IT COULD HAVE BEEN the lack of sleep catching up on him from yesterday but he swore he wasn’t seeing things. Amidst the sea of faces in the crowd, his gaze kept drifting to a familiar figure seated near the team’s bench where he stood nearby taking a quick gulp of water.

There she was, with her eyes the colour of earth kissed by spring rains, the hue that promises to stir life from dormant seeds, the nascent plants guided upward by the light before blossoming into the vibrant colours of a new season. Her hair was the brown of aged mahogany, rich and deep, yet with the subtle hues only time brings. Those strands that he was too familiar with, staring at the back of her head back in the days whilst she sat in front of him in classes.

She was a constant presence in his thoughts, a captivating enigma he couldn't shake off. Her laughter echoed in his mind when the lights dimmed in his bedroom, her smile a beacon of warmth that drew him in. But here, in the midst of the pulsating stadium, João couldn't believe his eyes. Was it truly her?

Throughout the match, João’s mind oscillated between the thrill of the game and the enigmatic presence of her. His concentration wavered, his thoughts drifting to moments shared and conversations unspoken. With each passing minute, the field seemed to blur, his focus slipping away like sand through his fingers.

But duty called and he pushed aside the distractions, channeling his energy into the game, his every touch eliciting roars of approval from the crowd for those seventy three minutes he played. He thanked his lucky stars and the coach for subbing him off early today, finding himself a seat within her distance. João’s neck awkwardly craned and turned just to catch a glimpse of her, her eyes everywhere but on him.

And when he catches her eyes before he could realise he was staring, his breathing becomes harder, the pensive look on him melting into a smile as soft as the morning light. His body squirms just a little as his muscles relax but he just threw a thumbs up her way, acting as if everything was fine. There was something about that gaze of her he’ll never find in another woman.

As the final whistle blew and Barcelona emerged victorious, João’s heart raced with adrenaline and triumph. But amidst the celebrations, a lingering doubt gnawed at him. Should he have approached her? But it was probably her lookalike, the last he checked her Instagram, she was still on set and busy. At the end of the day, he knew deep in every nook and crevice of his heart that it was probably her and he was just lying to himself, no mistakes on recognising the girl he secretly pinned after in highschool.

There would be other matches, other moments. For now, João embraced the euphoria of victory, knowing that somewhere amidst the chaos of the stadium, she lingered, a silent specter in the tapestry of his dreams. He made a mental note of checking her Instagram later tonight and stop his brother from commenting outrageous comments about himself.

The last time he was playing in the stadium and on the pitch was when she was here. And she literally was here after her two recent posts on her social media platform accounts. And he was right, João would never recognise the wrong woman, not when he memorised every bit and parts of her before she left Viseu.

In the velvet night, the shining light of the stadium shone upon her, illuminating each and every feature of her. João legs unable to carry himself forward, entranced by her with his match jersey in one hand and a towel in the other. There she was looking right at him, dead in his eyes whilst a small grin plastered across her face.

“You’re staring at her like you love her.” Ferran nudges him by his shoulder, a small hint of banter evident in his voice. “She’s your friend though, isn’t she?” João questions, his once agape jaw now capable of finding words to speak, arms hanging around Ferran’s shoulders as they walk towards where she was.

“Yeah but we aren’t that close like you are with her.” Ferran shrugs nonchalantly, removing João’s arm around his shoulder before patting João on the back and pushing him towards her before running into the tunnel. “Good luck, I know you can do it.” He heard the whispers of Ferran before actually processing what happened.

“Long time no see and talk, great goal today Floki.” She rubbed his shoulders, calling him by his nickname she had for him in school. She was the whole entire point of naming his own dog Floki, just to have the simplest and smallest yet memorable thing of her by his side.

His palms turned sweaty at the moment, nibbling at the lower lip of his and he swore he could hear his heart palpitating against his chest, yearning to be freed from the tightness within him. “Thanks, it’s so good to see you after all these years. You still look gorgeous.”

Her eyes curved into crescents, his favourite thing about her. “Really, you think so?” Her fingers are linked together while she fiddles with them, swaying her body a little from side to side. “I don’t think so, I am sure. Anyways, what brings you here?”

“You, I heard you have been loaned to Barcelona for the season and I thought to just drop by some matches to watch you while cheering for the team.” She turns João around, pushing him to walk into the tunnel while she follows behind. He didn’t know how to reply, losing all capability of talking when he couldn’t find the right words without messing it up and showing his anxiousness.

“That’s good, I was hoping to catch you in Barcelona when I saw your Instagram post. I mean not that I follow up on it but nevermind, I’m not explaining myself clearly.” He waved his hand in the air, a sign for her to shrug the conversation and whatever he just said off.

