Angel Wings
(Please remember this is a first draft, so keep that in mind while reading!)
Violet Davius had finally wore the school board down enough to let them have a Halloween dance their senior year, something that hasn't happened since the 1980s. And everyone's going to be there!
Including Rena Addams, a rather shy girl with a big crush on a certain head cheerleader. And unaware the feelings are mutual. Maybe they'll be able to get closer during the dance!
But they also find that maybe there was a reason the school hadn't had a Halloween dance in so long...
First / Current / Next
~Chapter 2
October 31 8:00 pm: Halloween Night~
Violet Davius glances around the gymnasium, already having been there much earlier than she needed to be. But she was part of the planning committee along with the rest of the cheerleaders. She wrangled her friend group into getting ready a little earlier than necessary and to the school just to make sure everything was set up perfectly.
After all, it was a hassle to get the school to even agree to this Halloween party. The school hadn’t had a Halloween dance since the 1980s and it sounded so fun. No one was sure why, but the school board and principal were adamant about no Halloween dance until she wore them down enough to agree. She’s glad she did.
This looks amazing. And her classmates should be arriving any minute now.
“You’ve really outdone yourself this time,” Abbey claims, heels clicking against the gymnasium floor. The fringe of her “flapper” dress swishes at every movement. Jack bounds up to wrap an arm around Abbey, messing with the neckline of his suit shirt and jacket.
“Yeah. Nice setup you’ve got here,” he agrees, nodding along.
“Thanks, but we all set it up,” Violet smiles. “So we all did good.”
Violet glances around again, looking satisfied with what they turned the gym into. Six of the school’s round tables draped in black and orange table cloth line the edges of the room, a jack-o-lantern placed in the middle of each with a small candy bowl. Black and orange streamers and balloons are also everywhere. There’s a photobooth in one corner with borrowed hay bales and pumpkins against a black backdrop with a “Happy Halloween” streamer behind it. There’s a DJ set up on the stage and movie monster cutouts that the art kids made underneath that.
“This does look amazing,” Violet smiles proudly. She then looks back at her friends, eyeing their costumes. “Nice costumes. A flapper and a mobster, right?”
“Yup!” Abbey smiles, twisting her hips to make the fringe fly while Jack just tips his fedora. “Jack actually came up with the idea!”
Jack chuckles bashfully, rubbing the back of his neck.
“Only because I watched a mob movie,” he mumbles. Abbey rolls her eyes at that, then looks over Violet’s draping white dress and fluffy wings.
“Nice angel costume by the way,” she nods in approval. “Did you make those wings yourself?”
“Yup!” Violet smiles, glancing back at the things. “I didn’t like any of the store bought ones. This dress was a nice find too. I found it at a thrift shop.”
“Nice,” Violet nods. She then smirks, leaning in a little closer to her red-headed friend. Her voice turns a little more teasing with her next words. “By the way, I heard Rena’s coming too.”
“Really?” Violet perks up, glancing at the girl with wide eyes. Abbey nods with a smug look. Though Violet deflates again as another thought hits her. “She’s going to be coming with Briar, isn’t she?”
“Yeah, but that doesn’t matter,” Abbey waves off with a smile.
“Aren’t they dating though?” Jack asks, looking at his girlfriend in confusion.
“No, they’re just friends,” Abbey replies, smacking him lightly in the chest. “Keep up, Sweetie.”
“Well then, you can ask her to dance,” Jack offers, looking back at Violet.
“She doesn’t like me though,” Violet sighs, frowning as she watches people migrate in through the door.
“Don’t say that!” Abbey chides, making Violet look back at her. “She’s just a little shy, everyone knows that! You haven’t really tried either.”
“I’ve tried talking to her before and failed miserably,” Violet grumbles, crossing her arms.
“That’s because you chicken out at the last minute,” Abbey teases, poking Violet’s rosy cheek. “Try actually talking to her tonight.”
“Ask her for a dance, then sweep her off her feet. You can do it,” Jack encourages with an award winning smile. “She won’t be able to resist your charm.”
“Thanks guys,” Violet smiles.
“Oh! There’s the girl of honor now,” Abbey smiles, looking over towards the door.
“What?” Violet panics, looking towards the entrance herself.
And there, brushing through the black and orange streamers, is Rena Addams, the one Violet’s been crushing on since middle school. Violet’s cheeks redden as she glances over Rena’s costume, bringing a hand up to cover her face. Even with the makeup covering most of her skin and the messy way her brown hair had been styled, she still looks radiant. That wedding dress hugging her body perfectly and the veil falling around her stunningly, even if they are a mess.
“Oh, look, she’s even dressed for your wedding,” Abbey teases, elbowing Violet who’s just staring open mouthed.
“Are they supposed to be a zombie couple or something?” Jack asks, looking over the two. The three watch as Briar pulls Rena over to get in line for the photobooth. “Briar looks normal though. You sure they’re not dating?”
“I’m sure. They’re really not helping that rumor though,” Abbey sighs. She then looks back at Violet, bringing a hand up to close her mouth. “Violet, are you just going to stare all night or…?”
“I can’t talk to her while she’s like that!” Violet squeaks. “She’s too… too hot!”
“Girl, get a grip,” Abbey sighs, shaking her head. Violet just whines, burying her red face in her hands.
______
“It’s a good turnout,” Rena comments, glancing around the gym. “I think most of our class is here.”
“Yeah,” Briar agrees, nodding along as she goes for some of the candy set out. “I didn’t expect like half of them to show.”
Rena just hums in agreement, still glancing around. Her eyes then land on Violet Davius and her friends. She eyes the flowing white dress with long bell sleeves that Violet’s wearing along with some fluffy white wings and a halo. Though her face is in her hands and her friends are looking both amused and exasperated.
“Violet’s here,” Rena points out, looking over the red head’s costume again.
“Not surprising. She set up this whole thing after all,” Briar shrugs, handing over some candy. She then straightens from her pillaging of the candy bowl. “I doubt she’s going to try and come over.”
“Yeah,” Rena sighs, popping a piece of candy into her mouth.
“Come on, let's go dance for a little bit,” Briar smiles, pulling Rena more out onto the dance floor. She laughs and goes along with it.

Chapter 13: It's Not Over Yet
The chapter opens to Shugo flashing back to his meeting with Aura. Waking up, he thinks he sees Aura but it's Zafie, surprise surprise. Spotting Rena, he confirms with her that the two have not been deleted. Then, Rena cries. She's sick of it, being treated as a criminal, being thrown in jail, her poor treatment by the admins...she is not having a good one. According to Shugo, Rena is a "good kid"; she's not used to being in trouble. Shugo tries to calmly reassure her that her big brother's with her so nothing bad's gonna happen but Rena shouts back that the very act of being imprisoned is disgraceful. They will be crucified on the messageboards, rumors will be spread with no easy way to disprove them, everybody in the nation of Japan will mock the two teens who won prized character models in a vr game and promptly got jailed for using a banned item they found through a legitimate sub quest.
Rena is starting to regret winning the character models in the first place, much to Shugo's shock. Rena really did want to become like her heroes, the [.hackers] but now...
A pissed Shugo points out the very real fact that they're not just being grounded, they were literally imprisoned without trial. Where the hell is the real law in this game? He's about to contact the administrators since at the point, things can't get any worse but Rena has had enough. Believing her character is as good as deleted, Rena prepares to log out.
Meanwhile, Reki and Balmung are doing fucking research.
youtube
(Sorry for the video quality. I don't get a chance to use this song that often.)
Reki is passing out but he wants to keep working. Balmung (t)asks him to delete all logs related to his character from the game, a task Reki confidently accepts. Now, Balmung will stop administrating files...and start administrating his enemies asses because Balmung of Azure Sky has returned!
Back to the twins, Shugo tries to talk Rena out of logging out but she's made up her mind. She's happy she got to play but she's done. Instead of pressing further, Shugo simply thanks her for introducing the game to him. He got to fight, meet people, meet Zafie...Zafie was a bonus because she reminded him of when he used to look after Rena when she was younger. He apologizes for not being able to protect her and for not being able to let her keep having a good time. His one regret is that his sister could end up hating the World that brought so much joy into his life.
It's then that Zafie holds Rena's hand. Shugo says it's because Zafie doesn't want Rena to disappear. Oh sweetie, no...it's to keep her still so that Zafie can fucking uppercut that bitch into the ceiling. Zafie wanted to knock some sense into her for giving up so easily. Rena gets up, ruffled but unhurt and threatens to snitch to Aura about what Zafie did. It appears violence does solve everything because Rena changes her mind about logging out, remembering how Shugo has always looked after her and decides to stay and become strong.
First thing's first: how to get out of that cell. Rena asks Zafie if she can do anything and Zafie literally just fucking deletes the bars. Maybe there's a reason the Knights are so gung-ho about killing bugs...also, she could do that the whole time?! Anyway, the chapter ends with Shugo ready to mount a counterattack...
Tumblr media
THOUGHTS
Surprised that there's a sibling focused chapter with barely any subtext (the thank you scene could be said to be framed romantically but that can be ignored or simply explained away as being dramatic.) I got my wish: Rena's gonna get stronger after hitting her nadir and Balmung's about to fuck shit up. Things get better and better.

Strike Back trailer analysis
But make it a little bit funny and crazy
(I'm gonna skip all the Risk clips for obvious reasons)
Okay, first of all, can we talk about the magnificent instrumental of this trailer, please?! The way the music grows perfectly adapts to the succession of the events!
And the animation! It's a blessing to my eyes! SAMG's hand is evident here. I could stare at this trailer for hours just to spot all the little details!
Tumblr media
Look at that lighting, it's so warm and at the same time tragic. In one word: EPIC!
It perfectly represents the sunset of an era (which it is, I guess).
Yes sweetie, punch that thing for all of us. I just hope it won't go crazy like when Chat Noir uses his Cataclysm on Sentimonsters.
Tumblr media
Well, forget it. It seems that Strike Back can copy/absorb the powers, because right after that, we see him punch with the same visual effect as the power of the tiger. This would also explain why later in the trailer we see 3 Strike Backs, it must have absorbed the power of the mouse too!
Tumblr media
More informations about the powers!
Seems like:
Carapace can throw his Shell-ter!
Polymouse can multiply in different sizes!
Tumblr media
Also, what is the little Froggy doing with our superheroes?
Did they realize that everyone is taking a little too much risk and started looking for the culprit? Or did they find him by chance?
Tumblr media
I love the way the Sentimonster seems to trick Chat Noir in order to voluntarily touch his Cataclysm and cause much more chaos!
They're getting smarter!
I'm scared though... If Strike Back can absorb the powers... imagine what it can do with the power of the Cataclysm?
Tumblr media
Okay, unpopular opinion here, but I don't like her suit design, sorry.
Anyway, she's unifying 3 Miraculouses! I'm going to call her PegaBunBug.
OMG what if unifying these 3 powers allows her to travel in spacetime and reach alternative universes?! (I saw that before in a Fanfiction series: "Storm verse" by SailorChibi on Ao3)
Tumblr media
What a cute cousins reunion here. He's definitely Felix wearing the dog miraculous (we can see Rena Furtive as well in the same scene, so he's not wearing the fox miraculous, the first one I thought when I saw the orange suit).
The question is: is Ladybug aware that he's Felix and not Adrien?
Also, they're all wearing Lucky Charm sunglasses. It's the lighting the result of a sort of eclipse?
Tumblr media
Look at them falling!
Rena Furtive and Carapace supporting each other!
Almost-pancake Ryuko! (thanks Minotaurox for saving her).
And Vesperia checking Tigresse Pourpre's heartbeat! (I know she's not actually checking her heartbeat, but one can dream)
Tumblr media
I bet Ladybug is blushing here because she panicked and demoralized, as she always does when things get really bad, and Chat Noir gave one of his heart-to-heart "it's you and me against the world" speeches that will leave us drowning in our tears. Plus, it's raining. And we all know that rain always accompany emotional moments in this show.
And Ladybug's tear that flies away? As if to symbolize that she is putting aside her fears!
*incomprehensible screams*

Queen Bee: So let me get this straight: Shadow Moth created a Sentimonster that looked just like you, went to school that day while you were sick, grabbed an Akuma from the air, and made it look like you were willingly working with him.
Adam: *currently tied up by Queen Bee and being watched by the other heroes* Well, if you say it like that, it doesn't sound believable, does it?
Queen Bee: *groans in frustration as Ladybug and Panthera come back from recharging*
Panthera: How's Adam doing?
Queen Bee: He still won't tell us anything about Shadow Moth.
Ladybug: *sighs* Keep at it for a few more minutes, then let him go before people notice what she's doing here.
Queen Bee: Got it.
Panthera: Hey, I didn't have time to say it earlier, but nice job stunning him earlier.
Queen Bee: Oh... *smiles at the praise* Thanks, Mom. *all the other heroes (and Adam) stare at her* Why is everyone staring at me?
Rena Rouge: You just called Panthera Noire "Mom." You said, "Thanks, Mom."
Queen Bee: *clearly in disbelief* What? No, I didn't. I said, "Thanks, Noire."
Panthera: Do you see me as a mother figure, Queen Bee?
Queen Bee: *starts blushing a little* No! If anything, I see you as a smother figure, because you're always smothering me with compliments my real mother has obviously given me before!
Ladybug: Hey! Show your mom some respect!
Queen Bee: I didn't call her "Mom"!
Panthera: *with a smirk on her face* No, no, no, no, Queen Bee, I see it as a compliment.
Carapace: It's not a big deal. I called Rena Rouge "Mom" once, and she's my girlfriend.
Queen Bee: Guys, jump on that! Carapace has psycho-sexual issues!
Pigella: Old news. But you calling Panthera "Mommy"...
Queen Bee: *as her blush intensifies* Hey, "Mommy" is not on the table here!
Adam: *trying not to laugh* But you did call her "Mom", though.
Queen Bee: You shut up! You've done nothing but lie since we de-evilized you!
Adam: All right, all right, I was lying about the Akuma, but the Mom thing, that happened.
Queen Bee: AHA! He admitted that he was lying. It was a trap, all part of my crazy, devious plan! *the other heroes look at her in disbelief*
Panthera: I believe you...
Queen Bee: Thank you!
Panthera: *barely hiding a grin* Sweetie.
*Queen Bee's blush becomes as red as Ladybug's suit*
Panthera: Do you want to talk about it later over a game of catch?
Queen Bee: *trying not to cry at the offer* I'd like that...

