Your honest thoughts on Lonnie +family?(i.e her parents and older brother)
Tumblr media
OOPS HELLO. SORRY IM LATE
1) i loooooooooooove lonnie she's my girl and everyone's favourite scene the Kitchen Scene TM is such a good place to show her kindness and her compassion
2) i wish we could've seen her with her family rather than have mulan's name tossed around for her reputation
also li'l shang is the stupidest name i have ever heard and any cool bi reawakenings he might've given jay in that r.o.a.r. practice moment were completely drowned out by de la cruz's bad shitty naming. i hate it and lonnie's cool older brother deserves better
3) that said i do like how lonnie followed in her mother's footsteps to join r.o.a.r.!! it shows us her own character agency and how much she looks up to her mother (and in the greater worldbuilding scheme shows us how much auradon really . hasn't improved since the storybook generation's troubles)
4) god i love her friendship with jay. i wish they showed us more tourney because that would have been a Real teamwork moment for the two of them that they could have given us
gonna divert from numbered points because the rest of the thoughts that i have on her are very jumbled :")
her wardrobe in d1 is very in the vein of . it looks vaguely east asian to hammer home that she's Mulan's Daughter and im not any expert in huafu but it feels like one of those things that's just made to Look oriental without much actual thought or research put into it
so that's part of what lands her in the token asian girl category because she's represented as Nebulously East Asian rather than Chinese as she should be, which shows their lack of care for genuine representation and more just to say "hey look the cast isn't entirely white" (further compounded by the fact iirc her actress isn't ethnically chinese? might be wrong don't quote me on that but like booboo isn't swana and they still cast him for the son of jafar so u know. :') not a great track record)
(also these are more personal bitter thoughts from a 3rd gen chinese person who's been into descendants since it came out but when she wanted Cool Hair and they made her hair lighter, longer, and wavy it made 13 y/o me really sad and then further ostracized when she said that mulan would make chocolate chip cookies w her rather than any typical chinese dessert)
and idk how far you guys have read into the books but that one where she dragged ben away to settle a dispute between china and agrabah that was 1) ridiculous 2) petty 3) had both sides be incredibly hostile and obstinate which required the white boy king to step in and hash it out 4) gave ben. bubble tea and a steak as part of Chinese Cuisine. 5) resulted in them DESTROYING PART OF THE GREAT WALL TO PUT A DOOR IN??? . very uncomfortable did not enjoy. the sole redeeming part of this miserable side plot was that it told us that lonnie and ben were childhood friends and i think that's really cute

Kim Soo Hyun’s Most Iconic Moments
In honor of Kim Soo Hyun’s birthday, I have compiled a list of my favorite KSH’s on screen and off screen moments! Happy Birthday Soo Hyun!
1. During the Jenga Interview on The Swoon, when Kim Soo Hyun was asked to say “Wanna watch Netlfix with me?” in a concept decided by his co-stars, KSH freaked out and was super flustered and was like how could you ask me to say that because he thought they wanted him to say Netflix and Chill, and the staff had to clarify that they meant it literally.
2.  KSH having the time of his life singing “Wind” on the show “Kiss The Radio” and let’s not forget the moment that he randomly starts growling cause the pitch of the song was too high for his voice
3. Kim Soo Hyun spilling facts when he said “It’s not bubble tea without the pearls [...] that’s just tea”.
4. Seo Yea Ji answering that she’s okay with a friend who tells bad jokes because Soo Hyun did that all the time, so she’s okay with bad jokes now.
5. KSH’s jaw-dropping cameo in Hotel del Luna that left all of us wanting more
6. KSH’s goofy cameo in Crash Landing on You, where he plays his character in Secretly, Greatly
7.  KHS yodeling during an awards show
8.KSH singing in an opera voice in It’s Okay to Not Be Okay BTS
9. KSH unashamedly admitting that he is attracted to Seo Yea Ji’s voice and then being all cute and flustered when she says that the worst thing about working with him is that he’s handsome.
10. KSH chewing gum throughout all of Real

What The Heck Is Going On Between Kim Soo Hyun and Seo Yea Ji? - A Story About Respecting Autonomy
Hyunji ( Kim Soo Hyun + Seo Yea Ji) is perhaps the most tumultuous ride I’ve ever embarked on....
If you were ever obsessed with It’s Okay To Not Be Okay as much as I was and still am, perhaps one of the biggest reasons why is that you enjoyed the chemistry between the two leads, so much so that you write an entire tumblr essay on it. If you were also like me, you also spent a whole day binge-watching the bloopers, behind the scenes, and cast interviews and were treated to a glorious amount of flirting between Kim Soo Hyun and Seo Yea Ji. We witnessed Kim Soo Hyun placing her coat over her when she was cold, unwrapping her Subway sandwich, carrying her across the room, and struggling to not blush every single time they just happened to slightly touch. We saw interviews where they unashamedly flirted with each other and were not afraid to even show skinship (insert gasp) during such interviews. They even left easter eggs for us (did anyone notice during the radio interview that they both did, Kim Soo Hyun was wearing Seo Yea Ji’s bracelet ahh). The content was so unbelievable that many fans wondered if all of this was a marketing ploy. Chances are that at some point you became a hardcore hyunji stan.
You may have thought that hyunji would be a smooth sailing ship, when considering their behavior during interviews and the fact that both belong to the same agency that happens to be very small because it was only recently formed. However, you soon realize that you were sorely mistaken because hyunji is a ship that in many ways feels like its stranded at sea. Since the show’s airing, there has been very little to no hyunji content. Between the months of September 2020 to January 2021, we have only seen one combined appearance of Kim Soo Hyun and Seo Yea Ji, where they briefly shared less than a minute on stage when they both won the same award at Asia Artist Awards. Since then, Kim Soo Hyun did not attend APAN, while Seo Yea Ji briefly mentioned him in the speeches for both of her awards. Considering the widespread positive reception that their pairing has received , it is surprising to see them not capitalize on this popularity, especially if you are American. In the United States, celebrity couples are a lot more transparent about their relationships and the line between personal and private is blurred. For instance,  singers like John Legend and Zayn Malik have both featured their respective partners in their music videos and celebrities like Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper used their chemistry in A Star is Born to create an iconic Oscars performance. However, the Korean entertainment industry is markedly different and could be the reason why it almost seems like Kim Soo Hyun and Seo Yea Ji are trying to avoid each other.
What perhaps is the most interesting facet of the Korean entertainment industry is the fact that dating announcements are considered “scandals”. They are not moments to be cherished, but ones that spark concern. When Korean celebrities choose to embark on public relationships, they risk breaking agency contracts and losing millions of dollars in advertising because fans can disapprove of the relationship and resort to rigorous trolling and cyberbullying on social media. This anti-fan culture has become so normalized that many celebrities preemptively apologize or ask for their fans’ blessings. For instance, Son Ye Jin, whose relationship with co-star Hyun Bin was exposed by Dispatch, admitted to fans that she felt embarrassed and hoped that the fans could be happy for her. Therefore, it’s not a shock, that Seo Yea Ji, who has previously filed a sexual harrassment claim against internet trolls would not want any of her romantic relationships made public. A relationship with Kim Soo Hyun, the highest paid actor in South Korea, could warrant unnecessary attention and hate that could potentially disproportionately fall on Seo Yea Ji because of her status as an underrated actress. In fact Kim Soo Hyun and Seo Yea Ji avoiding each other in public regardless of whether they are actually in a relationship or not, could be a strategic move by their agency to secure both actors’ wellbeing.
Perhaps what needs to be discussed more among kdrama fans is the role that they can play in making internet spaces safer for both celebrities and netizens. Considering South Korea’s disproportionately high suicide rate, mental health issues, and the tragic deaths of kpop stars that have been witnessed in the recent years, it is important that this narrative of anti-fan culture changes. The lessons taught in Its Okay to Not Be Okay about the perils of being judgmental and closeminded needs to be one that is applied in the real world.

Love Alarm Season 2: In Defense of Hye Yeong (written by a Sun Oh stan)
Warning: This analysis contains spoilers. Read at your own risk!
I binge-watched two seasons of Love Alarm in two days and I have some thoughts on the Kim Jojo- Hye Yeong ship. I genuinely hate watching k-dramas that involve the audience having to do deal with not only the relationship between the female and male lead, but also the relationship between her and an equally if not more swoon-worthy second male lead. I had a brief encounter with Love Alarm Season 1 two years ago before I decided against finishing the season because I discovered that it ends on a cliffhanger. Like many fans of the show, from the first three episodes, I strongly believed that Sun-Oh and Jojo would end up together. They both had difficult childhoods and parents and with Jojo enabling the shield, their breakup seemed temporary and that they would get back together once Jojo figures out how to disable the shield and realizes the she was never happy without Sun Oh. Therefore, I found it surprising to find the creators of the show positing a Jojo-Hye Yeong pairing. By doing so, they not only broke Sun Oh's heart but also millions of fans worldwide. However, upon deeper reflection, I think I can understand why a Hye-Yeong-Jojo pairing was the most probable all along and is necessary for the premise of the show to succeed.
