Will part 3 continue this trend? Wait and see.

Star Nia Vardalos, who also wrote the first two films, adds director to her duties for this third installment.
September 15th
A Haunting in Venice - Kenneth Branagh is back as Hercule Poirot (and in the director’s chair) for this latest Agatha Christie adaptation - this time the 1969 novel Hallowe’en Party. Tina Fey, Jamie Dornan, Michelle Yeoh, and Kelly Reilly join the cast this time around.

Spy Kids: Armageddon - Coming to Netflix this month is a reboot of the Spy Kids film franchise from Robert Rodriguez, starring Gina Rodriguez and Zachary Levi.
Flora and Son - Writer/Director John Carney is back with his first film since 2016′s Sing Street. Starring Eve Hewson and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, this musical comedy-drama will be in theaters for a week and then hit AppleTV+.
September 29th
The Creator - John David Washington stars in this original science fiction action thriller from director Gareth Edwards, the director’s first film since Rogue One.
Saw X - Tobin Bell is back as Jigsaw in the tenth film in the series that acts as a direct sequel to the first Saw film and a prequel to Saw II.
PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie - Ryder and the gang are back for this sequel to 2021 PAW Patrol: The Movie.
She Came to Me - Peter Dinklage, Marisa Tomei, and Anne Hathaway star in this upcoming romantic comedy from writer/director Rebecca Miller.
Now for a quick look ahead to October, my top picks for next month are Killers of the Flower Moon, Priscilla, and Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour.

Ranking every teen drama I've watched
I have gotten really into teen dramas lately, because it's quarantine I can't go out and have fun, but I can still watch other people my age going out and having fun and doing things I don't get to do. Anyway I haven't seen all teen dramas, I was never interested in supernatural ones, so you won't find Vampire Diaries and similar shows on this list.
From worst to best:
The Secret Life of the American Teenager
I will never understand how this show ran for five seasons. It will forever remain a mystery to me. This show is so bad it's good. The writing resembles a wattpad story, Amy's pregnancy is inconsistent (like how was she five months pregnant for like five or six episodes, aren't the episodes supposed to be set a week apart?), the acting is bad (that is not to say that Molly Ringwald or Shailene Woodley are bad actresses, obviously they're not, I'm talking about Amy's sister that has the same facial expression no matter what her mood is supposed to be), some of the views this show expresses are very old-fashioned and damaging (the madonna-whore binary, the fact that they can't even utter the word abortion) and every single male character on this show is a creep and a cheater. I can't believe I watched like thirteen episodes of this. I will never get that time back.
Weirdest moment: "I'm a whore!" "Well, you're my whore." (Was this supposed to be romantic??)
Best moment: none
Glee
This is going to be unpopular and don't get me wrong, I like Glee, but I feel like the writers put much more thought into the musical numbers than the storylines. Again, Quinn's pregnancy is inconsistent (but I'm starting to think TV shows are always inconsistent about pregnancies), the characters don't look like they're in high school at all, the cheerleaders wear their uniforms 24/7 for no reason (Quinn even wore it to her sonogram, like seriously?) the whole celibacy club thing is weird and Mr Schue is a terrible teacher. However, the visuals and the musical numbers are great, Sue Sylvester is iconic (albeit also a terrible teacher) and some of the scenes are really emotional (Kurt singing I Wanna Hold Your Hand made my sister cry) so overall, it's pretty good.
Weirdest moment: Finn praying to grilled cheese (what??)
Best moment: Quinn giving birth to Bohemian Rhapsody, Kurt singing I Wanna Hold Your Hand
Dawson's Creek
I LOVE their 90s' outfits and Joey and Pacey are really otp material, but I just can't stand Dawson! He got mad that Joey didn't tell him about his mother's affair, as if it was her place to get involved. She was 15! It's understandible she didn't want to get tangled into that mess. He also slut-shamed Jen in a really gross way. He literally stopped talking to her for a day when he found out she isn't a virgin. Why are both Joey and Jen into this guy?? This would've been a much better show if it was called Joey's Creek or Pacey's Creek.
Weirdest moment: the way Dawson's mom confessed her affair to her husband. I don't think any irl human would use this choice of words. Also that scene where Dawson's father was teaching him how to kiss while Joey was watching. Cringe.
Best moment: any time Joey and Pacey are bickering. My shipper heart!