“It’s okay I miss you too João, you can just admit it.”

kind of an unpopular opinion, but one of my favourite things about the later seasons of aos is deke. i feel like he brings some things to the show that the early seasons had and that got a little lost in all the misery since then.

like yes, he fucks up a lot, but its intended as comic relief and those are some of the best episodes imo. 6x4 for example just makes fun of techbros, like the stealing of ideas, self aggrandizement, and complete misunderstanding of women.

and he gets plenty of shit for it, but the show also makes it clear that underneath all of that is a good heart and that hes there for the people who need him when it counts. like how hes immediatley ride or die once izel becomes a serious threat.

and in everything that he does he is clearly the man from a dystopian future who never had anything. he doesnt understand racism, he tries to get as much money as he can because thats what hes used to and he never had much, and is scrambling to try and understand how earth works. but he also tries to be better because what he was in the future was born out of necessity and needing to survive, and he tries to fit in with the people he looks up to, and to show empathy and compassion. as a character, hes very consistent in his motivations and actions.

and these are things that the team werent really doing all that much anymore. i got the feeling that while they are very much family, the degree to which they took care of each other in the later seasons compared to for example season 2 (when daisy just got her powers), was less, because they became too used to all the craziness and it was basically expected theyd all still show up and do the job regardless and noone really had time to do more anyway.

meanwhile heres deke, used to a lot of severe circumstances himself, but given a second chance and now presented with all these hardened spies treating world-ending events and deeply traumatic personal crises like minor inconveniences, and his reaction is to try and show them the degree of compassion and support they should have because all of this is indeed very much not normal.

which is the role daisy had in season 1, and kind of fitting if you ask me, cause in a way it brings everything full circle.

If you were put in charge of making a JTTW movie/TV adaption from start to finish what direction would you have the show go?

*SHAKING AND FROTHING AT THE MOUTH FROM THE THOUGHT OF BEING IN CHARGE OF MY OWN ULTRAVIOLENT BODY HORROR-ESQUE JTTW ADAPTATION* Oh I am so normal about this prospect anon.

But in all seriousness I think I would DEFINITELY want it to be a lengthy animated tv adaptation because there's so much rich backstory and plot in the og classic that a movie length doesn't really let you delve into, AND because the wild transformations and different entities seem like they would be best conveyed in the limitless possibilities of animation! Like just imagine how terrifying a havoc in heaven would be where the Monkey King is shown taking FULL advantage of every single one of his abilities (as-you-will cudgel size transformation, tons of monkey clones, transformation from one creature to another, invulnerability, truth-seeing eyes, transformation into a three-headed six-armed towering monstrosity to fight an Erlang Shen who does the same, etc.). In addition, I also do think that the length of time it took for the pilgrims to warm up to each other and for Sun Wukong to go from a practical and ruthless yaoguai warlord to the Buddha Victorious in Strife is an important part of what makes Xiyouji the classic that it is, and this is all something that I think could be well captured in a lengthy animated series.

I know for sure that I'd want to spend a good amount of time on Sun Wukong's transformation from a relatively innocent stone monkey to the most viciously powerful of the yaoguai warlords to a sincere Buddhist, especially since the very understandable fear of death for himself and his loved ones seems to constantly be a driving force behind a lot of his actions. I think seeing the transformation of the monkey from loving and wanting to protect a relatively small group of people (47,000 monkeys & his friends) to extending that active love and compassion to individuals of all sorts, both human and yao, could be a really cool arc for the Monkey King too. This is especially so as it raises the interesting question as to whether compassion and love can end up being destructive if it's only offered to some but not others, and what atonement for past violence might be.

Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing also present a potentially fascinating case of dealing with disgraced deities who start off by considering their time on Earth and time on the journey a punishment before they eventually come to develop genuine compassion for the mortals they encounter. Stories about a fall from heaven leading to the fallen ones developing greater empathy for those who were once literally below them is my jam, and I think these other two pilgrims could offer a neat way to explore that! Also I want to note that I'm fully on team "Zhu Bajie is constantly complaining that he's hungry and tired first because of his own appetites and then as a way to get the other four self-destructive idiots to stop and take care of the basic necessities of life." For sure I'd also add in that potential hint noted by others that breaking a vase during a banquet had a precedent of being used as a signal to start a coup, thus explaining why Sha Wujing's punishment on Earth was much worse than Zhu Bajie's. And one simply can't do without the indication that it was everyone's favorite Friar Sand who had eaten eight of Tang Sanzang's reincarnations! He may be one of the pilgrim group's straight men, but he also spent centuries as a cannibal <3.