Ok now that ive calmed down, can we talk about how absolutely amazing this episode was?
(Highlights and comments under cut because it is LONG)
1. Alya and Mari figuring out the secrets of the miraculous ✨together✨
2. Mari’s first reaction being to support Kagami and the show telling us that they won’t forget her or her friendship with Marinette
3. Follow up to #2: we got this which was absolutely adorable
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(They’re so chaotic I love them)
4. Now’s a good time to mention how ON POINT the animation was because WOW
5. THIS ENTIRE SEQUENCE
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Clownery like this is the true essence of rhe lovesquare no i will not take criticism)
6. My literal shock and laughter at the two randos Rena used to be ladybug and chat noir..... that was so funny to me
7. THE FACT THAT ALYA WAS THE ONE TO FIGURE OUT THE BOOK THAT WAS AMAZING
8. MARINETTE AND HER POWER UP!!!! AND SHE HAD SPARKLE EYES!!!!
9. Here I should mention Mr. Ramier was a sweetie and I loved him
10. BUT OF COURSE, OF COURSE THE HIGHLIGHT OF THIS EPISODE 👏🏼 WAS 👏🏼 THE 👏🏼 UMBRELLA 👏🏼 SCENE 👏🏼
I ALREADY MADE A POST ABOUT IT BUT OH WOW AM I STILL CRYING
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just some highlights, of course, but every breathing moment of this was amazing
11. And finally, shipping and plot and clownery aside, I think the thing I like the most this episode was seeing our marinette, who has been so stressed this entire season, who just broke up, had the world’s biggest responsibility laid upon her, and has had her world turned upside down, being able to still dance in the rain
Tumblr media
Favorite episode of season 4 so far hands down. I’m not ready for what the rest of this season brings us, but so far I’ve had no complaints and I don’t think I will survive it
Thank you and goodnight

Marinette Dupain-Cheng’s Spite Playlist: Remix CH7
Happy Valentine’s weekend, my dears! To make up for missing last week, I’m sharing two chapters today. Maybe if you’re all really good, and I have time I’ll share chapter 8 on Sunday. That’s where the fun begins ;) Are you ready for it?

Chapter 7: Shake It Out
My dear sweet Marinette,
How are you, my fairy? I hope that this letter finds you well. When you backpack over Russian mountains, you take whatever mail service you can get. I have so much to tell you about my latest trip, but first I have some exciting news for you!
During my last stay in Africa volunteering to build homes in a humble little village, I ran into a sweet little fairy by the name of Clara Nightingale. She says she met you! Did you know she’s a famous pop star? Anyway, she and I spent a lot of quality time together teaching young children how to read, and I showed her the scarf you knitted me for Christmas. She loved it! She says she will be in Paris again on the 18th and wanted to meet with you about designing for her, so I gave her the address to the bakery. She said she would stop by and see you.
“No way, no way, no way!” Marinette shrieked, kicking her feet. “Clara Nightingale wants me to design for her! I’m gonna faint.”
“This is an amazing opportunity for you, Marinette,” Tikki said as Marinette paced the floor, hugging the letter. “Tomorrow could change your life!”
“I know, Tikki! I’m so excited to- wait.” She stopped abruptly. “Tomorrow?”
“The letter said the 18th,” Tikki said, and Marinette raced over to pull down her calendar. “Isn’t that-”
“Tomorrow! Clara Nightingale is coming to my house. Tomorrow. To look at my designs!” Marinette clutched her cheeks as rapid breaths shook her shoulders. Tikki covered her ears as another scream emitted from Marinette’s throat. “This is a dream come true, Tikki!”
“It’s not that surprising. Gabriel Agreste liked your designs, and Clara attended the show, so it’s not like she’s unfamiliar with your work.” Tikki pointed out. “Plus, you’ve designed for Jagged before too.”
“I know, but getting commissioned by celebrities at 14 isn’t something you just get used to.” Marinette fell onto her chaise with a sigh. “I can’t wait to tell Macy, Eliott, and Martin! They’re gonna freak out.”
“What are you going to do about Chloe?”
Marinette waved it away, reading over the letter again. “I’m going to ignore her. She has no power over me.”
“True…” Tikki said. “But she did have a point. You always look out for your friends.”
“Yeah, but how many of those ‘friends’ came to visit me when I left?” Marinette said pointedly.
“Is that why you left? To see who would come?”
Marinette set the letter down and pursed her lips. “That’s one reason. I wanted to get away, but I also wanted to see who my real friends are,” she said. “I wanted to see who cared enough to chase after me, and I guess Adrien is the only real friend I had after all. Funny how I spent all that time hoping he would notice me when in reality, he’s always been on my side.”
“He thinks really highly of you.” Tikki flitted over to rest beside her.
“I know. My heart was beating so fast when he said those things earlier. Do you think it means he likes me?” Marinette smiled up at her ceiling, biting her lip.
“It definitely means he knows how amazing you are, and I’m sure you can catch his attention romantically too. Especially now that you two are hanging out so much,” Tikki said.
“I feel like all of my dreams are coming true.” Marinette buried her face in the throw pillow with a squeak.
“With everything you give to the city, I think you deserve it,” Tikki said.
“Well, one thing is for sure, I need to defeat Hawkmoth before I become a famous fashion designer and go to New York. That’s priority number one. Chat Noir, Rena- oh-” Marinette sat up abruptly.
“What’s the matter?”
“Well, Alya and Nino are Rena Rouge and Carapace, but after everything… I don’t know if I still trust them,” she said. “I don’t doubt that they would help Ladybug, but if I know who they are, then it might affect me. Do you think I made a mistake picking people close to me?”
“I think that’s a question for someone with more experience picking.” Tikki advised.
Marinette drummed her fingers on her thigh. “You’re right, Tikki. Let’s go.”
Master Fu was playing cards with Wayzz when Marinette knocked on the door and poked her head in. “Master?”
“Marinette, what brings you here?” He lowered his hand calmly.
“I could use some advice. Do you have a minute?”
Wayzz peeked over his cards with a huff. “We are in the middle of a game,” he said matter-of-factly, but Master Fu cast him a sly smile.
“It’s okay.” He splayed his royal flush for Wayzz to see. “I was just winning. What is on your mind?”
Marinette sat on the mat, hugging her knees to her chest as Wayzz zipped off grumpily. Taking a deep breath, she dove in, sparing no details—Volpina, Lila, her friends, changing schools, leaving Alya. Everything. Master Fu listened patiently while she talked, sipping his tea thoughtfully every now and then.
“I’m sorry, Master, but I think I made a mistake picking my friends to be Rena Rouge and Carapace.” She finished, head hanging low. “I don’t think I’m fit to choose our partners anymore.”
“Marinette,” Master Fu said with one of his kind, grandfatherly smiles. “We cannot blame ourselves for the actions of others. Your friends have made choices outside of your control. That does not mean that your judgment was lacking when you picked them. People change, and that is no one’s fault, just the natural order of things.”
“So, you won’t be mad if I pick someone else next time I need help?” Marinette glanced up at him like a small child waiting to be scolded.
“You must pick allies you can trust—whoever that happens to be in the moment,” he said.
“Thank you, Master.” Her shoulders relaxed. “Sorry to interrupt your game.”
“It’s okay. I have a large lead on Wayzz.” He chuckled. “Come back anytime.”
“I will. And next time, I’ll choose people I know I can count on.”

“You’re in an awfully good mood,” Macy remarked as Marinette took her seat in home room.
“Did something good happen? Spill!” Eliott leaned in.
Marinette glanced around the room to ensure their classmates couldn’t hear them. “Can you two keep a secret?”
“Oh, if there’s anything we aristocrats know how to do, it’s keep secrets.” Eliott assured her.
“Yeah, you’re our friend now. You can count on us.” Macy echoed with an encouraging nod.
Marinette bit her lip, leaning in close to whisper, “Clara Nightingale wants me to design for her.”
“No way!” Eliott gasped.
“Marinette, that’s huge.” Macy squealed before regaining her composure. “Don’t worry. We will totally keep it on the down-low, but I can’t wait to see the look on Gabrielle’s face when it goes public.”
“Pretty soon you’ll be buying your own yacht, Marinette,” Eliott said with a laugh. “Speaking of, you still need to see mine.”
“Oh, and we should totally have tea at my house! We just had the theater redone,” Macy added.
“I’d love to,” Marinette said. “Clara is supposed to come over today, so I’ll tell you how it goes.”
“We want all of the details tomorrow,” Macy said as Mr. Mercier entered the room and called for everyone to settle down. “We can rendezvous at my place this weekend.”
“Sounds good.”
When school ended, Marinette rushed home, a giddy smile tugging at her cheeks. What type of design would Clara want? A dress? Or maybe a tasteful pantsuit? Her mind was already buzzing with ideas. Hopefully, she didn’t mess everything up. What if she designed something, and Clara hated it? Or worse what if Audrey Bourgeois slammed her design in the next issue of her magazine because she refused to help Chloe? Then it could ruin Clara’s career, and it would be all Marinette’s fault!
“Hi, sweetie. How was school?” her mom greeted when she entered the bakery.
“Fine, except I have no talent, and I’m going to ruin Clara Nightingale,” she said.
“That’s not true. My daughter has all the talent in the world. She can do anything!” Her dad scooped her into a tight hug. “After all, she comes by it naturally.” He gestured to a large wedding cake resting in the back.
“You’re just nervous, sweetie. You’re going to be great,” her mom said.
The bell above the door chimed, and a woman wearing a hat and sunglasses entered. Marinette’s father put her down and resumed his post in the back while her mother returned to the cash register.
“Welcome! What can we get for you today?” her mom asked politely.
“What I’m after isn’t a sweet treat; there’s someone here I want to meet.” She lowered her sunglasses to peek over at Marinette. “It’s been some time since we’ve seen one another, but your designs are truly like no other.”
“Clara Nightingale! You’re here!” Marinette gasped.
“I want to ask you a request of mine. I’ll run it by you if you’ve got time.”
“Yes, I have so much time!” Marinette said, then composing herself, gestured to the back door. “Why don’t we chat upstairs?”
“Fine by me. This request is top secret, you see,” Clara said. She followed Marinette up to the apartment, and once they were safely away from the public eye, she removed her disguise with a sigh of relief. “Thank you for meeting with me. I assume you read your grandmother’s letter.”
“I did. It arrived yesterday.” Marinette nodded, putting on a pot of tea.
“Excellent! Then you know why I’m here.”
Marinette turned and found herself face-to-face with Clara, nearly dropping the teabags in surprise.
“Ever since I met you, I felt a connection between us like our destinies were entwined. I loved the hat you designed for Adrien, and Jagged has only ever told me great things about you. Then of course, Gina’s scarf was to die for, so, Marinette Dupain-Cheng, would you be willing to design for me?” Clara dropped onto one knee.
“Doesn’t Gabriel Agreste usually design your clothes? Wouldn’t you rather see a professional?” Marinette asked.
“Gabriel’s designs are wonderful, but I think you can capture my essence for this. I’ve been nominated for a music award, and I want you to design my dress for the ceremony.” Clara took her hands with a confident smile. “You and I are both passionate about our crafts, and I think you can bring something that Gabriel can’t, so what do you say?”
Clara’s gaze bore into hers hopefully, and Marinette shifted her weight. “I’ll do my best.” Marinette gulped, and Clara bounced in delight.
“Thank you, Marinette! This favor is one I won’t forget!” Clara pulled her in for a tight hug. “Your willingness means so much, and very soon I’ll be in touch.”
Clara trotted out the door happily, hat and sunglasses in hand, leaving Marinette standing in the kitchen, stunned. She blinked out of her trance when the teapot on the stove screeched and set it aside, barely capable of containing her smile.
She couldn’t wait to tell her friends this.
♪♫♪ I’d Love to Break It to You ♪♫♪
Adrien removed his fencing gloves with a sigh. Another long day of watching Lila manipulate everyone. Even he had to admit it was getting old, especially since Nino spent most of his free time helping Alya with her deputy duties, which were really Lila’s class representative duties that she came up with excuses to get out of.
He ripped open his locker and tossed the gloves into his bag, thinking back to Marinette’s anguished sobs the previous evening. Seeing her so upset was nauseating in a way Adrien had never felt before. Maybe it was because Marinette was always positive and upbeat, doing her best to help others even when she had problems of her own. Someone like her being so broken and hurt was painful to watch. He wanted to help her in some way, but how could he? He could barely stand up to Chloe, let alone Lila.
“Why the long face?” Kagami’s voice startled him.
He turned to face her as she leaned against the locker next to his.
“Just tired.” He slung his bag over one shoulder with a shrug.
“You’ve been like this for the past week,” she remarked as he paced up the aisle toward the door. “Ever since Marinette left.”
“It’s been a long week. I’ve had a lot going on,” he said flatly.
“You miss her.”
Adrien stopped short at the end of the row and glanced back at Kagami over one shoulder. “Why wouldn’t I? She’s my friend.”
Kagami shoved away from the locker, approaching him slowly—lithe like a cat stalking her prey. “I wonder why she left so suddenly. Rumor has it that she had a jealousy spat with that Italian girl in your class,” Kagami said. “What was her name again? Lie-la?”
“Yeah,” Adrien said curtly, adjusting the strap of his bag.
“She sure has everyone enamored.” Kagami paused beside him and cocked a hip. “Well, almost everyone.”
“Why do you care?” Adrien’s eyes narrowed.
“I don’t.” She shrugged.
“So why bring it up?”
“Because you and I both know the truth, and I suspect Marinette does too.” She tilted her chin to meet his gaze. “She’s a liar.”
Adrien let out a breath, the stiffness in his shoulders fading. “How’d you find out?”
“She claimed that her great grandfather was a world-champion fencer who invented a secret technique, but my family has held the championship title for the last six generations,” Kagami said. “Plus, her stories are so obviously farfetched and self-congratulating.”
“Tell that to everyone else,” he grumbled.
“It’s not really my place. I don’t even go here.” Kagami shrugged again. “Besides, to everyone here, I’m just the ice queen.”
“So, you’re stuck with this knowledge too.” Adrien deflated with a sigh.
“After what happened with Marinette, I have no interest in confronting her. If your classmates want to be sheep, I say let them,” she said. “No sense in letting it upset you. They could easily figure it out if they applied an ounce of brain power.”
“Well, yeah, but she’s using all of them. I thought her lies were harmless, but she has everyone bending over backwards to help her. Now Marinette left the school hurt… I’m starting to get a little fed up.” Adrien averted his gaze, the wave of nausea returning to his stomach.
“So, call her out then,” Kagami said as if it were obvious. “People trust your word, and you have enough celebrity pull to prove it.”
“Yeah, but…” He winced.
“Adrien, your friends will only continue to suffer if you stay silent. Action is the only way to help them.” When he lowered his head, she rolled her eyes and pushed past him. “I hope your friends see the light eventually. For your sake. See you tomorrow.”
Adrien’s hands clenched into fists as she sauntered from the locker room, biting his tongue as anger swelled in his chest. Letting out a heated breath, he stalked toward the door, blinking in surprise when it opened.
Lila stepped in front of him and wasted no time latching onto his neck. “Adrien, you’ve been avoiding me,” she said with her sugary-sweet lilt. “You promised to help me catch up on my school work.”
“Sorry. I don’t think I can. Why don’t you ask Max?” He unhooked her arms and pushed her away gently.
“But you promised!” She pouted.
Her whiny tone sent a shiver down his spine, and he tried unsuccessfully to mask his grimace. “I’ve got a lot going on, Lila. Photoshoots, private lessons, that sort of stuff.” He took a purposeful step away from her.
“You seem to have enough time to go visit Marinette,” she said pointedly, crossing her arms over her chest. “Don’t think I haven’t noticed.”
“Lila-”
“She’s the one who’s lying, ya know. I’m sure she has told you all kinds of nasty things about me, but they’re false,” Lila said. “She’s just trying to turn you against me because she’s jealous.”
“That’s not true, Lila.” Adrien’s anger boiled hotter. “Marinette just wants to move on.”
“Is that why she went to Jagged Stone’s concert just to try to make me look bad?”
“No, that’s not-”
“Alya is still upset over their fight. Marinette ripped her heart out and stomped on it.”
“There’s more to it than tha-”
“Honestly, Marinette is the worst person I’ve ever met.”
Something in Adrien’s chest snapped—a rubber band stretched too far.
“How do I know when I should stand up for myself?”
“I get a feeling in my gut that it’s the right thing to do.”
“Enough, Lila!” he shouted.
She flinched, cupping her hands over her mouth. “Adrien, I-”
“Your lies won’t work on me, and sooner or later everyone else is going to see through you too, and you’ll be left all alone. Is that what you want?” He barely gave her a moment to respond before continuing. “Marinette poured her heart and soul into her friends. She made sacrifices for them and never once asked for anything in return, and now you’ve gone and turned her best friend against her and convinced everyone that she just wanted attention. If anyone here is a terrible person, it’s you.”
Lila’s face hardened, her whole countenance darkening. “I see how it is, Adrien.” Her jaw clenched. “If you choose to side with her over me, then I can’t help what happens to you. I own this school now, and there’s nothing you or Marinette can do about it.”
Turning over her shoulder, she slapped Adrien with her hair on her way out, and he balled his hands into tight fists. A feeling he’d never felt before bubbled in his core that made him restless. Adrien always thought Lila just wanted attention, but purposefully targeting one of his friends was not okay.
A new resolve came over him, and he instructed Gorilla to make a pitstop at the Grand Paris on the way home. His fist pounded against the suite door, breaths short and hot.
Chloe was lounging in a yellow bathrobe, feet soaking in a tub of water when her butler let him in. She raised an eyebrow as he entered. “You know I’m always happy to see you, Adrikins, but I’m in the middle of an herbal soak-”
“I want to help you take down Lila.” He cut her off.
A sinister smirk spread across Chloe’s lips, her shock fading to triumphant glee.
“Excellent.”