Love Alarm is more than a rom-com about a bunch of teenagers overcoming adversity through love. Love Alarm offers its audience a nuanced critique of our dependency on technology and how such dependency makes us less intuitive about our feelings and needs. The best way to explain this in our current society is by quite literally focusing on the invention of the alarm. Before the alarm was invented, humans slept and rose based on our circadian rhythms and we instinctively woke up every day to carry out our various responsibilities. However, with the invention of the alarm clock, many of us are not able to wake up on time for anything without it. Try to sleep one day without setting your alarm and you'll find yourself waking up four hours later ( been there done that!). Similarly, in the world of Love Alarm, we see individuals overly reliant on the app to the point that it has dominated every single discourse being had in 2023. For instance, in the first scene of Season 2 Episode 1, we see a marriage ceremony that only concludes after the bride and groom ring each other's alarms and with the release of Love Alarm 2.0, people aren't even giving a chance to individuals, who don't show up on the list. The notion of blind trust in our relationships is completely thrown with Love Alarm when there is an app that is constantly verifying whether a person has feelings for you. This is detrimental because the success of true passionate love rests on the fact that we come to care for someone so deeply that we ultimately trust them to feel the same way about us, so we let them into the most intimate aspects of our lives.
This statement mentioned above is precisely why Sun Oh and Jojo were never endgame. Sun Oh and Jojo's relationship was only initiated because they rang each other's alarms and while they shared moments of happiness, their relationship was not founded on trust because both Sun Oh and Jojo lacked the intuition to see their relationship as something that transcends an app. Throughout Season 2, we see Sun Oh consistently warped in the technicalities of the app with his obsessive questioning of Jojo over the shield. While we see him question Jojo about why she can't ring his alarm, he can't seem to comprehend this idea that you don't need the alarm to be in a successful relationship even though he seems to be doing that quite wonderfully with Yok Joo. Yok Joo because someone that truly makes Sun Oh happy and remains a constant source of support that he can rely on. Likewise, we see Sun Oh prioritizing and caring for Yok Joo, signs that he is growing to love someone, but cannot accept it because he excepts the Alarm to tell him that he is in love.
Love rarely is an instantaneous experience, but rather something that develops over time, and Love Alarm completely strips this experience. In his decision to woo Jojo without the alarm, Hye Yeong embraces this idea successfully. He remains undeterred about the fact that Jojo can't ring his alarm and continues to spend meaningful time with her because being around her simply makes him feel happy and a part of him trusts the fact that Jojo feels the same way. Hye Yeong trusts his intuition more than he trusts an app. In doing so, he makes Jojo realize that she has to listen to herself rather than an app. Throughout her storyline, a common thread is the supposed lack of control that Jojo feels from her parents' death to her being left with no choice but to rely on her unkind aunt and cousin for support. In Jojo being able to finally make a choice in her life in choosing to love Hye Yong, she is arguably able to express autonomy over her life for the first time and she is not bound by her status as an economically struggling orphan in doing so.
Additionally, another reason why Jojo and Sun-Oh's relationship failed is that while the two may truly be in love, they were not in love with each other at the right time. When Jojo and Sun Oh were both dating each other, they were arguably at the lowest points in their life. Sun Oh was dealing with extremely abusive and negligent parents, while Jojo was still traumatized by the death of her parents and the bullying that she faced at the hands of her cousin and classmates. Throughout their relationship, Jojo was terrified at the prospect of Sun-Oh finding out about her background and was embarrassed by her socioeconomic status, which was what prompted her to download the shield in the first place. Jojo's period of However, by the time Hye Yeong pursues a relationship with Jojo, she is in a much better place. Not only does she feel more comfortable with Hye-Yeong because they had already seen each other at their all-time lows, but she's become more assertive, confident, and found some fame in her work as the artist of The Ringing World. She also has a best friend that understands and respects her boundaries. Loving someone but having to let them go because it simply wasn't the right time and place is all too common of an occurrence and the creators of the show challenge us to question the idea that we are only destined for one person our entire life. We can love many people throughout our life, but the ones who we grow to love when we love ourselves is where the key to long term commitment lies.
I know that many fans of the show are upset and I also have many issues with the writing and development of Sun Oh's character. Regardless, I also feel that Love Alarm challenges many of the expectations that arise from cliché k-drama tropes. There are so many things that I would change about the show, but I have grown to accept the fact that Sun Oh deserves better. But, I'm not sure if Jojo would have been the source of his happiness and I only wish that his ending didn't feel so incomplete and heartbreaking.

K-Dramas Are Singlehandedly Saving Romance- Here’s Why
l consider myself an expert on romance (despite never being in a relationship or falling in love with someone) . Since the tender age of five, I have been forced to watch romance movies and rom-coms with my mother because she kept hogging the t.v. and wouldn’t let me watch Spongebob Squarepants. If there’s ever been a movie made with either Hugh Grant or Julia Roberts or both of them in it ( Notting Hill I’m looking at you), chances are I’ve probably watched it. I was sitting right alongside my mother as she cried through The Notebook and A Walk to Remember. As an Indian, romance is practically in my DNA. I’ve watched Jab We Met way too many times and Alaipayuthey ( Saathiya in Hindi for those who don’t know) will always have a special place in my heart. I’m not lying though when I say that romance is practically dying in both mainstream Indian cinema and Hollywood.
Faced with no place for me to third wheel a fictional relationship ( I’m hopelessly but also happily single), I have resorted to spending most of 2020 watching k-dramas.I was first introduces to k-dramas five years ago, when I decided to see what was so great about the dramas that my friend was watching. I experimented with watching a couple k-dramas like Doctors and W-Two Worlds, but the one that got me truly hooked was Legend of the Blue Sea. After LOTBS, I took a break from watching them and recently got back into watching them full time. In the past six months, I’ve watched Its Okay To Not Be Okay, Crash Landing on You, Do You Like Brahms, My Love From The Star, What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim, Something in The Rain, When The Weather is Fine, Extraordinary You, Tune in For Love ( movie),  and I’m currently watching Run On, Lovestruck in The City, and True Beauty. In all of these dramas, the true beauty and joy of watching romance has been retained and in many instances, elevated. In this post, I’ll be going over why k-dramas are more successful than their counterparts in depicting romance.
Tumblr media
16 Episode Format v.s. Multiple Seasons : Fo those who have watched many k-dramas, you probably have noticed that k-dramas operate more like mini series with 16 episodes rather than the multi-season t.v. shows that we have in the United States. The problem with multi-season shows are that the primary goal of these shows are to last more than one season and extend the show as long as possible. The most extreme example of this in the United States is the medical drama, Grey’s Anatomy, which is currently on its 17th season and has been on air since 2005. This format can often result in convoluted relationship arcs between different characters. For example, in Grey’s Anatomy, Meredith Grey, the titular character, is in a long term on and off relationship with Derek Shepherd that finally results in their marriage. However, this is short-lived because of Derek’s death and Meredith has a string of boyfriends in subsequent seasons. Even in shows like New Girl, which fall under the rom-com genre can be exhausting to watch because we know that Jess and Nick are going to get together but it takes us many seasons before we reach that destination. On the other hand, while k-dramas also tease fans with the question of will they or will they not, the intrigue is much appropriately paced and resolved.
Chemistry v.s. PDA : Let’s take the example of Grey’s Anatomy again and compare it with Do You Like Brahms. The first time Meredith and Derek encounter each other is when Meredith meets Derek at a bar and things escalate into a one night stand. On the other hand, in Do You Like Brahms, Song Ah and Joon Young meet each other at a concert, where Song Ah is kicked out from the orchestra that Joon Young is playing the piano accompaniment for. Even though Joon Young and Song Ah aren’t making out, chemistry is immediately established in this scene, when Joon Young drops his sheet music to stop the orchestra conductor from yelling at Song Ah. The chemistry in this scene is just as effective as the Grey’s Anatomy scene. However, a sense of connection between these two individuals is immediately created without any physical intimacy. In kdramas, we see love that comes from feelings of warmth and belonging that we share with an individual rather than superficial desires of lust that are often displayed in American television. Perhaps this is why so many k-drama fans say that they ship kdrama couples harder than Hollywood ones even if it takes ten episodes for the k-couple to share their first kiss. In short, its all about the fluff not the smut y’all! An example of an American tv show that truly highlights this philosophy is the relationship between Jim and Pam in The Office. Jim and Pam have a fairly tame relationship on the show, but the chemistry between the leads has been lauded by the fans because they complement each other through their banter and moments of slightly saccharine lightheartedness.
