Hollowed Minds Progress Update 5/08/23

Hi! I know I failed at making a progress update last month, so first of all, apologies for that! Things have just been busy tbh and life has been too stressful that at some points I just couldn't write. It's why I've been a bit inactive here as well, and why I've been barely answering the asks I've been receiving.

I cannot report yet how many words I've written for the update so far because I haven't really taken a look at it myself, but I will do so at the end of the month if there's still no confirmed schedule by then. My eye health has just been very consistent at making my life harder as well until recently, and here's hoping I'll at least be able to function properly for a whole month🤞

Some things that will be in the next update:

For Chapter 2's Part 2:

Everything still goes as planned, except now both routes are expected to be fast-paced and action-oriented, though one is still more intense than the other.

This will be a massive one, not because of the word count but because of the variations that will play out. There won't be much issues in arranging the transitions to Chapter 3, so there's at least that, but your choices will matter a lot. So you might have to be careful with them.

One of the routes gets Alonzo actively involved, but please be assured that this doesn't mean you have to romance them. I actually encourage you all to check out both routes once they come because you'll gain more discoveries that way. 👀

Alonzo's route will be so memeworthy, I have to admit. Please try it.

There's an info dump in Chapter 2's Part 1 that I'm not really a fan of, so I'll be moving some of those to this part instead if needed.

For the overall IF:

Alex will now have a set skin tone if a lighter one is chosen for the Ripper. I will discuss this in detail soon, but I just wanted to emphasize that Alex and Ripper's mother are canonically PoC.

You will have options for your Ripper to wear contacts or glasses (or neither ofc).

You'll be able to bring a weapon with you in Chapter 2 depending on your choices so far.

You might remember a section of Chapter 1 where you can choose what your Ripper had been doing for the duration of the five months. I might reduce it to a few, just so I could have them properly recognized in the story.

There will be a couple of changes in the character descriptions in the game's stats page, with plans to make them shorter, too, for easier readability.

I will make sure you'll have saves at the end of this. So please don't be surprised if there'll be more page breaks in the future, as well as more choices (that are still as meaningful.)

In connection to above, I also plan to make the in-game descriptions snappier and easier to read while still maintaining the quality they should have. Your feedback will be very important for this, and this also applies to the beta testers (sorry I've been so silent. I swear I'll get back to you all soon lmao)

Not really too related here, but I also plan to be more consistent with my updates in the future. It's just that my irl schedule is still a huge mess, and it's very hard to be consistent when that happens.

Just a last piece of my mind. Some anons have been very aggressive with harassment the past few months, and I really have no interest for more drama right now. So if you have issues, if you think you can back your own words, send them through a DM or at least turn off anon so we could have a proper conversation.

It's honestly tiring. Being an Asian in this community can already be so tiring, so I am begging people to be mature and responsible with their words. After all, I've repeatedly said that you can always come to me with your concerns or whatever you have against me. As long as we can actually talk about it.

He'd have had the rare opportunity to 'start over' when he's send away from HI, maybe he took the chance to transition? On the other hand, trans folks were banned from the military back then and we all know how the Navy made Steve the man he is. What path d'you think he could have taken if he was trans? TW: for general discussion of dysphoria, this gets pretty heavy emotionally. And also personal, lmao.

I have spent a lot of time thinking about trans!Steve, and what I think a transgender narrative for him would look like. And this is any flavor of trans tbh, be that telling the story of Stephanie McGarrett, Steven McGarrett, Stef McGarrett, etc.  

For all intents and purposes, Steve was raised by the navy. It’s a very intrinsic part of his character. For me it’s up there w/ Danny being from New Jersey. You can’t not make Danny a Jersey boy, just like you can’t not make Steve a SEAL. I’ve spoken a little bit about this being why I find it difficult to put Steve into different careers here, and I think it applies to this as well.

And you’re right re: being trans in the US military. There’s a long and complicated history of it either being banned or restricted, and it technically only became ‘legal’ in 2021. Even if I wrote a trans!Steve as a modern au like trans!Danno is, he would be unable to be out of the closet and be in the Navy. I don't think he'd be able to cheat his way in either, that's a pretty big To Do.