Also yeah hard agree with others that both Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing start off the pilgrimage pretty terrified of Sun Wukong because they saw him at his violently worst in heaven. As a treat :3

I think I'd also have Ao Lie spend more time outside of his horse not just so that he can be a dragon-ish guy as well as an actual dragon, but also so that we can get more insight into how his transformation from a destructive prince to a humble steed changed him. I think it also would be cool to spend a little more time on the dragon kings and how, for example, it does raise some uncomfortable questions about their whole deal if Ao Lie could commit arson & destroy a pearl and be punished pretty brutally while Ao Guang could run a weather-based protection racket for centuries and get a 12 year old to kill himself and yet they all seem to be cool with that :[

I'd also want to make my adaptation one that deals more with the aftereffects of the absolute bullshit the pilgrims go through. For example, it's pretty rare to find an adaptation out there that gives full weight to the stuff Tang Sanzang went through, and while it is understandable why and can be funny to characterize him as one of the "straight men" of the pilgrim group or as the weepy useless guy who falls off his dragon horse all the time, I've literally never encountered an adaptation that for example has him react at the age of 18 to his mother committing suicide after Xuanzang went through so much to try and help her, or him having to see both of the human companions he started the journey with get eaten alive by yaoguai. I'd want to make Tang Sanzang more of a dynamic character than he is even in Xiyouji itself, and I do think delving into this background--you knowing, showing why exactly he does in fact have good reason to be suspicious and even hateful of yaoguai and perhaps more secretly certain humans (his mother was after all brutalized for years by a bandit chief)--would be good to deal with in showing Tang Sanzang's journey to enlightenment. And for sure I'd want to make Tang Sanzang a little more like the historical Xuanzang in having him both be a master translator and a canny rule-breaker; I think that having the story follow history in that Xuanzang was in fact forbidden from going west in search of Buddhist scriptures but went anyway, for example, would be a good path to follow. Might give him an interesting point of relation and sympathy to SWK as well, in that both of them would be challenging authority to do what they think is right.

I do think that this all could also make for a really interesting point of tension and later comprehension between Tang Sanzang and SWK, where you would have the monk and the monkey on the same journey for very different but in some ways similar reasons (Tang Sanzang wants the scriptures because he sincerely believes that they will save countless souls, SWK wants to finish the journey so that he can go back home and protect his monkeys). Like Tang Sanzang would be starting the journey at age 28 and after going through some pretty intense trauma, but having lived in a monastery for most of his life wouldn't have much of a sense of what dangers the world contains as SWK, even though he is determined to complete the journey no matter the cost to himself. SWK, on the other hand, would be starting the journey after the bitter defeat in heaven and the anguish of 500 years in solitary confinement, and would likely be enraged about everything he lost but would still be operating under the terrible elation that came from his vast violent power. As someone else once put it, it could be a similar dynamic to a late middle-aged triads boss having to watch out for a beginning grad student lmao. So you'd have a lot of tension between SWK and Tang Sanzang's world views, with the former thinking that violence is a perfectly acceptable way to solve problems or get what you want, while the other abhors violence of all sorts, and they'd both have plentiful reasons to criticize the other.

While the film The Monkey King 2 is far from the best JTTW retelling out there (though it is one of my personal favorites lol), it also has this pretty great and rare scene for JTTW retellings that I feel I'd like my own retelling to somewhat emulate. Here, Sun Wukong saves Tang Sanzang and a bunch of little kids from the violent actions of a king, but he's only able to do this because the Monkey King is more powerful than the king and is able to legitimately threaten the king with death if he goes back to his vicious ways. Tang Sanzang does get Sun Wukong to spare the king, but the king then directly calls the monk out on the seeming hypocrisy of his mission. I forget the exact words, but the king's accusations were basically about how Tang Sanzang is a fraud and a liar because for all that he preaches peace and forgiveness he wouldn't be able to make it anywhere, he wouldn't be able to save anyone, he would have in fact been killed long ago if it wasn't for Sun Wukong's power and willingness to violence. And I do think in a lot of ways this is the crux of a lot of interesting questions that Xiyouji brings up even if it never provides one solid answer: that we all want to be relieved of suffering, and yet what do we do in a world where violence is something we both constantly suffer from as well as commonly inflict upon others?

I guess ultimately I'd want this to be a retelling that really focuses on the many forms and roles of violence in the shaping of a society, what the consequences of this violence often is, and what might be done to create a more just and peaceful life for all.