Hey, if you're still wanting for prompts, I think I have one So, Sabine is sick and tired of seeing only two out of the whole group of heroes being efficient rather than doing things to only mess up the plan so everyone gets beaten up Doesn't help that Ladybug has pigtails that remind her of her own baby So she goes public, claiming to go on a manhunt for Hawkmoth, she works with the two heroes tirelessly and they find him in 3 months. Got this idea inspired from @miraculous-saltybug
A Mother And Her Instincts
Masterlist
"Miraculous Ladybug!"
An army of spotted insects bloomed into existence in the sky, before whirling about the carnage below. Upturned cars became righted. Slumped bodies gained a heartbeat. Injuries sewed themselves shut.
Chat Noir held his arms out for Ladybug to fall into, just as she toppled back from exhaustion. Bruises marred her cheekbones - cuts lay across her skin.
The male let out a choked gasp. "Princess..." he breathed.
She let herself take in a raspy breath. "I'm fine, Kitty."
As soon as the words had escaped her mouth, a swarm of bugs whirled and encased her in a pink glow. They soon revealed her again, but this time with no harm apparent.
"My Lady, no you aren't!" he exclaimed, whilst standing up with her in his arms. "You could've died! Don't you know how serious that is?"
Marinette's answer was interrupted by her sudden urge to cough, and when she did, the one holding her close grimaced. "I thought you said that you were better."
"What? Of course I am-"
"Ladybug."
She pursed her lips, glancing to the side. "Chat, you were in trouble. You know that I can't deal with you getting hurt."
"Yes, but-"
The beeps that emanated from both him and his partner cut him off. He sighed, saying, "I'll get their miraculous."
Her brows furrowed. "But I thought that they were going to be permanent holders?"
"Princess..." he started. "Didn't you see what happened earlier? Rena was the reason why you were so hurt in the first place. I-I don't think that she would make a good Fox in the future if she's the opposite of that now."
Ladybug's eyes softened at his worried tone. She leant her head against his chest. "I...maybe you're right," she whispered, though it was easy to hear thanks to his improved senses.
Chat Noir smiled gently at her. He readied himself to take off. However, what he didn't notice before doing so was the dark-haired woman watching them intently from a nearby balcony.
Her hands gripped tightly to its railings.
~*~*~
"Goodbye, Nadja."
Sabine Cheng ended the call, as she placed her phone on a counter beside her. Nimble fingers picked up a nearby glass, and brought it up to chapped lips.
"Honey!"
She raised a brow at the voice from the kitchen. After finishing her long sip of water, she responded aloud, "Yes, Tom?"
"Would you do me a favour and tell Marinette to come down for dinner? She isn't saying anything!"
Though her husband couldn't see, she nodded, making her way over to her daughter's bedroom. Her steps barely made a whisper of noise as she climbed up the stairs leading to the hatch.
"Marinette?" Sabine called, knocking lightly on the trapdoor. A few seconds of silence passed, and she couldn't help the way that her motherly instincts caused her to tense. She repeated, "Marinette? Sweetie, I'm coming in."
There was a quiet creak as she opened up the entrance to the room. The woman poked her head in, eyes scanning about. After a moment of deliberation, she chose to finally come forward.
The angle of her vision allowed her to see the fabric scraps strewn about the floor. The designs stuck to the walls. The mannequins donning half-finished attire around.
But also the chaise - which she realised to have two occupants laying on it.
Her lips parted in surprise, however she quickly covered them to muffle her gasp. With wide eyes, she came closer to the two people. Two teens.
Chat Noir had his body snuggled into the form of Marinette, who herself was snoring along with him. One of her hands was buried inside his nest of wild blond hair, while in contact with his pinned cat ears. The boy's tail happened to be wrapped around her leg.
A flash of blue caught Sabine's attention, and before she knew what she was doing, her hand had already reached out. It wiped away the dried tears clinging to Chat Noir's cheeks.
"Oh, you poor child," she cooed, watching as he leaned into her touch. "You're so young to be dealing with all of this."
She exited the room with a determined expression, returning a minute later with a plate of treats and a blanket in her grip. The mother planted a kiss on her daughter's forehead, as she delicately cocooned them both with the cloth. A purr rumbled in Chat Noir's chest.
That was when her eyes paused on the clawed hand that was flopped at the side of the chaise. It was gripping tightly to a pair of crimson hair ties, that were awfully familar.
Her suspicions of who they belonged to were confirmed when seeing that Marinette had her locks out - wavy and flowing.
Sabine clenched her fists.
Thoughts of bloody murder rushed through her mind.
~*~*~
"Nadja! I have an announcement to make!"
"Sabine, what-"
Sabine grabbed the microphone from the reporter's hands, holding it up to her face. Her tired pants were heard from the excursion of having to run so far.
"I know that you're watching this, Hawk Moth," she spoke in a stern tone - one that commanded respect. "And I have to say something very important."
She inhaled in preparation. "You have forced two innocent teenagers to bear the weight of saving Paris thanks to your selfish goals. You want to know how I feel about that?"
Her voice trailed off into a growl, laced with frustration. Just as she was about to carry on, there was a chorus of gasps by the civilians around. A tingle was felt at her fingertips that were touching the microphone in her grasp.
"Verity Queen, I am-"
"Hawk Moth," she snarled. "If you know what's good for you, I suggest you cut off the connection this very instant, unless you want me to call a manhunt to: Find. Your. Head."
Everyone around waited with baited breath - shocked expressions on their faces. A tense second passed, until all of a sudden, a butterfly materialised out of the akumatized object. Its violet wings faded into white as it flew away.
Nadja was the first to compose herself. "S-Sabine, how-?"
"Ma'am!" someone shouted, causing all to turn to the source. There, Ladybug and Chat Noir were stood, mouths agape. "Are you alright?"
"Oh, I am," Sabine replied.
She glanced between the two children, and a flare of protectiveness surged through her veins.
"But it'll be Hawk Moth that isn't when I'm done with him."

If we’re bound to be something, why not together? (chapter two)
First / Next
Read on AO3
Notes: Reminder that these are not one-shots, it’s a multichapter story! Day 2: Masks. @ladynoirjuly
Adrien thrived on masks.
When he was young, his mother introduced to the concept of masks in theatre. She was mainly a movie actress rather than a theater one, but everyone knew it was mostly a hobby. Clever Emilie Agreste dipping her toes in various hobbies before she settles down to her true calling: being a socialite. So she took to her classical greek play the same way she took to verything else in her life, with amusement and grace.
“This is the mask mommy is going to use, Adrien.” She told, handing an elaborate mask to him.
“Why are you going to use this? We can’t see your face!” Adrien, age five, had complained.
His mother giggled. “It’s because it’s a classical play, sweetie, so we’re wearing masks just this time.”
The small-time director nearly cried when Emilie had agreed to the play. Other actresses her level wouldn’t be so willing to stoop down to such an unknown cast, but she could afford it. Literally.
“They used it for an actor to play a lot of characters at the same time.”
“Why do they have to do that?”
She bopped him in the nose. “Because sometimes they have to, Adrien. You understand, don’t you?”
He hadn’t, at the time, but nodded along just to get the reward of her proud smile and a kiss on the top of his head. However, he understood now, learned this lesson with excruciating experience for the past few years. Through years of social events and work photoshoots, he took in clues. “Adrien, you’re talking too much.” Be quiet. “Adrien, stop fooling around”. Don’t joke, you’re not funny. “Adrien, I told you I would be coming soon, when did you get so needy?” Don’t be clingy. Be polite. Be unassuming. So Adrien Agreste™ was born.
Then he met Plagg and everything changed.
He could become a superhero! And what did all heroes have? Personas! They were all very clever, throwings quips as sharp as wips! They were charming and very smooth, not socially awkward boys that never spoke to more than one non-work friend ever! And, in face of having an stunning partner who he wanted to kiss (not his first, of course, no bonna fide superhero would have a first kiss so late, that one peck in the sandbox with Chloé definitely counted… okay, maybe not having kissed yet was better), they were flirty. He didn’t have to be a marketable model, but being a nervous kid with one friend max was also not gonna cut. So, Chat Noir was born.
At least being Chat Noir was fun, unlike being Adrien Agreste™. But it was still a role, a mask, and sometimes his cheeks hurt and his face felt tired from it. Sometimes he just wanted to ask his partner (brave, kind Ladybug) to hold his hand. He couldn't, of course. Her gaze already felt like it was unrevealing him each day and if he gave her a crack in his mask, he felt like she would break it with a touch. And what would he have left? A shivering mass of nerves and sadness and neediness.
Just Adrien.
However, there were times he felt like it was fruitless to even try. Like Chat Noir was even more fragile than he thought.
“I broke down.” His lady said and seeing her slumped over, eyes avoiding his and voice weak felt wrong. He knew she could be like that, he wasn’t naive, but it didn’t stop the feeling of unnatural tugging on his chest. “I was giving back the miraculous to Rena and I couldn’t keep it in. If I did, I don’t think I could be fixed. I told Rena, Alya, who I am. I dropped the transformation and now she knows.”
She sobs and his heart shatters.
“I’m sorry.”
“Oh, my lady, no.” He said, hugging her. She melted into his arms, now full on crying. “It’s okay, we’re going to figure it out.”
“It’s not okay, I-I gave away my identity and now Shadow Moth has a bigger chance to know.” Ladybug said after she calmed her sobs, arms tightening around him. “I’m trying to find a way to keep him from akumatizing people and I can’t, Chat Noir, I’m stuck and I don’t know what to do.”
“We’re going to figure it out, bug.” He simply repeated, drawing random patterns on her back.
Ladybug extricated herself from his arms.
“Why are you acting like this? Do something! Be mad!” She shouted.
“Why would I be mad? You didn’t do anything wrong.” He barely held back a wince at her shouting. She’s not father, it’s fine. As he regulated his heart rate, he also tried to keep his voice gentle. “Is it bad that someone knows? Yes! But you were hurting, Ladybug. It’s not your fault or mine or Alya’s or even Master Fu’s, it’s Shadow Moth’s! So I can’t be mad at anyone but him.”
Ladybug’s wide-eyed gaze was fixated on him, unblinking.
“I… Thanks, Chaton.” She said, stepping into his personal space once again. She was warm and smelled like sugar and vanilla and her touch, even through the suit, gave him tingles. “I suppose you… want to know my identity now?”
“Nah, my lady, don’t worry about it.” He said, face half buried in her hair. “Don’t want to do this until we’re ready.”
“But you always wanted to know.”
“Yeah, but a lot of things happened and now it’s kinda weird to think about it.” She shifted and her cold nose tickled his neck. He liked it. “I’m… not always like this, you know?”
For a moment he thought she didn’t get it, but soon her small voice reached his ears.
“I know.” Ladybug said. “I’m not always like this, either.”
But it wasn’t the same, he knew. Ladybug would always be the same at her core; brave, bold, kind and so, so beautiful. She gave off her own light and he was honored to orbit around it. And that’s all he could do, orbit. After all, when he wasn’t Adrien Agreste™ or Chat Noir, what was left? Needy, awkward and unfunny Adrien. It really wasn’t the same and the idea of it coming into light made him feel like glass. Maybe that’s why he couldn’t stop talking.
“I just don’t know if you would like me if you knew me.” He confessed, words overflowing before he could catch them and stuff them back to the depths of his soul.
“I already know who you are.” She said into his shoulder. “You’re the best partner in the world. Someone I really want to get to know when we can.”
Ladybug’s words flew into his chest, filling his poor neglected heart with warmth until it grew so big it threatened to explode him.
I love you. I love you. I love you.
“I can’t wait to get to know you too, my lady.”
“You know what we can do now, though?” She said, raising her head to look into his eyes. He could trace the constellations of her freckles this close.
“What?” He asked, breathless.
“We can be more honest with each other, from now on.” Ladybug said. “I’ll tell you when I need your help.”
“Please do.” He said, smiling. “I’ll try to tell you when I need help too.”
“Okay.”
A beat of silence.
“Chat Noir?”
“Yes?”
“Help me with guardian duties? I don’t think I can do this alone.”
“Always, my lady. You just needed to ask.”