I do think he’d still have joined the navy, even if he was trans. I think he’d just have been in the closet about it. And it’s for this reason that imho trans!Steve would be one of those people who doesn’t come out and transition until they’re in their 40s or something. It would be the story of DEADNAME McGarrett going to Annapolis, becoming a SEAL, being the Navy’s Finest, Creating Five-0 and then much later, deciding to come out. Like post season 10 timeline coming out, I think.

Because Steve keeps a lot of his feelings crammed up inside his head and heart, and he stews over stuff, and he’s not emotionally open. He just isn’t. The Military Fucked Steve Up. John McGarrett, whether he meant to or not, Fucked Steve Up. All of the other shit's that's happened, has Fucked Steve Up. Steve opens up more over the progression of the show, especially w/ Danny, but he’s still an emotionally constipated nutcase in many ways.

Is this a story I’d ever write? No. There are a few reasons for that, and the main ones stem from my own Gender Experience™ and shit. It’s the same reason why Trans!Danno takes place when Danny’s in his 30s and has pretty much already transitioned socially/medically/etc. The story of Danny’s coming out and transition is glossed over, because if I delve into the depression and dysphoria aspect too deeply, I’m gonna start drinking too much again. Being closeted sucks, dysphoria sucks, the internalized self-loathing and shame sucks, and it is euheuheuheuheuheuh DEEPLY triggering for me.

Trans!Danno takes place after most, if not all of that, for Danny. Danny’s got the surgeries he wanted, he’s on T, he looks in the mirror and likes what he sees, he’s doing GREAT. Does he still have issues and insecurities? Well yes, because he’s human. But I am uninterested in writing about the emotionally darker and more upsetting aspects of trying to come out and transition, because I do this for fun and I don’t wanna bum myself out.

The story of Steve/Stephanie/Stef McGarrett, coming out and transitioning at the age of like 45/50 would be deeply sad in many ways. It’d be steeped in internalized transphobia, self-loathing, dysphoria, etc. Especially when you take into consideration Steve’s character and how he Deals with things emotionally. It’d also be a story of joy, of self-actualization, and all those other good things.

Are those stories meaningful and important? Absolutely. Would I personally write it? No. Because the journey to get to that joy would trigger the shit out of me. Is that everyone’s gender experience? Also no, but it’s mine and that’s the lens I’m approaching stuff from.

Hi! Have you seen the Diabolik 2? I'd love to know what you thought <3

yes, i have!!! back in december i went to the cinema with mom to watch it, because it's our thing and honestly it's wasn't too bad. the thing about diabolik movies is that they have to walk this line between being true to the source while not looking dumb and to me both movies managed to find that sweet spot in between.

they're silly if you take them at face value, but if you apply your comic book filter on them then they're really good!

the actors too are lovely, there's this quality to their acting that i enjoy. where they do it seriously 99% of the time, because for the characters that's their reality (this comic book-like world and life, the noir vibes, the burglaries, the plan within the plan within the plan, the over the top everything) but you get that leftover 1% every once in a while with a bit of tongue in cheek acting that ties everything up very well.

i read some reviews a while back that were very critical of the dialogue, "no one talks like this" and like..... yeah. no one in real life, but that's literally how they speak in the comics! word for word, vibe for vibe.

diabolik and eva especially are so so extra, they talk to and about each other like the other has put the moon and stars in the sky. they WILL stop in the middle of a heist to praise each other and god knows they'll delay their escape to declare their undying love for each other for the nth time. most diabolik issues WILL end with them passionately making out. and this doesn't have anything to do with the movie(s) specifically but just to give you an idea of how okay i personally was with the way they handled the dialogue (which again was one of the biggest criticism i read against both movies)

as for the plot in general, we had it figured out before the first act was even done lmao this is praise btw! it was, again, very in line with any given diabolik comic. it COULD very well be one, though i can't think of any specific issue rn (unlike the first movie were some scenes i recognized immediately, even with how they adapted it for the screen!) it's likely they squished together a few tbh diabolik comics are quite short

there's some stuff that was boring for me too, but even that was done in a very diabolik-esque manner so i won't even complain.

overall, i think if someone's not into this kind of movie they won't particularly enjoy it. as a diabolik movie? four out of five stars, would recommend <3

I didn't necessarily rate these the highest (like, there's a book that I rated a 4.5 while some of these are a 4 lol but still) but I'm rating this in terms of how much I enjoyed it at the time and think about it afterwards, bc there's some top notch books that I just immediately stopped thinking about lol. Also ignoring anything I reread like Percy Jackson

As Good as Dead by Holly Jackson. You specifically know how much I LOVE the AGGTM series, and man what a conclusion to the trilogy this was. Thank you again for introducing me to this series and making me sick in the head lmao

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. I linked the ultimate guide since it's what I read but I'm specifically talking about the first book in the series. I ADORED this book and I'll probably reread it again at some point. It's my ideal comedic book - probably my ideal sci-fi book too tbh lmao

Wrong Place, Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister. I thought this premise was SO unique and was worried it would end up being a disappointment (especially because as much as I love thrillers, they end up middling for me lol) but I thought this was amazing and fun, and a really unique premise for a thriller!