I'd know I'd want to spend a lot of time on SWK getting back home to Mt. Huaguoshan and finding it this burned-out ruin with the vast majority of his family dead or otherwise gone, only to realize that this was done by heaven in retaliation for the war and his havoc in heaven in a true case of mythological M.A.D. I feel like this, as with other scenes, would be a good way to bring up Xiyouji's frequent refrain that "for the strong there's always the stronger," and how the devastation that violence and warfare wrecks on a landscape, even if it seems awesome and justifiable at the time it's being waged, leads to horrific problems that don't go away even after generations and which could very easily be turned against you and your loved ones. I've said before that one of the things that I like about the Monkey King is that he almost always has a very clear reason for doing what he does, and I think this would be a great arc for it to really and painfully hit home that ultimately violence does not exist in a vacuum, and, especially when you care about so many, it ultimately serves to create a world where your own loved ones can easily become the next who will suffer. Yet even here the complexity of the situation doesn't stop, because while SWK is able to vastly improve the lives of his monkeys by doing everything he can to restore Mt. Huaguoshan back to its former fecundity, he also protects them by well killing 1000 human hunters who had been going after them for years. The violence may never stop, but neither do the efforts to make the world a more peaceful place. And as it is, no one can live by the sword alone.

Just some sketchy thoughts anon, but I hope you like what I'm laying out :)

Scientists in southwest England have recently unveiled the discovery of the oldest fossilized forest known on Earth, dating back an astonishing 390 million years. This finding, detailed in a new study released by the University of Cambridge, surpasses the previous record held by a forest in the state of New York by 4 million years.

The fossils were found on high sandstone cliffs on the south side of the Bristol Channel, near Minehead, close to a holiday park. The trees, identified as Calamophyton, bore resemblance to palms, although their trunks were thin and hollow, devoid of leaves but with branch-like structures covering their branches. These trees ranged in height from 2 to 4 meters, losing branches as they grew.

The forest dates back to the Devonian Period, a critical time between 419 and 358 million years ago when life began to venture onto land. The trees played a vital role, trapping sediments in their root systems and stabilizing riverbanks and coastlines.

The study also highlights the rapid evolution of primitive forests. While the English forest is less diverse, consisting of only one tree type compared to New York's oldest forest, which housed a variety of species, it demonstrates how flora changed quickly in geological terms.

Additionally, these trees provided habitats for ground-dwelling invertebrates, leaving evidence of tracks and tail drags from primitive arthropods. Although the exact identity of these arthropods is unknown, their tracks and drags indicate the presence of sizable invertebrates, some reaching widths of 5 to 10 centimeters.

Scientists also noted that at the time, the cliffs where the fossils were found were connected to parts of what is now Germany and Belgium, rather than England. The study was published in the Journal of the Geological Society.

The discovery was described as "fortuitous" as the team was in the area investigating general geology and stumbled upon the fossils during a casual lunch in a field. This revelation not only emphasizes the importance of forests in stabilizing ancient ecosystems but also underscores the luck involved in such scientific discoveries.

Well, no it wasn't necessary, but there is so much unpack here

It's really easy to view Sif and the Warriors Three as the mean kids picking on outsider and say they are just jerks, but I would say there are way more layers to characters. If you are going to take Loki's own perspective and motives into account it's only fair to take theirs as well.

Remember after the Jotunheim battle Sif makes the accusations that Loki is plotting, Hogun's quick to agree, but Fandral actually defended Loki and Volstagg, if somewhat begrudgingly, admitted that Loki telling the guard was the right thing to do. Sif and Hogun are kinda right for the wrong reasons. Loki did set this whole thing into motion and it was in part due to jealousy. We the audience know it's more than that and Loki did not intend for this to happen, but from their perspective it looks super suss when it seems like Loki intentionally set Thor up to fall only for the next time they see him for him to be on the throne.

Yes, they are the ones who committed treason when they went to earth to get Thor. But they went behind Loki's back and he tried to kill them. Technically they are the ones who betrayed him, but anyone would feel a little burned after a murder attempt.

I would say Thor 2011 is a tragedy where everyone on Asgard made mistakes that lead to the events of the film. Sif and the Warriors Three all put the glory of battle and their devotion to Thor over actually thinking things through and considering what's truly the right thing to do. But I don't think that makes any of them bad people.

Like, the flaw with them in all this is they never take the time to understand Loki and that's what makes everything worse. But they're never really given Loki's full perspective so it's not like they have the chance to really reconcile with what happened and reconsider their actions. They're just mad Loki tried to kill them and they still prioritize that devotion to Thor over everything else. TDW they once again comment a treason for Thor. Just this time it's directly against Odin. Right or wrong their devotion is to Thor.