Tumblr media
Working Around The Pitfalls of Romance: One of the biggest things that romantic comedies get critiqued for is being repetitive and unoriginal. Many of the Indian romantic comedies fell into this pit hole quite literally when they made modernized versions of classics ( Love Aaj Kal 2, Student of the Year 2, Coolie No.1, etc.), or Indian serials that constantly overuse the forced arranged marriage trope between the two leads. Many American tv shows and movies actually manage to successfully avoid this trap by creating eccentric larger than life characters. For instance, in New Girl, Jess is extremely chirpy, bubbly, and naive optimist, while Nick is the pessimist with a penchant for dark humor. In The Office, Kelly Kapoor is this crazy vain and obsessive girlfriend, while Ryan Howard is this extremely narcissistic dude that’s trying too hard to be hip. K-dramas resort to such characterizations as well to set apart their characters as well. In Its Okay To Not Be Okay, Ko Moon Young is a woman, with a painful history of trauma that makes her prone to impulsivity and harshness, while Cheon Song Yi in My Love From The Star is a sassy ditzy and self-absorbed actress that has been deeply misunderstood by the public.
However, another way that k-dramas set themselves apart in the romantic comedy genre is through the way they construct the environments and themes that revolve around the characters. K-drama characters have some of the most interesting professions and this greatly adds to the uniqueness of each drama. For example, in Its Okay to Not Be Okay, we see childhood fairy tales been interwoven with the plot and are given a unique perspective on psychiatric care. In Do You Like Brahms, Western classical music greatly adds another dimension to Song Ah and Joon Young’s relationship as they grapple with Schuman and Beethoven. Finally, what perhaps are the most interesting career choices are Oh Mi Joo’s  job as an English translator for movies, which interweaves itself quite nicely with the larger themes that are conveyed within Run On. American dramas fail to exploit this opportunity in their dramas and we are often handed characters with some of the most basic careers. However, seeing the wide diversity of careers and environments that characters exist in a k-drama make them more enjoyable for me to watch! So, if you haven’t gotten into kdramas, y’all are missing out big time.

Why Ko Moon Young Didn’t Become the Pretty Witch of the West : It’s Okay To Not Be Okay and Cancel Culture
After I finished watching Its Okay to Not Be Okay, I grappled with many questions, one of which, is why did I end up wanting to root for Ko Moon Young’s happiness at the end. While for many, it might appear straightforward as to why Ko Moon Young is the protagonist, if you dove right into the first episode of the show and you didn’t look at any of the promotional material, you could have easily believed that she was the antagonist. In fact, Ko Moon Young could have become one of the most detestable characters of 2020 rather than one of the most endearing ones. Within the first episode, we see Ko Moon Young make a little girl cry, refuse to care for her ill father, and manage to stab Gang Tae’s hand. By episode three, we see Moon Young chase after Gang Tae in Seojin City even though Gang Tae makes it explicitly clear that he doesn’t want to see her again and despite such warnings, she continues to make unwanted advances towards him.
While many fans would be quick to point out that she is “badass”, everything she does in the previous paragraph is definitely not badass because they are unhealthy and intrusive. Other fans of the show may attempt to justify her behavior by claiming that she has antisocial personality disorder and her history of trauma, but I don’t think that Moon Young is a character, whose behavior need to be justified. Moon Young is a flawed character and was never intended to be a role model of what ideal and healthy behavior should look like. However, Moon Young challenges us to reevaluate the idea that people are one-dimensional and stagnant. While this may seem like common sense, as we now live in a world of “cancel culture” and first impressions, it is a necessary reminder. Through Moon Young’s character, the audience can reach two conclusions. Firstly, all of us can have flaws that co-exist with our redeeming qualities. Secondly, it is important to understand what is the source (e.g. trauma, upbringing, etc)of our flaws and choose to embark on a journey to resolve what is holding us back from achieving warmth in our lives. In this post, I will be analyzing Moon Young’s redeeming qualities and how she grows as a person throughout the course of the plot.
For a woman that struggles to treat others with respect, Moon Young in many ways possesses almost a clairvoyant-like property into addressing universal human emotional needs. We see this immediately through her art, the children books that she writes. One of the reasons that Moon Young becomes such a popular children’s book author is because her work is able to comfort and soothe each person’s deepest vulnerabilities and fears regardless of their age. Before Moon Young even embarks on her own healing journey, she becomes a guiding light for others and this is perhaps her most admirable quality.
We see this quality in many of her unconventional tactics that provide the necessary catharsis for many of the OK Psychiatric patients to acknowledge and move on from their trauma. In Episode 3, when Ko Moon Young, effectively aids in the escape of a VIP patient and takes him to his  politician father’s rally, he is finally able to vent his own frustrations of being considered inadequate and unworthy by his father and in doing so, finds much-needed contentment. Additionally, she is the first person to truly offer friendship to Sang Tae and provides him with the opportunity to become an illustrator for her books, and she does this because she truly values his talent and follows through with the promise. She doesn’t use Sang Tae simply as a cover to bring Gang Tae closer even though one may assume that at first glance. For Moon Young, Sang Tae really is her friend and “older brother”. For Gang Tae, Moon Young helps him prioritize his own self care and realize his own self worth beyond his relationship with his older brother. These examples suggest that Moon Young’s greatest strength is her ability to truly see individuals beyond their predicament in a world that reduces people to their mental illnesses. Unlike many who simply pity, Moon Young empowers these characters by supporting them in their journey to take back control of their own stories. Maybe this is because Moon Young, herself suffered years of abuse and trauma by her parents, and thus she is able to empathize with these characters in a way unparalleled to those who we may define as conventionally nice like Gang Tae or Ju Ri.
For Ko Moon Young, her trauma stems from the abuse that she faced at the hands of both of her parents. Ko Moon Young’s mother, a murderer, who probably has some sort of personality disorder, controls Ko Moon Young because she is her “greatest creation”. It can be argued that her mother’s controlling behavior is what may have reinforced any antisocial like personality traits that Moon Young exhibits. On the other hand, her father, who despises  what his wife represents, tried to kill Ko Moon Young as a child, so that she wouldn’t end up becoming a monster like her mother. The lasting scar from both of her parents is what effectively makes Moon Young build a wall over herself and causes her to come off as cruel and difficult to others.
However, after having to re confront her trauma when her father tries to choke her again during a routine visit to the hospital ( and with the entrance of Gang Tae and Sang Tae in her life), Moon Young demonstrates an unwavering determination to not become what others expect her to be. She proves time and time again that she is more than an empty can. She breaks the chain that her mother had over her life by symbolically cutting her hair in Episode 7 and also tells her father off when he tells her that she will turn out to be like her mother. She makes amends with Juri despite their distasteful past and upon realizing that the brothers are left alone in the castle with her mother, she risks going back to the castle and confronting her biggest fear to save them. Perhaps, the greatest indicator of Ko Moon Young’s growth is her admission to her mother that she feels sorry for her because she hasn’t found the warmth that Moon Young found. In Its Okay To Not Be Okay, Moon Young’s character arc is much like ice that melts. She may be stubbornly stiff and cold but through the warmth and support from those who care about her, she ultimately melts into the very water that nourishes the magnolias of her garden.

The entire series of Tharntype would make so much more sense if you just took out every single time Tharn attacked Type (which happened 3 times I think (when type got drunk and fell asleep and Tharn left hickeys on him, the bubble tea scene, the shower scene). 4 if you count their first kiss.)
You could still say it doesn't make sense because Tharn is basically the perfect male lead/prince charming type character when you take out the assaults. So why in the world would he fall for type - an angry, biased, homophobic brat?
I think it still works and is plausible because Type really does have some good things going for him. He just covers it up with a lot of protective walls and anger issues.
He has a really high level of emotional intelligence, and he has a really good heart despite his skewed mindset and bias born out of trauma. I think he's very tsundere as well, and a lot of people think that's cute (me included). He cares a lot about his friends.
And I think Tharn likes being the one to both rile Type up and be able to calm him down and bring out his soft side. I think pretty early on Tharn realizes how broken Type is and wants to help him and take care of him. And everything really starts there.
Honestly this whole show would make so much more sense and overall less problematic if tharn never assaulted type. IT MAKES NO SENSE. (If the purpose of it was just so Type would realize that being with a man can feel good opposed to traumatizing, there are many other better ways of going about that 😑)

The work day has ended. It's been a long and boring day. One of your coworkers was being really rude and exhausting, and now all you want is to sleep. But you know that in a few hours, you'll be hungry for dinner, and there are no supplies at home for a full dinner. So you have to go grocery shopping.