My Murder by Katie Williams. Again, another really unique concept for a book, of a serial killer's victim who ends up getting brought back to life by the government. It's not a thriller but I think it was marketed as one which is weird? It's a slower-paced book with a bit of mystery and sci-fi. And I fucking loved it lmao.

The Labors of Hercules Beal by Gary D. Schmidt. I was between a few books for this last slot (like Drowning or The Westing Game) but this book was such a great time for me. A middle school read but one that still was enjoyable to me as an adult and had a lot of heart to it.

13. What were your least favorite books of the year? Blegh quite a lot. I love thrillers but I feel like the thrillers I read this year started off strong for me and then tried having plot twists out of fucking nowhere for the sake of a twist. Same mindset about what counts as my least favorite applies as above, but asdfjkl inversed lol:

The Burnout by Sophie Kinsella. I'm ngl, I think it's largely based on how the main's lack of interest in sex was portrayed - without it I think this book would have probably been like, a 3.5 or something. I just didn't love how it was portrayed as her being broken or weird or abnormal - had the book acknowledged that this was something abnormal /for her/ that would have been perfectly fine, but it seemed to be in the sense that "not wanting sex = strange and weird" which just really left a bad taste in my mouth.

The Stepson by Diane Saxon. Some of the worst writing I've ever read imo

The Coworker by Freida McFadden. Just didn't hold me. I thought it was kind of simplistic and the characters were unlikeable, which would be fine if they were fun to read but they weren't lmao

In My Dreams I Hold a Knife by Ashley Winstead: I'm just gonna put the first part of my review in why I didn't love this: "I kind of feel like this book just kept on going. And going. And going. It was just a lot of “so this is why YOU killed Heather” at the end of each chapters."

Perfectly Nice Neighbors by Kia Abdullah. I fully acknowledge that this one probably doesn't deserve to be here, and the fact that it produced such a visceral reaction is probably a compliment? But I hated how I got so attached to characters only for the ending to just. Suck for everyone lmao. Had I known it going into the story I think I would have been okay because I would have mentally prepared myself but it just didn't work for me. I also still think the final plot twist just wasn't great; it felt like a twist for the sake of a twist. Had the ending been different I could have excused that, because I was really invested in this book up until the final act, but it made it so that a book that I was ready to give a 5/5 ended up being rated here lmaooo

Plot is on hold for now cause oh wow is something wrong with balancing

I don't know if it's supposed to be like that or if I did smth wrong and fucked myself. But.

I reached rank 40, right. My team is currently lumine, kaeya, bei dou and xiangling (this one's a changeable slot tbh, depending). They're my most leveled up charas, with lumine at lvl 70 and the rest at lvl 60. Xiangling is currently the only one who's ready to lvl up further. She's ascended? Not sure about the English term

Anyway. The rest aren't. But. Genshin for some reason decided that life's too good for me so now all bosses (hypostasis and orchids for example) and all mobs are like lvl 69 (hehe) or lvl 72 or some shit. It's a bloodbath. I need to farm shit to ascend them characters but every single one takes like half an hour and an unholy amount of food and it's like. Every single random encounter lasts forever and my daily tasks are fucking brutal (I had to right now defeat four fatui bitches who all are like ten levels above my own or right on the level what the fuckkkkk)

And the thing is. My cousins play as well and one of them has been playing for awhile and her rank and world level is higher (hers is five mine is three) and she was apalled at how hard it was lmao. Now my only choice is to go and farm shit with other people in their worlds but ooh boy