Now to Fandral's credit he doesn't seem to hold much of a grudge even if he doesn't think Loki should be trusted. So, I think canonically Fandral is the nicest person to Loki as he is never resentful or manipulative.

So there's obviously a lot of conflict between Sif and Loki and it's never explained what that's all about. But I would say I think Sif has a lot of noble qualities. Those episodes of AoS were able to show off plenty of positive qualities Sif. She was very respectful of Coulson and his team and was willing to work with them. We've seen the æser really look down on humans, but Sif never does. She even agreed not to tell Thor Coulson was alive because that was something he wanted to do himself.

So, Sif and the warriors three. I'd say they're flawed but not bad.

Anbu

are covert operatives of capable ninja that are dispatched by their village kage. There are apparently no ranks within the Anbu; team leadership and hierarchy seem to be based on merit and experience. The leaders of the teams are called squad leaders, a position held in high regard.(This mostly goes for konoha’s anbu)

Because Anbu are so vital to the village's operations, they cannot be arrested by the police without a warrant. ch222

Root

Root carried out missions that Danzō believed would benefit Konoha. Because of its core views as "the unseen ones who support the great tree of Konoha from the depths of the earth" ch 285

some of these missions were less respectable, such as eliminating individuals that were considered potential threats simply for their hatred for Konoha, despite not actually having done anything against the village. The organisation's top priority was its secrecy, and most of its missions were carried out in the dark of Konoha's authority. Root was officially disbanded after the Uchiha Clan Downfall due to Danzō spearheading the tragedy.ch284

 remained active as an underground organisation until Danzō's death. Despite Third's orders to disband the group, the members remained loyal to Danzō, his orders being the highest priority over even the Hokage's. Unpopular Opinion

-Had ATLA released in the 90s I'd bet Dustin would be basing all his arsenal on Toph, maybe it's just me wanting to see civilian powers again but I hope he makes a return just to show off this lost creativity of non ranger powers that we had from Ninja Storm to Mystic Force.

One thing I wish would/had happened in the show

-Should've kissed a guy or had a power up of his own, well second part applies to all team members.

-idk why but the idea of an Evil Dustin via Lothor(like that one episode) as an arc would be interesting, actually cement how crazy the earth element can get with the right practice, from growing plants, controlling heated crust, explosions etc.

Headcanons

-No doubt about it Dustin can identity as Bi, Trans, Gay, Pan. No way that dude is straight cause he pretty much loves everyone.

-He lives happily in bliss but again it does lead to his downfall cause how can Dustin tell when someone is being rude to him, though being sad or angry leads to a lot of emotions coming out.

-He sometimes grows a little stubble for a beard and on his chest, low and behold the day he wears a v-neck out Hunter has to stop other students from charging at Dustin and dude is just unaware of it. This combo plus a flip of his curly locks and everyone around just falls over.

-While they like him the yellow rangers except for Kelsey, Chip and Katie banned him from being in group chats because he doesn't know WHEN TO STOP SPAMMIMG SHIT LATE IN THE NIGHT. Taylor would throw fried bird legs at his window for two weeks straight after he video called her while she was busy on a date...doing stuff

-Dustin and Shane have some of the weirdest conversations

Shane: Brazilian guys are so fucking hot, Hunter really scored huh.

Dustin: Yeah...wait what.

-the Ninja Storm team are one of the only teams that weren't captured by the whole Zedd fiasco during Cosmic Fury and honestly get roasting rights against those that did get captured. Like it's Zedd! Not even the real version, how does one get fumbled that badly, Dustin, Taylor, Chip and Lily having the time of their lives just calling out the BS.

okay, so hear me out:

no agents of sword, because i dont think it makes much sense for the astro ambassadors to leave shield, its literally their life, and its not even necessary for space exploration. shield is back, they dont need to covertly go through other agencies anymore.

now lets assume daisys mission after the finale is to get out there, get the lay of the land, find allies for earth, and figure out who the enemies are or something to this effect (just because thats what i think makes the most logical sense). not the most interesting premise, but stay with me. the main characters would obviously be kora, sousa, and daisy, with kora essentially taking the role skye had in season 1 as the audience bait. depending on how much you want to recreate the full-on ensemble feel of aos itself, you could also add maybe two relatively major characters from the crew, piper and davis style but more relevant.