Pretty Little Liars
I loved the book version of this, but the TV version seems way too dramatic. First of all, they romanticized Aria and Ezra's relationship (ewww) and made the whole thing seem much more overdramatic. I don't know how to explain it, I mean the books are also dramatic but the TV show somehow took it to a whole new level. None of the girls look like they're in high school, but I love the way they dress and do their makeup. It's almost as though the writers put more thought into their outfits than storylines. I still loved watching it until Netflix took it off, though.
Weirdest moment: Spencer somehow trying to block A's number from her laptop in the middle of a park and then being confused that it didn't work. Weren't you supposed to be the smart one, Spencer?
Best moment: Haleb in the shower, hiding from Hanna's mom.
Skins
This is a classic. Effy is iconic (I somehow heard about her even before watching Skins) and the musical number at the end of season 1 was out of nowhere but still somehow fit perfectly into the story. I also give this show point for being one of the few TV shows where teen characters are actually played by real life teens. They look their age, talk their age (no "I reject reality" or other cringy lines like that) and aren't unrealistically perfect like characters from American teen dramas tend to be. They look like people you might actually meet in high school. However the show loses points for all the continuity errors (are 8 episodes supposed to be the whole school year??) and the number of unneccessary death/tragic accidents. It seemed kind of over-the-top and unneccessarily dark and brutal at times.
Weirdest moment: Chris's graphic death
Best moment: Wild World
Euphoria
The Gen Z American version of Skins, but with better visuals. Much better. I loved the aesthetic, the colors, the lighting and glitter. Zendaya's a great actress and I give this show points for casting an actual trans actress in the role of Jules. However I find it weird that all guys on this show are complete irredeemable assholes (except of Jules's dad and Ethan that is). Are we supposed to just root for the girls and not the guys? Also I find it hard to believe that any of these characters are actually 16/17. They have sex all the time (yeah teenagers have sex sometimes but on this show they treated Kat as some kind of a chaste nun for being a virgin at 16) and have seemingly no rules and no curfew. It would've been much more believable if they were in college.
Weirdest moment: Nate breaking into Tyler's house, beating him up and then taking a shower. The audacity this guy has!
Best moment: "You did this to me!" and Rue having an anxiety attack on the stage in theater class
Gossip Girl
I know this is also an unpopular opinion, because many claim Gossip Girl is the best teen drama ever, but for me it just got way too soapy as the seasons went on. The first two seasons were believable, even though they didn't really look like they were in high school, but after that it was just more and more weird plot points. I will give this show points for the fashion (I mean Blair's headbands and school uniform inspired a fashion line), the acting ("I killed someone"- iconic) and the choice of background music (Nate and Serena kissing to Paparazzi, Thanksgiving with Watcha Say). Despite the wild twists and turns of events, I just had to keep watching because this show had me hooked.
Weirdest moment: Bart Bass somehow flying off the building for no reason (seriously, what he did there had no logical explanation and defied laws of physics), Dan being Gossip Girl, Bart faking his death and returning more evil than before, Serena becoming Gossip Girl, the affidavit, everyone randomly stopping going to college... there are so many but Bart takes the cake I guess
Best moment: the Thanksgiving flashbacks from season 1, Dan placing a plastic crown on Blair's head
Freaks and Geeks
This is one of the few shows where high school is depicted realistically. It's not all glitter and parties and not everyone has sex and does drugs. Okay, I admit, the bullying was over the top and it was weird how no adults cared but other than that, it was pretty spot-on. It was emotional without being too dramatic and far-fetched and also had funny moments. Yes some of the characters may have been stereotypes but at least the show seemed self-aware of that. It's truly a shame we only got 18 episodes of this show, while The Secret Life of the American Teenager somehow got five seasons??? I don't get it.
Weirdest moment: when Cindy suddenly got super mean once she started dating Sam
Best moment: Daniel showing up at Kim's doorstep, Sam breaking down in tears in the end of 'Garage Door'
Gilmore Girls
I'm not sure this one counts as a teen drama, maybe it's more of a dramedy but I'm still including it here. It's funny, the dialogue is witty and full of obscure pop-culture references and the relationships between generations complex. Same as with Freaks and Geeks, the portrayal of high school is pretty realistic. Characters are shown studying and taking tests and not just partying all the time. However the show loses points for getting weirdly soapy in the 7th season. The dialogue wasn't as good and the camera angles were soap opera like and the storylines weren't very good either. You could really tell the show changed show-runners. The earlier seasons are the best. It's hard to explain but something about them feels cozy like a warm blanket and a cup of hot chocolate on a rainy day.