Like it's probably normal, to keep it interesting and it is. But holy shit lvling up is becoming a pain in the ass

it sounds like your game's bugged if it's showing you your world level is three (i don't think we can go lower than level four after the second ascension quest) and the level your enemies are at looks more like world level five (where i'm at rn <- 45 with sooo much extra xp... Waiting for wanderer tho before ascending). i don't know if there's a way to ask support for help? because it really doesn't sound right

right now im using all my daily resin to do ley lines so i can get xp books, there's so many required to bring characters up to world level five appropriate levels. I don't even wanna think about how long it's gonna take to also get all the mob drops necessary 😭

also for your team, i use xingqiu (if you have him) to apply hydro so kaeya can freeze the enemies, and when his e and burst disappear, your active character will heal a certain % of xingqiu's maximum hp. i like to use that to give my characters to some extra breathing room during fighting overworld without having to bring a healer (like when you get to sumeru, an archer is really important so i have to switch out bennett quite frequently there)

the half an hour struggle reminds me of when i was fighting that g-d forsaken primovishap and i had nawt ascended any shielder but xinyan and her cool down takes forever, so i was just sniping using amber and doing like... 180 per shot. it was so embarrassing despite it happening on single player 😭

🌟 I’m fairly certain that it’s widely accepted in the fandom that Jay’s a good cook.

I would imagine that he had to pick up the skill fairly early given the state of his childhood prior to the adoption.

Aside from having to feed himself, he also had to keep his ma fed, and dammit just because times were hard that didn’t mean that they couldn’t have small comforts.

He learned how to do the best he could with what little they had, and honestly? It was pretty damn good.

Between the errands that he ran for various folks in the neighborhood and his ahem—five-finger discount—he was usually able to put together an honest to goodness balanced meal at least once a week.

Grant it, a lot of it came out of boxes, bags, and cans, but a vegetable is a vegetable at the end of the day, right?

🌟 Once he moved into the Manor his skills only improved, what with having Alfie’s immense talent to glean from.

Definitely the type to be craving something at two in the am and make that shit regardless of how intricate it is. I mean, if he wants a rack of lamb and he’s got the means to make it then why the fuck not?

Though he’ll never admit to it aloud (unless he’s feeling especially soft), being the provider he is he’s always wanted to be able to give his family all the home cooked meals he never got, and he wants them to be good.

To that end he made sure to learn all that Alfred/Food Network/YT/dozens upon dozens of cookbooks had to teach him. If he doesn’t know how to make something just give him a few days and access to a recipe and I guaran-damn-tee you that he’ll have it mastered by the end of it all.

🌟 All that said, baking is probably his least favorite way to cook, meat-based dishes notwithstanding.

This mostly applies to desserts, tho a lot of breads are also on his side-eye list lol. And he hates most casseroles too, if he’s being completely honest. He finds them to be a bit too heavy/rich for his liking. But anyways…

🌟 In his opinion baked desserts are either too involved or not challenging enough.

For example: basic cookies/pies/cakes? Yeah, those are all delicious, but boring as hell to make.

But on the other hand if you make something a bit fancier like, say, ladyfingers, that takes way more precision than what he wants to put in tbh. And then you got shit like puff pastries where you gotta keep folding and freezing it and shit all just to get the right texture? Yeah—no.

And don’t even get him started on the decorating aspects. The intensity that he puts into gift wrapping manifests itself here too and honestly he doesn’t want to put himself through that esp. given the fact that he knows he’s not exactly the best at it.

I know this all sounds like it contradicts what I wrote above, but some people are just like that. They’ll make a whole ass seven course meal without batting an eye, but ask them what’s for dessert and they’ll tell you to go fuck yourself lmao.

🌟 Christmas, and more importantly you, are the exception to the rule, however.

If his doll wants to bake up some cookies then that’s damn well what the pair of you are going to do.

But don’t think he’s doing this solely to humor you and isn’t getting any enjoyment out of it. There are very few things that you do together that he doesn’t love by virtue of, well, your doing it together lol.

Between work/school/whatever other life things the pair of you got going on, domestic reprieves are few and far between. I personally canon Jay as being a big homebody, and shit like this? Yeah, he lives for it.

🌟 Luckily for you both he’s less far militant about this than the gift wrapping thing lol.

So long as there isn’t anything on the line and-or these cookies aren’t meant to go on display he’s able to dial back the intensity. He doesn’t want this to be anything but fun for you both.

It should be said, however, that he’s really adamant about getting accurate measurements. There will be no putting liquids in dry cups or vice versa in his house, no sir. In fact he’s more apt to use a scale if you’re making anything larger than a single batch; it’s just easier that way.