On the way home from work, you stop by the grocery store to buy ingredients. You walk down the vegetable aisle, eyes skimming for something you might need.
"Y/Nie?" You look to your right and see Seoho standing a few feet away, smiling brightly.
"Oh, Seoho! Hello." You wave. "What are you doing here?"
"Shopping? It's a grocery store," he says, laughing.
"Right. Sorry, stupid question." You nod, embarrassed, but he laughs, patting your head gently to tease you.
"Cute," he says. "Don't worry about it. I'm here to go shopping for ONEUS's dinner. We've basically finished everything for the album, and as a reward, we're having a nice big dinner as a group. Comeback is coming up, so we're celebrating that as well."
"Congrats. I'm excited for you," you say. "Are you guys prepared for the comeback?"
"I think so. I think we're ready, but we're still anxious about how it will be received."
You two walk down the veggie aisle together, both grabbing what you need.
"You guys are gonna do great," you say as you examine an onion closely. "I've already listened to 'To Be Or Not To Be' and some of 'Dizzy', and they're amazing. No doubt the others are, too. I know you'll impress everyone."
Seoho smiles. "Thank you, Y/Nie. I think all of the members need that kind of encouragement, especially Youngjo. But I'm glad I get to hear it."
You buy your groceries, and Seoho purchases his. You exit the store together, and as you're about to wave goodbye to him, he insists on walking you home.
"Y/N . . ." he says, as you reach your house. You hum to let him know you're listening.
"How long have we known each other?" Seoho asks. You think. It must have been when Seoho and Youngjo were on Mix Nine when you first met him. You do the math in your head.
"Three or four years," you say.
"Yeah," he says, nodding. "That's a long time, I think. And I think we've been pretty good friends. I know that you're really close to Youngjo, but I really want to express my feelings to you."
He stops and looks at you, and you turn to look at him, eyebrow raised curiously. You have a sneaking suspicion about what he wants to say.
"Y/N, I see you as more than a friend," he says, taking a deep breath. "I like you a lot, both as a close friend and as more."
He watches your expression closely, waiting for a sign of your answer in your face, or a reaction. Anything. Meanwhile, you're trying to think of a way to answer without hurting him.
A moment passes, and you take a deep breath.
"Seoho," you say. You take a breath. "I care about you a lot. You're one of my best friends. You've always been there for me. But I already like someone."
"It's Youngjo, isn't it?" Seoho asks, a soft, yet sad, expression on his face. You nod. "I thought so. I just wanted you to know my feelings. That's good, Y/Nie. He likes you too. I'm happy for Youngjo, and if you need anything at all, I'll help you."
You smile. "Thank you, Seoho. I'm sorry."
He shakes his head. "Don't be sorry, Y/Nie. You being my friend is still enough to make me happy."
"Okay . . ." You smile at him. "Can I hug you?"
He nods. "Yes please."
You hug him tightly, and he squeezes you. After you pull away, he smiles at you softly. Sadly. But not too sad.
"Thank you." he says, grinning. "Youngjo is lucky. That someone so kind and caring as you is his friend. And likes him like that."
You blink at him, unsure of what to say. He nods over to your apartment. "Now go make yourself dinner. You must be hungry."
You nod, realizing that you are, indeed, hungry. "I am. Bye Seoho!" you say, waving goodbye. He waves back, smiling, as you head inside.
Tumblr media
You're cleaning up from dinner, putting away your dried dishes when you hear your phone buzz from where it's sitting across the table. You put away your plate and walk over to see what it is.
Sunny's Dad: Y/Nie
You: Yes?
Sunny's Dad: Can I come over?
You: Sure!
You: Why?
Sunny's Dad: Need hugs
You: Okay, of course! Come over!
You spend ten minutes finishing cleaning up the table and dishes. Youngjo still hasn't shown up, so you make warm tea for him. You know that it helps him calm down and relax after a stressful day.
You have the mug of warm tea sitting on the table when there's a knock on the door. You walk over and open the door. Youngjo stands in front of you. You can tell from the sheepish smile that he gives you, from his shy posture and slumped shoulders, that he isn't feeling great. He looks exhausting, but you can't tell if it's emotionally exhausted or physically exhausted.
"Youngjo," you say gently. "Come in. I made you some warm tea to calm your nerves."
"Thank you."
You tell him to sit on the couch and bring him his drink, sitting down next to him. He thanks you and sips from the mug, relaxing a bit.
"Thank you," he says. "For having me over. And for making me tea."
"No problem," you say. "Is everything okay, Youngjo?"
"Yeah," he says, sighing heavily. You shake your head.
"No, it's not. Something's on your mind. I can tell."
He frowns. "How do you know?"
"Because I know you, Youngjo," you say. "I've known you my entire life. Plus, you just look like something is bothering you. What is it?"
He sighs again. "Our comeback is coming up in a few days. And even though I'm excited and we're all well prepared, I'm feeling very nervous and anxious."
"Yeah?"
"They're expecting so much from us," he mumbles. "After Road to Kingdom, the bar is so high. And I don't want to disappoint anyone. And I just wanted to hang out with you and watch a movie or snuggle or something," he says. "If that's okay. Hanging out with you always calms me nerves, I guess."
"Yeah, of course," you say. "What movie do you want to watch?"
"Anything."
You two end up watching Zootopia together, sitting on the couch together. You two laugh together during the sloth scene, snuggled up as you giggle together.
The scene reminds you of your shared movie nights and sleepovers when you were kids. Especially as teenagers, you two would even spend until early morning watching movies together. Obviously, since you're both much older and are busy with work--Youngjo is a K-Pop idol--you haven't had movie nights as much anymore. The nights before ONEUS's debut with Valkyrie and the album release of Light Us, you and Youngjo watched several movies to calm his nervousness and excitement. The day before Raise Us was released, you and Youngjo watched a couple movies today. Since then, you and Youngjo didn't watch as many movies. During Road To Kingdom, you and ONEUS had several movie nights. But every time you and Youngjo watch movies together, you go back to being a child, watching movies with your best friend.
You smile. You're leaning against each other, comfortably snuggled up to each other as you giggle at the funny parts of the children's movie. After a while, Youngjo falls asleep. He's shifted to that his head is on your lap. You smile down at him. He's breathing softly, and looks so cute. You want nothing more than to run your fingers through his hair.
After the movie has finished, you look down at Youngjo, who's still asleep with his head on your lap. Honestly, he looks so calm, asleep like that, and you almost don't want to wake him up. But he has to go to work early tomorrow, so he should get back to the dorm soon to sleep properly. You nudge him gently, trying to wake him. He groans softly. He looks so cute. But you shake him gently again.
After a moment of your gentle shaking, he groans and binks up at you, a smile spreading across his face at the sight of you, and a little joyful feeling bubbles inside of you when you think about how just seeing you makes him smile like that.
"Movie's finished," you say softly, smiling. "You have an early morning tomorrow, so you should be heading home soon."
He nods, sitting up. His hair is messy, but he runs his hand through it to fix it. "Right," he says, chuckling.
You help him get his stuff together. His shoes and coat. You smile at him as he waves goodbye, stepping out the door.
"Youngjo," you say before he leaves. He pauses and looks at you, standing on the other side of the doorway. "It's going to be great. You guys will do amazingly. I promise."
"Thank you, Y/Nie. See you soon." He smiles brightly at you.
Without thinking, you stand up on your tip-toes and kiss Youngjo on the cheek. Youngjo blinks, standing frozen, staring at you, and it takes you a moment to realize what you just did.
"What . . . ?"
Embarrassed, you wave a quick and shy goodbye and close the door quickly, turning around so your back is against it as you think over the past ten seconds.
After a few seconds, you hear Youngjo's footsteps walking away. You run to the window, and after a few seconds, you see Youngjo walking away slowly. He has his phone on in his hand. Suddenly, your phone on the couch buzzes, and you run over to see what it is.
Sunny's Dad: Thank you for always helping me and comforting me.
Sunny's Dad: It means a lot.
You smile stupidly at your phone. How strange that someone texting you can make you feel so happy. As you're about to put your phone in your pocket, it rings again. You look to see what it is.
Sunny's Dad: 😚🤭💋
You feel your face heating up, and realize how you're smiling so widely it makes your cheeks hurt. Instead of feeling embarrassment, you feel giddy inside.
You prepare for bed, brushing your teeth and changing before getting into bed, all the while smiling like an idiot while thinking about Youngjo. Thinking about him sleeping with his head on your lap. Thinking about kissing him on the cheek.
Tumblr media
Youngjo arrives at the dorm, opening the door quietly and closing it slowly. Everyone should be asleep by now, as tomorrow's morning starts early. He starts removing his shoes and coat in the entrance living room, trying to keep quiet so as not to wake anyone up.
