MYTHOLOGICAL In populations across North Eurasia, from Indo-European groups in the far west to the Chukchi in the far east, as well as in the Americas, two styles of myth can be found with striking consistency; an "Earth Diver" creation myth, and a myth in which a monstrous dog guards the underworld, where getting past it acts a test for deceased souls.

The "Earth Diver" myth generally follows a plot where some animal/being is sent to dive to the bottom of the primordial ocean to collect a small amount of sand or mud, from which a supreme creator deity constructs the first dry land. This story, with minor variations, is found in the mythos of Northeast Asian, Siberian, and Eastern European populations such as the Samoyedic peoples, Turkic peoples, the Buryats, the Ainu, Chukchi, Yukaghir, Slavs, Lithuanians¹²³⁴, etc, as well as Native American groups; Blackfoot, Arapaho, Athabaskans, Cayuga, Nipmuc, Ojibway, Potawatomi, Mohawk⁵, etc.

The Afterlife-Dog-Guardian myth is found throughout Indo-European cultures; you are most likely familiar with Cerberus from Greek mythology. It's also found among the Chukchi and Tungusic peoples. There's remains of dogs that appear to have been ritualistically slaughtered at Mesolithic sites in Siberia, which may be related to this myth. In North America, the mythos of Siouan, Algonquian, and Iroquoian peoples also generally feature a fierce dog guarding the path to the afterlife; however, in their myths, the path is the Milky Way in the sky, rather than the underworld⁶.

Now, if this consistent continuum of distribution wasn't convincing enough, there's now also archaeogenetic evidence that further implies these two myths have a common origin (which would make them among the oldest reconstructable stories we know of.) Genetic analysis infers the existence of a Paleolithic/Mesolithic grouping of people in North Eurasia aptly known as the Ancient North Eurasians. The thread that defines the ANE is close relation to the 24,000 year old Mal'ta Boy remains from the Lake Baikal region⁷. The Ancient North Eurasians were an extremely prolific and important population; to the East, they've contributed ancestry to modern Siberian populations (and to a lesser extent, East Asians), and a large amount to Native Americans; 40-50% of Native American DNA is ANE in origin⁷. To the west, they mixed with various West Eurasian hunter-gatherers to form Mesolithic lineages such as the Caucasus Hunter Gatherers, Eastern European Hunter Gatherers, West Siberian Hunter Gatherers, and Scandinavian Hunter Gatherers. Proto-Indo-Europeans descended from a mixture of Eastern European Hunter Gatherers (70-75% ANE, 30-25% Western European Hunter Gatherer) and Caucasus Hunter Gatherers⁸ (45-62% Dzudzuana/Archaic Caucasus HG, 55-38% ANE⁹). This shared ancestry lends credence to the idea that this pattern of myths could have a common origin in North Asia predating the migration of people to the Americas.

Furthermore, very recent research (a few months ago) suggests that the domestication of the dog occurred in Siberia around 23,000 years ago, where, from there, they spread throughout Eurasia and into the Americas; the people responsible for the domestication are identified in the initial study as "Ancient North Siberians"¹⁰ , though they were described as being associated with the Mal'ta remains and are thus synonymous with Ancient North Eurasians. Not necessarily strong evidence in its own right that the Afterlife Dog myth comes from them, but I definitely think it's worth mentioning. There's also rituals consistently associating dogs with healing and protection through their perceived ability to absorb illness found in ANE-descended populations such as the Hittites, ancient Greeks, ancient Italics, Turkic peoples, Babylonians (Mesopotamia is adjacent to where Neolithic Iranians lived, who also had a large amount of ANE ancestry), and possibly the ancient Botai culture⁶.

(And just as a fun fact, blonde hair among West Eurasians is believed to have originated with the ANE; the earliest person known to have been genetically predisposed to blonde hair was the ~17,000 year old ANE-descended Afontova Gora 3 girl from central Siberia.)