Anything meant to be given as a gift will probably be something really basic that doesn’t require any decoration outside of nice packaging (think homemade slice-and-bake type deals).

🌟 His favorite cookies to both eat and decorate are gingerbread men. Yeah, he’s basic like that.

He’s a big fan of warm, heavily spiced things, especially in the colder months, and gingerbread hits all the right notes for him.

On the production end it helps that they’re a p. basic cookie to make, and even easier to make pretty thanks to the cookie cutter. Likewise decorating them is a straight forward endeavor, but you also have the option of doing something a bit more elaborate if you so choose.

And the scent… *chef’s kiss*

If you can abide by it, he’ll definitely keep a few gingerbread scented candles around the house and occasionally light them throughout the year.

🌟 In that same vein gingerbread houses are also a thing—a very big thing, in fact.

They’re not the most practical decoration—never mind the vermin that they’re basically begging to move right the hell in—but something about them just screams ‘Christmas’ to him.

He doesn’t go in for those store bought kits, not when there are so many cool templates to be found online, and that’s saying nothing of what the two of you can dream up together.

Has certainly initiated a few fun competitions between you to see who could make the best creation. These are never serious, naturally, with the prizes being sweet and-or flirty things like winner gets x-amount of cuddles and kisses and the like which means there are no real losers to be had.

Ahhhh~ it’s so cute, y’all are so cute, I cannot…

🌟 Overall it’s a p. chill time. Naturally things get a bit more involved if you’re making the houses, but even then the vibe’s very ‘lo-fi winter mix’ lol.

Things never get too messy because who the fuck wants to clean that shit up? And in between batches you’ll be snacking on the scraps while you decorate and chill and just generally enjoy each other’s company—and if that isn’t that the very thing we all need in these trying times idk wtf is…

The Short Second Life of Gregory the Gingerbread Man || WC: ~400

You look on in mock horror as your man liberates a smiling cookie being of one of its signature—nay, sacred—decorations.

“‘Noooo! Not the gumdrop button!’” Your impersonation of Gingy leaves a lot to be desired, you’re sure, but it gets your building buddy to laughing so it’s all good.

For his part Jay continues to chuckle as he affixes the sugar-crusted treat to the trimming that runs along the roof of his larger creation. To call the thing a ‘gingerbread house’ would be an insult to all parties involved; it’s a gingerbread McMansion at the very least, one complete with a Berry Blue Jell-O pool and Isomalt picture windows. The not-so-little house is nearly nicer than your actual home, though the same cannot be said for the state of its tenants.

“Poor Gregory. I can’t believe you’re gonna do my mans dirty like that,” you continue on as you look over the defaced cookie. “It’s not like he was wearing much to begin with. With the buttons gone he may as well be naked! At the very least he’s been disgraced. How’s he supposed to look the rest of his ginger-family in the face now?”

“…Good point.”

Jay picks Gregory up then, and for a moment you think he’s gonna set him back to rights, but–

“Wow. You really just did that, huh? The buttons weren’t enough, you had to go and eat his legs too.”

“And his stomach, that’s the most important bit,” he tells you around his bite. “The little dude was living foul. Out here all half-dressed—that shit ain’t decent. We gotta think of the ginger-children if nothing else, babe.”

You snort out half a laugh at that, though his solution ignores several others that would’ve allowed Greg to live to see another day (i.e. replacing his buttons), but you don’t bother with pointing that out, especially since it looks like he’s gonna be adding the little drops to his cross hatching as well. Jay’s really going all in on this and you’re positive that before it’s even halfway complete you’ll have made another store run or five.

And as for Gregory, well… Better eaten than locked away in some gingerbread cell until The Rot sets in, you suppose.

buckle up folks this is gonna be long bc min. character limit uni papers thought me a lot of things but def not how to be concise 

01. planning

this was a long time ago but i do remember wanting to make something with overlays bc quite honestly i started working on this way too late and it seemed the fastest lmao. jokes on me i had 2 failed attempts and this also went through some changes along the way. initially i wanted to combine dye, bol and present:you... them being my fave eras for this lovable dumb man. so it would’ve been one pair for each gif.

