Sam & Castiel // Like a Virgin (6x12)
image description: scene comparisons from “Swan Song,” “The Third Man,” “Family Matters,” “Caged Heat,” “Like a Virgin,” and “The Man Who Would Be King”
5x22: Sam approaches Castiel in an alley, attempting to shake his hand before he and Dean go to Lucifer. He says, “Take care of these guys, okay?” Castiel tilts his head and tells him apologetically, “That's not possible.” Sam closes his eyes and lets his hand fall away, laughing a little.
6x12: (1) Sam steps away from hugging Bobby, confused, saying, “Wait, I saw you– I felt Lucifer snap your neck.” Bobby starts to respond, “Well, Cas kind of–” but Sam cuts him off asking, “Cas is alive?” Dean tells him, “Yeah, Cas– Cas is fine, Sam, are you okay?” Sam whips his head around to look at him, grinning in relief.
6x12: (2) Sam and Dean sit at Bobby's kitchen table with beers and a sandwich for Sam, Bobby stands at the counter, arms folded. Sam looks down saying, “What? I was downstairs for– I don't remember anything.” Dean processes this, then Sam asks, “So how'd I get back? Was it Cas?” he looks from Dean to Bobby. Dean looks away, scoffing a little, responding, “Not exactly.”
6x12: (3) Still in the kitchen, Sam looks up at Bobby confused, as he and Dean stare each other down, both looking harsh. Sam quietly, “Is there anything else I should know?” Dean pauses a bit, then he shakes his head and says, No.” grabbing his beer.
6x12: (4) Sam sits at a small table in a motel room, he prays hesitantly, “Castiel, um. I'm back. So, if you got a minute...” He looks around, not optimistic. He quickly sits up straighter as he sees Castiel has appeared in front of him. Sam slowly stands up, rapt, as Castiel says, “Sam. It's so good to see you alive.”
6x20: Soulless Sam turns away from watching Dean at Lisa's house, he walks right past Castiel who watches him, unseen. Castiel turns his head to watch him leave, brow furrowed and looking confused. Castiel's retrospective voice-over says, “Sometimes we're lucky enough to be given a warning. This should've been mine.”
6x03: Soulless Sam is seated, turned toward Castiel who has appeared in their hotel room. He says, “‘Hello’?” in an exasperated tone. Castiel tilts his head slightly and hesitates before nodding and saying, “Yes.” Sam turns to Dean, sitting father away on his bed, shocked. Dean shrugs a little, and Sam mimics Castiel's voice saying, “‘Hello.’” and turns back to Castiel again, indignantly repeating, “Hello?!”
6x07: Dean speaks to Castiel across the room from Sam, who watches them. His face is bloody and Dean has him tied to a chair. Dean asks Castiel, “So, is he even still Sam?” Sam watches quietly, and Castiel turns back to look at him thoughtfully, saying, “Well, you pose an interesting philosophical question.” Sam tilts his head up a bit, blinking.
6x10: Sam and Castiel stand outside on the road at night. Castiel looks up at him shaking his head slightly. He dismissively says, “You need help, Sam.” Sam counters, “I need your help.” Castiel tilts his head and squints a little.
6x12: (5) (continuation of the scene in the motel room) Sam gives Castiel a small smile, nodding, and responds saying, “Yeah. You too.” Castiel slowly approaches to hug him, but as he comes close Sam quickly sits down to avoid him, looking away. Castiel freezes a little with his arms still slightly raised, faltering. Sam doesn't look up at him, but says, “Look, I– I would hug you, but–” Castiel interrupts him by finishing, “That would be awkward.” Sam shifts uncomfortably, and Castiel turns away, embarrassed.

the ending of the last two episodes has been 100% inevitable as soon as the scenes began.
we knew without uncertainty that kim would turn her car around. we screamed at the screen for her to keep driving regardless, to go to her meeting.
we knew without uncertainty that howard was done for as soon as lalo showed up, as soon as the gun came out. we screamed at the screen for him to leave regardless, to escape, to live.