He smiles to himself as he puts away his coat, thinking about how you had kissed him on the cheek. He gently touches his cheek where you had kissed him, and giggles softly to himself. Oh, he really is a fool in love with his best friend.
You've always been his best friend. You were always there for him when he needed you, when he was stressed or sad or worried or upset. You would always hold his hand when he was scared and be a shoulder for him to cry on. You were always supportive of his dreams, even when he doubted himself.
He's liked you since you were teens together, but he was always too afraid to ruin your friendship. He loves you a lot. Both as a best friend, and more than that. But as much as he likes you as more than a friend, but also loves you as a friend too, and he doesn't want to ruin that.
It's strange, he thinks as he puts his shoes away. Even Geonhak has commented on it. He's usually more confident about things. He's usually less afraid to take risks. But he's too scared to ask you to be more than friends. He's too afraid to risk your friendship. Because if you don't feel the same way, what would that mean for your friendship.
"Youngjo?"
He looks up. Seoho is standing in the doorway, blinking at him.

Yandere Virgil Fanfic Chapter 1.
Summary: Virgil Storm was the cliche, quiet kid. The one that sat in the back of the class, never raised his hand, and whenever he spoke the whole class stared at him wide-eyed like it was some wonder of the world. So when a few kids from school end up dead, no expects him to be the culprit. {School AU}
Warnings: obsessive love, math class, plotting of murder, mentions of lunch, murder, blood and dead body mentioned briefly, regretless murder, nothing else I believe.
Ship: Onesided Moxiety?, Royality
Virgil was in math class, but instead of staring at the whiteboard where his teacher was explaining some new formula, he was staring at Patton. Patton Heart was student body president, and in Virgil's eyes, he was the most amazing perfect person in the world. Just everything about Patton was perfect, his laugh, his smile, the funny puns he made, it was all so cute, and as much as Virgil didn't want to say it, he was in love.
But that's when Virgil noticed something, something that made him want to scream to the very top of his lungs. Patton and the boy next to him were passing notes back and forth. And was Patton BLUSHING AND GIGGLING!?! Virgil didn't know why but this small thing shook him to his core or why it sent questions spiraling through his head, what if Patton doesn't like him? What if Patton didn't even know him? What if… What if… A very stern voice cut him out of his thoughts. "Mr.Heart, Mr.Prince  would like to explain what you’re doing?" The teacher asked, glaring at the direction of Patton and the boy he was passing notes with. "Oh sorry sir, Roman was answering a question of mine," Patton answered back. So the boy that was potentially flirting with Patton is named Roman? Virgil thought to himself. This will need to be investigated.
Over the next week or so Virgil went full stalker mode, figuring out as much info as he could about this 'Roman' kid. He had learned a few crucial things, one Roman was lead in the upcoming play, two Roman had rehearsal every Wednesday and Thursday after school, three Roman was openly gay, four Patton and Roman are childhood friends who have known each other most of their lives, and most importantly five Roman must definitely has a crush on Patton. And that last one just wouldn't do in Virgil's books.
Virgil didn't know what it was, but Patton made him so happy. Virgil's life always felt so sad, cold and empty, but Patton was like a light. He made Virgil smile and blush and laugh, and it felt amazing. Virgil wanted that happy feeling always he loved that feeling just as much as he loved Patton. So the idea that someone wanted to take that from him, it shook him to his core, and Virgil was willing to admit he was gonna do anything to keep Patton to himself.
Virgil had come up with a plan if he wanted to find a way to remove Roman from the equation. It was a simple one, but from what he gathered, it should work out perfectly. So during one math class (sadly the only class he had with Roman), he walked up to Roman to ask for some help on the sheet they were given. Virgil didn’t actually need the help, but this was step one of his plan, and from what he learned from their study session turned chat, step two was falling perfectly into place.
A small bell broke the semi-silence of the math class. Virgil was gathering his stuff when someone tapped him on the shoulder. Turning around, Virgil met the eyes of none other than Roman Prince. “So I was wondering since you always eat alone at lunch if you would prefer to go eat with me, Patton and Logan?” Roman asked, his tone bubbly. “Ya, that sounds...really nice,” Virgil said, the smallest smile dressing his face. Roman lite up, “perfect we’ll see you then!” And as Roman walked away, Virgil smirked to himself step two complete.
The lunch was nice (mostly cause Virgil got to sit and talk to Patton), but Virgil could barely stand the parts where Roman decided to flirt with Patton (it took a lot of power for Virgil to not just go up and choke Roman out). This mission though was not just so he (or Roman) could make heart eyes at Patton, no Virgil came to get some intel on an upcoming event. “Hey Roman,” Virgil asked, Roman, piped up. “I was wondering when your first dress rehearsal was?” a large grin washed over Roman’s face. “Oh well it’s this Wednesday, and you guys can come  watch if you want, I’d just have to get you guys a pass.” “Sorry Ro, but me and Lo have a meeting after school that day,” Patton responded, adding an apologetic look. “Plus you know you have to tell Lo ten days in advance if you want him to go to anything,” he added. Roman groaned “come on I told you two days in advance this time.” Logan glared at him “and I'm part of the debate team, math counts, student body, tech club, and book club your point?” Agin, Roman groaned “How many things can one nerd do?” “I can go,” Virgil said, making sure to not interrupt their conversation. Roman practically shoot out of his seat, “really? That’s it, Virgil you are now officially my favorite!” Roman declared, before grabbing the notebook Logan had next to his lunch and tearing a piece from it. “Really Roman? That notebook contains all my notes, wouldn’t it be a better idea to get paper from a different source?” Logan said with a slight scowl. “Oh be quiet, nerd I'm just writing up a pass real quick,” Roman said, ignoring the small growl from Logan. “Patton, love, do you happen to have a pencil with you?” Roman asked leaning slightly towards Patton who was sitting next to him. Virgil could barely contain his hiss, it was comments like that, that made Virgil not even think twice about his malicious idea to get rid of Roman.
After receiving his pass all Virgil had to do was wait for Wednesday to come. But the days felt like they went on forever, and everything that Roman said to Patton somehow was flirty, and the worst part is that most of the time Patton would blush or flirt back. It was driving Virgil insane. But eventually, Wednesday did arrive, and the final bell of the day rang. As quickly as he could Virgil packed all his stuff into his bag and practically ran out the door. From there he power-walked down the halls till he made it to the auditorium.  After quickly showing the guy at the front door his pass, Virgil made his way into the auditorium and into the front row of seats. Virgil sighed in relief when he realized the play hadn’t started yet, because, for step 3 of his plan, he needed to know when a certain event took place, so he decided he would time the entire thing with a stopwatch.
When the play actually started Virgil was rather bored. The entire thing was a cliche love story with semi annoying songs and a plot that consisted of a prince and a peasant girl who fell in love, then ran away together. Not Virgil’s type of play. But Virgil wasn’t here to watch some mediocre musical, he was here to wait for one moment so that he could end the play known as Roman’s life.
Virgil was halfway through the play, trying not to doze off when a song broke him out of his sleepy state. The real thing that surprised him though was that it was only Roman on stage. It was almost too perfect. He waited for the exact moment Roman stood center stage, and to his delight right at the end of the song it came. Right for his last note of the song, Roman stood center stage and held the note till the song came to an end, that was Virgil’s moment to strike. Virgil glanced down at his stopwatch, which he had just clicked off. In bright green letters, it read 37:21:06.876. This number was the only reason Virgil came to the rehearsal, though the next one he attends will have a very different purpose.
It was next Wednesday, Virgil knew he could have struck on Thursday but he decided to lay low for a bit. This rehearsal was gonna be hard to get into (mostly because kids weren't allowed to visit past the first dress rehearsal), so Virgil had come prepared, he was dressed in all black, he also had his stopwatch to time the beginning so he knew when his cue was, a pair of sharp scissors, and of course, he had his plan which had been perfected to the tea.