Weirdest moment: Lorelai marrying Chris and then making the whole "you're the man I want to want" speech, Lorelai defending and loving Dean for no reason
Best moment: Rory's graduation speech, Rory yelling at Chris and calling him out for not having been there for her, Then She Appeared, "Yes Emily, you may go first"... there are so many!

New from Kevin Wozniak on Kevflix: Best of the 2010s – Best Performances
I saw a lot of movies over the last decade and with that, I saw a lot of performances too.  The amount of great performances I saw over the last ten years was ridiculous, so making this list was incredibly tough and took a number of rewatches and some deep thinking.  What makes a great performance?  The key factor for me when making this list was which performance had the biggest impact on me.  Which performances do I think about constantly?  Which performances come back to me every now and then and I think about how great they are?  Which performances to I look up on YouTube just to get a glimpse of greatness?
For this list, I broke it down like the Oscars, where there is Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Actress, and Best Actor.  For each category, I ranked my ten favorite performances, with my favorite performance of each category taking the number one spot.  I will then give a brief description as to why I picked the number one choice.
One rule for each category: if an actor had multiple excellent performances, the actor can only be on the list once and I can only choose one of their great performances.  An example would be say, Jennifer Lawrence, who gave great performances in Winter’s Bone and Silver Linings Playbook, yet I can only choose one of the two.  Now, an actor can appear in two different categories (be prepared for a couple of those) but not multiple times in the same category.  Get it?  Great.
Here are my picks for the best performances of the 2010s.
youtube
          BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS
Lupita Nyong’o, 12 Years a Slave
Anne Hathaway, Les Miserables
Michelle Williams, Manchester by the Sea
Hailee Steinfeld, True Grit
Melissa McCarthy, Bridesmaids
Regina King, If Beale Street Could Talk
Alicia Vikander, Ex-Machina
Jessica Chastain, A Most Violent Year
Leslie Manville, Phantom Thread
Tilda Swinton, The Souvenir
What I noticed when making my top ten Best Supporting Actress list was that the list was filled with actors who had put in work for years and finally got a performance that they could sink their teeth in to.  Performances like Regina King in If Beale Street Could Talk, Leslie Manville in Phantom Thread, and Melissa McCarthy in Bridesmaids proved just how great of actors they were.  But the best supporting actress performance of the decade came from a debut performance from an actress who became a star.  Lupita Nyong’o gives one of the truly great debut performances in recent cinematic history in Steve McQueen’s 12 Years a Slave.  Nyong’o plays Patsey, the best cotton picker on the Epps plantation, yet also one who is subject to endless abuse.  This is a heartbreaking, remarkable performance filled with as much love and honesty as heartbreak and pain.  Nyong’o’s strongest scene comes when Patsey gets scolded by Epps for going to a different plantation only to find out that it was for a bar of soap so she could clean herself.  You see the desperation in Nyong’o’s eyes as she pleads to Epps to not whip her, only to see all hope vanish when Epps sets up to give whip her.  It’s an extraordinary performance and one that launched a star.
youtube
          BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR
JK Simmons, Whiplash
Mahershala Ali, Moonlight
Joe Pesci, The Irishman
James Franco, Spring Breakers
Sylvester Stallone, Creed
Christian Bale, The Fighter
Nick Nolte, Warrior
Leonardo DiCaprio, Django Unchained
Michael B. Jordan, Black Panther
Alden Ehrenreich, Hail, Caesar!
When looking at the Best Supporting Actor performances of the decade, both the ones listed and the ones, this was where the strongest performances of the decade came from.  The quantity of great supporting actor performances is endless and the quality goes unmatched.  Though I made a list of ten, the top spot was a four horse race between James Franco, Joe Pesci, Mahershala Ali, and the winner, JK Simmons.  Most people will look at Simmons performance as the tyrannical music teacher Fletcher and focus on the his loud, vulgar insults and coaching methods throughout the film.  But the scene that solidified his performance for the top spot was a quiet conversation between Fletcher and one of his former students, Andrew (Miles Teller).  This is where we learn that Fletcher is more than just a deranged, obsessive music teacher and see him as an actual human, speaking from the heart and even cracking a joke or two.  But we also learn his perspective on his tactics and Simmons delivers it, making us actually understand this man and delivering the scene with an earnestness and passion of a man who believes his methods.  Simmons was a character actor for years and his performance in Whiplash was the performance Simmons had worked his whole career for.