this morning i decided to rank every episode in which blaine appears or is mentioned by the merit of their blaine content. because, i don't know, i'm very neurodivergent or something. so here is, in my opinion, the best to worst blaine episodes:
1. 3x15 “Big Brother”: has a micro celebrity older brother, gets very upset about everyone pointing at him, skips skip day, gets a stuffed animal from his boyfriend, doesn’t feel good enough with his brother around, and reconciles
2. 5x07 “Puppet Master”: has an autistic meltdown, gets gas poisoning, imagines everybody loves him, wants to share his core wounds, gives jake strange advice, steals, and sends puppets to new york city
3. 4x07 “Dynamic Duets”: creates a superhero alter ego, meets evil warbler #2, does autistic stuff, and wants to stop feeling like he’s a bad person
4. 2x12 “Silly Love Songs”: makes a fool out of kurt accidentally, makes a fool out of himself in a gap, becomes a part of a ‘when harry met sally’ situationship, and sings two solos
5. 4x03 “Makeover”: becomes a huge nerd and the president, makes a friend, lies to artie, and realizes he is sad and alone
6. 2x20 “Prom Queen”: delivers part three of his traumatic backstory, is very afraid, makes his solo story relevant, and saves the prom!
7. 4x17 “Guilty Pleasures”: likes wham, is a swiftie in the alternate universe of the promo, sings sam a strangely emotional song, and sam is not homophobic to him
8. 3x17 “Dance with Somebody”: tells everybody that it’s not right but it’s okay, doesn’t want to talk about new york, and has weirdly tan hands
9. 2x16 “Original Song”: forms blaine and the pips, ignores mourning a bird in favor of love, conceives of the worst duet idea of all time, gains +1 boyfriend, and sings two solos
10. 2x06 “Never Been Kissed”: shifts the tectonic plates by making his first appearance, sings teenage dream, delivers part one of his traumatic backstory, and thinks that karofsky isn’t coming out anytime soon
11. 4x16 “Feud”: has cement hair, has his identity stolen, is on the bottom, and is forced to join the cheerios again by nicki minaj
12. 6x07 “Transitioning”: gets hit with some eggs, has a serious case of heart eyes, and cheats but in a cool way this time
13. 5x14 “New New York”: cheers up sam, becomes elliott’s facebook friend, has a good talk with kurt, and moves in with mercedes
14. 3x05 “The First Time”: gets virgin shamed, canonically masturbates, meets evil warbler #1, makes out with kurt hummel drunk, and has sex
15. 2x14 “Blame it on the Alcohol”: thinks it’s cool that kurt and finn are brothers, makes out with rachel berry drunk, defends bisexuals, and is 100% gay
16. 3x11 “Michael”: wants to be starting something, gives the warblers sensitive information, and could lose an eye!
17. 4x11 “Sadie Hawkins”: gets asked out by a girl, has a crush on a boy, and finds out the warblers are taking steroids?!
18. 6x04/05 “The Hurt Locker”: forgets his mom’s name, finds a bear in his house, remembers fettuccine alfredo, and sticks his tongue right in someone’s mouth
19. 4x14 “I Do”: gets groped in a prius, has his honor defended, has sex in a hotel room, and knows he and kurt will not be just friends
20. 5x16 “Tested”: has body image issues, watches porn, admits that he’s scared kurt will stop loving him, and is misinterpreted by the entire fandom
21. 4x04 “The Break Up”: screams, cries, throws up, sobs, falls to his knees,
22. 2x09 “Special Education”: helps kurt out at his new school, doesn’t audition for the solo at sectionals, sings the solo at sectionals, gives kurt bird advice
23. 4x10 “Glee, Actually”: who’s blaine? ice skates and has a mature talk
24. 3x01 “The Purple Piano Project”: joins the new directions, unknowingly blows up a piano, and tries his best to be friendly