It was 2 minutes to the final bell when Virgil asked to be excused to the bathroom. His teacher allowed him and told him to take his stuff so that he could be dismissed from there. Virgil gathered his stuff and made his way to the bathrooms a few doors down from the auditorium. From here it was time for his plan to commence. First, Virgil had to wait. He knew almost everyone went on stage about ten minutes into the show, making it prime time to sneak through the backdoors. So Virgil waited, stopwatch in hand, for this scene. Once the stopwatch flashed ten, he abandoned all his stuff (except his scissors and stopwatch) in the stall and made his way over to the back backdoors of the auditorium. From here he simply opened one of the doors (they had to be opened for safety reasons) and slipped in as quietly as possible. Yes, most of the people were on stage, but not all of them. A few actors were still backstage along with most of the stagehands. Virgil took a shaky breath, he couldn’t be caught. Specifically, he couldn’t be caught by Roman, who unfortunately was one of the few actors not on stage. A few nervous thoughts pulsed through his head, what do I say if  I am caught? Oh, it’s just a stagehand being all shifty near the most shadowy part of backstage with just a pair of scissors and a stopwatch in his pocket, not a big deal. Virgil shook his head as quietly as possible, this scene didn’t last forever and it would be fifty times as difficult once everyone was waiting backstage again, so Virgil had to make his move now. As silent as humanly possible, Virgil made his way along the back wall, ducking behind props and moving around set-pieces till he was all the way to the wall next to the left side of the stage.  Virgil took a moment to listen to the song being sung on stage, they were on some of the last lines, meaning Virgil had no chance of being able to take a break even if the next part of the scariest and most noisy. Gulping back his fear, he moved from the wall to the actual side of the stage and grabbed hold of the stage support that made up the corner of the stage. “Am I actually doing this?” he asked himself for a second, this was the last point where he could turn back. He reminded himself why he was here, for Patton he told himself. “For Patton,” he said to himself, in a voice so quiet it was barely a whisper.
Tightening his grip on the stage support beam, he pulled himself up and started climbing towards the rafters. This was definitely the most terrifying experience in his whole life. He was climbing a rickety, most likely rusting, support beam for the stage and from there he was climbing onto the rafters. And if he got caught, oh god, Virgil didn’t want to think about what would happen if he got caught, nor what would happen if he fell.
Virgil finally pulled himself onto the rafters, just as Roman’s first scene started. Virgil gave himself a second to breathe before carefully pulling his stopwatch out of his pocket. 14:35:12.309. Great, he thought to himself, I'm going to have to sit in the rafters right above the stage light, for 23 minutes. Virgil let out a shaky sigh. The only thing keeping him going right now was the thought of Patton, and Roman no longer flirting or making Patton blush. And before he could stop himself, he was in a daydream.
Virgil was pulled from his daydream by the sound of a background track starting to play, and Roman’s voice joining. It is the only time Virgil would ever be thankful for Roman’s obnoxiously loud voice. Virgil stared down at the stage below him, watching as Roman paced from one side to the other, singing a song about not knowing if the girl loved him back. It was so cliche and cheesy, Virgil could almost taste it. Virgil's glance than passed back to his stopwatch, it’s bright green numbers reading 35:33;51.098. Carefully pulling the scissors from his back pocket, he stared at the wires of the large stage light hanging from the rafters. This was his plan, to simply cut the wires of the main spotlight and let it fall right onto Roman. It was clever and by god was it evil. Virgil smirked than began slowly running one of the blades scissors against the wires (This was to make the wires looked frayed and that someone didn’t just cut them).
With the wires weakened enough to where he could cut them apart with a single snip, Virgil watched as Roman carried out the rest of the song. Roman stood center stage holding his last note, as Virgil carefully cut the last of the wires, sending the stage light crashing onto Roman. There was barely enough time for anyone to scream a warning, and no time at all for Roman to realize what was happening. The stage light hit exactly where Virgil wanted it to, right on top of Roman’s head, this, of course, meant there was no change for Roman to be alive. The whole auditorium had dissolved into chaos. Some people were screaming, some crying, some desperately trying to move the stage light off Roman’s corpse with no success. Virgil couldn’t get a view Roman corpse, but from the little of what he saw, there was lots of broken glass and blood. Virgil waited for a moment making sure everyone was on stage looking at the dead actor before he made his escape.
Climbing down the support beam it dawned on Virgil what he felt. Well, more of a lack of what he felt. There was no feeling of regret or even a small amount of grief for the loss (well murder) of Roman. Yes, he wasn’t close to Roman, as every step towards friendship was a secret ploy that led to Roman’s death. But, there was no feeling of what he had just done was wrong, just a small feeling of relief. It almost comforted Virgil, knowing that Roman had no way to intervene with his future with Patton. Virgil thought that he might have even felt a bit happy. The idea of him and Patton together, and Roman having no way to stop it brought a bit of hope to his mind.
And Virgil swore he might have even smiled.

So remember when I said that I drew the Star Rod and Ideya in different forms in one of my more popular posts? Well, I’ve decided to share them with you. It’s not all of the pages yet so this is just a few of them. I’ll start with the ideya ones first:
Tumblr media
This is the first page that I made when I thought about taking the ideya and morphing them into various forms. This first one is drawn solely around food because I was in my whole quirk of the thought of devouring dreams and the ideya, being dream objects consisting of dream energy that have the ability to structure an entire dreamscape attracted my quirk. Also, don’t mind the character on this page. She’s Lunaria of the moon and an eater of dreams. She’s no OC based around a certain franchise. She’s just an original character/mascot/persona of mine. Anyways, here’s the list:
* Dream Bowl. A dog bowl filled with ideya and the Star Rod. I thought of Snoopy and his suppertime when it came to making this one.
* Bubble Ideya Tea. Based off of bubble tea and the miniature balls prominent in it.
* Ideya + Takoyaki = Ideyaki. Based off of takoyaki. Was the first drawing I made on the page and a cute pun I thought of. I never tried takoyaki, but I hear that it’s really good and I’d be willing to try it someday when the chance comes. I had also forgotten that they were only five ideya while drawing the concept so I made the sixth one a blue chip that’s also from the NiGHTS games. Lunaria is seen blissfully gulping them down like Kirby in a sense.
* Tsukimi Ideya is based off of the tsukimi dango. Dango that is made to celebrate the beauty of the moon and in Tsukimi or Otsukimi festivals that honor the autumn moon. The dango are also made as offerings to moon alongside other seasonal foods along with sake in order to pray for an abundant harvest.
* Shaved Ideya Ice. I just took an ideya and turned it into a scoop of shaved ice.
* Ideya crepe. The ideya is supposed to be the ice cream scoop in the dessert-based crepe. This was inspired off of the scene of Kanna from Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid eating a crepe and stating that “It’s sweet, like Yatagarasu eggs.”
* Speaking of which, the Ideya Ice Cream was also inspired off of a scene of Kanna trying an ice cream cone and stating that “It’s cold. But good.” Perfectly scooped ice cream really fit the normal spherical form of the ideya.
Tumblr media
* The Ideya Dango or simply just the Ideyaki on a stick. “Ideyango” is also a pun off of both “ideya” and “dango”. They make a pretty long stack but it’s like heaven to Lunaria.
* Lastly on the page, the caramel ideya is based on a caramel apple on a stick and the ideya pop is based on a cake pop.
And that’s just page one!
Page 2:
Tumblr media
We now go from food to a few abilities. I was thinking of Touhou and danmaku (bullet hell) when it came to making this page.
* One of the blantant Touhou references in the picture is the ideya being used in the style of how the planet ornaments are used for Hecatia LapisLazuli, the Goddess of Hell. She has three bodies and the planet ornaments that are chained to her choker and surround the body she’s using represents her three bodies. They consist of Earth (blue hair), Moon (yellow hair), and Hell or otherworldly (red hair) which is also the body she most prominently uses, respectively. The three planet ornaments have now been replaced with three ideya so now she her three bodies represent whatever three ideya she has chained to her. Hecatia is my favorite Touhou character next to Yukari so I thought it’d be cool to reference her here.
* Pentagram. I took the ideya and formed a pentagram with it. Perhaps it can be used for some spells like summoning spells that summon things from the dream realm or well, the Night Dimension.
* I also thought that the pentagram formation could be used for some attacks like firing lasers. I got inspired by Marisa’s use of multi-colored orbs that she uses in one of her spell cards.
* Celestial Ideya Bodies is the ability of making the ideya act like celestial bodies and moving them around in combat leaving a trail of star bullets behind. This is inspired off of one of Clownpiece and Hecatia’s spellcards where they generate one or two moons that leave a trail of star bullets from behind.
* The Ideya Gap is another blantant Touhou reference being based off of Yukari’s gap. Two ideya are morphed into the red ribbons that are tied to both sides of the gap just like Yukari’s gap. And within Yukari’s gap lies multiple eyes that are said to represent the swirling desires of those outside of Gensokyo. The outsiders being from what is known by the inhabitants of Gensokyo as “The Outside World”. The eyes are also apparent in the Ideya Gap and can represent the swirling desires of visitors. The outsiders to the Night Dimension.
* The large combined laser is when you take the five ideya, combine them, and have them generate one big powerful laser. It’s more akin to a large energy blast that you would see mainly in anime like Dragon Ball Z being a prime example. It’s inspired off of the Master Spark, a signature move of Marisa Kirisame.