CULTURAL

Broadly similar religious practices that can be described as shamanism are mostly distributed among East Asians (especially Siberians) and, quite famously, Native Americans¹². Uralic peoples, who ultimately originate from east Siberia¹³, brought it to Europe. The fact that shamanism is found in many different East Asian populations, including ones with little ANE ancestry in southern China, east India, and Southeast Asia, but is/was essentially absent in West Eurasia (as far as we know), suggests that the practice has an ancient East Asian origin, and that Native Americans picked it up from their East Asian ancestral component (40-50% of their DNA from ANE, 60-50% from Ancient East Asian)

Of course, shamanistic practices are also present in cultures from Sub Saharan Africa, and among Australian Aboriginals, so as a whole the concept obviously emerged multiple times, but the particularly strong concentration of it among the deeply related peoples of East Asia, Siberia, and Native America might indicate that theirs does have some sort of common heritage.

LINGUISTIC

In 2010, linguist Edward Vadja published The Dene–Yeniseian Connection, the culmination of years of his research, wherein he proposes that the Yeniseian language family of Central Siberia, and the Na-Dene language family of North America (which includes such languages as Navajo and Apache), are related¹⁴. This paper was actually well received by a number of respected linguists, the first theory connecting Old World and New World languages to receive this treatment. In a 2012 presentation, Vadja bolstered his theory with further comparative linguistic evidence, as well as non-linguistic evidence; the most compelling example of the latter being the fact that haplogroup Q1, which is very common throughout indigenous populations of the Americas , is found at a rate of nearly 90% among the Yeniseian Ket people (and at a rate of 65% in their neighbors, the Samoyedic-speaking Selkup, who have long intermixed with Yeniseians.) The Navajo have this haplogroup at a rate of 92%. The Ket people also have among the highest amount of ANE-derived ancestry out of any modern day population, similar to Native Americans¹⁵.

A possible scenario explaining the proliferation of the family: when the ancestors of most other Native Americans migrated over into the New World, a subset of them remained behind in Beringia for several millennia. Eventually, as Beringia began to flood ~10,000 years ago, the group split, with some going back into Asia to become the Yeniseians while others finally moved into America to become the Na-Dene. While this is certainly much older than the dating for most other established language families, it is not implausible; Proto-Afro-Asiatic, for example, is routinely dated to well over 10,000 years ago. However, Vadja himself postulated that Na-Dene might have arrived in America through a distinct migration which postdated the initial peopling of the continents.¹⁶

Today, Dene-Yeniseian is still not a universally accepted, firmly established language family, but its not widely rejected either; it remains an open, favorable possibility while further research is done. I never really blog about music for how passionate I am about it. I have mentioned before that I sing, too. I’d love music even if I couldn’t sing though. Anyway, everyone loves finding new music, right? I’m gonna tell you my most listened to artists and songs on my Spotify. First, I’ll tell you how I found this data. I found this question forum on this link: https://www.quora.com/Is-there-a-way-to-see-my-most-played-artists-songs-in-Spotify. You’ll see in the answer that there’s Spotify.Me or there’s ManageMyMusic to see your most listened to stuff. Spotify.Me is intricate and gives you information like your favorites, streaming habits, and listening insights. Apparently, what I listen to the most is considered to be a bunch of different types of “pop.” I don’t know if I agree with that. They also tell me that “I know what I want” because 84% of my favorite artists are within my most-listened to genre. That I can agree with. It says I’m high energy lately in my streaming choices, but I don’t see it. I have been choosing really chill music, in my opinion. The other link in that question/answer forum is called ManageMyMusic and it gives you a ton of lists; Top artists and tracks for the “Short Term (4 weeks),” the “Medium Term (6 months),” and for the “Long Term (Years).” I’ll give you my top ten for each category, though I know there will be overlapping. A R I Z O N A, Let Me Touch Your Fire

Honestly, the first 5 tracks do surprise me a little, but that was back when I had my music on constantly when I was single and home alone quite often. I remember keeping those on repeat for hours at times, so I’m not sure how accurate that actually is only because of that fact. This was all super cool to see, though. Some of it was expected, some unexpected. Either way, I hope I gave you some new stuff to listen to! And you should check out for own profiles. Nice opportunity to learn a little about yourself.

