TW: SPIDER UNDER THE CUT
She's home!!
She's in a temporary home while the glue on her lid dries but she already took down a cricket on Saturday after two nights to settle into her critter keeper. She's about 2 inches away from the roach heat mat so she has a personal space heater and my house is like 20% humidity so the partial towel covers are just a feature of my setups 💀
She was a little thin when I first got her but I can tell she's got a sturdy personality. Hardly cares that I came in the room and didn't budge when I opened her lid to give her a cricket but instantly grabbed it when it walked by.
I expect she'll turn into a frickin boulder before teleporting if i try a cupped transfer based on what I heard from the person who found her. So I'm going to remove the water dish and place her keeper on its side in the enclosure to do a lid on transfer because I do not deal with magicians in this house.
Her temporary house is covering all the dirt I spent 3 hours making but trust me she has plenty.
In her new 10 gallon (i know it's huge and a waste of substrate but it and the substrate were free so it's what I did) she has 6.5 inches of substrate underneath there and 4 vertical inches of above ground space to galavant in!
Getting her into a proper home has been a bit of a fiasco, but that's what happens when your first tarantula is a last minute rescue because no one else even knew what she was and when I first heard about her she was living in a dusty coffee carafe.
The ever rare tarantula tummy pic that her initial finder sent me 🥰🥰🥰
