these two names together as Bilbo Baggins, we fully understand the two aspects of his character, showing someone who is dangerously witty, but ultimately good and humble to a fault. If we want to dig deeper into how these names also affected the events of the Lord Of The Rings, one has to look no further than Frodo Baggins.

Along with the Baggins family name, further “baggage” is passed on to Bilbo's nephew and heir, Frodo Baggins who in the context of the one ring is a link to another underworld occupation; the bagger or the bag thief. This bagger or bag thief has nothing to do with baggage, but is derived from the French word bauge, meaning “ring.” A bagger then, is a thief who specialises in stealing rings by seizing a victim's hand and stripping off its rings. It had common usage in Britain's criminal underworld between 1890 to 1940. The Baggins name holds the idea and plot for both The Hobbit and Lord Of The Rings. For Bilbo's skill as a burglar, one might say that in the perspective of outsiders, the Baggins baggers of Bag End, Bilbo and Frodo, are naturally born ring thieves.

Hope Morphin Q&A

About a few months ago, I got a message from a surprising source: @hmrphin/Hope Morphin.

In case you don't know, Hope Morphin is a model and makeup artist who the character of Marc was based on. I also made a post about how their friendship with Astruc had ended thanks to the Rising Sun Flag controversy, which they had actually read one day. We talked a little, and they told me to message them on their Instagram to confirm that this is the real Hope.

They said they'd be down to answer some questions, I came up with a few, and I got their permission to post this on my account. So, without further ado, as Sid the Science Kid once said, let's go get some answers.

Question: When did you and Thomas first get to know each other, and how?

Answer: It was years ago, when the series premiered on TFOU. There were a lot of people complaining on twitter that the characters of the show were in 3D instead of in 2D, and I answered one of Thomas' tweets saying that characters' butts looked better in 3D rather than in 2D (yeah, I had a terrible sense of humor back then, glad I don't do that anymore) and he answered "yeah we could say that lol". Then, it became a running gag between us on the web, and we met for the first time at a french convention called Japan Tours, the 2015 one. So yeah, I think it was when I was... 20/21 years old, something like that.

Question: It's okay. We've all been cringe at some point in their lives. Did you two meet up again after the convention?

Answer: Yup. In fact, after the convention, he sent me a friend request on Facebook. Then, we chatted for a bit and he asked me if I wanted to be a model for him, and I met him for the second time during that model session.

Question: How did Thomas approach you about creating a character in his show based on you?

Answer: So, it was after I modeled for him. It happened after S1 has ended, so when we were chatting, he asked me which one was my favorite character. I answered Nathaniel, because at this time I felt quite close to this one (we love the angsty artist boy lmao). He told me that he didn't understand people liking Nath because he found it was a very empty character aha, but then he told me that they were searching for inspiration to create a boyfriend for him. He told me he wanted the persons to be happy that he got a boyfriend and that they would “stop bothering him with Nathaniel”, and as he wanted to take inspiration on someone looking androgynous he thought I was a good inspiration, so I accepted.

Question: Interesting story. Didn't know Nathaniel was so popular before Season 2. Did you have any input in the creation of Marc in terms of stuff like his design or personality?

Answer: Yeah he rather was, I remember a lot of people wanted to see more of him ehe. Not at all, I even though that he was joking on the moment, then one day he sent me Marc's characters sheet. I had the same haircut back in the day. Also, I was always wearing armor rings and I was wearing those kind of rings when I had this conversation with him, and he told me that Marc was going to have one of those as his miraculous. I was also still writing a lot back in the days, so I guess he still did took some stuff there and there in my personality to create him.

Question: You mean this design?

Answer: Yup! I was wearing only black sooo yeah the red and rainbow wasn't in my wardrobe aha.

Question: Okay, sorry. Next question: What are your thoughts on Marc as a character? What do you think of his relationship with Nathaniel and his respective villain and hero forms, Reverser and Rooster Bold?