youtube
        BEST ACTRESS
Natalie Portman, Black Swan
Toni Collette, Hereditary
Lupita Nyong’o, Us
Jessica Chastain, Zero Dark Thirty
Rooney Mara, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
Charlize Theron, Mad Max: Fury Road
Sally Hawkins, The Shape of Water
Cate Blanchett, Carol
Sandra Bullock, Gravity
Shailene Woodley, The Fault in Our Stars
What I noticed when looking at the performances for Best Actress was that a lot of actresses had multiple lead performances that could have made this list.  Cate Blanchett, Jessica Chastain, and Jennifer Lawrence (who didn’t make the list) all had multiple great lead performances this decade.  Natalie Portman had the two strongest lead performances of any actress this decade with her work in Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan and in Pablo Larraín’s Jackie.  These performances would have landed number one and two on the list, but because of the rule of one per category, I had to pick between the two and it was Portman’s performance in Black Swan that blew me away when I first saw it and still blows me away to this day.  This is a performance that is as physically impressive as it is emotionally, as Portman plays a ballerina obsessed with becoming the best.  Portman did all her dancing and watching her go from a shy, quiet dancer to the darker, meaner one is an emotional rollercoaster that Portman nails.  Rightfully winning an Oscar for her performance, Portman has never been better and there was no better lead actress performance this decade.
youtube
      BEST ACTOR
Leonardo DiCaprio, The Wolf of Wall Street
Daniel Day-Lewis, Lincoln
Bradley Cooper, A Star is Born
Brad Pitt, Moneyball
Adam Sandler, Uncut Gems
Michael B. Jordan, Creed
Jesse Eisenberg, The Social Network
Channing Tatum, Foxcatcher
Daniel Kaluuya, Get Out
Michael Keaton, Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)
If there were an actor of the decade, there’s a good argument to be made that the decade belonged to Leonardo DiCaprio.  Starring in eight films over the decade and being genuinely great in seven of them (sorry, J. Edgar), DiCaprio proved he is one of the all-time greats.  I already put DiCaprio’s performance in Django Unchained on the Best Supporting Actor list, but his best performance of the decade was in Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street.  This is a balls-to-the-wall performance full of non-stop energy.  DiCaprio flexed his superstar muscle as Jordan Belfort, a one time penny-stock broker who rose fast in the stock market, only to have his life crumble in a whirlwind of a corruption, greed, and drugs.  DiCaprio carries this three-hour epic, taking us on this wild and crazy journey, flashing his comedic chops, yet making a despicable human being so compelling and captivating, showing us a man obsessed with his money and his power.  DiCaprio commands the screen in the best performance of his career.

Domino
The Fanatic
The Haunting of Sharon Tate
A Million Little Pieces
Rambo: Last Blood

Standing Rock Protesters Dig In For Brutal Winter As Showdown Brews
CANNON BALL, N.D ., Dec 3 – In North Dakota, wintertime is most definitely coming.
That does not deter Dakota Access Pipeline protesters, many of whom say they know a blizzard earlier the coming week was but a savor of what is to come, as temperatures are expected to fall toward 0 degrees Fahrenheit( -1 8d egC ).
Rather than retreat amidst the cold and an order from the U.S. Army Corps of Technologist to vacate by Monday, the Oceti Sakowin camp, the epicenter of pipeline opponent, is growing in sizing – and rapidly winterizing in expectation of harsher weather.
Dozens of insulated tipis have popped up in recent weeks, adding to those that have dotted these barren plains since last summertime. Yurts, a round tent popular in the cold tundra of East Asia, have started appearing. Portable toilets are being swapped out for heated, composting commodes. Ice cleats, which strap onto boots to give stability on ice, are now in demand.
Taylor Orpin, 23, quit her job to move to the camp last month. She spends her days collating donated coats by sizing and gender in a tent near the camp’s main flame circle.
“I’m very aware of what true cold is going to feel like, ” said Orpin, a native of Winnipeg, Manitoba. “Here, people are able to come in and just take whatever they need to stay warm.”
Thousands of people, led by the Standing Rock Sioux tribe, are protesting the pipeline, which would carry crude oil from North Dakota to Illinois en route to the Gulf of Mexico.