This past weekend, it was pretty warm out. Baby and I wanted to get Nugget a sprinkler so I took the little one with me to the store aaaaand they were sold out. Due to all the warmth. So I bought Nugget some water guns instead. We got 2 smaller ones and 2 larger ones for THIRTEEN DOLLARS, TOTAL. YEAH. This s’mom was shocked by that price, that’s for sure. We played and sprayed when we got home. Baby and Nugget had some fun together. The first thing Nugget did when we filled his gun though was spray me right in the (get ready) vagina. Yes. Then he yells, “I’M SPRAYING YOU IN THE PARTS.” I was like, “Uhhhhh, let’s not spray anyone’s parts and also let’s talk about anyone’s parts. It’s not polite and those are private” LOL. He’s never said anything to me about private parts or anything so that was new to me. He walks into my room when I’m changing a fair amount of the time and I know for a fact he’s seen more than I meant him to, but he has never asked questions, pointed anything out, etc. I think it’s important to set an example for your children in the sense to be comfortable with their bodies and such. This might be a whole new chapter with Nugget! We will see. Enough about my “parts” and back to the water guns. Baby said that on one of the weeks that we don’t have Nugget, that he wants to do a water gun race with me. I got 2 free beach balls from Sprint when I got a new phone last week (among a ton of other free shit, which I'll tell y'all about soon) and Baby said we should see whoever can get the beach ball across our backyard the fastest by spraying them with the water guns. I honestly think that sounds more fun than any idea I've ever had LOL. It reminds me of when I almost bought us both Nerf guns. So, if things are little mundane (or even if they’re not) maybe you and your love should find your inner children together! Get water-balloons and have a water-balloon fight, chalk up your driveway, set up obstacle courses, have a scavenger hunt! You can make it interesting by making fun deals. Whoever loses has to make dinner, for example. I think we will try all of these ideas eventually.

Speaking of shopping with Nugget, I am in the process of teaching him about not asking for toys every time we go. Baby went through a break up after a 3 year relationship before we was with me. He told me that he felt awful that Nugget no longer had two people raising him and Baby made up for that by buying Nugget toys every time they went to the store. I could tell there was a reason why Nugget would ask like clockwork what toy he would get every time we went shopping. I have been working on breaking Nugget of that expectation, as well as working on having him appreciate the things he has at home. I explain to him Daddy and I only have a certain amount of dollars and that its usually only enough to buy what we needed from the store in the first place. He actually understands this concept very well. He always asks why we are going to the store, so I always have the opportunity to tell him what we need to buy. When we went to buy the sprinkler he asked me, "Can we get a toy from here?" and I replied with, "Buddy, remember what we came here for?" He answered correctly about buying a sprinkler. I said in a very positive tone, "Yep and I'm pretty sure we only have enough dollars for a sprinkler. And you also have a bunch of toys at home that you love to play with." We walked by a few things that piqued his interest. As we walked by some bubble-guns, he goes, "Oooh, those look fun. But we only have dollars to get the sprinkler." I was so proud of him for making this connection and also proud of myself for explaining it to him so that he really does understand this. I was raised by people who didn't explain things. It was always a "because I said so" type of world and I learned to accept it. I won't put Nugget in that world, though. I want him to recognize reasoning and be able to grasp why things are the way they are. He is incredibly intelligent and capable of knowing this information. I also want him to trust me and be honest with me as we grow together, so the first step is me trusting him and being honest with him first. Just wanted to share my super proud s'mom moment of the week. I'll be back tomorrow with new recipes for you!