Answer: To be honest, when he first appeared, I really liked him. I thought he had a lot of potential as a character, his villain form was really cool and I really liked the ideas behind him, and I liked the relationship that he got with Nathaniel, from enemies to associates ehe. But after that... meh. There wasn't nothing much on the LGBT+ relationship with Nathaniel (we had to wait until the end of season 5 to see them hold hands... wow), and I didn't really find myself anymore in his character. I liked the design of his hero form and I liked the concept of his power, but like the other heroes that appeared during this episode, we didn't see Rooster Bold that much and I think that doesn't really make him feel appealing. I have the feeling that Marc and many other side characters could be way more develop in very cool subthemes but this is never really done in the series. Instead, now, they are just the characters getting out a whiteboard and giving terrible ideas to Marinette for her to date Adrien =="

Question: Just for fun, do you have any personal headcanons for Marc?

Answer: Well of course ehe, I have ton of those :D

Mmmh... For example, I think he is a dog person, that he's also fond of fashion such as Marinette but that he just don't have the patience to learn how to draw and how to design clothes... Also have the headcanon that him and Nath often meet at one of their places to do some little workshops together to work on their series and on tons of other projects :D

Got also tons of headcanon for future!Marc, such as him being a model for lgbt+ brands and Nath designing his clothes, I would love to see this shy patootie being at the front of the spotlight ehe, full of confidence and all :D There's tons of ideas to have with this character, I remember when I saw lots of artists drawing him with alternate clothes back in the day, such as shishitsunari or hazy (will try to find them back but it's been a while lol). I wish those clothing styles would be canon, with Marc rocking those kind of genderless clothes.

Question: This one's a little tough, so if you don't want to answer, that's perfectly fine. What exactly went down before Thomas blocked you? Did you have any conversation online or in real life regarding the use of the Rising Sun Flag in "Ephemeral", or did Thomas just block you with no warning?

Answer: Honestly ? Blocked me without any warning. We were talking less and less, and, since I have affective dependancy, I had the feeling that I said / done something wrong. He was often answering only when I was defending him on social medias during these times. But we didn't have any harsh conversation from what I recall. So, I did the tweet about ephemeral, pointing out the use of the rising sun flag, and, well, maybe he had a plugin on twitter that blocked everyone using the term "flag", and maybe it blocked me automatically. The thing is : he has my number, he has my address (well, my old address now, lol). He had many ways to tell me this was a misunderstanding and that he didn't want to block me. He didn't call me, didn't send me any text after that to talk about it, so he clearly didn't want to make anything to sort out the problem. To this day, he still hasn't send me any message to talk about it. He commented on some of my facebook posts I did last year (I posted some makeups I did for my school) just saying it was cool, so... Yeah, not the type of friend I want to keep. I still have him as a friend on FB if I ever get the guts to try to send him a message to tell him everything that was wrong towards me and towards other people, but I clearly have other things to deal with lately.

Question: So he blocked you and didn't say anything else?

Answer: Yup, exactly, blocked me and didn't say anything else :/ After years of supporting him lmao.

Question: I'm really sorry to hear that. And you still haven't heard from him after all this time?

Answer: Well, apart from some comments he made on my facebook posts (I posted my makeup from my makeup school and he commented "very nice!") nothing at all. But honestly I'm not too bothered by that. I heard new stuff that he did prior and I really don't think it's a good idea that I interact with him again. I keep him in my facebook friends because maybe one day I'll send him a message to try to confront him, telling him that he had a very terrible behavior towards me and other people... But not today, I have other stuff to deal with.

Question: Despite everything that's happened between you and Thomas, do you still keep up with Miraculous Ladybug? If so, what do you think of it?

Answer:

Well, I've kept up with it because I still have lots of friends who are watching it (for example Octolady, Kogenta and Candy...), and they help me keep a little hype.

So I watched the episodes... There are some stuff that I like. There's good LGBT+ representation, and I like seeing an international known cartoon doing that (especially a french one since we have lots of far-right rising lately).

But honestly, I don't have the same hype as before. At the beginning, I was hyped because S1 looked awesome and had lots of cool fights, lots of wholesome characters and all, but the animation problems and differences are really making me bothered. Also, I have the feeling there's a lot of characters who could be more elaborated and who aren't, and... That's kinda sad, because there's a lot of topics that could be explored thanks to them and not just brushed off in one episode.

Plus, to be honest, I didn't really like the ending of S5. And I don't like the idea of it going on for seasons and seasons and seasons, milked until there's nothing more for it. The fewer the better in my mind...