29. 2x15 “Sexy”: takes advice from sue sylvester, is very cringe, and delivers part two of his traumatic backstory
30. 3x02 “I Am Unicorn”: #juniorgate, is the only person respectful of kurt, and gives great audition #1
31. 4x06 “Glease”: continues to suffer, breaks character, and stands hollow eyed in the hallway
32. 3x08 “Hold on to Sixteen” fights sam, fights finn, and does what his father said and let his mother mold him
33. 5x06 “Movin Out”: visits new york, considers being a doctor or a teacher, and is the piano man
34. 2x11 “The Sue Sylvester Shuffle”: sings a banger solo, mercedes and rachel talk at him while he eats, and he attends a mckinley football game

36. 3x14 “On My Way”: has an emotional breakdown in front of god and everyone, and then raps
37. 4x05 “The Role You Were Born to Play”: cries and sings his best solo, which is great audition #2

44. 4x08 “Thanksgiving”: doesn’t exist until kurt calls him on the phone, and yet it’s such a good phone call that it beats the episodes below

it’s been a hot minute since i’ve gone on a deep dive about station 19 (partially my faul because i’m busy losing my marbles on twitter, what can i say) anyways, i wanted to go in depth about the episodes because it’s nice to do what i started doing and two it allows me to rewatch the episode and catch details that i normally wouldn’t when i’m watching it live. after all that being said, buckle up folks it’s 6x07 time! as usual spoilers ahead:
picking up right where we left off, the incident at meredith’s which of course was the scene where 19 was called at and of course what mortified all of us for more than 100 days, maya’s fall and her injuries once someone found her + also interesting to notice that beckett allowed andy to handle the scene, does that mean he was unable to call the shots or he’s playing safe here? + jack finding maya made sense since he was there but i’m curious, he noticed her turnouts on the floor and didn’t wonder where she was? like if she was on desk duty her turnouts wouldn’t be there in the first place idk
something that lots of people pointed out is that jack just carried maya without any support on her neck and back and i agree with them, he didn’t know the extent of her injuries or how long she was down, i’m wondering why he didn’t call 911 first and just waited for them to help but i guess that was made for the drama (?) + i’m wondering how the whole mayor storyline will unfold, like is montgomery gonna quit being a firefighter or what? unless dixon gets arrested or something for a scandal i don’t know where this is headed
i just wished ross character wasn’t involved romantically with sullivan that would be great + oh travis you messed up big time + this story was wild af, to think that these things happen all the time and they turn way worse than this is disgusting + the way maya pushed herself to that limit hurts my soul, to know that she will get the help she needs down the road gives me a little comfort but right now it hurts + i have to say the cuffs threw me off so badly😂
“where’s carina?” oh no poor maya this is just the beginning of a rollercoaster + “you look guilty” lmao busted + this is so random for sure + poor kid :( + the second carina saw jack she knew something was wrong, the tremble in her voice gave it away + i have to say danielle’s performance is so incredible, you can notice how broken maya looks by just staring at her eyes + and of course she doesn’t realize how bad she is… trauma and abuse is a hell of a thing
hughes, herrera and ross were the mvp of this episode totally + i was so tense the entire scene geez + this scene is so important when jack tells carina about maya, at first i was like ugh not again jack being in the middle of maya and carina but rewatching it i noticed how this seems to be the moment where carina chooses to help maya whether she wants it or not.
these women are incredible and i wished they would fight sexism and the abuse within the force because i know they can
not adrdessing the ladies too much because the two storylines happening are literally the only thing i was able to think for this entire episode
the way maya doesn’t even begin to see how hurt she is and how badly she needs to allow others to help hurts me, the worst part is that so many people can relate to this, growing up under abusive parenting can result into this and even worse things, i just wanna hug maya so badly
i also want to hug carina so badly, i don’t think she knows the extent of maya’s trauma maybe just bits and pieces but not the whole story which makes me wonder if the show will ever let them figure this out and have a conversation about it + i hate how they all worried after maya literally was vanishing in front of them like ugh + i’m surprised how no one has actually caught beckett day drinking, this man has been slipping since he got to station 19 + carina leaving really broke me :(
that was such an emotional episode like wow i ended up having to lay down for a minute or two because my head was spinning. i watched this live, i read lots of opinions about maya and carina and i just have to say there’s no good or bad in this story, maya has endured abuse her entire life and as result she pushes herself to the point of hurting, physically and mentally of course; carina also has endured abuse but the way she was affected by this is clearly different from maya’s, she isn’t a bad person by taking some space and time to understand the next steps, she has to take care of herself and in order to do that she needed maya to understand she needs help too. it’s so easy to point fingers and say “oh maya is horrible for saying those things” or “carina is awful because she left”. maya is hurt and obviously what she said wasn’t nice by any means but i remember reading somewhere that hurt people hurts people, and again carina has spend basically her entire life taking care of others, she needs the space to heal and allow maya to heal too.
station 19 came back stronger than ever and after this episode and 6x08 (which i watched live but i’m gonna rewatch because the streaming was wacky) it makes me feel that we’re getting something far better than we got in season 5 and for that i’m grateful. it may or may not be the writer’s intention but they created the most layered and best character in the entire show and her name is maya bishop. catch ya in the next one!