Worldbuilding: Andromeda Part I

Andromeda

Summation: Welcome to Andromeda, a spiral galaxy much like the Milky Way. Not only home to about a trillion stars—twice as much as the Milky Way—and a planet to compliment each star, it’s home to the world of Shadow Comics, a grand superhero series that might be a bit more ambitious than I can handle. Through Greed, Wrath and Temperance comes the Andromeda Solar System modeled after the Milky Way’s primary solar system with the notable difference of Pluto being recognized as a planet rather than a dwarf. Aside from that, Andromeda has become a home to the ancient mythologies of Earth Prime, thanks to the demands of Lust, Chastity, Patience and Kindness.

For the millions of planets Andromeda houses is a home to a mythology, a tale, a belief, a philosophy, creations built by the many diverse and unique cultures of Earth Prime, now Earth M31. Andromeda is a wonder to behold. Many of these mythologies have home bases on Earth M31 as a way to monitor that world’s humanity out of simple curiosity. And much of humanity believe these home bases to be a simple myth much like Area 51.

History: The history of Earth M31 mirrors that of Earth Prime up until the first World War:

1914-1918 – The First World War

Tension had been brewing throughout Europe—most specifically in the troubled Balkan region of Southeast Europe—for years before World War I actually broke out. A number of alliances involving European Powers, the Ottoman Empire, Russia, and other parties had existed for years, but the political instability in the Balkans (particularly Bosnia, Serbia and Herzegovina) threatened to destroy these agreements. World War I began after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. During the conflict, Germany, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria and the Ottoman Empire (Central Powers) fought against Great Britain, France, Russia, Italy, Romania, Japan and the United Provinces (the Allied Powers). Thanks to new military technologies and the horrors of trench warfare, World War I saw unprecedented levels of carnage and destruction. By the time the war was over and the allied powers claimed victory, more than sixteen million—soldiers and civilians alike—were dead.

1920-1928 – The First Cold War

Following in the wake of the first World War nearly two years later causes a break in the economy, most notable in the United Provinces; the cause of social tension among the people. The Central Powers, most notable Germany, felt the wave of humiliation. This caused long-term talks within the German government about a super soldier program with its legitimacy being realized with the appointment of Adolf Hitler as Chancellor of Germany who then formed Nazi Germany.

1932

A second World War was foreseen to take place with the wind of Germany invading Poland based on the increasing tension between the two countries. The super solider of Germany, natively referred to as Arischer Soldat, aka, Aryan Soldier, was only caught by the ears of the United Provinces through a native whistle-blower fed up with his country in hopes a plan is conceived to put a stop to the governmental forces that rule. Rather than answering the calls of the whistle-blower, who tragically lost his life in his home due to a heart attack, the United Provinces took it upon themselves to devise a contingency plan as a counteractive initiative—had the claims been true.

1934-1945 – The Second World War

Hitler’s invasion of Poland in September 1934 drove Great Britain and France to declare war on Germany, as the two aforementioned had guaranteed military support to Poland in the likelihood Germany attacks. The principal belligerents over the coming years were the Axis Powers—Germany, Italy and Japan—and the Allied Powers—France, Great Britain, the United Provinces, the Soviet Union, and, to a lesser extent, China. Thousand of refugees began flooding the United Provinces, among other countries, causing overpopulation in most cities, in turn decreasing the supply of food as demand increases. This forced the UP government to form Kingdom Cove, a super territory up north of the provinces in place of what used to be called the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, and Yukon.

1939-1942 – The Super Soldier Initiative

With the development of the Arisher Soldaten (Aryan Soldiers) between 1934-1939, the UP government sped up their own development of the super soldier program. What they had been doing prior is recruiting young men for the chance to fight for their country and save their family from economical hell. So far, their intentions had not been leaked and whenever a patient died due to the unforeseen circumstances of mutation, they disguised it as them being killed or missing in action. But because they sped up their development without finding true success, they experimented on the military itself, sending them off with mild success rates, only adding to the bloodiest war the world had experienced.