I also seen the movie and didn't really liked it. Too much fanservice and didn't really made sense. The animation was nice, though.

Honestly, I love the writing team, they are wholesome people and they are doing their best for this show, but people like Thomas and Zag are the kind of people I don't want to support anymore. So yeah... To sum it up : still watching it from afar to see if nice stuff is happening, been pleased with some little stuff, displeased with a lot more, but I don't think I'll keep watching it both because I'm not that hyped up anymore and because I don't want to support anymore these 2 people. I supported Thomas too much before, was too attached to him and was a terrible person towards fans who didn't deserved it because I was too blind, so yeah, won't happen anymore.

Still, I'm glad there's still some people who are fans of Marc and who felt helped thanks to this character. I really hope he will have a better representation in the future (clear relationship with Nath, maybe even some trans / non-binary representation ?) in order to inspire young people.

heya! I'm wondering, from where do you reference clothing for your art pieces? (Specifically for Inver!) I enjoy the outfits you draw your characters in

hii so for the fancier victorian-era outfits i used a whole bunch of sources but among them the metropolitan museum costume collection, this is a great online gallery of historical costume that you can search by era. you can also find illustrated fashion plates from the era to get a sense of how people styled the outfits, facial hair, accessories etc. here's one for hats i used. i also followed the twitter account WikiVictorian which.. due to new twitter policies you can't view accounts while not logged in, but it looks like they have a pinterest and also instagram?? anyway great resource, posted a lot of dresses, furniture, and historical recipes with sources & context.

but those dresses and stuff are for the upper classes. For ordinary people i just googled what I knew every old lady wears: shawls

this is a galway shawl which is like. THE thing every single person wore back in the day and if you check out the wiki page it's a great reference for what patterns & dyes would have been used. from there you can find historical photos. i love photos like this which show a whole scene in context with people from multiple generations hanging out (yooo check out the Sparch in the background!!). now I know this isn't 1860s stuff, but the fact is that fashion doesn't move so fast for people like Clarion who live on a farm and have to make their simple clothing items last for a lifetime or more.

for the military outfits I mainly just googled 'military outfit 1860s' and iterated (groundbreaking). for things to be accurate i tried to pick reference illustrations drawn during the era.

i figure you might mean specifically the ancient Inver stuff so for them I used a lot of old illustrations and stuff from art history class in school. this era is more in the region of the 1500s. here is a kind of kitchy site which nonetheless has real-life examples of some of the clothing i drew. this painting is in my list of references (sorry for the stock image link but it's one of the nicest online reproductions of it) and you can see the guys on the right wearing the same léine that i've drawn Finbarr in. once you know the time period & what the various outfit components are called you can search them more easily. now the headdress i've drawn Finbarr wearing (Olivier wears it as well!) is in fact a real thing, it's the Petrie crown broken in half.

the crown is not of the same era as the other outfits because i'm not so interested in historical accuracy as much for these guys (booo).

for Olivier I searched for old French armour from the same historic era as Finbarr, I know less about the history of Brittany so kind of just copied what I saw with some small alterations (because he wears werewolf armour, which is not a thing irl).

#setting: inver #i know there's a website for renting costumes that goes around every so often on tumblr but i find them really lacking in menswear usually

y/n breathed in deeply, her hand gripping her racket tightly as she watched Caroline Garcia move slightly, one more point. One more point was all that was needed to end this three and a half hour match.

y/n hadn't been playing to her full ability her mind still slightly on her recently healed Achilles. It had been spotted by the commentators, and when she inevitably re-watched her matched later, she would cringe at their pity of her recent injury.

She had never watched the video of her going down, she couldn't. At the peak of her career, 2020 Tokyo, one last hurdle for her Gold medal.

She'd won Wimbledon this year, she'd conquered the singles and doubles in the US and French opens and she and Andy had finally taken the doubles in Australia.

Then it happened, she stretched and she could feel the snap of her Achilles tendon, her body crashing to the floor as the crowd all shouted in fear.

The cry of pain she let out, caused her best friend Alex to jump from the crowd, still in her GB uniform from playing and bounce onto court, ignoring the shouts of the guards.