——–
I couldn’t manage to get back to sleep after I shocked myself again. So I’m up at three in the morning. I didn’t want to get out of bed. Didn’t want to move. I knew yesterday’s good day wouldn’t last.
I didn’t want to get up. But something pulls me. Urges me to go to the training room Master Zhar and I have been in. It’s almost like… whispers. Soft voices calling out from the training room. But nobody else is awake. I can feel it - there’s nobody else moving anywhere in the enclave besides a handful of cleaning droids. So whatever whispers I’m hearing… they’re not… real. What am I hearing?
I step into the training room. None of the droids are active, none of the computers. Just as dead as they were two days ago. But the footlocker… Revan’s mask. It’s practically shouting at me. But I can’t understand any of it - I can’t make out any words.
I throw open the footlocker. The whispers stop. Replaced by… I don’t really know how to describe it, it feels like something pushing down on me. I can’t take my eyes off the footlocker. It has a few vibroblades, some lightsaber parts, and the mask. Still shrouded in white. I don’t know why, but I reach down and uncover it. Which was a bad idea. The eyehole stares into me, just like it did two days ago. The black nothingness just sits in my heart and it hurts.
I manage to close my eyes. “Leave me alone.” My voice shudders. My fingers spark. Control the fear, Rena. Control the fear.
“You can’t really be as weak as all that.” My voice. But not my voice. I can’t feel anyone else in the room - the Force is telling me there’s nobody here. But the hairs on the back of my neck tell another story. There’s something here. Something dangerous. With my voice. Focus, Rena, focus on the sword in the footlocker. Call it into your hand. Breathe. Breathe. The sword overturns the mask and enters my hand. I pivot on my heel, ready to strike whoever’s here. Whoever escaped the eye of the Force but not my own instincts. Whoever is using my own voice against me.
A woman. My height. Boots, black cloak. Short hair. And my face. But not me. Revan. Relax, Rena. She’s not real, she can’t hurt you. So why can’t I lower my sword? “Weak enough to be scared by a piece of metal,” she says, slowly walking around me. I follow her with my eyes. “Can’t even manage to pick it up, can’t even manage to look at it. How could I become someone like you?”
“I’m not you.”
She throws her head back, laughs. “Keep telling yourself that, honey - maybe you’ll convince your friends, maybe even yourself, but you won’t convince me. And you certainly won’t convince that pretty little pilot of yours.”
I know, I know, Carth hates me and will never trust me again. But I can’t think about that right now. “Tell me something, sweetie - “ Why do I feel like I’m being demeaned? If a man talked to me this way he’d very quickly find his balls have left the building. “ - why are you letting the Jedi get away with this?”
I blink. “Get away with what?”
She scoffs and rolls her eyes. “Come on, you may be weak but you’re not stupid. The Jedi Council took your memories. Took your mind away without so much as a thought. I would have cut them all down the instant I found out. But instead you tried to hide in the desert. Not only are you weak, you’re a pushover. What are you going to let them take next?” She turns on her heel, tracing her path back. “Your dignity? Your dreams? Your life?”
They won’t, though. They won’t. Revan rolls her eyes at me again. “Of course you’re letting them get away with it, none of you have any idea what’s at stake here. There's so much more to be worried about than just Malak, but none of you can see it.” She pounds at her head with her fingers, exasperated and almost ranting.
What is she talking about? Malak is the biggest problem we’re dealing with right now. What do you mean, there’s more than just him to worry about? ‘What do you mean? What’s bigger than Malak?”
She rolls her head. Her eyes are like nails, fixed on mine. “You were in the middle of something,” she says, “Wouldn’t you like to know what it was?”
Can I really take on another problem right now? With Malak still the urgent problem, then you throw on this personal crisis and all it entails, I don’t think I can take anything else. But… it’s my own memory. I have to know. I don’t relax the sword for a moment, but I nod. She smiles. God, that’s chilling. “Touch the mask, then.”
“You can’t just, I don’t know, tell me?” What kind of bullshit is that?
“If you’re too scared to even touch it, how do you expect to deal with my apprentice?” she chides, “Even he, the sniveling traitor, had guts enough to confront me.”
I’m not scared of it, I just… okay, I’m scared of it. But… I have to know. I crouch down, sword still drawn. And reach my fingers towards the mask.
“Leave her alone, Revan.” I stop. My own voice again. But not me. And not Revan. I look towards the door, where the voice came from. This woman looks more like me. Hair still short, and messy but not as messy as Revan’s or mine. She stands with a gentle confidence. Easy to underestimate, but also fatal. She knows who she is. This is a woman who went to war, who fought a war, who won a war. And is ready to do it again. “She can’t help you.”
“Don’t bullshit me, Marina!” Revan fires back, “She has to. She’s the only one who can.”
“No, Revan,” Marina says calmly, “Look at her. She can’t help you. Not now.”
Revan laughs again, throwing her head back. “Not now? The entire galaxy is at stake, and you want to wait. I expected better from you. You know what’s at stake, you know why, you know why we need her.”
“Yes. I do,” she nods. She looks at me. Where Revan inspires terror, Marina inspires peace. Her eyes tell me everything is going to be okay. And I so desperately want to believe her. “She can’t do it.”
Revan’s fingers spark. Just like mine. “She has to. Because I’m gone. And you’re gone. She’s all that’s left.” Revan scoffs. “And what is she worried about? My traitorous apprentice, and her boy toy.”
Marina rolls her eyes. But not at me. She looks at me with love in her eyes. She comes over to me, crouches beside me. “I know you could do it,” she says, “You are so strong, and so capable. There isn’t a single problem you can’t solve. And if there’s anyone I’d trust with this problem, it’s you.” She smiles, so confident in me. “But you’re not ready. I wasn’t ready.” She glances at Revan. “And for all her bluster, she wasn’t ready either.” (Revan scoffs again, rolling her eyes, and turns away.)
“What is it?” I ask.
Marina shakes her head. “It’s better that you don’t know, for now at least,” she says, “Stick with one galaxy-saving quest at a time.” She smiles. So do I.
“As if Malak is that big of a problem,” Revan scoffs.
Marina stands to confront her again. “He is that big of a problem,” she says, “You know how insufferable Alek could be at the best of times. Now? With an army at his disposal and neither of us there to stand in his way?” Revan doesn’t say anything. “He’s the bigger problem right now and you know it. Stop berating her because she’s not you.” Revan still doesn’t say anything. Marina looks at me again. “You hear it calling you, don’t you?” she asks, “The mask, you can hear it.” She doesn’t need me to respond, but she allows time for one anyway. “It called to me, too, once - when I first found it. It showed everyone the massacre on Cathar, and got the Council to let us get involved in the war.” That’s a pretty heavy thing to bear witness to. ‘There are probably people who know more about this than I do, but I think all that, plus how significant a part of me it became, turned that mask into an artifact of the Force. It’s more than just a hunk of metal now. It’s a part of you. And you have to accept it.”
“I have accepted it.”
Revan scoffs again. “If you had, you wouldn’t be standing here, arguing with us.”
“She has a point,” Marina says, “I know you’ve been having a hard time with this, with everything. And that’s okay. This is big. But you can’t dwell on it forever.” No, I can’t. I have to get my ass in gear. We have to go. “Touch the mask. It won’t --”
“Hang on, hand on. Revan wanted me to touch it, and you stopped her, why are you telling me to touch it now?”
“I can’t say you’re wrong,” she says, “And I can’t blame you for being skeptical. But there are answers you’re looking for, and this won’t solve anything, but it’ll push you in the right direction.”
I don’t want to hurt anybody, and if I don’t get a solid handle on the lightning, then I might just hurt somebody. I can’t let that happen. Marina smiles at me again.
The mask is still face down in the footlocker. I take a breath and turn it over. It stares into me again, and neither Revan nor Marina say a word. I don’t even know if they’re still here, and I can’t bring myself to look. It weighs on me so heavily, sitting on my shoulders and pushing me down. I need to touch the face of it. I need to put my hands on it just like I used to. Like Revan used to.
Only way to do it is to just… do it. Take the plunge. Another deep breath, and I reach my hand to the mask, feeling the metal on my fingertips.
It’s warm. Not a good warm, not a bad warm, it just is. It’s a warmth of its own. The Force is leaking from it like a busted faucet. But it isn’t showing me anything like Marina said it would. It feels familiar. Which I understand but I hate.
Then. Justice. Marina donned the mask and swore to bring justice. To the Cathar and to everyone the Mandalorians hurt. Swore to make it right. To help people. By whatever means. In the end that was why she fell. I can’t see the whole reason why, like it’s being kept from me, but I know her intentions were good and right.
And my intentions are good and right. What’s to stop me from falling? What’s to stop that from happening to me, if I can’t see how she got there in the first place?
Nothing. I need to keep an eye on myself, I need to think hard about every choice I make, the consequences. To others, to myself, to the good of the galaxy. That’s the only way to stop myself from falling again. I am the only one who can stop this. The others can help but at the end of the day I have to fix it. I will face Darth Malak alone. I can’t let them get hurt because of me and I won’t. I will watch myself to make sure I don’t fall. Because if I do it’s over.
And so. The lightning. I need to trust myself otherwise people will get hurt. If I can’t trust that I won’t hurt people, then I will hurt them. No way around that. That’s the way it has to be. And the way it will be.
Carth hates me. And it’s probably better that way. I don’t think I could stop loving him if I wanted to, and I can’t say I like it either. I hate that it’s probably better he hates me, better that he keeps his distance. Because I know him - if he stays he’s going to throw himself in the line of fire for me. He is going to get himself hurt. And I know myself. I will walk through hell to keep him safe. When he walks away… I will let him go. I have to let him go.
If I had to fight Malak every day for the rest of my life, it still wouldn’t be as difficult as letting Carth go. But I can’t make him stay. He could keep me from falling but I need to look out for myself.
Because once I was Marina Ardan. But now my name is Rena Visz.