For what it's worth, given that we're talking about September 2023 - I'll gladly join you in a stacked rewatch for The 100. I've tried to rewatch in order and it's just impossible for me now, but I think the air date method is a really novel way to mix it up. Count me in! (In ten months, lol.)
I often find myself missing the ~energy of this fandom (read: exclusively that of my mutuals in my little dash <3), so if any of you joined me I'd love it! I do want to rewatch the show eventually, but like you, thinking of a regular rewatch... eh. But this way is a lot of fun and can lead to really interesting findings IMO.
(in particular, I think a rewatch of this show, knowing all I know in hindsight, it's going to make Clarke a more enjoyable protagonist for me LMAO)
The (tentative) idea would be start in October 22nd 2023 (in part so I have time after finishing stackediaries lol), with the second season's premiere. That way, we'd finish on September 30th (2024) with the proper series finale. I'm c&p how the schedule would look under the cut:

One Piece 100 Days Challenge!
Day 45: Favorite part of East Blue Saga?
The entire Arlong Park arc, but I'll specify.
I've already mentioned several times the pool scene where Nami saves Zoro. I have talked about it in a youtube video I made about Zoro and Nami in the East Blue saga (this one, it's in Spanish because I couldn't express myself as I would like if I did it in English but I make an attempt to analyze Zoro and Nami's relationship throughout the story between them and with other characters). It's a scene I've seen a thousand times because I watch it when I'm sad or I've had a bad day.
The pool scene is very important for me, as I also said before it’s the scene that made me watch One Piece from the beginning. It is MY scene, I have seen dozens and dozens of tv shows (movies too, although not so many) and right now I can only think of three other scenes that I consider part of me like this one (if you are curious, two are from episodes 2x05 and 2x09 of Black Sails and the other is from episode 6x07 of Better Call Saul, I won't go into details because they are huge spoilers but if you have seen them you will probably know which scenes I’m referring to).
It fascinates me so much because Zoro at the beginning agrees (reluctantly) to go to look for Nami just because Luffy ordered him to. But then Mihawk arrives before he leaves the Baratie, Zoro challenges him and suffers a humiliating defeat. The only time we see him cry as an adult is when he promises Luffy to follow him and become the best swordsman in the world and it becomes the moment when he stops seeing the crew as a means, but as an end in itself. And when he arrives in Arlong Park and discovers Nami's betrayal, he realizes from her expression that something else is going on. He doesn't know what, but he understands that the Nami in front of him who is threatening him is not real, that the real one is the one he already knows.
And so, just to prove his point, he throws himself into the water bound and badly wounded after his battle with Mihawk, knowing that Nami is his only chance to live. Zoro has very little regard for his own body (something that will be shown later in several situations) but he is not suicidal, he was sure that Nami was not going to let him die. Remember in which circumstances they met.
I will never shut the fuck up about this scene, oh my god (this picture is literally my lockscreen :D).

Why are the demo numbers different for 6x07 in prelim vs final? You'd think they'd be higher considering it was .70 prelim, no?
I'm not 100% sure. I'm guessing there was an error when determining the prelims that they corrected with the final numbers. I think I've seen it once for 911 before but it wasn't as big of a drop.

