Ecological glamour. STELLA McCARTNEY. Ready To Wear. Spring 2023
The Paris show of the Stella McCartney collection for Spring 2023 took place in front of the Pompidou Center and it was like her kind of debut - the first show in the open air. The collection itself is - as the designer claims - the most sustainable proposition she has managed to make to her clients. According to the branch press, it was a great combination of fashion and the idea of sustainable development and at the same time - which is the norm for McCartney - an artistic presentation - this time of the work of Yoshitomo Nara, the legendary Japanese graphic artist, sculptor and author of children's literature.
Reviewers note Stella McCartney's bold references to her erstwhile vision of Chloé for 2000 - incl. combinations of metal chains as tops and men's double-breasted oversized blazers or similar chains adorning white T-shirts.
Fishnet stockings and high heels gave the figures a sensual note, and the story was told by Nara girls with wide eyes on ivory dresses with angular, asymmetrical hems and the artist's activist slogans "Change history" on deconstructed knitted sweaters.
The colors were subtly subdued, and the metallic details added three-dimensional to the palette. Sorbet yellows, lime greens and dusty roses attracted attention.

The evening set brought more dramatic cuts and bolder cutouts. Bella Hadid walked down the runway in a one-piece styling adorned with lead-free crystals, and Gigi Hadid in an elegant black evening suit with a cropped jacket, loose pants with chains simulating a belt.
Regenerated nylon, organic denim and vegan leather alternatives are some of the materials used by Stella McCartney. About 87% of the collection is created using only the so-called responsible materials, for example the t-shirt - made of bio-diverse cotton.
The collection is completed with accessories, including the S-Wave shoulder bag, made from an alternative to grape-based leather, and the Frayme Mylo bag made of mycelium-based material.