After filming her latest movie After, overseas for the last year 26 year old Yn Morgan was seen headed to Virginia
I hold my phone in my hand as I pose for pictures with the fans I ran into at the airport even though I look like a literal pile of shit. I work with what I have which is filters and when they are done taking photos on their phone I pull out my phone and I go to my Snapchat and I use my phone to take selfies with fans and I take like 8 before adding them to my Instagram story, getting all of their instagrams so that I can tag them.
"Arrived home to so much love. I love you all 😘💕" I add to my Instagram story as well.
"Thank you so much Yn" one of them says.
"Of course no problem" I say hugging them again before my phone starts going off.
"It was nice meeting you all, I'll follow you when I get home" I say walking off and picking up my phone.
"Hey dad" I say as soon as I pick up.
"Hey baby did you land?" He asks.
"Yeah, are you here?" I ask looking around as I grab my suitcase.
"Yeah, I'm walking up right now. I had to park pretty far" he says.
"Okay, I'm making my way to the entrance" I say putting my suitcase down and wheeling it behind me and when I see him, I run over to him and he catches he, pulling me into a hug and I hug him back.
"Hi daddy" I say kissing his head.
"Hey baby. How was the flight?" He asks and I smile at him.
"To be honest I don't know. I was so excited to see Hank that I slept the whole time because if I didn't I would have exploded" I say and he laughs.
"How long has it been?" He asks.
"I only seen him when he was in the hospital and then I was filming supernatural and then when that wrapped I had to fly out from Canada to London to start filming After" I say.
"It's going to be so good to see him in person and not just over FaceTime" I say and he grabs my suitcase.
"Well he's waiting so let's go" he says leading the way.
"Are you okay?" He asks as he gets in after putting my suitcases in the trunk and I nod.
"Yeah, it's just a little weird if I'm being honest" I say buckling up.
"I haven't seen Savannah in so long and I don't want to feel like I'm intruding" I say and he quickly shakes his head.
"I understand, it's a new place. But take your time it's no rush to get use to things. And it's only two weeks but if it was longer you wouldn't be intruding. She's waiting to get some girl time in with you" he says smiling at me before he drives off.
"A few of my former colleagues are coming over for dinner tonight. So I'm just letting you know so you have time to shower and get ready" he says.
"Thank you for the warning. I need time to get presentable" I say smiling at him.
"Welcome home" he says opening the door and I walk inside happy to finally be here instead of living out of a hotel for the past year and a half.
"You did such a good job with the house, it looks nothing like how it use to look" I say looking around.
"Hey sweetie" I hear and Savannah walks around the corner.
"Hey" I say and she hugs me and I hug her back.
"I just started dinner, so you have time to get ready" she says and I nod and Hank runs around the corner.
"Ynn" he says running over to me hugging me.
"Hi Bubba" I say picking him up.
"You've gotten some big and cute. How old are you now?" I ask kissing his head.
"I'm three" he says holding up four fingers and I put one down, smiling at him.
"That's so crazy. I remember seeing you in the hospital as a little baby" I say.
"You seen me in the hospital?" He asks and I nod.
"Yeah, I was one of the first people to hold you" I say brushing his hair out his face.
"Hank, let Yn go shower" Savannah says.
"We'll finish this conversation later" I say putting him down and holding out my fist and he fist bumps me before running off into the kitchen.
"Everything is pretty much exactly where it was it's just updated so you should have no problem finding your way" my dad says and I turn to him nodding.
"Okay" I say going up the stairs to shower and get ready.
I walk down the stairs and I hear a lot of talking and laughing and I tug on my dress before walking around the corner "hey Yn come here" my dad says opening his arms and I walk over and he hugs me, wrapping one arm around my shoulder.
"This is my best friend Penelope, Penelope this is my daughter Yn" he says introducing me to the first person I see.
"You didn't tell me your daughter was the Yn Morgan" she says and I smile at her.
"Well I feel like I'm the only one" I say laughing.
"But it's nice to meet you" I say going to shake her hand but she pulls me into a hug.
"You are so beautiful" she says and I hug her back.
"Thank you" I say smiling at her.
"This is Matt and his wife Kristy, Hotch and his wife Renae, Luke, Tara, Rossi, JJ and her husband Will, Emily and Spencer" he says introducing me to everyone and I shake all of their hands.
"It's really good to meet you all" I say smiling at them.
"I'm with Penelope here. You didn't tell us who your daughter actually was" Luke says and I turn to my dad.
"It never came up" he says and Renae laughs.
"Never came up? We've known you for like 17 years" she says.
"Geez it's almost like you're embarrassed of me" I joke and he laughs rolling his eyes.
"How long are you with your dad?" Matt asks.
"Two weeks, I'm off from filming for a while so I decided to visit them" I say and he smiles at me and I smile back and Savannah hands me a glass of wine and I sip on it.
"You're an actress right?" Kristy asks and I nod.
"Yeah I am" I say smiling at her.
"What's that like?" She asks.
"When I was younger it was a really hard time for me, I started out on a show and then my mom made me join another cast at the same time and I was doing two shows at once and I wasn't use to it so I was very moody and always tired and then after that I did a season of a show and I was quickly done with that because it sucked so I moved on to movies to let myself relax" I say taking a sip of my wine.
"And you do both now right?" JJ asks.
"Yeah, recently I started doing tv again" I say.
"You were in the Netflix series. I think it was called a Time" Will says and I nod.
"Yeah, that's what made me want to start tv again and then I did a show called euphoria with one of my best friends who is like a little sister to me and then I did supernatural and went to work on a movie" I say.
"My girlfriend and I watched Euphoria" Tara says.
"What did you think?" I ask.
"You were so good. We talked about how you and Zendaya played the roles you got so good that it seemed so real" she says and I laugh awkwardly because for me it is very real.
"She told me the day she started filming that Savannah and I weren't allowed to watch it" my dad says wrapping his arm around Savannah.
"Her parts in the show weren't as bad as others but yeah as her parents I wouldn't watch it" she says and everyone laughs.
"What else are you in?" Spencer asks.
"Im in a new series called the umbrella academy. It came out earlier this year and I occasionally do a show called 9-1-1" I say.
"So you've been busy?" Renae asked and I nod.
"Extremely, but I like it. It helps me stay active so I don’t have rid to start thinking" I say drinking the last of my wine.
"I'm going to get a refill. Does anyone need anything?" I ask and they all shake their head continuing on the conversation and I go into the kitchen and I go to the wine and I pour me a glass and I take the plastic baggie out my bra and I put a little on my finger and I stick the bag back in my bra and I hear the door open so I brush it off and I look up to see Spencer and he smiles at me and I smile back.
"Hey" I say.
"Hi, can you top me off?" He asks setting his cup on the island and I nod pouring him a glass and I sit on the cabinet refilling mine.
"So Spencer" I say smiling at him.
"Yeah?" He asks, awkwardly smiling back.
"What do you like to do in your free time?" I ask.
"I don't really get free time but I guess I would have to say I like to read" he says.
"Oh yeah I can see that" I say and I grab my purse that’s on the far end of the cabinet, pulling the book out.
"You've probably read this but if you haven't you should give it a read and let me know what you thought about it. I just finished reading it on the flight here" I say handing it to him.
"How am I going to do that?" He asks and I pull a pen out and I open the front of the book, quickly writing my number in the top of the front cover.
"There you go. I don't know how fast you read but it took me three days so I'll be waiting on the call" I say.
"It's actually not going to take me that long" he says opening the front page again and he reads the first and second page in like 30 seconds.
"Oh my god I totally forgot you're like a genius" I say and he laughs.
"I'm not a genius" he says.
"Something only a genius would say" I say laughing and he looks up as I'm drinking my wine.
"Are you sure you want to give this to me?" He asks and I nod.
"I mean it's a bit too late, I was trying to be cute and write my number down" I say and he blushes a little.
"Yeah, you're right" he says quietly and I giggle.
"Hey, nothing to be embarrassed about" I say holding up my wine glass and I nod to him and he holds his up.
"Here's to fast friend outside of our careers and good books" I say and he taps his glass against mine at the same time I go to tap mine against his and I fall forward applying too much pressure and I catch myself but I break both glasses and the wine falls out and I instantly start laughing.
"Oh my god, I am so sorry" I say and he laughs with me and I jump down to grab some paper towels so I can clean up and he helps me and I hear the door open and I look up.
"Everything okay in here?" Savannah asks and I look up quickly over the island.
"Mhm" I say.
"All is good" Spencer says and she raises a brow.
"Whatever you heard nothing is broke" I say and she laughs.
"If you need another glass they are in the cabinet beside the stove" she says and the door closes and I finish cleaning and I sit back on the floor, with my back pressed against the island and Spencer grabs us more glasses and refills them and sits beside me handing me one.
"Thank you" I say and he smiles at me.
"Here's to fast friends outside of our careers, good books and extra wine glasses" he says and I snort laughing.
"Here here" I say gently tapping his glass and we both drink at the same time.
"Anyone ever tell you how easy it is to get along with you?" I ask and he quickly shakes his head laughing.
"Never and you only say that because I've had to stop myself from pulling out all the ramblings and unwanted facts" he says and I laugh.
"Don't let me stop you, I'd love to hear some of your best facts" I say and he smiles at me and I smile back and I start to lean in and the door opens and we both quickly pull away.
"And that's when I walked out of the Emmy's" I say and my dad clears his throat and I stand up.
"What's going on in here?" He asks.
"Well I was coming in here to refill my glass" I say.
"20 minutes ago" he says.
"And Spencer came in and we started talking and I gave him a book and then I went to cheers his glass and I broke both of ours and had to clean it up and then savannah came in and told us where the spare glasses were and then we refilled our glasses" I say and Spencer stands up.
"Leave them alone" Savannah says coming in to check dinner and I laugh at my dads face and Spencer's phone goes and he looks at it and he sighs.
"I have to go" he says and my dad nods.
"I'll walk you out" I say.
"You don't have to" he says.
"I know but I want to" I say.
"Be careful and I'll see you Sunday" my dad says hugging Spencer who hugs him back and then he hugs savannah as I walk into the living room.
"There you are Yn" Penelope says and I smile.
"I'll be right back to talk, I'm going to walk Spencer out" I say and she nods and Spencer comes to say bye to everyone and I walk him out.
"It was nice getting to meet you, you are way cooler than what I've heard" I say laughing and he laughs and it dies down and it gets awkward.
"Okay I'm just going to come out and say it because I've learned my whole life to just be bold but I like you, like really like you and the time I've talked to you has been the most fun I've had in like the past year and I know it might be weird because our age gap and the fact that I'm Derek's daughter and you're probably taken because only an idiot would ever turn you down and now I'm regretting even saying anything about liking you but it's true and I'm sorry if things are weird between us now but I thought we were having a moment in the kitchen earlier but I'm an idiot and I don't actually know if it was what I-" he cuts my endless rambling off with a kiss and I kiss him back before he pulls away.
"I'm sorry I don't know why I did that" he says.
"It's okay, I don't mind" I say smiling at him.
"I wouldn't normally do that but there's just something about you" he says and I push his hair out of his face, my smile growing bigger and I clear my throat.
"I should head back inside before they get suspicious but call me when you finish the book" I say and he squeezes my hand and I smile at him running back inside and when I get into the house I watch him pull off and I shut the door.