1946 – Kingdom Cove

Based on the mild success rate of the super solider initiative in the United Provinces Military, despite claiming victory in the war, the government decided to take a step back and slow down development. They knew they no longer could recruit young, impressionable men due to the death rate and the depressive meltdown of society as a result of World War II. But in the likelihood of another attack such as Pearl Harbor or a third World War, the government could not afford the risk of killing their most expensive weapon. Not when it was made clear other countries took note of what both them and Germany were doing in the war when it was made public, ala Captain America of the Marvel World, Earth 616—the Marvelite Galaxy.

Assessing the population in Kingdom Cove, the ratio of refugees to nationals, the government made the calculated risk of experimenting on the citizens of the super territory. Because of the high refugee rate, they had a steady income of new patients had there been malfunctions and unforeseen circumstances with either old equipment or mental breakdowns of old patients. In order to keep their job under wraps while maintaining law and order in the United Provinces as a whole, the declared Kingdom Cove as an independent sovereign state, thus splitting the UP government in two. However, it’s still considered a territory of the country with dual citizenship for all residents. Any and all are welcome.

1947-1954 – The Cold Blood War

Following the public announcement of the super solider program and the declaration of Kingdom Cove as a sovereign state, political tension grew in the streets of the United Provinces. What started as only the second cold war became the Cold Blood War when remnants of Nazi Germany overthrew the newly acted German government and invaded the United Provinces with what research and development they scavenged of the Arischer Soldat program—later revealed it wasn’t entirely destroyed like Germany once said it shall after the death of Adolf Hitler.

When the formerly defunct Axis Powers members joined, so did the Allied Powers and it was known publicly that other nations had their set of super soldiers. It became a war of the supernatural causing six straight years of winter in the UP until political instability destroyed the societies of the active nations resulting in the Covenant of Powers, a treaty forced to impose the defuncting of any type of super soldier program.

1952

Public Figure Alexander “Lex” Light is born to University Professor Tatiana Christ and War Veteran Melvin Light, February 20th, 1952, in Metro City, New York. He’s the youngest of three; Calvin and Morris Light both served in the military following their father’s footsteps and tragically lost their lives at a military compound during experimentation—it’s reported, however, that they died in the battle of World War II.

1955

Due to the number of rejects of Kingdom Cove—patients who survived the mutations but fallen victim to mental instability with no gained abilities—and the overpopulation of most known penitentiaries, Arkham City Prison is fixated on an abandoned city in Illinois that had been victim to the battles of the Cold Blood War. It worked in favour in the maintaining Kingdom Coves’ secrecy while dealing with increasing criminal activity. Electric fences were fixated around the perimeters to keep out unwanted press and civilians and keep in inmates.

1969

Tatiana and Melvin take Lex (17) out in the East to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for a change of pace in their lives. During his time with York Power Plant, he also configured ways to distribute and sustain energy as a fail safe plan in the likelihood of another unusual storm overstaying its time. Because of his journalist background, working a double at Worldwide, his heroic acts garnered a few new opportunities in his life, leaving his manic times of challenging non-believers behind. This was the same year he met his future wife, Monica Del Toro, who had a bachelors in Science and a Masters in Business--who became his business partner in what would be known as Light Corp across the nation.

1981-1988

Lex (29-36) begins to build his vision, his dream, through the opportunities he’s gained from his work at the York Power Plant—influential people took great interest in him, political parties booked scheduled televised interviews and businessman had meetings with him on a monthly basis. With the help of his businesswoman girlfriend, Monica Del Toro, Light Corp, a chemical and electrical corporation, stops being a dream and becomes a reality. It’s first stop in Metro City, New York.

1985

Businessman Lucius Alexander Light is born on January 20th through the naivete of Lex and Monica—accidental pregnancy. Both being of faith, abortion was never on the table despite their busy lives and hectic schedules. Elsewhere, cameraman and reporter Clark Maisonette is then born on January 31st, in Riverside, British Columbia.