02. creating

picking footage

so onto creating,, first things first the concept had to be changed bc present:you only had light shots so that had to be removed rip, here you can see a failed attempt at me trying to include it. this was before i started making proof on concepts for gifsets which later on saved me so much time... but not this time

once i accepted defeat i had to reshuffle the shots and add some new ones but it was all good i was not losing braincells at all. so onto the real gifs, gonna show you the red one bc that’s my fave of the three. 

making the base

btw i’m always working with timelines and smart objects bc it feels way easier than frames. so here we started with this jaebeom, and since the background and his hair it’s pretty dark those will be the parts which will be covered with the next gif. i made it black and white and also adjusted the levels a bit to make it a bit softer (lowered the whites and lightened the blacks)

for aesthetic purposes i always go for one close shot and one wider shot, then literally all i did was add the other gif on top, and set it to lighten. okay this is it that’s the whole process bye. oh we need the rest too? okay okay. so btw for a while i was considering making both of them coloured but then bw looked better when having all three gifs under each other, felt more like a ‘set’

now for this gif in particular i did not need to mask anything, shocking, but for the others i had to either blend the edges or make the bottom layer darker at some places to let the top layer show up a bit more e.g. for the second gif i needed a tiny blending like so (it’s the layer 1 copy 3 lmao)

making the overlay bits

then we are basically done with the main part of the gifs, obviously i applied colouring to each inside the smart object. but i always like to add something extra on top which are usually two things: 1.) full overlay gif something blurred (literally any kind of footage.. i used leaves, water, space renders etc. so far), or a light leak, oooor a bokeh effect whatever and just keep it subtle. and 2.) some smaller moving bits which are usually sparkles, dust, stars, galaxy stuff etc. u get the idea. for the above gif this happens to be Layer 1 copy 2 rip. also in this case this overlay is actually this jaebeom footage blurred and with some colouring added on top of it to have this redish brassy tone (not me forgetting about this completely lmao) obviously it’s zoomed in and i’m using the top left part of the video blurred. look at me explaining my chosen gif with another gifs gahd i’m bad at this. anyways it just goes to show i use practially anything i can think of and just blur it. 

for the full overlay footage i either go black and white and set it to overlay or soft light, whatever works best, or go coloured and set it to lighten again.... whatever blending mode works best. for this specific 2nd gif i went with lighten. for the smaller moving bits same tbh i just adjust the levels/curves to only show the bits i need when it’s set to lighten, i.e. i make its background more black so it won’t make the gif hazy. 

 adding the text

so anyways i add those on top so it’s not boring anymore,, practically just concealing the fact that all i‘ve really done was adding a gif on top of another and set it to lighten rip. oh yeah we have the text layers, nothing fancy here: for the script i used Challenge and the serif is FogtwoNo5. For the script i sampled some red from the background and just set it to overlay, and for the serif i just went with full caps adding some extra kerning bc one: for full caps you always need that, not this much lol, and two: it just looks better okay. 

last touches

then i added a levels adjustment layer because i felt the gifs were a bit brighter than i wanted, so we ended up with this

oh my gahd we are almost theeeere, for saving gifs here are my settings, i did not have to tell photoshop which colours to use luckily so it was an easy process.

03. posting

eeehmmm posting... yeah nothing exciting? i just save it in my drafts check it on mobile, and if something is really messed up i’ll change some colouring and saving settings, but this was a fairly ‘easy’ gif for tumblr to compress decently so none of that.

1. Favorite thing about them

The way she’s secretly just a really heartbroken person looking for love and safety and stability. She needs therapy so bad and lashes out because she can’t handle any kind of struggle without her instincts kicking in and making her snap. It kind of reminds me of an abused dog tbh? Like dogs are the Softest Babies until you treat them badly and the they’re feral and dangerous and I think that applied to Cheryl a lot. I wanna give her a forehead kiss and a 45 minute hug ugh

2. Least favorite thing about them

I will say the way she bites peoples’ heads off is actually kind of funny sometimes but ultimately is uncalled for. She tends to be unable to handle problems without hurting someone else - especially in the early seasons. She seems better from what I’ve seen of spoilers but I wish she would go to therapy and not sink her claws into the nearest person anytime she isn’t feeling great.

3. Favorite line

“Dear god Betty, is there no memory - however traumatic - you won’t defile?” GOD it’s her best line. She’s the only one who ever calls Betty Cooper out and I absolutely adore her for it. Best character in the whole show I don’t even care anymore.