Outfoxed Chapter 12
Smiles, trials, and a prince. Yes, I am happy!
Previous Chapter
Tumblr media
Rena was walking down the hallway at RAD to her next class when an arm laced in hers. She glanced over to see the sorcerer smirking as demons waved at them. He chuckled and cleared his throat. “Well, it seems you didn’t need me to talk you off a ledge last night, after all.”
“No, I called Lord Diavolo,” Rena smiled and waved at a group watching them pass.
“I love her hairband,” one of the demons murmured to the other.
Solomon observed the random groups fawning on them from afar. “What’s this?”
“Hm?” she asked while tilting her head, and her ears twitched.
“Something’s different today. Why is all of RAD obsessing over you? I’ve noticed since your change that others are more aware of you, but this is a major divergence,” Solomon expressed with a scowl.
She shrugged her shoulders. “Solomon, that amulet works for all sorts of magic, correct?”
“Yes,” he said with a hint of suspicion.
“So, if I tried to convince you to sleep with me,” she paused and tilted her head.
“It wouldn’t take much, but only because I’m curious to see what your bedside manner is like,” He responded.
Rena laughed and squeezed his arm. “Let’s not let any of my demons know that.”
“Too late,” Asmodeus hissed.
Rena glanced back and waved her gloved hand. “Hello, darling.”
Asmo beamed after eyeing Solomon. “Hello, sweetie. How’s class been? You’re looking quite spectacular today!”
“Thank you! Class has been great. Today, in general, has been pretty amazing,” Rena explained.
Solomon watched as another group of demons they passed pointed and smiled. “Did I miss a Devilgram post? I know I had to repair an explosive oven, but this is noticeably a change.”
“Oh, that’s because I took pictures of Rena today and posted them. They went viral in minutes. She was modeling a new line of dresses I’m making,” Asmodeus hummed and waved his D.D.D.
Solomon shrugged his shoulders and gestured to Rena. “You’re happy today.”
She giggled. “I am! I feel so much better after I slept well.”
He observed her with a scrunched brow. “Rena, what about last night?”
“What about it?” She asked.
“You were talking about taking a bite out of Leviathan or Mammon. Today you’re extremely pleasant.”
Asmodeus snorted. “She’s still sexually tense, Solomon. However, she is projecting happiness. A large cloud is just wafting around her.”
Solomon scratched his chin with his free hand. “Well, that’s interesting. Asmodeus, yours is only lust, correct? I’ve been trying to figure out what sin motivates Rena.”
“Cunning,” Rena declared.
“Cunning? Not truly a sin,” Solomon hummed. “I’m cunning, but I’m not necessarily deceitful.”
“Neither am I, but that’s what it is,” Rena snorted and nudged him.
Asmodeus ruffled Rena’s hair. “I’m quite interested in how you’re able to exude this much happiness, Rena. What did you and Satan do last night that you’re so content, sweetie?”
“Oh, we took selfies and drew animal faces on each other. Belphie was difficult to figure out, but we decided on drawing sunglasses and sleepy ‘z’s around him,” Rena giggled.
“You’ll have to show me later! Okay, see you at lunch!” Asmo waved as he walked into a classroom.
Solomon arched an eyebrow. “Cunning. Another vulpine reference.”
“I suppose,” she beamed. “I’m curious to see what else springs up.”
“So am I. When will I have the opportunity to get you alone?” Solomon asked.
“Alone, oh my,” she teased.
“Hello, Rena!” Luke exclaimed as they rounded the corner.
Rena skipped over, and her ears flickered as her tail swayed. “Hey, Luke! Simeon, you’re looking quite dapper today,” she smiled and gestured to him.
Simeon chuckled and pressed a hand to his chest before bowing his head. “You are looking beautiful today, as usual, Rena.”
She wrapped her arm around him and beamed. “You’re too sweet, Simeon. How are you? Solomon told me about your oven almost exploding!”
He laughed and rocked his head. “Yes, it seems he was a bit experimental in the kitchen last night, and it led to flames.”
Solomon shrugged his shoulders. “I don’t know how something as simple as muffins lit the oven aflame.”
“He’s grounded from using the oven for the next week,” Luke nodded.
Rena stifled a bit of giggling and stared at the taller angel. “Our children are mischievous.”
Simeon laughed and rocked his head. “Yes, they truly are. At least Luke is well-behaved.”
“Children? I’m quite a few millennia older than you,” Solomon chuckled.
“Yes, me too! Rena, you would be our little sister,” Luke scowled.
“We were just joking, Luke. It was from a stream of texts we shared two weeks ago,” Simeon smiled.
Rena giggled as she rocked her head. “We had so much fun that night. That bubble bath was pretty extraordinary.”
“When can you come back over to stay the night?” Luke asked.
Rena bounced her shoulder as her fingers played with Simeon’s cloak. “Well, I doubt Lucifer will allow it. Since my accident, he has complete control over my welfare due to the circumstance.”
“That must be horrible!” Luke gasped.
Rena shook her head. “No, he’s been pretty great, actually. I’m quite fortunate that he cares for my well-being as much as he does.”
“That’s a relief to hear.”
Rena turned and smiled at Lucifer and Barbatos passing them in the hall. “Good morning, Barbatos.”
“Good morning, Rena. You’re glowing today,” he noted.
“I was suggesting such earlier,” Solomon agreed.
Simeon rocked his head. “Yes, it appears Rena is vibrant and happy this morning.”
Lucifer approached, and Rena dropped her hand from Simeon’s back. He handed her pages and straightened his uniform. “If you could review those today before RAD ends, you will be prepared for the student council meeting.”
“Oh, am I joining today?” She asked.
Lucifer rocked his head. “It has to do with the event Lord Diavolo, and yourself were discussing.”
“Excellent, thank you so much,” Rena beamed.
He rocked his head and stepped back with Barbatos. The butler demon waved with the hint of a smile, and the pair walked off without much adieu.
“He’s always been such an interesting demon,” Solomon mused.
“I know, that’s why I love him,” Rena smirked.
The warning bell sounded, and the four of them walked inside. It was going to be an interesting day if this pattern kept up. Not that Rena had room to complain. She was not just faking happiness; she was enjoying her day.
Tumblr media
Lunch was excellent, and somehow she was in a debate with the prince himself. She was comparing her changes and how they’re similar or dissimilar to him. Rena held her mouth open as Diavolo was grinning and looking at her teeth. “We have the same length incisors,” he smirked and let her jaw go.
She giggled and turned around, waving her tail from side to side. “Yes, but I have a fluffy tail.”
“True,” Diavolo hummed as he reclined in his chair. “Come sit; I know it hasn’t been easy today.”
Sit where? Rena glanced at the chairs at the other end of the desk, but he said to come. Diavolo smiled and patted the open portion of the desk in answer to her silent question. She climbed onto the desk, and her feet swayed next to Diavolo’s thigh.
“So, do you and Lucifer go on dates?” Rena asked.
Diavolo paused his teacup midair. “What?”
“The guys have been telling me for two years that you two are some weird thing,” Rena scowled and tilted her head. “I dare not ask him because I know I’d end up with a purple ass and likely ligature marks on my wrists.”
Diavolo sipped his tea and hummed. “No, I asked him, but he declined. This was thousands of years ago. Why is he excellent in bed?”
Rena’s cheeks darkened as her ears stood straight up.” Well, um, yes, in fact, he is.”
He smiled and placed his ankle on his knee. “I estimated as much. However, he’s quite selective. He likes to hold his power tightly!”
This wasn’t exactly where Rena had thought this conversation was going to go after her curious question. However, it was rather nice to just talk to someone and know it wouldn’t get back to the brothers if it were serious.
“He does. I do enjoy that. He isn’t as sadistic with me as I thought he would be,” Rena laughed and crossed her legs.
“I always was curious if Mammon squeals as much aside from taking punishments,” Diavolo mused.
Rena laughed and shook her head. “He actually growls more. Unless I tease him.”
“You’ve come to terms with quite the unconventional. Solomon told me it would be irregular in the human world if this were replicated,” Diavolo noted.
Rena exhaled and picked up her teacup, sipping it. “Well, yes, it would. I just know I really can’t live without them. They gave me pieces of themselves. What right do I have to deny their love and devotion? I know it’s abnormal, but I can’t really be all that normal if I have seven demon pacts from some of the most powerful demons, right?”
“Right,” Diavolo laughed. “You don’t love any of them more than others?”
Rena ducked closer and smirked. “Do you?”
Diavolo narrowed his eyes with his smile still splayed on his lips. “Well, I have favorites for certain things. I enjoy working with Lucifer every day, but I’m always thrilled when I see Satan let down his guard and enjoy himself. It’s a give and take when you cherish those that serve you.”
“So do I,” she responded and wagged her eyebrows. “I can tell you in vague notation that there are many ways to enjoy all of their company. Not just in bed either.”
Diavolo let out a thunderous bout of laughter and exhaled. “Rena, you’re far more mischievous than I first estimated. Is this your new demonic persona?”
Rena bounced her shoulders. “I can’t say new, but may be enhanced? I’ve annoyed Lucifer to no end by walking lines of compliance and pushing limits. It’s strange to think I’m more captive like this than a mere human.”
“I’ve talked to Barbatos at length about your problem. Lucifer has given his own opinion on the matter, but he is quite flustered with the situation himself. The main issue is we’re not positive if the solution will harm you,” Diavolo declared before setting down his cup.
“You know, this is a whole lot easier when I just have to take those little blue vials after something happens,” Rena scrunched her nose.
“I know, and I’m apologetic that it isn’t that easy. New demons tend to be a bit more potent on their needs,” Diavolo sighed.
“Don’t I know it,” Rena groaned.
Diavolo didn’t give her a chance to really recover. She was in his lap, and her knees were propped onto the chair arm. “It’s going to be alright, Rena,” he murmured and stroked her hair.
She shifted her thighs and fixed her skirt as her tail thudded against his leg. “Yes, I know.”
“If I can do anything for you while we,” His words were halted.
Rena coiled her arms around his neck and kissed him. He groaned and cupped her face with his massive hands and delivered a heat-inducing kiss. Had she planned on this? Absolutely not. It felt fucking fantastic, however, and encouraged more. She needed more.
When they parted, she nipped his lip.
“I can help you, but you have to ask,” he whispered.
“Please?” she breathed with a searing blush.
His hand ran over her soft thigh as his head bobbed. “Of course,” he agreed with the hint of a growl and kissed her again.
Well, lunch was eventful! The thought crossed her mind that maybe he had this planned, even if just to give her a bit of relief. Rena wasn’t going to knock it, though. Especially after he silenced her cries with the most enveloping kisses she ever thought could be in existence. Well, cross that off her to-do list; she wouldn’t look at his hands the same way, that was certain.

