Lover marries dead girlfriend, vows to remain celibate for life
Guwahati: While on the one hand, the case of Aftab’s brutality regarding the Shraddha murder case is overshadowed in the country, on the other hand, a unique example of love has come to the fore from Assam. For the fic writer ask game :)
11, 65, 25
11: Link your three favorite fics right now
3? only 3? wow, that's tough. I've just reread 'Catch a Falling Star' which is an evergreen fave of mine.
'Whatever it Takes' is TENSE in the most delicious way right now
and this TAG/HTTYD fic is all sorts of intriguing (sorry, don't know how to do the thingy on the letter to give it's title) 25. What fic do you wish you got more of a response on?
If I'm being 100% honest it's the fics I've written for The Elenium/Tamuli fandom (fanstasy series from the early 90's which I can't really recommend. They were fine when I read them when I was 12 but there is much better stuff out there and I have my rose tinted glasses glued in place, and the author was the most terrible sort of person) but there is pratically no online fandom for it that I can find so though I always hope for more I think they're getting about as much respose as they should do for the number of people interested. This is how I know I write for me - if I didn't there is no way I would have written about 90k for it! 65. Tell us about what you’re most looking forward to writing – in your current project, or a future project
wow, again so many! looking through my wip folder I have something I've wanted to write for Star Trek Voyager for ages, and one for Mistborn that I'm really going to indulge myself in (characters with magical healing are like a gift from heaven for whump writers)
And I have some emotional trauma coming up for Mr J Tracy, and then I'm probably going to break his leg - fun!
Thank you for asking <3

Hunter Black Page 110 - Weyland's Bay
That is a statue of Vanion Weyland, the founder of the Church. Vanion is a name I cribbed from one of the characters in The Elenium and The Tamuli by David and Leigh Eddings -- someone high up in the Church, actually -- and Weyland is taken from the main character of my very favorite novel, The Legacy of Heorot by Larry Niven, Jerry Pournelle, and Steven Barnes. Just homages to the things I love.

ribbon, Santa, Rudolph, candy cane, hot cocoa, Yule Log, snowman
Ribbon: What’s a book that had a strong impact on you? As a writer, definitely David & Leigh Eddings The Elenium/The Tamuli series and The Belgariad/The Mallorean series. Like, I am so invested in those world and those characters as I read them, and I want my writing to pull people in and make them want to stay in the same way. As a reader? The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster and Alice In Wonderland/Alice Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Caroll.
Santa: What’s your favorite month? Ocober! Halloween is my favoritest holiday ever.
Rudolph: What’s a band a family member introduced you to? My sister got me into Switchfoot after she did the lighting rig at one of their concerts. They're playing in San Diego tomorrow night (FOR FREE) in Balboa Park at the Organ pavilion if anyone wants to see them for December Nights.
Candy Cane: Can you make paper snowflakes? I can, but they look funky unless I start with a circular piece of paper that I didn't have to cut out.
Hot Cocoa: What’s your favorite thing about yourself? My creativity, even if it's waned a lot this year thanks to long haul COVID symptoms (brain fog, oh how I hate you).
Yule Log: Least favorite vegetable? Brussels sprouts. I might try them again if they were, like, roasted with garlic and parmesan? But I had a bad experience with steamed ones as a kid so I usually try and avoid them.
Snowman: Do you like accents? I do! And not just the popular or sexy ones, either.

top 5 fictional equines?
Oh this is a tough one!
1. Spirit
He's got such an adorable design and I love his expressive eyebrows 🥰
I absolutely adored this film when I was little and it's still one of my favourites now (I definitely don't still get too emotional whilst watching it)! I remember there were extras on the DVD that showed you how to draw Spirit, and that's where my horse-drawing obsession sprung from!
Tumblr media
2. Ixion
Magical lightning unicorn summon!! What more could a girl ask for? He always ends up being my most powerful party member and I will happily farm waves of enemies, in order to give him the best abilities and decent stats!
I also really love his design for X-2 - robot unicorn attack!
Tumblr media
3. Red Hare
The famed steed of the mighty Lu Bu! I always enjoy stealing him away from Lu Bu (or Guan Yu) in the old Dynasty Warriors games 😊
Tumblr media
4. Faran - Sparhawk's horse from the Elenium and the The Tamuli series
I love that David Eddings made Faran a character with plenty of personality! He is prideful, grouchy and Sparhawk is often repeating warnings to new-comers and companions alike. Both will be met with flat ears and unfriendly stares.
In my current D&D group, my character has Faran as her mount 💜
5. Amalthea
Somehow, I only managed to first watch The Last Unicorn a few years back and Amalthea is such a wonderful character with a stunning design✨ the novel is really magical too, I can definitely recommend it!