4. BrOTP

Cheryl/Archie siblings should have been expanded on more as a dynamic. Cheryl/Veronica should have been used more too, Cheryl needs a friend she can turn to. I also would have loved a friendship between Fangs and Sweeetpea for Cheryl since she ended up dating Toni and should have spent time around them by association. All of these relationships? Would have died for them. None of them were canon. (Goes insane)

5. nOTP

Cheryl/Jughead. I can see the appeal of this ship and used to like it myself but recently I really am addicted to lesbian Cheryl and think that a ship that includes her dating a boy just doesn’t hit as hard. It’s not canon to my knowledge exactly where her sexuality lands (we see her kiss Archie but I always saw that as comphet as well as being pressured by her family as WELL as being alone and scared and clinging to the only person who was kind to her in that moment) but I just. Lesbian Cheryl yeah :) Also gay Jughead but that’s another post lmao-

6. OTP

I know Cheryl has another girlfriend in season five but from where I’m at I really love Choni. I don’t know if they hit otp standing but I do love them. Would have also liked a possible exploration of Veronica/Cheryl because wlw-curious girls exploring their sexualities together would have been dope. I don’t know if I have a MAIN Cheryl ship. I just ship her with happiness tbh.

7. Random headcannon

I always loved artist Cheryl and I saw they’re doing it season 5 I am SO FUCKING EXCITED. When it was initially introduced in season two I lost my MIND. I had it in my head season one the second we saw her daily makeup looks and stellar fashion choices and I am so glad that for once Riverdale writer and me saw eye to eye. Best day of my life.

8. Unpopular opinion

Jason wasn’t a good brother. I don’t know how far this opinion goes or if it really stands as unpopular but the discourse this started last time I stated someone was a bad familial member I’m just gonna state that from my viewpoint and the way I read the scene between them, it really seemed like Jason was going to run away from his problems and leave Cheryl to carry the burden of it all. Auguste: Well, Auguste likes to work with his hands. Be it tying Nik up or teasing him into oblivion, it doesn't really matter. Auguste is patient and he's a perfectionist. If he starts something, he will only stop once he's completely satisfied with the result and that applies to almost everything. So, he ties Nik up beautifully, caresses every inch of his skin and teases him until he's begging for more. He leaves marks, grips Nik's hips or his thighs strong enough to bruise when they're fucking. At the same time, he knows when not to touch. He likes to use positive motivation, so reward good behavior, and is using his touch for that too. After discovering that Nik has a bit of a thing for his hands, especially when he wears gloves, he'll take full advantage of that. He might actually play with something (maybe a riding crop? 👀) and let Nik watch without allowing Nik to touch or Auguste touching him either.

Nik: That's easy 😏. Nik will do what Auguste wants him to do. His default setting (lmao) is to have them crossed at the wrists on his back. He enjoys when Auguste ties his hands up a lot. He likes to feel his muscles straining and knowing that he has no way of just struggling free, he adores that Auguste can do to him whatever he wants without Nik having to restrain his own strength or think about how to move. When he's not tied up, he likes to hold onto Auguste's shoulders (they're very nice shoulders) or his back (same, very nice) or his ass (spectacular) and feel the muscles move underneath the skin. Nik loves sucking Auguste's fingers. He has a bit of a thing for his hands anyway. He might not admit it out loud, at least not without being sincerely encouraged by Auguste, but he could worship them for hours without getting bored. And as soon as gloves get involved, he knows he's a lost cause anyway.

What is their favorite thing to do with their hands and does the other one like it? Auguste loves tying Nik up carefully, with beautiful, expensive rope. It's probably his favorite pastime. Nik absolutely adores it. Nik loves when he gets to touch without restriction. When Auguste tells him to just 'Go for it' he can't get enough of putting his hands on him. Auguste loves how desperate Nik gets to be touched in return just by touching him. It's win-win really.

Chapter 96 - Suyi getting mad at the kids for complaining about Hansu is so funny like when she first appears you think she's perhaps a stuck up celebrity or a pushover but it turns out she's just a really sweet friend.

- Suyi being stunned by Rai's looks but not falling for him (same with Yuna) is one of the things I always liked about Noblesse. Like sure in the first meeting they get blushy but I'll just jot that down to the inherent beauty of nobles since I can't relate to it at all.

Chapter 97 - Frankenstein's house always being stocked with so much food because the kids just started coming over daily is hilarious. Even funnier since Frankenstein obviously thinks it's overkill but is the one stocking up anyway.