The route is adjacent to the Standing Rock reservation, and the tribe and climate activists say the line risks contamination of the tribe’s water source and its construction has damaged, and would further injury, sacred sites.
While clothing, food and money have been pouring in from all over the world, the camp’s website requests more donations of wood, blankets, wintertime sleeping bags and propane to assist weather the winter.
A division of labor maintains many active, with campers volunteering in the four kitchens, shoveling snow, house tents and doing myriad other tasks.
The multitudes at the camp elude the predictions of state and local officials, many of whom said out-of-state protesters would flee south like migrating birds. Children can be seen sliding playfully down nearby hills while senior citizen gossip over flame pits.
“It’s a scare tactic, saying it’s too cold to be here, ” said Gemma Akins, 36, a Reiki healer – a kind of stress reduction – from Colorado.
North Dakota Governor Jack Dalrymple issued an evacuation order for the camp earlier the coming week, quoting the weather. That followed the Army Corps’ earlier decree to vacate the camp, which is on federal land, by Monday. The country is not going to enforce that order, and voluntary compliance doesn’t look likely.
“I have zero experience with the cold, ” said Jess Weiner, 29, of Los Angeles, who arrived Thursday. “But I love the adrenaline of being here.”
DONATIONS AND SKILLS
It’s not clear how much money has been raised to build and sustain the camp since it was founded last spring, but calculates stand in the millions of dollars. The protests started attracting more attention in the late summertime, particularly after clashes between activists and private security hired by Energy Transfer Partner, which is building the line.
The Obama Administration has twice delayed approving for ETP to tunnel the pipeline under the Missouri River. This one-mile stretch is the last unfinished place on the line in North Dakota.
The Three Affiliated Tribes of the MHA Nation, another large American Indian tribe in North Dakota, earlier this autumn funded portable toilets, food and garbage removal. Even though they have earned billions from the extraction of oil and gas from their lands, the MHA have supported the Standing Rock protest.
U.S. postal locatings in nearby Bismarck and Fort Yates have been engulfed with donated packages. Three UPS delivery locatings in Bismarck have processed more than 5,000 packages in recent weeks. A UPS spokesman said the number well exceeds what is usual for the area.
Financial support, including more than $500,000 alone for a veterans rally this weekend at the camp, have been pouring in through GoFundMe and other crowdfunding websites.
Beyond donations, Hollywood actors like Shailene Woodley and Susan Sarandon have visited North Dakota, though they are not currently at the camp.
Some campers bring technical skills. Joshua Tree, 42, has helped install solar panel and gust turbines to power a white, dome-like structure that dwarfs everything else here. The dome, which organizers tell can hold 380 people, is where most meetings and press events are held.
“We wanted to help the best way we can. And that’s setting up solar power and wind power, ” said Tree.
As the group tries to ward off the cold, challenges loom. One family had to be hospitalized on Thursday due to carbon monoxide gas poisoning after attempting to hot a tent utilizing propane without proper ventilation. That feeds concern from law enforcement that protesters don’t respect the weather.
“These are people who don’t yet understand what cold is, ” Wayne Stenehjem, North Dakota’s attorney general, told Reuters.
Signs posted around the camp note there are 18 different communal sleeping areas that are warmer than personal tents.
“We cannot stress how cold it’s going to get, ” the posting reads. “Don’t be in a small tent or your car and think you’ll be OK. Let’s all look after each other.”

Ranking every Teen Drama I have ever watched
(Updated)
The Secret Life of the American Teenager
+ young Shailene Woodley and Molly Ringwald I guess
- everything else. Even Shailene Woodley's and Molly Ringwald's performances weren't that great because the writing is just oh so bad. The background music is bland and repetative and it sounds like out of some teenager's YouTube chanel. The plotlines are ridiculous and convoluted, which isn't neccessarily such a bad thing, because it is a teen drama show after all, the problem is the show seems to take itself too seriously. Other entries on this list also have ridiculously convoluted plotlines, but I'm ranking them highed because they don't take themselves too seriously and don't claim to be realistic like this show does. Seriously, from the title it suggests like this was going to be a real, uncensored look into high school but it's the furthest thing from it. Not to mention how problematic it is- God forbid someone suggests that a 14-year-old pregnant girl gets an abortion or gives the baby up for adoption without being seen as a terrible and despicable person.