29, 58, and 88 :)
Hi! Thanks for the ask!
29. give us a spoiler for one of your stories.
Hmmm I'm going to go with my post-6x07 fic: It doesn't all turn out okay in the end.
(That doesn't mean there's some horrible tragic ending. It just means that life is complicated and people are allowed to make decisions about their life even if they're the "wrong" ones... and that there are situations where once you're a certain ways in, it's not possible to get back to a point where everything is fine and no one gets hurt, so all you can do is go from there.)
58. what is the last thing that a fic made you google when you were writing it?
I had to look back at my latest wip to remember but I believe it was "lymph nodes" to confirm that that is in fact the correct term for the swollen glands that happen with a sore throat. (I had a moment of doubt that the term might only apply to the things in the armpits!)
88. if you could have another author write your wip for you (bc we all dream of this occasionally), who would it be?
@renecdote, 100%. Our styles are very compatible. <3 (And I think becoming even more so over time lol.)
more asks welcome!

The 100 Braindump (1)
This is literally so late, but whatever, I only started watching this show last month.
So, I will start with a disclaimer: I only watched up until 6x07, and I have a vague idea of what happened till the end. I am in no way trying to provoke or anger anybody; I just want to express how I interpreted the show.
I will start with what I think about Clarke and her character in terms of the story. Clarke spent the first 4 seasons trying her best to save as many people as possible. But she's human, so she made mistakes. Who doesn't? In general, she was well-intentioned, and despite all the wrongs she's committed, they were mostly justified or at least understandable. Her journey in season 2 was about facing the reality of being a leader (no good choices). Her major inner conflict that season was trying to reconcile who she is and her morals with what she had to do as leader of her people. This is mainly seen through her interactions with Lexa. In Lexa, Clarke saw a path that her life would take depending on what type of leader she chose to be. Lexa was ruthless, calculating, cold, and single-minded in that she'd do anything in the best interest of her people. What is interesting about their dynamic in season 2 is that Clarke could see past Lexa's walls almost immediately. Clarke didn't just see ruthless Heda; a glimpse into Clarke's future if she let her burdens drown her. Clarke saw past that and saw glimpses of Lexa, the girl who was forced to grow up too fast and buried herself in her walls to protect her heart (I don't think Lexa and Heda are separate per se; they're intertwined, but I do believe there is a clear distinction between them). In season 2, Clarke opened her mind to Lexa's philosophy and advice (love is weakness) and tried to internalize it. But we also saw Clarke reject parts of it because it isn't the type of leader she wanted to become(she didn't want to lose herself to her duty, which is part of why she left after Mount Weather). Then, we saw Lexa do the same. We saw her choose to lower her walls, open her heart, and let it help empower her head when making decisions. So Clarke learned from Lexa, and Lexa learned from Clarke. They taught each other how to balance their heads and their hearts when leading. Now, back to Clarke, her turning point in season 2 regarding her learning to reconcile herself as a person and as a leader was the finale, where she chose to commit genocide to save the 48. This decision haunted Clarke heavily; she knew it was wrong, but she had no choice. In that moment, Clarke learned that she would turn herself into a monster (how she viewed herself) if it meant her people's safety. So, I think that her mindset when she left Camp Jaha was that she knew if she stayed, people would look to her as their leader. Clarke is a protector; she would have led them if she stayed. So, how I viewed it was that she was afraid that she would lose herself to her role as leader if she stayed. That she would have to sacrifice her goodness and kindness (because Clarke was always a kind character) to be capable as their leader. She needed time to regain herself before taking on more burdens. And she probably also figured that her duty to them was done; she got them out of Mount Weather, and that's the only reason she took charge in the first place. Her mistake in that scene was choosing to trust Bellamy. I think she saw in him the person he could have grown to be and not the person he actually was(let's be real, in seasons 1-3, he was a follower, and his morals usually reflected those of who he followed). This is a common thing with Bellamy; the characters around him see him as the person he pretends to be and not who he actually is (this is a loose claim considering how inconsistent his character is ).