Chapter 98 - Regis and Seira 🥺 Seira's og outfit was the best one she had like it only goes downhill from here folks.

Chapter 99 - It would have been so funny if Frankenstein went "they must be cosplayers" instead of realising the two were nobles.

- Regis taking all the initiative shows how it's his roadtrip coming of age journey which is pretty clever. Also Seira's just like that but still.

- M-21 thinking he won't get any information because of his time at the Union and thus being surprised at how open Frankenstein is is actually really sweet. Like yeah I still think Frankenstein is an unethical and questionable person but he is kind to most humans (werewolves and nobles can go fuck themselves I guess lmao).

Chapter 101 - The second hand embarrassment I felt when M-21 called the two noblesse... how do I even consume content?

Or to be more specific, that would be the classification given to low leveled members. On one hand I think it's dumb that the Union gives members twisted information because how would they even use it? But on the other hand it makes sense since it prevents said members from seeking nobles for help. After all, if they believe even the 'noblesse' are vampires that drink blood, than obviously they won't see them as possible escape routes.

If you take canon at face value than the fact that nobles were around when humans first emerged and there being about 2-3 clan leaders before the current generation means you can estimate their lifespan. Ofc it differs wildly depending on how you interpret the 'first humans' part. I'll assume there were 3 generations before the current generation (mvp lord being the third generation) and won't be adding the current generation since a 0.5-2k years is kinda meaningless. I'll also be assuming that mvp lord entered eternal sleep at around the same age as his predecessors and that he would have died soon from old age anyway (since canonically they do have limited lifespans). If we assume it's just the first human ancestors (7 million years ago) than the average pureblood lifespan is 2.33 million years. If we assume it's when homo sapiens started to emerge (300k years ago) than it's 100k years. If it's about modern humans (130k years ago) than it's 43.3k years. Regardless I'll ignore it since my hcs are that nobles are effectively immortal unless killed and that the 2-3 clan leaders is a misconception due to a mix of Gechutel just straight up lying, because there are clans that have had fewer clan leaders, because I have nobles settling on Lukedonia only 30k years ago, and because Gechutel is factoring in his own age of 10.2k so it's more like 'There have been 2-3 Ru clan leaders before the Ru clan leader 10k years ago since after we settled in Lukedonia'. There's also the possibility that nobles didn't have lords or clan leaders until a few thousand years ago in canon but the species has existed for much longer.

Chapter 109 - "What were they researching here?" Since when does the Union research anything aside from human modifications Kranz? Why do you even need to ask? More seriously this means that the Union doesn't actually only do human experimentation and weapons lmao. The other shit just isn't relevant I guess. It's a shame, I'd have loved to see how a lab focused on like, fixing up polluted waters, would be fit into the story.

- The fact that Tao beat Jake up is never mentioned enough. Also confirms that Jake was lying out of his ass about being the strongest.

- Marie being the weakest assassination squad member is interesting like I know why Crombel doesn't need bodyguards as the reader but you'd think the Union would be suspicious of him not having a stronger bodyguard. Also I still can't believe the Union doesn't bother learning who the members are aside from the ones Crombel tells them about like. Bro???

- Shark calling Takeo uptight is hilarious because the guy literally just shot the falling ceiling light which is the opposite of uptight. Either he was preventing them from getting hurt/being caught or he wanted that to happen considering the fact that he shot it and it shattered. And then he just goes back to leaning against the wall. Takeo please 🤣

Chapter 110 - And Shinwoo's still staying over at Ikhans place. Wonder when he's gonna move back. I really love their dynamic like yeah I beg my sister to get me food all the time too. Also love the apron and skeleton hoodie.

- Shinwoo went through the five stages of grief pretty quick huh? Like yeah it's his own misunderstanding that Ikhan is dating someone but still. Homophobia is annoying as always though.

Chapter 111 - Suyi paying for their food is so sweet of her and also I relate so much like yeah mood that's me and no I don't want to be paid back.

- Aris managing to make herself look like a teenager as Taivra is interesting since Takeo says he wants her to be able to go to school like Yuna and Shinwoo when he's treating them. I guess she looks younger without makeup.

- Takeo just straight up pointing his gun at Shark in public because he mentioned Taivra... anger issues much? I understand why but taking your gun out is an overreaction.