it would be a miniseries with about 6-8 episodes as part of the secret wars arc theyre setting up for phases 4-6. we would get one episode at the beginning a couple of months after the mission has started, and wed get to see what theyre up to and what their team dynamics are and everything. they could then meet with a representative of xandar to discuss possible cooperation in security matters (not diplomatic relations, that would need to be left up to official first contact teams etc, despite sousas nicknames these are still spies). the talks would go okay but not well due to earth still being perceived as a primitive backwater, and the ship would depart. just as its jumping away, it suddenly and violently explodes, leaving the team to stare out the cockpit in shock. roll credits.

the crew have skrull saboteurs among them, sent not to stop the mission (because earth could just send another team), but rather to sabotage it so thoroughly that earth remains completely isolated and alone, with noone coming to its aid once the skrulls pull off their plan and take control. making it look as if the widely known outlaw quake destroyed a xandarian transport with some kind of dignitary on it in service of earth would be pretty damning. xandar responds immediatley and puts out a bounty on her head, and the rest of the show would be them trying to root out the saboteurs, set the record straight, and win xandars support for earth after finding out about the skrulls plans from the infiltrator in their crew once they reveal them, all while trying to avoid a slew of pursuers of varying allegiances. could maybe contain the stereotypical "somethings off" detective character on the xandarian side who smells something fishy and cooperates with the team behind their superiors back to help stop the skrulls. the end of the show could be the team getting called up by nick fury to assisst him, or contacting him themselves in order to inform him of their findings.

i tried to come up with something thats new and compelling for aos just like every new season used to be different from what came before, but also sort of keeps the feel of the show to a degree, and is distinctly its own thing and relevant to whats going on in the mcu right now and ends with the team being set up for future appearances. if i wasnt so lazy id maybe turn it into its own fanfiction.

Alex Power (Headcanon) Alex Power, along with his three siblings, Jack, Katie, and Julie make up the preteen superhero team known as The Power Pack. Alex has control over gravity. He can make himself and things and people around him either light as air or extremely heavy. As the oldest he's usually the one in charge. The Power Pack has never been confirmed to be of any particular faith, however there are a few points that point to Mormonism. Their parents are relatively young to have four children. Unusual for non Mormon but easily found in most wards. Mr. Powers is also a scientist (which plays into their origin story) and, statistically speaking, Mormons are lousy with scientists (or science is lousy with Mormons). Also, there's a part in the comics where Dr. Power is wearing a BYU sweater. The colors are wrong, but still, makes you think.

Alphonso Mackenzie aka Agent Mack (Headcanon) Mack is a reserved, down to earth agent of SHIELD. His primary interests are being a mechanic and taking care of his friends. Mack identifies as "a man of faith" but his specific religion is never confirmed. He has a big heart, and a tendency to look after the "lost sheep" at SHIELD. He had a wife and a child named Hope, but after Hope died he and his wife got a divorce. His faith is brought up when he meets Elena, a Catholic Inhuman, who he starts to fall in love with. In one episode, she teases him "you love rules, you were probably a choir boy too," to which he responds "they needed somebody to sing bass." Headcanon: I feel like Mack grew up Mormon, and got married in the temple. But after losing his daughter, the whole concept of eternal families and other church things fell apart for him. Meeting Elena inspires him to start rebuilding his relationship with God on his own terms.

Been thinking about an AOS Star Trek/F1 AU so here's a BIG dump under the cut about it

Formula 1 is considered a vintage sport, having ended with WWIII on Earth and never really coming back due to the advancements in technology and culture making it more or less obsolete. However, due to a rise in interest in the sport many years later, it's then brought back on Earth for nostalgia purposes, intending to only be back for one season. Seeing the popularity of it, the newly recreated FIA decides to bring the sport back permanently, and after a few years, other Federation allies decide to allow F1 races to take place on their planets after seeing the surge in tourism that the sport brought.

The teams assume their "vintage" names from before the war, despite nearly all of the companies no longer existing in a post-capitalist world. In addition to this, there are no sponsors, and the focus of the sport is entirely on the joy of racing and technology.

Earth has retained a large portion of their vintage tracks, but new tracks are added off-planet. Vulcan and Yorktown are of particular interest, with Vulcan being the first fully-vertical circuit, and the hottest, requiring an enclosed cooling tunnel over their track to protect the all-human driver lineup. Yorktown is the newest track, and becomes the first anti-gravity track, with drivers following the roads of Yorktown that often go upside-down.

The overall shape and build of the car remains similar to how they were in the 2020s before the war due to nostalgia purposes, but with some key changes. Rather than a halo, the car is outfitted with a smaller, more compact shield similar to the ones that protect Federation ships. The technology is rather new, and as a result sometimes scrambles other frequencies.

Due to the newer tracks and difference in gravity, cars must also be outfitted with specialized technology to allow them to withstand anti-gravity drives. Tyres are also specialized for this reason.