* Then finally there just sits Lunaria in the middle sitting on her crescent moon that has been morphed into a gap in the same fashion as Yukari, wielding the Star Rod, having the five ideya that are forming a pentagram surround and revolve around her, all while maintaining a smug face for her discovery and manipulation over these objects.
Page 3:
Tumblr media
This is only one object and it’s about the concept of taking the ideya of Courage, Hope, and Purity respectively and combining them to form the Star Rod itself.
I thought of taking the three ideya and stacking them together to give the impression of the form that they will take in two different patterns. Whatever on that you prefer. I’ll now translate the writing on the page:
* The Star Rod, along with the Fountain of Dreams, are symbols of HOPE and peace in Dream Land. (Extra) When the Star Rod is powering the Fountain of Dreams, the fountain is able to collect the hopes and dreams of the inhabitants. The Star Rod and the Fountain of Dreams are relied on by the inhabitants of Popstar, especially Dreamland, for the ability to dream and have restful sleep. The HOPE is represented through the star on the rod’s tip.
* The rod’s wielder can be viewed as an embodiment of HOPE in the eyes of a majority trapped in heavy conflict. Like a hero in a sense. Kirby is a good example of this.
* COURAGE comes from the wielder of the Star Rod themselves as does the ideya itself. The COURAGE is represented through the red stripes on the rod itself. Red stripes are a more suitable and stronger color for the Star Rod than the pink stripes in its other appearances like Smash for example. The red represents the rod’s raw power and the wielder’s willpower.
*The Star Rod bares a sense of PURITY, especially when it comes to its association with dreams. Possessing pure dreams, it is force to be reckoned with for a nightmare’s case.
* All of these points, especially the PURITY aspect that consists of the Star Rod possessing pure dream energy that is powerful enough to destroy nightmares as seen in Kirby’s Adventure/Nightmare in Dreamland, came to me being convinced that it can function as a border of dreams. If that wasn’t enough, its pure dream energy is able to serve as a boundary/barrier that only lets good dreams pass through while denying access to nightmares. Like a dream catcher in a sense. However, if you were to have a being that consists of pure nightmare energy, then it could prove to be a challenge for the Star Rod to take on. In fact, Nightmare himself could be seen as a pure nightmare that was powerful enough to attempt to corrupt the Star Rod and the Fountain of Dreams into nightmare-based objects instead.
* COURAGE, HOPE, AND PURITY are strong and prominent aspects of Kirby himself which makes him a rightful wielder of this Star Rod created from these three ideya.
Page 4:
Tumblr media
And now finally the last page for now, centering around the Fountain of Dreams and the ideya of GROWTH.
*The ideya of GROWTH is taken and morphed into the Fountain of Dreams itself.
* The Fountain of Dreams allows dreams and restful sleep to flourish throughout the land. It can collect and ensure the GROWTH of hopes and dreams of inhabitants, as long as the Star Rod is present to power it. Without the Star Rod, the fountain remains inactive, unable to provide GROWTH and eventually the inhabitants lose the ability to dream or to even cling onto HOPE itself the longer the Star Rod is absent and the Star Rod, possessing an aspect of HOPE, is the reason this HOPE is able to exist and flourish through the fountain.
* I know that the INTELLIGENCE ideya is not present on the last two pages since I couldn’t figure out what connection it would be appropriate to use it in terms of the Star Rod and the Fountain of Dreams. But now I figured that it would more likely remain in possession of the owner who would also become the wielder of the Star Rod depending on their strategies, knowledge of the Star Rod’s capabilities, and knowing how to tap into its powers. Overall, it comes down to the wielders knowledge on the Star Rod, the Fountain of Dreams, dreams, and what it means to dream as a whole.
*They say that nightmares will occur if the Star Rod is not present but this actually contradicts the fact that if the Star Rod is not in its place, then the inhabitants will lose the ability to dream entirely as made clear in the story of Kirby’s Adventure. They will lose the ability to dream neither good or bad dreams.
And can you ever imagine a world where dreams are nonexistent despite the fact of how much they allow the mind to sort out and process information and for the individual to reflect upon themselves? Also supporting the consciousness and being able to help a person discover their ambitions, purpose, and creativity. They are a good element to an artist when it also comes down to things like motivation and inspiration. Had dreams not exist, there would be no such things like growth or motivation. It would feel like a realm of the dead...
Anyways, that’s it for now! Don’t be afraid to tell me what you think about it or even willing to share your ideas on the matter. I had fun drawing and writing this and I will soon show and create more of it. I might also do this same kind of thing to the seven human souls from Undertale....

*cracks knuckles* 1-30 champ, i wanna know all about your cargyn c: (any au, pick your fave hehe)
I can’t decide if I love you or hate you for doing this to me but here we go-- (also I’m sorry but I rly struggled with Every Single One so I cut a few out dlfjhgsldgj)
(and in light of keeping these appropriate I’m gonna say that questions 6, 8, and 24 should be asked off anon by adults so I can answer privately uwu)
1. Who makes the first move and how?
[Uni AU] Morgyn makes the first move, hehe. Caleb sees Morgyn at a party and is infatuated immediately, and after they keep catching each other’s eye from across the room Morgyn eventually comes over to strike up conversation with this hottie standing against the back wall drinking alone.
2. Who is the most insecure and what makes them feel better?
[Gen] Both of them are insecure in their own ways tbh, so I don’t think I could pin it down solely to one of them, and will be answering for both.
Caleb struggles with depression and failing to be happy with the life he has (in the housemate AU it’s his vampirism, in the uni AU it’s him wanting a “dead end lifestyle” instead of the career path his father chose for him). Morgyn has anxiety and ADHD on top of having a rough childhood; he’s quite proactive in using coping skills and receiving treatment, but he still has his bad days and juggling all of those things at once can get to be too much for even the most confident of people. Some days he can’t leave the house because being in public is too nerve-wracking; some days he’s trapped in a brain fog where he can’t get anything done and it’s like he’s choking on his thoughts because they’re too loud and chaotic for him to make any sense of them. Both of them have spells where the concept of “existing” is overwhelming and all they can manage that day is curling up in bed in pajamas and a hoodie.
On Caleb’s bad days, Morgyn is tender and stable for him, making sure his needs are met and that he has the support he needs, whatever it may be that day. Sometimes he needs to vent, sometimes he needs space, sometimes he needs to mentally shut down for awhile and have someone he trusts take care of thinking about things and making decisions--but whatever it is, Morgyn is there to help and understands what he’s going through, at least enough to know where he’s coming from. On Morgyn’s bad days, Caleb is very sweet and loving and gives him lots of soft gentle affection. Morgyn has the tendency to get lost in his head during spells like these, so he either needs a medium to express his thoughts/feelings or a quiet escape to be able to sort them out and understand them. It usually results in Morgyn sitting in Caleb’s lap, on the floor, back against his chest with a cup of herbal tea.
3. Who is the most romantic?
[Gen] Caleb all the way. He’s a hopeless old-timey romantic and can’t resist opportunities to be a sweetheart :3
4. Who can’t keep their hands to themselves?
[Gen] Both >:3c But especially Caleb, hehehe
5. Who says ‘I love you’ first?
Depends on which AU, hehehe~
In the Housemate AU, Morgyn confesses first, but in the Uni AU, it’s Caleb who says it~
7. What do they get up to on a night out?
[Gen] Cute silly shenanigans usually, hehe. It depends on what it is specifically that they’re doing, and the AU, but it ends up being a mix of them being dorks in love and them being best friends that can have a great time together no matter where they go, uwu
9. What is the most embarrassing thing they have done in front of each other?
[Housemate AU] Caleb accidentally choked on a bite of plasmafruit when Morgyn startled him and made a mess from it, and Caleb walked in on Morgyn and L. Faba getting up to chaotic shenanigans that were really hard to explain out of context.
11. What do they hide from one another?
[Housemate AU] Well, at first they hide that they’re vampire and spellcaster, respectively. Once that’s off the table though, Morgyn evades any questions about his past and Caleb struggles opening up from a fear of being vulnerable.
12. What first changes when it starts getting serious?
[Gen] Their tender moments, those accidental ones that happen by chance without you realising it--before they were serious they resulted in blushes and awkward tension, but once they start getting Real Feelings they actually linger in them and it feels more comforting than anything else; like they found a pocket in space where time doesn’t pass and they can sit wrapped up in their bubble of intimacy, uwu
13. When do they realise they should get together?
Depends on the AU. In the Housemate AU, it’s when they spend one of Morgyn’s bad nights lying on the floor in Morgyn’s study, talking and having a Moment. (This is known among close friends as the Freckles Kiss Scene, which I will only elaborate on if asked specifically >:3c) In the Uni AU, it’s after Morgyn spends three days barely leaving Caleb’s side after Caleb has a breakdown and Morgyn is there to help piece himself back together.