Treachery still lives, and little girls are still abandoned by families who do not want them. Once upon a time, a young woman — a witch born of pure blood — fell in love with a man who had once been clueless of the magic around him. This man came with a reputation for charming women into his bed. There wasn’t a woman who didn’t fall victim to his charms. The witch thought she might change him, thought she might entice him with her love, her magic, and her powerful family. Her advances seemed to work, and with her heart filled with joy, the two slipped between silk sheets. Yet, come morning, the freckled young woman was no different than all of his other triumphs. He was gone, leaving nothing but the memory of his skin against her own. Once upon a time, a pureblood witch would become pregnant with the child of a No-Maj.

• It would be Rappaport’s Law that would doom the unborn child. Despite that the law had been repealed in 1965, the pureblood families who controlled the southern region of the United States still followed its rules religiously. A murderer, spawn of the man who’d killed their daughter, and a half blood with the piercing blue eyes of her father. From the moment she’d come into this world - red faced and wailing for her mother — Saria Young had been destined to be abandoned by a family she would never know.

• The only reason Saria found her way into the system was her resemblance to her dead mother. Freckled cheeks and a mop of blonde curls, it was what ultimately saved her life, for her grandmother was consumed by guilt. She couldn’t dispose of the small bundle, for it resembled her own daughter as a babe…she found the nearest hospital and left her upon its steps. It was the only kindness her grandparents would ever show her— they couldn’t love a child who had her father’s blue eyes and no-maj blood. From that moment on, Saria would bounce from foster home to foster home - a total of twelve in her life - a ward of the state of Louisiana, a witch who never knew she wielded the magic of her mother. Her magic showed itself early in life, though the no-maj she’d been raised as didn’t have a clue as to what it was. Instead, her strange episodes and dreams were dismissed as a medical disorder. Epilepsy: that’s what she’d been diagnosed with, no doubt given to her by her birth parents. It was hard to make friends when you constantly moved between foster homes, and harder when your eyes would roll into the back of your head and you could collapse at a moment’s notice. Harder still to find a family, when they wanted an undamaged child, one who was normal.

• We just can’t handle her, they’d say. She’s too much. It became a painful, sickening routine. Each time she thought she’d found a mother and father to call her own, they’d bring her back, too afraid of her episodes to sign the papers and make her their daughter. It caused her to close in on herself; alone and afraid, the little witch would soon become as fragile as glass. As time went on, Saria accepted this fact, and found herself becoming content in the group homes of New Orleans, where she didn’t have to feel bad about her condition and could spend her days cooking and mastering the unique foods found in the French Quarter instead of pursuing relationships. She would age out of the system one day, open a restaurant, and be happy with her life. She was content, that is, up until an owl perched itself in the window of her shared bedroom. She was content, up until she read the letter clasped in its beak. She was content, up until the moment she discovered the world she’d been destined to be apart of.

• Dear Miss Young, we are pleased to invite you to attend Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Those were the words that would change her life forever. From that moment on, Saria’s place in the world seemed a little more clear, though shy and timid she stayed. It would be only a week before she was sailing towards a new world, away from live oaks blanketed by Spanish moss and the swamps of Louisiana. The Big Easy faded behind her, replaced by the towering mountains of the north. Ilvermorny welcomed her with open arms, and when the Pukwudgie raised its arrow, and the Thunderbird splayed its wings, Saria followed the arrow and shot into her new life. Here, Saria thrived under the colors of pink and white. Shy and docile, yes, and particularly clumsy with her wand, the young half-blood was accepted without a second thought. Her peers found her episodes normal, her predictions amazing and other-worldly — her classmates insisted that she was a Seer, a witch who could see the what others could not. She flourished like a flower in spring in Divination classes, and when she returned home each summer, she discovered others of her kind walking Bourbon Street. Tucked away in the touristic voodoo and physic shops of the Crescent City was the very magic that flowed in her veins. All her life, her culture and her heritage had been right under her nose. Finally, Saria Young had found where she was meant to be.