The cars are much faster, regularly hitting 300mph/480kph, though the G-forces aren't as much of an issue anymore due to upgraded shielding allowing for more impact to be absorbed.

Should a crash or other incident happen, drivers have special "bail buttons" on their steering wheel and the side of their helmets. It's another new technology that allows them to beam from their location straight to their garage. Should the bail button fail, a driver's suit will activate a small, one-time use shield around their body, absorbing any initial impact. Unfortunately, any impact that happens afterwards is on the driver.

For the drivers themselves, their helmets are built into the collar of their suits, and can materialize and de-materialize with the press of a button. In addition, their suits are built from the most updated fabrics, being completely fireproof. They're also more lightweight and hug closer to the body since there is no longer a need for multiple layers of nomex to keep the drivers safe.

"Okay, so that should be everything we need," Yona finishes counting the supplies for the second time.

"Princess, are you sure you want to do this?" Hak asks her, his question still falling on her ears.

"Yes, I'm sure, the place has an important weaponry that was left behind by a tribe, so it could be useful," she explains.

"Yeah, but it's in a cave. Caves are dangerous," Yoon counters.

"Well, caves aren't all bad; you can sometimes find things you wouldn't expect," you mention. Everyone picks up on what you mean, and all look at Shin-Ah. Shin-Ah looks at everyone and seems to be confused, but you can never really tell because of his mask.

"Alright, but you all have to be careful cause I'm certainly not going in there," Yoon says.

"That's fine. You can look after Ao while we're gone," Yona says.

"Oh! I can stay with them too!" Zeno adds and puts his arm around an annoyed Yoon. "It'll be fun; we can bound and stuff."

"Oh, lucky me," Yoon sarcastically says.

"Well, then it's decided," Yona says, and everyone except Yoon, Zeno, and Ao go over to the cave that Yona mentioned.

When you enter the cave, you want to be with Shin-Ah, and Hak wanted to be with Yona, so you got your wish with Shin-Ah, and Hak basically death stared Jae-Ha and Kija to be with Yona.

So, you're now looking around in a dark cave for old tribe weaponry that could help the team. Given that Shin-Ah's eyes can see in the dark, he neglected to grab anything to help guide you through the darkness.

"Hey, Shin-Ah?" you ask, trying to make out his figure. You can somewhat see his white fur outlining him. Then, you see him stop, and he seems to turn to look at you.

"Hm?" you hear him hum.

"Would it be okay if I held your hand?" you ask him. "It's pretty dark in here, so..." He reaches his hand out for you to take it. When you see it, your heart skips a beat. You take it, and you both continue walking through the cave. You feel his hand is sweaty, something you weren't expecting. You think he might be nervous about the danger you might face. "Shin-Ah, are you alright?" Your question seems to startle him a bit.

"Yes. Fine," is all he says.

"Oh, I only ask cause you're pretty quiet, and your hand is sweaty," you explain.

"S-sorry," he lets go of your hand, thinking that you don't want to hold his anymore.

"Oh, no, no, it's alright. I was just wondering if you were okay," you hold out your hand for him again. He nods and holds your hand again. You give him a small smile, but you can't make out his expression due to the dark and his mask.

After moving through the dark a bit more, the caverns open up to an earth-made room. It's pretty decently spacious, and the ceilings have hanging stone spikes. You can even see better, too, so you and Shin-Ah take the opportunity to rest a bit in the room.

You chat idly with Shin-Ah until you both hear a crackling above you. Then, you both look up to see that one of the stone spiking came loose and is heading straight for you. But, before you can react, Shin-Ah dives and pushes you out of the way, and the spike hits him on his head. But, lucky for him, the spike fell on him sideways, so the impact wasn't lethal. His mask and fur fall off his face, and he immediately covers his eyes with his hands.

"Shin-Ah! Are you okay?" you ask and hold his hands that still cover his face. "Are you hurt?" He shakes his head, but you can see his head is swollen. "Shin-Ah, it's okay. Just let me look at your injury." You both sit on a rock and begin to rip up the ends of your shirt to work as a makeshift bandage. He uses one hand to cover his eyes, leaving room for you to bandage his head. "Don't worry; you can put your mask back on as soon as I'm done."

"Alright," he agrees quietly.

You bind up his wound and caress his cheek to indicate to him that you're done. But, much to your surprise, he doesn't put his mask back on once you're done. Instead, he removes his hand from his face while his eyes are closed. He reaches out to your face. Similar to what you did to him, he caresses your cheek. When you lean into his touch, he then moves his thumb to your lips. He traces your lips with his thumb, almost like he's studying them or committing them to memory. He moves his thumb away and rests it beside your lips instead.