Trollabundin Eri Eg [The Tamuli]
As the one other person making the questionable decision to be a david eddings fanfic writer I feel honour bound to ask about that one. Also because I really want to know!
I really do want to do something with this one day. The basic premise grew out of my vague annoyance at the trolls getting shafted by Aphrael's deal with their gods. Set shortly after the end of the books, the fic was supposed to follow Ulath and Tynian as they went north to attempt to broker some kind of compromise between Aphrael, the Troll Gods, and the Thalesians.
Also naturally they get together at some point in all of this. Something something deciding to take a chance on peace with the trolls as a metaphor for deciding you don't give a fuck if you get excommunicated for having a boyfriend.
The opening:
The southern coastline of Thalesia reared up out of the dark waters of the strait like the walls of some vast fortress, the waves churning themselves to froth at the base made tiny and insignificant by the comparison. Here and there, stubborn scraps of greenery clung to the rock, outlining some few precipitous ledges. Tiny white flecks of shrill seabirds haunted the craggy face like motes of dust drifting through a shaft of sunlight.
“I don’t mean any disrespect to your homeland,” Tynian said, contemplating the view, “But I’m having trouble picturing how your ancestors saw this and thought ‘that looks like an excellent place to live’.”
Ulath shrugged. “It’s defensible.”
“So’s the north pole, I’m sure. I’d still rather not settle down there.”

Top 5 ancient and nearly forgotten gods?
um, i'm gonna be honest with you. i am not super into mythology, so any gods that i do know about are no where near "nearly forgotten" because they're the ones everyone knows about. like my knowledge comes from things like pjo. so i can either give you a top 5 of just gods i know, or i can like drop the ancient part? like i read books that make up mythology & if those books aren't well read by my age bracket, i'm the only one that knows about them pretty much. or i can keep the "ancient" part because it's kinda funny referring to the '90's as ancient.
you know what, i'm gonna do that, because now i find it a little funny
Aphrael (The Elenium and The Tamuli trilogies by David Eddings)
Bhelliom (The Elenium and The Tamuli trilogies by David Eddings) (technically not a god but I don't care)
Tyrael (Diablo) (also technically not a god but I don't care) (yes, much more well known, but if the only person I can talk to about these games/books is my dad, I'm including it)
Edaemus (The Elenium and The Tamuli trilogies by David Eddings)
Setras (The Elenium and The Tamuli)

The Legend of Lachit Borphukan
Who Was Lachit Barphukan? [1622–1672]
Lachit Borphukan was the greatest general of the Ahom kingdom who defeated the royal army of the Mughals despite leading a much weaker army during the Saraighat Battle in 1671. Lachit was born to Momai Tamuli in 1622 in the Ahom Kingdom, which ruled Assam for 600 years from 1228–1826. The Ahom King Chakradhwaja Singha selected Lachit Borphukan to command the expedition against the Mughals and appointed him as the Borphukan in 1667. Prior to his appointment to Borphukanship, he also had held the offices of Baruas and Phukans.
The Battle of Saraighat
Despite being half of the Royal Army, Lachit’s clever war strategy- including naval and guerrilla warfare, devastated the huge Mughal troopers. The Battle was planned primarily by exploiting the sole weakness of the Mughal forces — it’s navy. Despite being physically ill Lachit led the Ahom army till regaining total control of the war. This was named one of the greatest and the most historic military victories against the Mughals ever.
The Battle of Saraighat was the last major attempt by the Mughals to extend their empire into Assam. Though the Mughals managed to regain Guwahati briefly later after a Borphukan deserted it, the Ahoms wrested control in the Battle of Itakhuli in 1682 and maintained it till the end of their rule.
In order to immortalize the legacy of this braveheart, the National Defence Academy confers ‘Lachit Borphukan Gold Medal’ every year to the best passing out cadet since 1999.
Why Lachit Divas Is Celebrated in Assam
November 24 is celebrated as Lachit Divas in Assam to commemorate the heroism of Lachit Borphukan and the victory of the Ahom Army at the Battle of Saraighat.

Day 19 of the #writerfriendschallenge - Most Re-read Books?
Some of my most reread books are comfort books. Some are just staples of my favourite genre.
The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings by J.R.R Tolkien is an obvious answer, but true. I've been reading this one since I was nine and I've genuinly lost count of how many times I've reread it.
Anything by David and Leigh Eddings. The Belgariad, The Malloreon, The Elenium, and the Tamuli. As well as their stand alones, such as The Redemption of Althalus.
The Beatrix Potter Books, also the Animal Farm books. Both childrens series, but they're quick, easy, comfort reads.
Another quick series, that's more a comfort series than high literature, is "The Wizards Apprentice" series by Debra Doyle and James D. Macdonald.
Those are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head, but I'm sure there's dozens more lining my bookshelves if I went and looked.