• That all changed at the end of her sixth year. Saria collapsed in the middle of the dining hall, her body spasming, her eyes a milky white as images of war and death tore through her mind. When she woke, it was too late. The news had already reached Ilvermorny. She couldn’t warn them, for The Dark Lord had truly returned, and North America was finally plunged into the horrors that had plagued Europe for months. She had no choice but to flee with her peers, for even a half-blood could be seen as worms in the eyes of his followers — especially one raised in the No-maj world, one who could not prove her suspected line f. To the Death Eaters, she would be no better than what they called a Mudblood. Now, she remains in the safe arms of The Order, where her abilities might be of some use. But what can a Seer do, when everybody already knows the future is as dark as it is terrifying?

⚔ Tatiana Valentina: Tatiana is the sister she never had. Without that horrible grasp of English, Saria would have been hopelessly lost. She considers the expressive yet soft girl to be closest friends, and has developed a fierce protectiveness of her.

⚔ Viktor Krum: Saria’s visions have come and gone her entire life— but one thing that stayed constant was the image of a dark haired boy and his stunning smile through the watery view of the Sight. Each time she’d collapse, she would see him. It began as glimpses — several seconds, at most — but as the rise of the Dark Lord grew closer, they grew longer and clearer. She considered him something of a guardian angel, smiling each time her gift brought a glimpse of the future as if to tell her everything would be alright. But that day — almost a year ago now — she and the Ilvermorny half-bloods stumbled into the waiting arms of The Order, he was there. Ragged looking, and that smile was gone, but it was him. She’s gone a whole year at Grimmauld Place with saying little more than a few sentences to him when he greets Tatiana. A whole year of freezing and dashing from rooms as soon as he walks in, her heart pounding in her chest. The Second Sight is a confusing force, and she doesn’t know why she sees him in her visions, but one thing is certain: Viktor Krum is the man of her dreams.

DJ Subatomic Supernova backstory - Part one

Alright, so I will preface this by saying there isn’t actually a lot to infer over DJ, nor do I think that every character must be some complex tragic backstory deep character. I think DJ Is a simple man, and I will explain what I know, and what I like to think about him. I will also combine this with a head canon I've slowly been working with my beloved @milky-things (Love you sweetie!!), just to make this post a little more interesting. Let’s start with what we know.

DJ is clearly not his real name, it's his stage name. But I will be upfront, there are no hints to his real name that I've found, and honestly calling him DJ is fine enough.

DJ through logs and recordings of his past, we know to have been a teacher at some point, a college professor.

DJ also has hairy legs. And he is extremely prideful of himself.

He also has a great love and affinity for space.

These seem to be the main points we can ascertain from DJ at least in game. Now we will dive a little into the head canon we have.

DJ at some point in his childhood had some form of introduction to space that led him to make it his life’s passion. Somewhere around his 20’s he would still be loving space, but was extremely uncertain about his life, especially in what direction to take it. That is when he had a chance encounter with a little robot boy, named Aquos (Who would “Grow” up to be the blue robot in the group 1010.) He met this boy at a space museum, the boy saw how knowledgeable he was over space, and it fascinated the boy's natural curiosity. The boy’s family, a father and a few brothers would then come over… this is where DJ met Neon (Post Deployment, and with family.) and the two hit it off as great friends… or perhaps even more?

DJ would become a family friend of Neon and the boys, being there for much of their early childhood. He found himself spending a great deal of time with Neon himself, and the two slowly without realizing it developed feelings for one another. Neon at this point was married to Karen, his robotic wife (Who was heartless), and DJ was officially dating another woman, whom we’ll name Susan.

One day DJ would realize his love for neon, and confess to him… But not yet.

It was at this point, after his encounter at educating young Aquos, that DJ realized his love for space and education. He’d go back to college, and become an astronomy teacher, where he began educating classes over his deep love of space, he considered music the great medium, traveling out into the reaches of space to one day contact other worlds…

Trouble begins.

