Hey, I have a character who has super strength, and I was wondering what kind of inconvienices or advantages that would cause?

Super strength Ideas

Advantages

being able to lift their partner/children/friends easily

being able to carry all their groceries in one go and not having to go back a second time

easily breaking free of any restraints

being able to stop things coming their way, ex. cars, trains, chairs thrown at them

being able to kick down any door

always winning at arm wrestling competitions

crushing normally uncrushable things as a party trick

Disadvantages

breaking a lot of things, ex. door handles, tea cups, hands if too excited to shake them

always having to hold back with everything physical

being afraid to hurt people they love by accident

A Secret Fourth JTTW Headband?

As many already know, Sun Wukong is not the only spirit who wears a "tightening fillet" (jingu er, 緊箍兒). There are three such headbands, each one with a particular name & spell. All are used to submit powerful monsters:

1. Sun Wukong - “Constrictive” (jin, 緊) - ch. 14 2. Black Bear Demon - “Prohibitive” (jin, 禁) - ch. 17 3. Red Boy - “Golden” (jin, 金) - ch. 42

It's interesting that all of them are pronounced "jin" (with varying tones).

Now imagine that there was a secret fourth headband not intended to punish but to empower. Called the "Strength" (jin, 勁) headband, it would only be used in the most extreme emergencies.

Would you use it in the original story, or would you use it in an AU story? I'd like to hear from my readers.

RE: Superpowers that need Secondary Superpowers to not suck: Flight would need super oxygen efficiency otherwise people who fly too high need supplementary oxygen to keep conscious (like mountain climbers).

Super Strength needs a side of Super Durability otherwise lifting things will break your spine.

Enhanced Senses need a way to turn them off otherwise your superpower will be Super-Sensory Overload.

There's more but these are my favorites.

Good ones! The super strength in particular is one I'm always amazed that people don't think of. Particularly when the character in question is strong because of a robot arm or something, but they don't have a robot spine to back it up.

(And the ground is never strong enough to support the weight of an entire building centered on two footprints, and the building would fall apart anyway, and and and. Gotta think these things through! )

I admit that Strong Girl Nam soon does not the strong hook factor that many kdramas have, that make you want to watch more. There is a lot of jumbled storylines and a lot of things are happening which are not so interesting to watch. (Currently am only watching coz of Ryu Shi oh, coz hot damn, that villian is some fine villian). But, one thing I realised today, that we /need/ dramas like them. I need some goofy dramas where the female lead can beat up people who have wronged her if she wished to do so, coz she is powerful enough to do it, and powerful enough to make it hurt.

Yes, I have seen dramas where the FL gets their revenge in a satisfyingly gruesome way....but there are some days where I am too jaded by real life to have the energy to sit through scaens where they are abused (coz those are the days when the slightest hint can become a trigger for my memories).....there are days where I just want goofiness onscreen and the woman winning. Sometimes I just want to see her breaking that bone just because she can and coz handbroken bone soup tastes must better (I also enjoy the awe she brings and how the peers wouldn't dare to cross her). I want to see casual retaliation by the woman which results in broken bones and broken teeth coz they dared to make her angry. Strong Girl do bong soon, and Strong woman nam soon, and two such shows for me and I am eternally grateful. There are days where the casual mention of abuse/violence against woman that kdramas incorporate into their story lines become triggering, but I still want to enjoy my silly romance and feel the joy of women being strong enough to beat them all up.

So, Thank you nam soon and family.

I love the idea of a woman with super strength just gently pinning me down and using me. She does it gently because she's so strong that she doesn't need to put any effort in to overcome my feeble normal muscles. She straddles me and pins my arms above my head with one arm, leaving her a free hand to toy with my body. I'd struggle against her grip, not because I want to escape, but because I love the feeling of helplessness.