Otp: Marc Molina x a job somewhere far, far away from these kids
Notps: every single pairing on this show
Best moment: literally none
Weirdest moment: "I'm such a whore!" "Well, you're my whore." What were the writers thinking??? Was this supposed to be romantic??
We Children From Zoo Station
+the aesthetic, the casting of Christiane, Detlef and Axel
-this was such a letdown. Honestly I was so hyped for it after seeing the trailer since I've read the book and didn't particularly like the movie- I feel like it's hard to fit all of Christiane's story into 90 minutes. That's why I was so excited about this show. Christiane's story covers so much, so it's easier to make it into a TV show when you don't want to ommit anything and butcher the story. But they somehow managed to do it anyway. They changed so much for no reason and completely erased Christiane's childhood trauma, which was important in the book. Now, I know you can say that it's just a loose adaptation, so it doesn't have to follow the book word for word. But I feel like if you already decided to tell her- a real person's story- you should at least do it authentically. Imo they shouldn't have tried to make the setting vague. It worked with Sex Education because the story of Sex Education is timeless. However, Christiane's story is not timeless. It's a true story set in the 1970s. If they were making a new show from scratch, I would have liked it. But this is an already existing story and they’re supposed to be just retelling it. My last issue is a nit pick but I wish the actresses playing Stella and Babsi were reversed. It just would've fit better.
Otps: all those kids x sobriety
Notp: Christiane x Detlef
Best moment: Christiane's first time in Sound was pretty true to the book
Weirdest moment: when Detlef became a gigolo because he needed money for his dog. Who tf thought of that?
Pretty Little Liars
+ makeup, style, the theme song, the drama and mystery that always kept me guessing, the cliffhangers at the end of each episode that made it so addictive, Emily's coming out story, Hanna and Spencer had some good lines
- the mishandling of some serious issues (namely eating disorders), romantization of student-teacher relationship, the timeline not making much sense, these writers seem to put more thought into the characters' outfits than the storylines
Otps: Emily x Maya, Hanna x Caleb
Notp: Ezria
Best moment: Hanna and Caleb in the shower (the sexual tension was cuttable with a knife)
Weirdest moments: Aria asking Ezra out in the middle of a make-up test (it was supposed to be cute but it was just cringy), Spencer trying to block A's text messages on a laptop, in the middle of a park (what? Spencer, you were supposed to be the smart one!)
One Tree Hill
+ Brooke, the theme song, Chad Michael Murray
- the casual drinking and driving (I mean seriously these kids play a drinking game at a party and then casually hop into a car and drive home??), too much basketball and cheerleading (that's not a bad thing per se but I just don't really care about neither of these things), it just seems too stereotypical and kinda bland?? I couldn't really get into it
Otp: Naley
Notp: Peyton x Nathan
Best moment: Naley by the dock
Weirdest moment: "I guess I'm just a riddle, wrapped in a mystery inside a bitch." It's not really a bad moment but a cringy line. I guess the writers though they were being clever but it just sounded bad.
Dawson's Creek
+ the clothes, the 90s aesthetic, the 90s soundtrack, many movie references, Pacey is a sweetheart, Jen is a feminist icon, dealing with mental health issues through Andie (it's rare to see in shows as old as this)
- the slutshaming of Jen really hasn't aged well, the storyline of Pacey being statury raped by his much older teacher was mishandled (it was either treated as scandalous, cool or in Andie’s case somehow shameful), same goes for Jen’s backstory- it was mentioned she was raped at 12 by an older man and then never brought up again, Dawson is the most unlikable protagonist ever and his friendship/relationship with Joey is codependent and possessive, the dialogue is sometimes pretentious and unrealistic, the timeline doesn't really add up- I can never tell what time of the year it's supposed to be, because it looks like it's always fall for some reason. And how did they sophomore year have two homecomings?
