Another library day! I got a decent amount done - and then considered doing absolutely nothing at all in the afternoon. The library had some of its rare books and manuscripts on display, which was very fun to go see.

So, the job I got an offer for got me wondering, how long ago did I apply to that job?

June, y'all.

Frickin' June.

I take this as a double sided coin of "Don't lose hope on jobs you applied for!" and/or "If I was in a worse situation I could be homeless by now."

I am super grateful and overjoyed for this opportunity. But also the job-hunting-hiring system in the U.S. is absolutely in shambles. So just remember, if you are here, reading, near graduation and job seeking, it's not you. You're doing what you can. The system sucks and literally is worse than it was 10 years ago. But also your chance will come eventually? If I finally got the job highschool-me wanted, and my life's taken every bad turn you can imagine, you most likely will be fine, too. We'll be fine. We're gonna be fine.

not a tips but I just want to share haha ... so here are some of my notes from Anatomy and Physiology class ...

In reality during lecture this is how I take notes , and I  believe that you’re the only one who can understand your own notes completely ~ well I know not everyone is like that , but I know we have our own styles ...

Based on Edgar Dale Cone of Learning , we tend to remember ...

10 % of what we Read  

20% of what we hear

30 % of what we see

50% of what we  hear and see

70 % of what we write and say

90% of what we do

well at times I tend to recite my notes and there is a lot of information I retain

9.29.2023 | Cluny museum + medieval garden

It's been a busy week, but so far my first fairly 'normal' one of my time abroad. I went to two libraries to look at some primary sources - with varying degrees of success, of course. Despite any challenges there, it was really great to see some of the prints my first dissertation chapter is on. Today I went to the Cluny museum to see their new exhibit - I've been having lunch in their medieval garden almost all week, so it was time to actually get in there.

Date I applied, soft rejection received today. Imagine if this was my last hope for a job. I'd be committed by this point.

It's not you, the system is absolutely wrecked. Keep applying. Keep pushing.

*Keeping posting job application fails in the community from my journey to remind everyone of the other side of academia. It's not always instant success stories. Not everyone lands their dream job while still in school. Sometimes it is a slog through trial and lows. This isn't to scare you. It's to remind y'all it's not on you if it feels like everyone around you is knocking it out of the park and leaving you behind. I got my dream job after 10 years of weird ass side quests. It can happen. Just maybe not instantly.

I don’t myself let fall easily, but he brings me tea to bed. And he makes me laugh, a genuine, I-can’t-stop-please-you-stop kind of joy. And he tells me it’s okay to cry and no one ever told me that before. But I don’t think love is falling, I don’t think it’s as passive as it may sound. It’s a jump, jump to the other riverbank, a leap of faith. Trusting yourself - that this, that this what you are doing - is the right thing; and giving the other person permission and the power to put a knife through your ribcage and twist it until you don’t know yourself. Love is a choice. It is him kissing me even though I woke up with a stuffed nose. He puts the comforter over my shoulder and reaches for my hand mindlessly when we are watching a series he already watched ten years ago. He twists it and tugs at my fingers, and it’s like a secret language, a conversation no one else can hear.

How I study...

This is not a studyblr that it used to be but I still want to share the changes how I study before and now (I just graduated and I am now studying for board exam ~ )

Before...

I tend to stay up till morning , trying to stay awake and study the materials or what I needed to study or for quiz and exams.

Now..

• Focusing on high-yield topics first

• Get enough sleep

• Doing practice tests before and after studying the material

Don’t make your own flashcards and practice tests it takes so much time , just look for the premade available online that fits the lesson that you need to study this ensures you spend more time and energy actively engaging with the study material., or if there's a lot of time to prepare for exam you can make one flash cards do help , but in my case practice test is much more effective.