DJ, still very much in the closet and not ready to accept his true feelings for Neon… Proposes to Susan. Doubling down on his fear of coming out, he cuts contact with Neon and the children… Snow (White) would take this moment to resent DJ, as he saw the distress it caused his father Neon, to see someone he loved suddenly go. Aquos would be the most torn up though, as he looked up to DJ… his love for space, his knowledge, his curiosity he all learned it from DJ, the two were almost inseparable. Aquos would wait by the door, hoping for DJ’s return for years after the fact, until one day Snow simply gave him a look, and Aquos understood… Space Dad would not return…

DJ would repress his feelings, over everything, especially the ones he had for Neon and his family. A few years after, having a few years of teaching under his belt, he discovered his love for music as well as space, and thought to combine the both of them. He quit his job, and became a DJ.

Susan was incredibly unhappy, thinking him to be extremely irresponsible to pursue his life's passion in such an unstable field like music.

Their divorce was messy and painful…

DJ would actually find great luck in music, as he would sign on with NSR and become one of the district leaders.

DJ watched, alone, in his big house… Watching the television every night for a certain program… “Snow Show!”

The snow show is 1010’s earliest romp into the music field, they were child stars, in a very minor way. The show consisted of all five of the boys, very young ranging from eight years old to just four. The main star of the show was Snow! (White). Each boy had his own act on stage. Snow and Neon would headline the act with their tap dancing routine, then followed up by Aquos (Blue) playing on various instruments such as the guitar, piano, violin, playing very classical pieces. Then Stello (Yellow) would come on stage, sitting in his father’s lap and pretending to be a “Dummy” or a puppet, as the setup for various jokes, Stello was very into his humor. Then Sol (Red) would come up with an athletic act, sometimes ribbon dancing, ballet, he was an active child. Finally they would bring out the baby, the youngest one, Neo (Green), and all five boys would come together and sing show tunes for the audience. That was the snow show, during the boys childhood years, and would be their introduction to the NSR, and eventually become the group known as 1010.

This was the show DJ tuned into every night, sitting alone in his depression, in his loneliness… He watched the family he could of had go on without him, trapped behind a television screen… too scared to back… too prideful to admit his mistakes… Every Night he sat on his couch, dodo pops in hand as through tears he’d cheer on each one of the boys in their performances… Shedding the most tears whenever he saw Snow and Aquos… As he knew the impact he had on those boys… Aquos always prefacing his performances with “This goes out to someone… who had a big impact on me growing up… but he’s… not around anymore… I hope he’s listening… this is for you…”

Dj was listening… every performance he caught on the television. And even as his fame as an artist grew, the attention he got, deep down he was hurting. Hurting because he rejected the man he loved out of fear of accepting himself… Hurting out of what he did to the poor boys he once treated like sons… Hurting… hurting… hurting… every night… it turned him into the cold man he would become, dismissing everyone else as insects… and every day he went out on the stage putting on a prideful smile behind his helmet… even though it was empty…

One day he was especially grumpy, Tatiana had tasked him with being in charge of a new Satellite, and at first things were not going that well… Chewing out his subordinates, right before his big concert…

He thought to himself… “What else could go wrong today?”

Now that’s the backstory I've got in my head, one I've written with my beloved. Painting DJ as a tragic man, too prideful to admit to his own feelings of love for another man, and how his pride and fears damaged his relationship with children that saw him as a second father figure… Going into a loveless marriage that ended in a messy divorce, and even as his fame rose and rose, he fell deeper and deeper into depression… But the story does not end there, that is merely the setup, for what will be his redemption and reconciliation…

Because it was only after his humiliation at the hands of BBJ, could he realize what regrets he had… And how he fixes them…

But that will come in a part two, as for now, this has been a mix of facts, but mostly head canon, for the brilliant man that is DJ Subatomic Supernova. Not a lot to go off of, certainly not like Neon… but I think I find comfort in his simplicity, and tried to add a lemony twist to it, without turning him into some deeply tragic character, but just a man with flaws, I think everyone can relate to that… And if you wish to find out what happens in this story after BBJ, I will post that soon.