Otps: Pacey x Andie, Pacey x Joey (yes, both at the same time)
Notp: Dawson x Joey
Best moments: Jen helping Joey when that jerk was spreading rumours about her and then Jen and Joey locking Abby in the closet together (I love it when they stick together instead of tearing each other down), Pacey and Joey bickering
Weirdest moments: when Joey was upset because Dawson didn’t want to tell her how often he “walks his dog”, when Jen was about to have a treesome at a party and Dawson walked into the room and carried her out despite her kicking and screaming
Glee
+ funny, Sue Sylvester's iconic, great covers and a way to find new songs, the performances are aesthetically pleasing, lgbtq+ representation, tackling of serious issues, coming out story, a father who’s accepting of his son’s sexuality right away despite not really understanding it (it’s so rare to see, that’s why it’s so refreshing), the plotlines are ridiculous but at least the show doesn't take itself too seriously
-as I already said the 1st season was great but after that it just seemed like the writers made up a checklist of hard issues they should tackle and tried to tackle every single one of them while covering every single song and it just fell flat. Prime example- Quinn ending up in a wheelchair getting into a car crash to warn us from drinking and driving, singing I’m Still Standing and then suddenly being able to walk normally after. a few episodes Rachel and Finn got almost all songs, while other characters were criminally underrated and underused (Tina, Quinn, Mercedes). The teachers are questionable to put it mildly. Cringy moments- Finn singing You're Having My Baby to Quinn in front of her parents when it wasn't even his baby! Also no one except of Kurt looks like they could be in high school. And why are these cheerleaders wearing their uniforms 24/7??
Otps: Brittana, Sam x Quinn, Tina x Artie (unpopular opinion, I know), Mr Schue x unemployment
Notp: Quinn x Finn
Best moments: Quinn giving birth to Bohemian Rhapsody
Weirdest moment: Rachel's gross and painfully awkward crush on Mr Schue, Mr Schue joining the Glee club on the stage for a performance of Toxic and girls in the audience cat calling him (Ewww)
Euphoria
+ Zendaya's and Jacob Elordi's performances, tackling of serious issues such as drug addiction and overdose, anxiety and depression, abusive relationships and abortion in a better manner than most (if not all) teen dramas, the aesthetics, makeup and wardrobe, the musical number in the finale, the special episodes giving us insight into the characters' psychology, toxic relationships not being romanticized (which is sadly rare), teenagers sounding like actual real life teens (no "I reject reality" crap)
- lack of comic relief (why so serious all the time), sexualization of teen characters (I know this is something many teen dramas are guilty of but it's the most evident here), too much nudity (I know some of you are going to come at me with: "But it's realistic!" So what? It is realitic that teenagers get naked when they go into shower but does it mean we have to see it?? It seems to me like this show is trying too hard to be "boundary pushing" at times and ends up being scandalous just for the sake of being scandalous), these characters just aren't believable as high school juniors to me (they sound like high schoolers but they certainly don’t act, look or dress that way). There's no reason this show couldn't have been set in college.
Otps: Rue x sobriety, Nate x prison
Notps: Nate x Maddy, Cassie x McKay
Best moments: "You did this to me!" and the musical number in the season 1 finale
Weirdest moment: the fact that Maddy lost her virginity at 14 to a 40-year-old man being mentioned so casually because apparently she was "totally in control". Excuse me what??
Skins
+ style and makeup- each character has a signature trademark (Sid and his beanie, Effy's eyeliner, Cassie's soft eyeshadow), their British accents, I'm pretty sure this is the only teen drama that follows multiple classes, teenage characters being played by actual teen actors, the characters looking like average people you meet in high school and not as if they just walked off the runway, dealing with serious issues such as drug abuse, eating disorder, parental abandonment etc (yes, some people claim the show romanticized it, but I disagree. It's not the show that romanticized it- it's the fans. The show tried to portray the dangers of drugs as well as possible. Think about it- every time characters used drugs it ended in a disaster. In the pilot they thought that Cassie overdosed and ended up crashing a car while rushing into the hospital. In later season Effy hit her friend in the head with a rock because she was having a bad trip. That's not romanticizing drugs.), Effy is iconic and honestly the first episode was enough to get me hooked
- every single teacher being a creep and having a thing for a student at some point, the show can get too dark and unncessarily dramatic at times. Did that many people have to die? Did Chris's death really have to be this graphic? Timeline doesn't really add up- are 8 episodes supposed to cover the whole year? It would've made more sense if there were more episodes in a season.
Otps: Chris x Jal, Emily x Naomi
Notps: Sid x Michelle
Best moment: ooh baby it's a wild world
Weirdest moment: Chris's graphic death
The OC
+ more grounded in reality than many others on this list, the theme song, the love stories, Seth and Summer are funny, the friendships are believable and the whole group has great chemistry
- too many unneccessary fights, Luke is the worst, everyone is way too casual about drunk driving, these parents are WAAAY too chill (I know this can be said about many teen dramas but it's the most obvious here. How did the Roberts and the Coopers let two 16-year-old girls go to Mexico alone?? With no supervision?? What?)