Multiverse Imagines
Just Like The Old Days
co-creator : @QuinniexC in (wattpad)
It was an early day for the Jacksons. They were already up before the first light. Apollo has not even mounted his own sun chariot to bring light above the world.
But that was not the case, the young family decided to pay someone a small visit after not being able to see each other for five years.
Little Serena Jackson sat in the back seat. Still fast asleep with a slight pout, her mother Annabeth watching over her through the rear view mirror, a little smile playing her lips.
Percy had one hand on the steering wheel while the other one held Annabeth's. His gaze was pleasant and at peace.
They drove through the streets of Stamford, overlooking different sets of building apartments and several townhomes. Cars were parked beside the sidewalk and in front of shops.
Elderly women chatted happily in a nearby bench with their husbands who weren't much interested in their conversation.
He drove his BMW for about 47 minutes until arriving at New Haven. The young family decided to stop by and have some breakfast at Atticus Bookstore Cafe.
Percy looked around for a parking space and his eyes immediately fell on a blank spot in front of the store. "You wanna go in first? You and Serena?" He asked
She looked at him and shook her head " No it's okay, we'll all go in together"
He nodded and started to park the car. After he did, the two of them took off their seat belts and looked behind. They were met by Serena gazing at them with sleepy eyes. In unison, they chuckled.
"Where are we?" She asked quietly, rubbing her eyes awake. A yawn letting out her small lips, her hair in two low pigtails. She says it's her new favorite hairstyle.
"We're in New Haven sweetie,"Annabeth said softly, tickling her daughter's feet, earning a sweet giggle. "We are gonna eat breakfast okay? Then we'll go straight to Boston to meet your uncle Magnus!"
"Uncle Magnus?" She tilted her head, frowning. She was clearly not familiar with the name her mother mentioned.
"Yeah baby.. it's mommy's cousin" Percy answered.
"Hmm... Momma's cousin? Okay then!" She smiled, making her parents smile as well. Annabeth and Percy got out of the vehicle. She opened the back door, unbuckling her daughter and lifting her up in her arms while Percy locked up the car. Altogether they entered the cafe.
Once they had gone in, Serena perked up seeing all the stacked books the cafe had to offer. She wiggled out of her mother's hold and immediately started jumping up and down, pointing at the bookshelves, a wide grin plastered on her face. "Momma! I want to see the books!"
Annabeth smiled at her "Later we'll check them out huh?"
"Why later?" Serena pouted
She knelt down to her daughter's level "Because we have to order our breakfast first okay? And then after we find a table, we could go check out the books—"
"Uh uh." Percy intervened, getting a hold of Serena's hand " I could take her there now, it's alright"
"Are you sure?" She raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah definitely." He kissed his wife's cheek "we'll meet you over there" he said, pointing at the farthest table near the window.
"Yeah sure." She looked at Serena, who grinned from ear to ear "Behave with daddy okay?"
She nodded cutely, before dragging Percy with her tiny fingers wrapped around his big ones toward the bookshelves. Annabeth smiled thinking how much her daughter was like her when she was younger and up until now. She lined up from a trail of customers, awaiting her turn.
As soon as she was first in line, smiling, the cashier asked for her order "Hi good morning, what would you like today?"
Annabeth returned the simple gesture "Good morning um, I would like 2 Croque Monsieur with 2 Espressos and 1 breakfast sandwich. Also 1 hot chocolate please"
The cashier nodded, typing down her order on the monitor. "Is that all?"
"Yes that's all" Annabeth confirmed
The cashier nodded once more. She looked up saying, "That would be $37. "
Annabeth took out her wallet and paid. The cashier thanked her and told her to wait. As she made her way towards the table they had agreed on, A little body collided with her leg, wrapping her little arms around her lower limb. She looked down and saw a sight that made her heart melt all the way.
"Momma!" The little girl chirped happily.
Annabeth grinned, hoisting her up in her arms "Baby!" Serena giggled, placing a wet kiss on her mom's cheek. "Where's daddy?"
Serena pointed toward the end of the cafe where they could see Percy carrying handfuls of various books.
Annabeth let out a laugh when she saw Percy's face. He looked so flustered and rapt at the same time. He was never interested in books because of his ADHD and dyslexia but he was always willing to go to a library just for his wife and his daughter. He loves seeing their reactions whenever they see a wide selection of books in a library or whenever they spot a beautiful architecture. They'd always beg to stop the car and he'd be more glad to do so just to see their faces.
"Aren't you a sweet daddy.." Annabeth cooed, putting her arms behind his neck. She brushed the hair away from his eyes and leaned in to give a quick kiss before pulling away and assisting him with the books. "Are we buying all of this?"
"Serena said she'd pick from all of these. Only two or three, okay honey?" He said to his daughter
"Okay!" She answered, flopping down onto one of the chairs, re-scanning all of the books she took whilst her parents settled down to the seats in front of her, watching her adoringly.
"She's a lot like you, you know" Percy whispered, beaming in happiness
She stared at him with affection.
"Yeah she is... though she's got so much of your sass and your blue food addiction it's crazy. She's as sweet as you too"
He chuckled, remarking "That's our girl"
"That's our girl…" she agreed, nodding with a small smile.
"Momma! Daddy!" The little girl looked up at them, "These!" She lifted up two books and kinda shoved them in their faces, her look overjoyed. It was Geronimo Stilton and the lost treasure of the emerald eye. And another, Geronimo Stilton and the curse of the cheese pyramid.
Annabeth grinned from ear to ear, "These are wonderful, honey!"
"Yeah they are! All of the books I have at home are too much for kids." She shook her disapprovingly, her pigtails bouncing along.
"But baby, you are a kid" Percy said
"Yeah I am but I'm smarter than most!" She declared proudly, placing both of her hands on her hips with a look of pride on her face.
"Yeah you are…" Annabeth smirked
"Gods she gets that from you—" Percy told her, shaking his head in disbelief
"Does she?" She asked innocently, tilting her head sideways "Oh well."
Percy snorted, gathering the books in his hands "I'll be paying for this," he said, standing up. "Don't have too much fun while I'm gone" he told them, with a playful smile.
"Don't you worry Mr. Jackson," Annabeth assured him "we won't. right Rena baby?"
"Yeah!" She replied almost immediately "Books! Books! Books!" She started chanting
Percy and Annabeth met each other's gaze, her mouthing 'You heard her'
'yes ma'am' he mouthed back and left.
***
Thereafter he had paid for the books she chose, he walked back to the table at the same moment the waitress came with their orders. Serena already returned the excess books with any help from her mother. (Annabeth was very proud)
"2 Croque Monsieurs, 2 Espressos, 1 breakfast sandwich and 1 hot chocolate!" The waitress beamed, tucking a piece of hair strand behind her ear the minute she met eyes with Percy. "Anything else I can get you?" She asked, amorously advancing, not even acknowledging his wife in front of her.
Annabeth noticed this behavior and as fast as lighting, a flash of irritation crossed her eyes. She pursed her lips, clearly not wanting this woman to be in her husband's presence. But Percy being Percy was completely oblivious to the fact that the woman in front has taken a liking to him. He smiled, "3 glasses of water please"
"On the way" the woman winked, swaying her hips as she left. Percy shrugged nonchalantly, sitting down next to Annabeth who stared at him sternly. He suddenly was aware of this. "Wise girl? Is there something wrong?"
She blinked hard. Pointing a crooked finger toward the woman, her other hand formed in fists. "Her."
He looked at the figure she pointed, his eyebrows furrowed. "Her? What do you mean by her?"
"She has eyes on you! Can you not see that?"
He was taken aback. "What? I didn't even notice"
She rolled her eyes, "of course you didn't. You're as oblivious as you can be Percy."
"Wise girl it's not my fault—"
"I know it's not! It's that dam girl!" She half yelled, completely vexed. Serena looked at them with both confusion and concern, still munching on her sandwich happily.
"Wise girl it's nothing okay? She doesn't mean anything to me. Just don't mind her." He tried
"How can I not mind her when she's coming back this way, with your tray of water. Just great" she exclaimed sarcastically. When the woman came, Serena did the most mind-boggling thing in the universe. "Stay away from my daddy!"
Percy's jaw dropped. Annabeth's irritated face turned complacent, feeling a swell of pride coarse through her veins. The woman was gobsmacked, unable to reply to the little girl, Annabeth intruded. "You heard her. Leave the drinking glasses here and walk away. Otherwise you'd find yourself lifeless in a second." She said in a dangerously calm voice, gesturing for her to go and get out.
The woman looked down in shame. Embarrassed. She turned toward the opposite direction and rushed for the door.
Annabeth gave her daughter a discreet thumbs up, clearly proud. Percy got over his shock and looked at his daughter and wife. "Okay, look. I'm really proud of you for being sassy but that was not very nice. Both of you" he stated
"Percy—"
"That was very wrong. She likes me so what? That won't give me a reason to stop loving you. Or leave you. Whatever this world throws at us, I can promise you, I'll always be by your side. You and Serena's. I love you Wise girl"
Annabeth said nothing at first. Her stormy grey eyes were shone with intense light. She looked into his eyes for a long moment as though searching for something of importance. Then, all of a sudden, she smiled and it occurred to Percy that she found what she was looking for, even if he did not know what it was.
Without further warning, she leaned into his tall frame, gently placing her lips on his. To Percy, he did not know if she really had any physical and emotional power over him or if it's only his own spirit but he swore, he felt fireworks explode the moment he felt his lips touch hers.
Truth be told, they only stopped when a voice said "I'm still here you know…" pulling apart, they were met face to face with a glare from Serena.
"Sorry baby, are you already finished?" Percy asked shyly
"Yup! Only drinking my hot chocolate. Also waiting for you two!" Her glare evaporated and was replaced by a delighted grin.
"Oh right! Wait for me and mommy and then we're going straight to Boston"
***
As soon as they had finished their breakfast, the time said it was only 9:00 am and they still had many hours to go before arriving at Boston. They hauled all of their belongings, Serena gripping her brown paper bag with books. She took both Annabeth and Percy's hand, trying her best to reach it and all together they went back to the car.
Percy buckled Serena's seat belt, earning a soft thank you from his daughter. He went back to his place in the driver's seat, starting the vehicle. With that, he placed the key inside the ignition and the car roared to life.
They drove for about 42 minutes through a vast over-lit city, a wide set of buildings towering over them as they crossed an intersection. The streets of Hartford were clean, polished and newly painted. Tall trees were planted near a sidewalk beside poles. Cars were parked on the side of the road and the wind blew a gentle breeze out. Serena looked outside of her car window, completely mesmerized by the scenery as the family passed each building one by one, driving at 55 miles per hour. Annabeth gave Percy her hand and just like earlier, he gladly laced it with hers. Giving her his classic troublemaker smile.
Once they were out of Hartford, the family drove for about 54 minutes, before arriving at Old Sturbridge Village, Massachusetts. As they traveled, they caught sight of a wild field of meadows, overlooking several tobacco barns and modern farm houses. People wore rural New England 1700s clothing, as If it was the day of Halloween. White historical buildings were spotted behind wooden fences. Trees the color of red and gold swayed by. Leaves fell down from the trees, rustling on the pavement.
They arrived at Lexington, Massachusetts at 10:21 am. Lexington is a suburban town in Middlesex county. Only 10 miles from Downtown Boston. They passed through several storefronts and monuments. Teenagers at 14 leisurely strolled by. Orange leaves covered the grass and the asphalt. Tiny American flags were affixed on the grass. Percy turned around the corner and they passed through a sign that said, 'LEFT LANE. MUST TURN LEFT.' When Serena suddenly spoke,
"Momma, Daddy… How come Uncle Magnus only wants to meet me now? Was he busy?"
Annabeth looked at her lovingly, "Yes honey, he was. But now that he's got his work done, we can finally meet him!"
Serena smiled a toothy grin then slowly asked "what does he look like?"
It was her father's turn to smile. "Anyone who would've seen them might assume they'd be siblings, baby" he said
She tilted her head "How come?"
"Well.. he's got the very same blonde hair and the identical stormy grey eyes. Though Uncle Magnus' eyes are more friendly than your mom's" he told her, earning a playful slap from Annabeth and a high giggle from Serena.
"What's he like?" She asked once more
"He's a goofy butt" Annabeth smirked then continued "even so he's amazing. He's only a butt because he made everyone think he was dead"
"So he's not dead?"
"Oh he is but still very much alive" she answered simply. Serena looked confused, locking eyes with her father who only laughed.
They made their way out of Lexington Massachusetts. Passing through numerous skyscrapers and other tall buildings, stores and houses. After 20 minutes of driving through towns they finally arrived at Boston. Percy made his way to the food court in the Transportation center in downtown Boston. When Magnus called the day before, he told them to meet at Fadlan's Falafel.
Serena was wide awake and very cheerful. Hugging her stuffed seal tight to her chest.
Annabeth and Percy always made sure she had a toy inside the car, If not she'd cry all day like the time they went to the grocery store.
Once they arrived at Fadlan's Falafel, Percy parked the car as easy as pie. Then in unison, he and Annabeth looked behind to see their daughter better.
"Are you excited baby?" Annabeth asked, a smile playing on her lips.
Serena clapped her hands giggling, kicking her legs against the car seat. "Yeah! Yeah!" She cheered
The couple shared a look of amusement, unbuckling both of their seatbelts. Both of them got out of the car on each side, Serena waiting her turn.
Annabeth opened her car door and helped her with the seatbelt. Hoisting her up in her arms, Serena reached for her books.
"Mama books!" She said
Annabeth looked back at the car, "You could read that back home baby okay? Right now we are gonna meet your uncle Magnus. Interaction is the key" her mother explained
She pouted cutely but immediately brightened up when she thought about another thing. "Can I atleast bring my seal?"
Her father laughed beside her mom. "Of course baby girl" He tickled her nose, earning a sweet giggle from his little girl.
"I'll go get it right now"
"Sure thing"
Percy walked back to his BMW, unlocking it with his car keys. He went to the back seat, grabbing the white plush seal. Locking the car again, he made his way back to his wife and daughter.
He handed Serena her toy and she gladly took it with a small giggle. "Let's go?" He gestured towards the doors.
"Yup" Annabeth agreed and all together they walked right inside the entryway of Fadlan's Falafel. As they entered, Annabeth and Percy caught a sight of three familiar faces. Magnus, Alex, and Samirah. They seemed to be talking about dying in the fields of Valhalla.
"Magnus I came around at 10:00am and that was still early?" Samirah asked, a tone of disbelief in her voice. The three of them were seated in front of Fadlan's Falafel. "First of all, I was tired and sleeping is my way of relaxation. Besides, 14 hours of sleep isn't even enough! Second of all, yesterday I got burned from head to toe then got smashed by a boulder! Dying can really knock me off." He said and Alex snickered. "Sure does Maggie—" from behind them a voice said
"You could say that again Chase." Percy's deep voice called out from across the place.
On the table, Magnus smirked."Near death ordeals don't count Jackson" he and his friends stood up to greet them, turning around and he stopped short. The sight in front of him made his heart skip a beat. There beside Percy, was Annabeth. Holding a beautiful baby girl with long dark curls and stormy grey eyes. The girl clutched a white plush seal on her left arm while the other arm was wrapped around her mother's neck.
"Hey… I—uh— is this baby—?" He fumbled for words, a feeling of wide happiness spreading inside him. Annabeth nodded, a warm smile on her face.
"Meet our daughter, Magnus."
He and his friends slowly walked towards them, not wanting to scare the little baby who started hiding her face in her mother's neck. "It's okay sweetheart" Annabeth assured her daughter. "Can you say hi to Uncle Magnus, Aunt Alex and Aunt Samirah?"
Serena did a little wave. "Hi"
"Aren't you adorable…" Magnus tickled her small knee with a merry expression, earning a sweet giggle. "What's her name?" Asked Samirah softly from Magnus' side. She looked at the little girl fondly, perhaps wanting to have her own with Amir when she's older.
"Serena Angeline," Percy answered this time. Giving his daughter a loving look.
When the baby looked at Alex, she had to be honest. She felt herself go a little too soft inside. "She's so cute" Alex whispered, trying to go unheard but Magnus was the first to overhear. He snickered, wrapping an arm around his girlfriend (she's a she today), obviously taking the risk of Alex cutting his whole arm "Didn't know you went soft Fierro…"
She slapped him, hissing "Shut up Maggie!"
"Language Alex" Samirah scolded, gesturing there's a baby.
Alex mouthed a soft sorry and then smiled at the baby who returned the action.
"So… are we just gonna stand here? Or what?" Percy pointed out, sharing an amused look with Magnus. "Yeah yeah let's go sit down" he agreed
All 6 of them walked back to where Magnus, Alex and Sam were sitting. The Jackson's sat from across them. Serena in between her parents. "Who'd order the food?" Alex asked
"Me" Percy volunteered
"Me too" Magnus said and the boys left the table. Leaving the girls. "Okay so…let me be honest Annabeth but it is hard for me to believe you're a mom. I see you as a badass greek warrior not a gentle mother. " Alex told the young mom in amusement. Annabeth replied with a breezy laugh before saying, "I'm still a badass greek warrior just not when I'm with Serena"
"Does… does she know about—your world?" Samirah asked carefully
Annabeth nodded sadly "Yes she does...she was attacked by a clutter of spiders when she was sick one time. It scared her and Percy and I decided it was for the best. She deserves the truth after that experience."
Samirah and Alex nodded, sorry for the little girl but then laughed when Serena said proudly "I'm a legacy!"
Alex smirked, holding out her fist "Yeah you are" Serena obliged, bumping her fist with Alex. In a second, Magnus and Percy came back holding trays filled with food. Amir trailing right behind them, dragging a chair.
"You guys have fun without us?" Percy smiled, settling down beside Serena who clapped her hands in excitement. (She was excited to eat the food) "Not too much fun" Serena said to her dad. Amir positioned the chair in front of the table, sitting down. He gave a little wave to the little girl and soft smile playing on his lips "Hi.." he whispered
"Hello" she waved back cutely
"What's her name? She's adorable" he exclaimed
"Thank you.." Serena beamed, her dark curls bouncing. "I'm Serena"
"Hi Serena… you keeping mommy and daddy in check?" He patted her head and she giggled in response. "I'll take that as a yes"
"How are you, Magnus? Annabeth asked in all seriousness. "Many adventures going on, I suppose?"
Magnus nodded "yeah just came back from another one actually" he casually told her
"Oh really? That's cool… nothing too dangerous?"
"Nope" he smiled at her
"Okay.. just making sure"
"Annabeth, your maternal instincts are showing" Alex observed.
She laughed "It's quite natural nowadays"
Samirah nodded thrilled, perhaps excited at the thought she was going to have her own children someday. A young family like theirs with Amir. She would never admit it but she already thought of possible names. For a girl she would name her daughter Amira Ayesha. Meaning princess and the name Ayesha because of her mother. For a boy she would name her son Abdul Hakeem. Meaning a servant of Allah who helps people and is a pious servant of God. She must've been preoccupied because Alex needed to shake her out of her thoughts.
"Yo you alright?" Her sister asked, concerned.
She nodded, saying "never better" Then little Serena spoke all of a sudden. Speaking through a full mouth, she said
"Mommy says daddy has a lot of seaweed in his brain"
Percy choked on his Sandwich. Annabeth almost spit her diet coke but held herself for that would be a bad influence to her daughter. Amir and Sam were surprised, amused smiles on their faces while Alex and Magnus roared with laughter.
"Heck damn she is right! Seaweed brain"
"Annabeth!" Percy pouted
"What?" She said nonchalantly "I ain't lying" Then they all laughed as well.
***
"Goodbye Magnus! It was great to see you!" Annabeth smiles at him, carrying Serena with her right arm while she does her best to hug her cousin with her left. Percy shook his hand, giving him and Amir a man hug. Alex and Samirah bid their farewell to Serena who did not want to leave anymore.
"Momma I don't wanna leave…" she said, playing with her mom's hair
"We'll visit again baby. Okay? No need to get all sad…" she cooed softly
"Yeah that's right honey" Percy gently patted his daughter's back, calming her more "I think we'd be able to meet them again next month if Momma and Daddy isn't busy and Of course we need to consider Uncle Magnus' schedule" he explained to her. Serena stretched her small arms for Percy, wanting him to carry her. He gladly took her from Annabeth, who did not look too happy but nevertheless she smiled and turned toward Magnus. "You. Behave. Alex, Samirah?" she looked at them "Keep him in control would ya? This dork needs some discipline"
Alex saluted "You gotcha!"
Annabeth nodded, calm "Good bye now. Take care of yourselves"
"We will," Magnus smiled, waving farewell. The last he saw the Jacksons, their black BMW Ix turning the corner on North street, Percy singing along with One direction on the radio, Annabeth laughing at his bad voice, loud giggles of Serena heard from a mile away.
"As I said before, They'd cause a nuclear explosion of cuteness." Alex stated, crossing her arms.
"So what now…" Sam asked
"Last one back at Valhalla's a rotten egg" Magnus said hurriedly sprinting off to Forever 21's dressing room.
"Oh no you don't!" Alex yelled after him, trailing behind closely.
Samirah shook her head, crossing her arms "I work with children...Oh why..."