Belinda Bencic was with her too, having rushed to her competitor the second she went down, y/n's body shaking with pain-filled sobs as the medics tried to decipher the source of her pain, finally realising she was holding her ankle.

It took two months for her operation, the rupture being so bad, yet the back up in the hospitals caused a wait time.

It took another twelve months for her body to heal, and then another six to get her fitness back up, at every stretch, ever jump, y/n expected to feel it again, the pain, the snap.

But it never came, and now here she was, one final serve and she would be through, back to the final of the US Open like she deserved to be, needed to be.

y/n breathed in, looking left slightly, her eyes meeting the kind ones of Deyna Castellanos, Alex's teammate and friend, and she smiled, before throwing the ball in the air and bringing her racket down harshly.

"Ace."

She heard the call before she acknowledged it's meaning, standing their confused as to why Caroline wasn't moving, then the woman who she had battled many times now grinned.

She leapt over the net and wrapped the still paused girl in a tight hug, the crowd bursting into cheers and applause.

"Oh my god!" y/n let out, finally realising what the call meant, and Caroline laughed again as she clung to her.

"You deserve this, petit combattant. You deserve this." Caroline promised as they pulled away.

y/n let out a tearful thank you as Caroline walked toward her coach, the man hugging her in sympathy, y/n turned to Alex and the crowd which were screaming for her.

She let out a cry of joy, tears slipping down her red cheeks as she fell to her knees in relief, the photo becoming one that would be used for weeks to come, showing the joy and love of tennis.

A body collided with hers, long nails scratching at her shoulders as Alex pulled her best friend tighter.

"Ace!" Alex grinned into her.

"Ace indeed!" y/n laughed as she stood up, keeping a tight grip on the closest woman in her life. The press loving the inter-sport friendship began snapping pictures, as y/n's coach Mark wrapped an arm around both of them and guided them inside.

"y/n!" A voice called and soon enough a familiar strawberry blonde was wrapped around her, the player laughing as she hugged Keira back.

Keira, Lucy, Georgia and y/n had bonded best of the group Alex had introduced her to, and even though y/n was aware of Keira's impending move, it didn't dampen their close friendship.

Georgia was unable to join today, but the brunette had promised her friend she would be there for the final, stating she had no doubt she would make it.

"I'm so proud." Keira murmured into her friend's shoulder. y/n smiled as they pulled away, pressing a kiss to the hair of Keira's head.

"Thanks Kei." y/n smiled, Lucy moving over to hug the girl, the two having become like sisters very quickly.

"Well done, kiddo." Lucy hummed, a tight hug reassuring y/n that this was real, she really had done it.

"Thanks Luce." y/n chimed as they pulled away, Lauren and Chloe wrapping her in a double hug quickly. Alex was grinning madly as she pulled y/n over to the newcomer by her hand.

"This y/n/n, is Deyna, she's the only one you haven't met yet." Alex explains. "She's a big fan, ain't ya lovie?" Alex then asks Deyna whose cheeks flush.

"Alex." The girl whined, a thick Venezuelan accent ingrained in her voice which nearly made y/n's knees weak.

She turned to y/n, a small smile on her face as she tried to remain calm at the girl in front of her. y/n suddenly felt self conscious of her looks.

Her hair greasy with sweat, face sticky with it too, her eyes were probably slightly red from the tears and she had some many fly-aways she could guess she looked like a manic scientist.

"Hola un placer conocerte, eres una delantera, ¿sí?" y/n asks softly.

hello, lovely to meet you, you're a striker, yes?

"¿tú hablas español?" Deyna asks, eyebrows furrowed.

Sí, pero sé que la versión venezolana también tiene un ligero dialecto, así que disculpas si todo esto es muy básico." y/n smiles.

yes, but I know the Venzuelan version has a slight dialect too it, so apologies if this is all very basic.

"No no eres fantástica!" Deyna exclaimed happily.

No, no, you are fantastic!

y/n smiled, her cheeks heating as Chloe gawked at her friend, confused that she didn't know the girl could speak Spanish.

"You speak Spanish?" Chloe asks confused.

"Chloe, I learnt to play tennis in Spain?" y/n questioned back confused.

"Yeah, but I just assumed they all spoke English." The blonde shrugged.