Otps: Seth x Summer, Ryan x Marissa
Notp: Luke x Marissa
Best moments: the “oh no, there’s only one bed” in the Mexico episode, Seth and Summer's first kiss and that kiss at the yacht, Ryan and Marissa's first date by the pool
Weirdest moment: these parents letting their teenage kids go to Mexico alone. It's irresponsible when they're 16 but apparently they let them go there and party every year. What?
Gossip Girl
+ every episode having a clever title, the style, the makeup, the 00s soundtrack, the glamour of it all (it feels like reading a very gossipy magazine!), all the scandals, this show never pretends to portray the realitic teenage experience so it can pretty much be as far-fetched as it wants to and you can’t question it, it gives you a chance to live the fantasy of being super rich, living with a penthouse, riding a limo to school and going to parties in New York City every night
- the final reveal doesn't make any sense, just like with PLL these writers seemed to have put more thought into the outfits and makeup than into the plotlines, romantization of a toxic relationship, having every two straight characters date or hook up at some point, which just felt forced, mishandling of serious issues (Blair's eating disorder, Eric's suicide attempt and Serena and Jenny's sexual assault from the pilot being brought up when it's convenient but not really dealt with and brushed off at other times), sexualization of teen characters
Otps: Dan x Blair, Serena x Nate
Notps: Chuck x Blair
Best moments: the Thanksgiving flashbacks, Blair and Serena running around New York and taking selfies in stolen dresses, Nate and Serena’s first time (although it was better in the books) and then their kiss at the white party, the sheer scandal of "I killed someone", Dan giving Blair a plastic tiara to make her feel like a princess
Weirdest moments: Chuck's father returning from the death and then dying again, by yeeting himself off the roof
Freaks and Geeks
+ probably the most realistic teen drama there is, the characters dress the way I can see actual teens dressing, funny, but also heatbreaking at times, probably the only teen show that included an intersex character, the characters being a little stereotypical but self-aware at least, young James Franco and Jason Segel
- the bullying being a bit too much at times and it's a bit unrealistic that the teachers would do literally nothing about it, too short- I will never understand why this got cancelled
Otps: Daniel x Kim, Lindsay x Nick, Amy x Ken
Notps: Sam x Cindy
Best moments: Sam breaking down at the end of Garage Door, Daniel and Kim getting back together in the rain
Weirdest moment: Cindy doing a 180 and becoming super mean when she started dating Sam.
Gilmore Girls
+ so many movie, literary and music references, the quotable lines (what a great way to learn about new movies, books and bands! It’s so unique for a TV show to make you smarter), the witty banter, the comfort of the first few seasons (it really feels like wrapping a warm blanket around yourself while holding a hot cup of coffee, I can’t explain why, but it’s such a comfort show), the quirky small town with many unique festivals, many entertaining and snappy fights where everyone has a point, characters dealing with real world problems (seriously, how often do you see a storyline about termites? Or a teenager with zit cream on a teen drama show?), this is also one of the few shows where teenagers are shown to have rules and restrictions and curfews (finally some kids growing up with strict parents representation) and doing homework and studying and not just partying and drinking and having sex all the time and that’s so refreshing
- but while it is refreshing to see teenagers waiting to have sex and not doing it behind every corner, the show is kind of sex negative. Every single time a (female) character loses her virginity it ends in a disaster. Even when she loses it after she’s married! It doesn’t make any sense, unless the writers just really hated women. Also slutshaming (”I got the good kid!”) ewww. The money and budget doesn’t make much sense on the show either and the girls seem immune to calories. I know some people might come at me for this with: “But it’s just a show!” but I think it’s harmful to show beautiful, thin women eat nothing but tons of junkfood all the time and never excersize and then fatshame people who do excersize but aren’t fortunate enough to be blessed with amazing Gilmore genes, and then throw around tactless references to eating disorders.
Otps: Lane x Dave, Jess x Rory
Notps: Lane x Zach, Rory x Dean, Lorelai x Christopher
Best moments: Then She Appeared, Rory’s valedictorian speech, Lorelai’s graduation
Weirdest moment: Lorelai and Christopher getting married in Paris at 4am. That’s not how it works in Europe. Do Americans think every single Europian country works like Las Vegas, where you can just get married whenever you decide??