"Shin-Ah," you say softly. He leans into you and kisses you. You kiss him back gently. When you both pull away, you catch a glimpse of his eyes. His eyes are so beautiful. It's such a shame that he has to hide them. You lean in again, he meets you in the middle, and you both kiss again.

When you break away, he finally picks up his mask and fur and puts them back on.

"I-I think we should probably get back to the others now," you say, and he nods.

You both stand up from the rock and begin to walk back the way you came. You feel a bit bad that you're going back empty-handed.

"Y/N?" Shin-Ah asks.

"Uh, yes?" he caught you off guard a bit. He turns to look at you. "What is it?"

"I...think I love you," he says. You feel yourself get really hot.

"Y-you do?" you ask, and he nods. You give him a smile.

"I think I love you too, Shin-Ah," you say. Then, you perk up and kiss his masked cheek. You notice him smile, and it makes your heart flutter. "Well, I guess we should hurry back."

"Yes," he agrees, and he leads you out hand-in-hand.

10. Which alien pet would you most want for your own?

Honestly I have always been very charmed by Worf's childhood pet domesticated targ (portrayed by Russian wild boar Emmy-Lou😂) - but I would happily adopt a Bajoran hara cat, Cardassian vole, or that cute lizard who climbs over Jadzia on the jungle planet

15. Top 3 favorite alien crewmembers?

Oooh, this is tough. Am I choosing my favs overall, or based on how much I like their alien-ness specifically? If it's the former, then Kira, B'Elanna, and Dax - if it's the latter, then Odo, Worf, and Saru (Discovery). (Deanna and Kes leaving you out Hurt Me but they didn't write you alien enough for the latter list!! Still top 5 favs though <3)

35. A minor character you wish had become a main character?

Okay let's talk about the long-form arc potential both Seska and Suder had. Literally my favourite thing about the Suder episodes is the questions about restorative justice they raise- is there any point in locking a man up after he's sincerely reformed and no longer dangerous? Is it possible to be? Is it fair to the victim's loved ones to give him the right to roam around like nothing happened? What sort of thing could count as "reparations" in Voyager's situation? What if they really had been stranded with him for 75 years? Would he ever have been able to move on from what he did? What sort of hobbies might he take up in his new life? What would it take to win Janeway's trust? Would the victim's friends ever forgive him? Would he rather disembark the ship and start anew somewhere, or remain with his own people? Would he have been able to make new friends? Are you reading this string of questions in Jonathan Frakes's voice too? Would our main characters all have been able to get past his actions? Would it cause disagreements? How would his relationship with Tuvok have progressed? What issues would their getting back to Earth early raise for him? ... Aaaaand then the show decided to give us none of that😂 (well. except for Jonathan Frakes in a brief cameo that is :D) As for Seska I really don't know what they were thinking with her lol. She starts off as such a promising villain- literally the "reveal" in 'State of Flux' gives me chills! And you can actually understand her actions, her unexpected attachments to Chakotay and the crew. Instead of the whole pregnancy subplot (which made no sense) I would've loved to have seen her grow increasingly afraid she'd made a mistake in teaming up with the Kazon, and try to defect back to Voyager - the questions that would raise would be similar to Suder's, though in this case a bit more personal for characters like Chakotay and B'Elanna. Is she for real? Is she just doing this to trick them again? How do the Bajoran crew members feel about this? What would it take for her to win back people's trust? Say she does something messed up again, does she get a third chance? Would she make friends with Seven of Nine; someone she never personally betrayed who is also seeking redemption for past actions? Society if we'd gotten her as a regular character all the way till S7 - like an actually great redemption arc, where she ends up on good terms with a lot of them by the end (sort of like what they did with Garak on DS9) - ahhh the possibilities!!!

43. Order of shows from most to least favorite?

This is hard😅 okay I'm going to tier rank them that's easier!

Fav tier: DS9 (It's the best <3) Second tier: TNG (I can't not put it here this show literally changed my life) & VOY (has wonderful characters and has also become very important to me) Third tier: TOS movies (love them), Discovery (I have developed a nostalgia for it by now. Plus Michael is blorbo!) Fourth tier: TOS, SNW, Enterprise, Lower Decks (shows I've enjoyed but only really seen once so far) and I guess the AOS movies lol (imo 'Beyond' is the best one) Fifth tier: Picard (if it was just the first season it would've been higher! I actually liked that one) & the TNG movies (ugh) (I am yet to see TAS and Prodigy)