"Maybe that's why you didn't react when they called Ace, too used to it being in Spanish." Lucy teased and y/n laughs mockingly before shoving her.

This action causes the two to begin to fight playfully, acting like siblings as the rest just huff and roll their eyes, used to the twos childish ways.

"Alright, alright stop!" Keira chides, her voice stern as the two part and sheepishly look down.

"Sorry Keira." y/n chuckles as footsteps move to them.

"Well, well, well." A voice says and y/n turns and grins at the player.

"Andy!" She squeaks, running at the man she saw as a father, he'd done more for her than either of her parents had anyway.

"Told ya you would be fine." The man chuckles as he hugs the girl tightly. "21 and the best in the world." He adds kindly and y/n smiles as the pull away.

"Think that's cause I have a pretty awesome mentor." She denies and Andy chuckles, kissing her head before letting her continue with her friends.

"So, tomorrow?" Alex asks and y/n lets out a small breath.

"Tomorrow, one day to show them all I'm back." She nods. The girls all nods supportively as they begin their walk back toward the recording room, where y/n would have to sit through some classic interviews.

"Un día." Deyna hums.

"Un día para demostrarte que has vuelto. Ellos ya saben que lo eres." Deyna tells her.

one day to show yourself that you're back. They already know you are.

y/n smiles softly at Deyna's words, realising that maybe she was right and she nudges her shoulder slightly in thanks.

"Ya estoy de vuelta." y/n nods. "Ya estoy de vuelta." She repeats stronger.

I'm back.

Deyna nods, believing her as Alex looks back, smiling sneakily at the pair she had hoped would get along well, Lucy sees her look and rolls her eyes, but as she hears y/n laugh at something Deyna had said she shares a knowing look with Keira.

This was the longest match of her life. Even during her Wimbledon win, y/n had never been on the court for over four hours, and now they were running over their fifth, nearly at their sixth.

Iga Świątek was younger, fitter, and was not recovering from an injury. She was clever, a fantastic player, but she was not the world number 1.

Neither was y/n, in fact, she had dropped. She was slower, older that Iga, and recovering still, even now, her mentality taking a bigger hit than her ankle.

But today, she needed this win, she had to have it. Iga was younger, fitter, but she wasn't one point from victory. y/n was.

Her chest moved slowly as y/n inhaled deeply, her head tilting up slightly as the crowd waited, holding their breath. y/n's eyes met the soft ones of Deyna once more and a small smile was sent at her.

That soft smile at the lips of the Venezuelan sent small waves of belief down y/n, and she threw the ball in the air. She brought her racket down, watching as the ball flew.

"Ace!"

y/n's hands flew to her head, she heard it this time, she recognised it this time and she sunk to her knees in tears as Iga sunk to her own in sadness.

y/n took a moment, breathing in as the crowd erupted in cheers, she had done something almost impossible. She had beaten an injury everyone thought would be the end of her.

Rising to her feet, y/n moved over to Iga, helping her to her feet as she cupped her face.

"Jesteś tak młoda. Tak utalentowany. Nie pozwól, żeby to miało na ciebie wpływ." y/n spoke softly.

You are so young. So talented. Don't let this affect you.

Iga seemed shocked that the English player spoke Polish, but she smiled thankfully as she wiped her eyes, and hugged the woman in thanks.

"dziękuję, mistrzu." Iga said kindly.

"I'm very glad you made that bet with Alex." Deyna hums as she pulls y/n into her chest, switching her to face forward so the tennis player's back was against Deyna's chest.

The football player sunk further into the trunk of the tree she was resting on as y/n's head fell back against her shoulder, enjoying the feeling of Deyna's arms around her.

"Same." y/n laughed, the bet being made on the day of the final in her head.

"you win a set by an ace today, tonight you kiss Deyna." Alex offered her hand outstretched.

"Alex I met her yesterday?" y/n answered confused.

"And? She's been your crush for years, and you're hers!" Alex fights back, a smirk on her face.

"Ace?" y/n asks, as her hand comes up to shake her best friend's.

"Ace." Alex confirms and the two shake hands.

"Yeah, I'm really glad I made that bet." y/n repeats and Deyna laughs as she cranes her head down, her lips pressing into y/n's.