Cardfight!! Vanguard Extra Story IF 23 things
now get why woke up to notifs of freaking the fuck out (shakes fist at timezones) tl;dr — just a whole lot of incomprehensible screaming
Seeing the smol Kai-kun, the shot feels a lot more like they’re waiting to congratulate him after a race and that’s adorable. Give us some glimpses of sport days and such with his parents before he loses them again.
Got caught out by the fake-out. This writing team loves their trickery.
Watching Aichi effortlessly Superior Realize Majesty Lord when Emi and Shuka struggled for half the season to manage the very same is both amusing but testament to just what a dangerous force he is in this state. Never let him dabble with the “don’t you ever want to stop being nice and go apeshit” meme. We all agree, yes? Good.
The perfect balance of apocalyptic danger and Ren being a shit, thank you for getting it right.
At first, Aichi simply stopping the Blasters’ swords without even retaliating was surprising enough, but when he’s in possession of their power combined, it’s apparent they never stood a chance, even in a 2-on-1 fight.
Whoever wrote the episode and laid out the fighting, you’re the greatest.
Have to wonder if IF Aichi is a glimpse at the anarchy VoidAichi would have unleashed, given the chance, when they both wield power that can extend beyond cardfighting.   — Atop of that, there’s an obvious emphasis on Locking enemy units, mirroring Link Joker’s gimmick. Lock → Link Joker → Brandt. Brandt theory’s clawing its way back from the brink.
Aichi letting loose his rage on Ren just sends me back to Epis 63-64 of the original anime. If he knew about it, would joke about this building for the past 9 years.
For a moment, the idea that Shuka would have Harmonics came across as strange, but then recalling the premise of Neon Messiah, it makes perfect sense.    — That realization plays in nicely with the one during the week that, had she existed at the time, Asia Circuit would have been a perfect scenario for her Flower-Picker duty in regards to the Royal Paladin, Shadow Paladin, Kagero and Aqua Force.
Imagine if Tsukkun would have been enjoying himself during recording; early in the season, the YouTube premiere chat remarked the same of Mamochan with all Ibuki’s antics.
We all really super-agree never to let Aichi stop being nice and go apeshit again? Yes? Good.    — Rena also having to not scream because it was still only just before 7am at this point, rip.
Ominous sphere of counteractive energy (not unlike Deletors) against the rainbow of colours representing Vanguard’s power? Brandt theory yelling.
The incredible irony that Aichi was able to destroy Vanguard better than anyone else previously. Except maybe Neon Messiah Ibuki, depending on how next episode plays out.
Sweetie, who taught you to pull the faces you have been through this season? We need a word. It might be a portion of his face being obscured, but it almost looks like he’s showing some desperation, the kind that he’s achieved his goal, only to realize the severity of it. Though with what we’ve been shown to this point, it’s apparent that isn’t the case.
Team Suiko & Ibuki rise.
Immensely grateful that Aichi and Emi have a personal standoff, had been starting to worry about the possibility of it not happening with the emphasis of the fight once the Blasters were removed being on Shuka. Is it bad that had a little aw moment when he warned her about it being dangerous, like a good big brother?
Someone please drill it into him that neither of them playing Vanguard has anything to do with the Kai parents abandoning him so he doesn’t need to do this. Drill it in that he’s making his own family miserable.
I was kidding about setting important books on fire, guys, don’t take it seriously.
Caught on just in time by way of Kai-kun’s line, but the sheer desperation of Aichi to hold onto his Ride is painful; when Emi’s there crying out to her brother, who clings onto his vision and looks devastated when it’s ripped away from him. The direction of the sequence was incredible.
Emi’s dearest people suffering all at once hour.
It’s actually astonishing that, for the sake of stopping him, Shuka granted Aichi’s wish and makes him the most successful of the antagonists.
“Hey play nice”. “ —O HM YGOD SHE ACTUALLY DI D IT”. “Thanks for putting him back into his turtleneck”.
Hey we don’t do death here unless you’re a parent, this wasn’t in the contract.
You can tell the animation budget was saved up for this episode, between the boys fighting and Shuka’s send-off. The episode as a whole is quite stunning.   — yoinked from chat log: 07:44 I love how Aichi is just in the back snoozing during all this but is it really a good idea to take our eyes off of him? Nome and/or Brandt brain cells yelling
This poor girl has been through so much in such a short period of time, she deserves all the hugs from her brother and remaining friends. Though Kamui has been through an enormous amount for a child of his age, he was never put in this position and with his personality, he appears to handle all the trouble much better.
07:47  NOME AND/OR BRANDT BRAIN CELLS SCREAMING INTENSIFIES
There's our little wind lobster!
07:49 GUYS IM TELLING YOU, SOMEONE KEEP AN EYE ON HIM
Kourin has the most nightmarish face but this tops the most horrifying instances in general, right? Because it definitely fucking feels like it HOLY FUCKING SHIT.
IF 24 preview: Kai-kun handing a card to a younger Sendou, and I am gone (again).   — With cards and magical girls and Realizing out the window, very eager to see how this fiasco is getting resolved. Neon Messiah Aichi still had the game to get himself back on his feet, but that’s simply not an option for the IF crew, plcaing them in a much more dire final hour. Also protect the babies.

Designing Your Melody: Chapter 13 - Kisses
Chapter 01 - Chapter 12
“Viperion, are you humming right now?” Carapace asked. “You do realize we’re in the middle of a boss fight, right?”
“Leave the boy alone, Carapace. It’s obvious something good happened to him for him to be in such a good mood.” Rena Rouge scolded. Viperion chuckled at how fiercely she’d defended him, even though it didn’t bother him at all to be called out like that in the clan chat.
“Really? Care to share with the rest of the class?” Ladybug teased. She was a little disappointed that his humming had stopped, though. It made her smile to hear him unconsciously expressing his pleasure. He had an excellent humming voice. Is that even a thing? Or is it just a singing voice? Regardless, she enjoyed listening to him regardless of what kind of sound he was making. The smooth tone of his voice did wonderful things to her nerves and gave flight to the butterflies in her stomach.
“Well,” he said, hesitating. “I found her, guys.” He felt a little weird mentioning Marinette around Ladybug. She hadn’t been online when he had initially discussed his little problem regarding the hard-to-find designer, and now he was wondering if he shouldn’t have just kept it to himself. He and Ladybug had been growing closer over the past few months and it didn’t feel right talking about another girl when she was listening. But he was happy that he had found her and wanted to talk about it to his friends.
“You seriously found her?” Chat Noir asked. “Congrats! I’m glad it worked out for you.”
Carapace began giggling into his microphone, trying hard to hold back his laughter but failing miserably in the end.
“Hey, are you okay?” Chat’s voice sounded confused. What was so funny about Viperion finding the girl he’d been searching for? Chat was happy that his friend would finally be able to talk to her about her design. Plus, it was really sweet that he’d been so affected by her that he kept hearing her song in his head. He wasn’t really sure what that meant exactly, but Viperion obviously couldn’t forget about the girl… A feeling he knew all too well.
“Hold on a second,” Rena said. “Who is ‘her’?” She knew that her friend had a minor fascination with their reptilian clan mate, but if he was off the market, that would make things difficult for her to ship them together. She’d been trying for weeks to get Nino to tell her who he was, but her boyfriend was even harder to crack than his namesake.
“I first mentioned her to the guys about a month ago. You and Ladybug weren’t on that night, so I guess they didn’t tell you about it, huh?”
“No,” She replied through clenched teeth. “Carapace definitely did not mention that you were looking for some random girl.”
Carapace’s nervous chuckle echoed in their headsets. He was sure that his girlfriend would give him hell for not telling her about it later.
“Anyway, I’ve been looking for someone for a while now and I finally found her the other day.”
“That’s awesome, Viperion,” Chat cheered. He was a sucker for happy endings, especially since his own life felt like such a tragedy.
“Oh, Chat, if you only knew…” Carapace’s cryptic response confused everybody, but he quickly changed the subject before they could ask him about it. “So, are you going to see her again?”
“Yeah, we’re going to get together again later this week,” he replied, his anticipation palpable for them to hear.
“Aw, that’s great,” Chat cooed. “Good luck, buddy.”
A loud smack filtered through their headsets. Unbeknownst to the other listeners, Nino had slapped his forehead in exasperation at how completely clueless his friends were. Seriously, it was too much for him to take sometimes.
“That’s…awesome, Viperion. It’s just…awesome. If you’re so interested in her, she must be just…awesome.” Ladybug’s voice was stilted and they all could tell that something had upset their friend.
“Girl, you okay?” Rena had hoped that she wouldn’t be upset by this development, but it looked like it was inevitable. She sighed, knowing that she’d be doing damage control soon.
“Yeah, Rena, I’m awesome. I just remembered that I had this…thing I had to do so I’m gonna log off. I’ll talk to you later.”
With that, her avatar disappeared, indicating that she was now offline.
Viperion was concerned. Ladybug usually wasn’t the type of player to quit in the middle of battle, especially a boss battle. It was apparent that something had bothered her about the direction their conversation had taken. Maybe she was disappointed that he had been talking about stuff that had happened in the real world, something she was adamant about keeping separate from gaming. He felt guilty for driving her away. “Was it something I said?” he asked his friends.
“Dude,” Carapace said seriously, “you have no idea…”
-xXx-xXx-xXx-xXx-xXx-xXx-xXx-
It’s been almost a week since the fashion show and Luka’s patience was finally paying off.
Finally, after months of being stuck in the middle of the tug-of-war game between Mr. Roth and Jagged Stone, he’s been set free.
Under normal circumstances, he wouldn’t mind being forced to come to the studio day after day to play for his idol, but the futility of the exercise and the fact that he had something else he would much rather be doing was enough to make the normally patient man quite irritable. His sister had even commented that he seemed to be on edge lately and wondered what the cause for it was.
But now, thank god, Vivica was back from her maternity leave and ready to take his place as Jagged’s guitarist. Luka didn’t mind being a temporary replacement. After all, he had no grand ambitions of being a rock star or anything. He just loved to play, even if it was playing someone else’s music.
Though, considering everything he and Jagged had worked on had been scrapped, it wasn’t as if he’d be given any sort of credit for the time he put in at the studio.
He didn’t let that bother him. He knew that if Jagged needed him again, he’d be there to play for him, no matter how frustrating the circumstances were.
The silver lining to the whole situation was that now he was free to pursue his current interest: a Miss Marinette DuPain-Cheng.
Resting his bike against the side of the bakery, he looked up at the storefront with a barely suppressed smile gracing his face. He’d been looking forward to seeing her again. He’d refrained from texting her until he would be able to see her for his fitting, even though every fiber of his being wanted to reach out to her.
Adjusting the acoustic guitar strapped to his back, he entered the shop where he was immediately comforted by the warm ambiance of the bakery. Sabine was behind the counter, as always. When she looked up at the bell ringing and saw him, she greeted him with a smile as sweet at the macaroons she was boxing up for a customer.
“Luka! Welcome back, sweetie. We haven’t seen you in a couple of days and I was starting to worry about you.”
He grinned down at the tiny Asian woman. Despite his true motive for frequenting the bakery in the past, he honestly had missed the gentle woman. However, he’d never admit to her that he’d actually been coming to the bakery so often in an attempt to track down her daughter. He didn’t think that admission would go over so well. Especially since he’d heard about how fiercely protective Tom DuPain was of his only daughter.
“I’m sorry I haven’t been by lately. Work has been keeping me busy, unfortunately.” He walked up to the counter. “But now I’ve got some time to spare, so I came to visit.”
She laughed. “Don’t bother trying to suck up to me. I know you’re here to see Marinette. She told me you’d found one of her designs and wanted her to make it for you.”
His eyebrows raised. Guess he was busted. “She told you about that, huh?”
She nodded. “Yes, she did, dear. I’m just surprised that you were able to find her based only on one of her drawings.”
He chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. “I actually have you to thank. I made the connection when I delivered that fabric to her room. I saw her designs on the wall and I recognized her signature.”
“Ah,” she said knowingly. “So that’s why you became such a regular customer.” Her usually cheerful face fell into a disappointed frown. “And here I thought you were coming for my pastries.”
Luka raised his hands in surrender. “I did come for your pastries. Honestly. They’re the best in the city! I would have come even if Marinette wasn’t here.” He spoke quickly, hoping to avoid offending the petite woman.
Taking pity on the poor boy, she started to laugh. “Relax, sweetie. I know.” She nodded her head toward the stairs that led to their apartment. “Head on up. She’s expecting you.”
Relieved that Mrs. Cheng didn’t hold his true motive for all his visits to the bakery against him, he climbed up the multiple staircases to Marinette’s space.
Upon opening her trap door, he could see that she was definitely not expecting his arrival.
Hunched over her desk, she looked almost possessed by whatever it was she was working on in her notebook. Her hair is pulled back in a messy bun and there’s a spare pencil tucked behind her ear. There’s another pencil between her clenched teeth as her almost crazed eyes scanned the page. With a growl, she grabbed a white eraser and began to furiously attack the paper with it. With a frustrated growl, she tossed the eraser aside, she used the pencil between her teeth to continue working.
It was obvious to Luka that she hadn’t heard the thump of the trap door opening, so rather than interrupt her work, he simply walked over to her pink chaise lounge and made himself comfortable. She was so interesting to watch when she was focused on a task. He could see her energy barely contained in her movements. Her hand jerked and swept across the paper.
Inspired by the movements her pencil made as she created her own form of beauty, he brought his guitar around and began to quietly play. Tempo fast, notes discordant, he created a melody to accompany the frantic dance of her hand.
Minutes pass before Marinette registered the music playing at the edge of her senses. Glancing toward the source, she was shocked to see Luka sitting with his legs folded under him to support the guitar he was playing.
With a squeak, she began to apologize. “I’m so sorry, I didn’t hear you come in.”
He didn’t even look at her as he continued to play, transitioning from her frantic song, to a slower melody, its gentle chords slowing her heartbeat and easing her tension. “It’s okay. I understand what it is to be taken over by inspiration. To have the world around you fall away and nothing else exists but what you’re creating.”
Her shoulders relaxed. Of course, he would get it. Feeling much more relaxed and less embarrassed at being caught in the midst of a designing storm, she released the breath she hadn’t known she’d been holding. “Thanks for your understanding. Just give me a minute to get this cleaned up and we can get started getting your measurements.”
She quickly gathered the papers scattered around her desk and stuffed them haphazardly in a folder.
“There’s no rush.” He looked up at her then, eyes piercing through his hair. “I like watching you work. The way your hand flies over the page as your drawing, it’s almost like a dance.” He smiled softly at her blank expression. “I was just providing some music for you to dance to.”
Marinette’s mind went blank as she stared dumbly at the musician.
“Yes., well, yeah…” She didn’t know what to say to that. What do you say to something like that? How do you respond to something so beautiful? “Let’s get started, shall we?”
Kissing any chance of this not being an embarrassing experience for both of them goodbye, she gestured to the stool in the middle of the room for him to climb on so she could take his measurements.
‘Oh god, what have I gotten myself into?’ she asked herself once more.

Chapter 14
*Sorry for the delay. I wasn't certain on where I wanted the story to go from here, but I finally figured it out. My original plan was to have 29 chapters to this story, to go along with the 29 days of Lukanette February prompts. Now, I'm not sure if I want to drag it out for that long. But I DO know that there will be at least a few more chapters to this. There's a lot of things I need to resolve before I can say "and they lived happily ever after" or whatever.
Special thanks to @novicevoice, @skatsh18, @macaknight, and @unabashedbookworm for your comments. I’m glad you all like this story I’ve come up with. Your kind words are very much appreciated <3
Until next time, my lovelies XOXO*