19. Where do they go on their first date?
[Uni AU] After they both decide they can’t keep ignoring their feelings any longer, Caleb asks Morgyn if he can take him out properly the way he should have from the very beginning, and that weekend they do the classic “movie and dinner” setup, hehe. They ride on Caleb’s motorcycle to a quiet out-of-the-way park to take a long walk together, watch the sunset (while cuddling to share body heat bc it’s autumn and it gets cold), go see a movie, and get pizza for dinner while laughing together and having a fun time :3
20. Where do they go on holiday?
[Gen] Like a vacation? Somewhere warm and sunny. Preferably tropical. Morgyn’s always wanted to go where it’s summer year round (summer loving sunshine boy uwu) and Caleb is down for any trip where he can have fun and relax.
22. Where does their first kiss happen?
[Housemate AU] In the kitchen during the morning, after Caleb comes home from being out all night socialising and is still riding the “social high” enough that he doesn’t shy away from his attraction to Morgyn like he usually does. Helping Morgyn get a mug off of a too-high cabinet shelf turns into A Moment that gets pretty intense pretty fast and before they know it Morgyn is closing the space between them and Caleb is kissing him back and just!!!!!!! this scene has all my uwus you have no idea
23. Where is their favourite place to be together?
Anywhere feels like home in the arms of someone you love, uwu~
27. Why do their friends get annoyed with them?
[Gen] Because they won’t stop being cute and mushy together no matter how hard they try to keep the PDA to a minimum, hehehe
28. Why do they get jealous?
Morgyn doesn’t really get jealous because he’s very laid back about that kind of thing and trusts Caleb entirely. Caleb can get a bit jealous when so many people (understandably) fawn over his gorgeous boyfriend though, hehe. It’s nothing he’ll cause a scene over, but it’s definitely inspired some pointed kisses and hugs in public :3c
29. Why do they fall a little bit more in love?
[Gen] It’s always the littlest things. Caleb finds it adorable how Morgyn always sings or hums to himself in the shower, the way he’s always playing with his hair or fiddling with his rings or twirling pens in his fingers, the subtle lip bite he does when he’s deep in thought. For Morgyn it’s how Caleb always takes it upon himself to cook for them both (even in universes where Caleb doesn’t eat), the small cute romantic gestures, that one special heart-melting smile that reaches his eyes that he saves solely for Morgyn, the way he’ll listen to Morgyn ramble and gush about things he doesn’t understand for hours simply because he loves seeing Morgyn get passionate about his interests.
30. Why does it work (or not work) between them?
You already know the answer to this one--it’s Caleb and Morgyn. Their dynamic is one I could go on and on about for hours and still not have said enough about how I feel. Their push and pull, their sun and moon, their night and day duality; they are so different and yet so very much the same in all these ways I can’t list. They are simply themselves, together, in tandem with one another, and their balance brings me joy I do not have words to convey. It is ineffable, and it is love.

5. What is something you like about the art? If you have a favorite illustration, please share it!
6. What is a theme you like that the comic explores?
7. What do you like about the comic’s story or overall related content?
8. Overall, what do you think the comic’s strengths are?
Don’t feel inspired by the prompts? Feel free to discuss anything else that interested you!
Eightfish (Puppeteer)
woah, traditional comic :0 rare breed.
eli [a winged tale]
Indeed! I love the hook of the water spell and the creatures so far!
Joichi [Hybrid Dolls]
I got a chance to read it! So I like how it opens up the world building with the desert, the baby interacting with the llama beast. They are shown to to be in a harsh desert climate. 5. I really like the traditional look of the comic artwork. The magic shown by the mom is fasinating. How they seem connected to nature(edited)
SpaceBum
The beginning is so good! I also really like the families dynamic specifically between the chief and their daughter. I wish the chief had been more understanding of why her daughter stepped in to safe that guy even though I understand where they’re coming from
RebelVampire
For the beginning, I like kind of just how quick certain aspects of the world were introduced. Like the story pretty quickly established theres magic, how the nomadic tribe feeds themselves in the desert, and the stakes now that that is growing harder. You learn a lot about the world without there needing to be heavy exposition, which really helps with the story flow. My favorite moment in the comic so far is probably the market scene when Dorian appears since I enjoyed the brief interaction there and the communication gaps that had to be overcome because Thaina is deaf. It was interesting to see how that is handled in the comic's world. My favorite character right now is actually Thaina's mom who is holding the tribe together, taking risks, and doing everything a chief is able to do to keep things together. Can't not respect that. Also she makes awesome speeches. My favorite characters interacting is probably Thaina and her brother just because I like how similar they are and how they each help each other out. It's very cute and heartwarming.
Erin Ptah (BICP | Leif & Thorn)
Oh, wow, I love how this comic handles sign language. Mostly like a speech bubble, but the end of the tail, instead of being a point that leads to the mouth, opens up into a bracket to reflect that the dialogue is coming from the person's whole body? That's brilliant.
(And the way it's square instead of round, so you can tell what kind of speech it is even when there's no tail -- also a great choice.)
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
I love the look of this comic! And yeah, I agree Erin, the way sign language is handled in the comic is super cool. I’m really curious how the story is going to progress from here. Like, will we start to see measures taken against the nomads thanks to these city politicians? Will we focus more on Thaina and Dorian getting to know each other?
Feather J. Fern
The art is so cool, I love the woobly panels
RebelVampire
Back to questions. For the art, I like the color choices and blending quite a lot. The colors just all make the comic so pretty to look at, and somehow really suits the desert-y setting. That's some atmospheric about is that I really enjoy. As for themes, I like that the comic is exploring adapting to change. Whether we want to or not, life changes, and this often means we have to do things we never thought we'd do. And I like seeing that the comic hits that right up front and kind of shows/discusses inevitably how we adapt to these kind of changes and deal with them, whether healthy or not. As for the comic's overall story, I again like how communication is used in various ways to tell the story, from unreadable dialogue to sign language to just expressions. It really all speaks to how large a roll communication plays in our lives and the various forms it can come in. As for the comic's overall strengths, I'm gonna give it to just the fact in how unique it is with its traditional art style, deaf main character, and so forth. Sure you can find these in other comics, but it's rare to see it all together like this. So it makes for a genuine experience you won't get elsewhere
Comic Tea Party
DISCUSSION PROMPTS – PART 2
9. What do you think of the way the story handles dialogue and communication given the protagonist is deaf? How does this change how you look at dialogue in general for comics or how characters with disabilities are portrayed?
10. Why do you think the city has such negative attitudes towards the Thaina’s tribe, and do you think the city will grow past them? In what ways might Thaina directly influence the opinions of the city and those in charge?
11. Why do you think James is so adamant about expanding the water pipeline and banning magic? Is there some hidden agenda, or is James actually trying to do good for the city? What negative consequences might there be for either action?
12. What do you think Dorian’s role will be in the story? If a positive for the Thaina’s tribe, what do you think Dorian’s motivation will be? Also, how will Dorian’s actions affect people Dorian knows in the city?
Don’t feel inspired by the prompts? Feel free to discuss anything else that interested you!
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
I really love the way dialogue is handled with the deaf protagonist!!! The way speech bubbles are drawn is super unique and makes sense intuitively! Honestly, it's a style of speech bubble I may want to steal for my works at some point lol. I really like little touches too, like having speech bubbles with scribbles in them when Thaina turns away. It all just... clicks!
RebelVampire
I also really love the way the story handles dialogue. While I was a bit confused at first, once I figured out what they were going for, it felt really ingenious. It really stretches the boundaries of how you can make characters communicate, and that you can experiment with dialogue in a lot of different ways. I feel like the distrust and attitude for the tribe mostly just comes from the fact their outsiders. It's easy to feel that way about people you don't know, and when it's group vs. group, that getting to know you gap is super hard to overcome. So usually, especially when the groups just avoid each other generally this sentiment only grows. As for growing past it though, honestly I'm less hopeful. I'm sure Thaina can make some people go around, but change like this does not come easy or fast. :( In regards to James, I'm inclined to say a bit of both. I feel like James does have an ulterior motive, but I also don't feel like it's entirely selfish yet. More misguided if anything, cause it's not like a pipeline of water would only benefit James or banning magic wouldn't make it unsafe for everyone else. Though I definitely think this is one of those decisions where it sounds good in theory until they use up all the water or need magic for something and whoops, the longterm wasn't considered. As for Dorian's role, probably part contact in the city, probably part love interest? I don't really feel like I know Dorian enough to say.
Comic Tea Party
DISCUSSION PROMPTS – PART 3
13. What are you most looking forward to seeing in regards to the comic?
14. Any final words of encouragement for the comic?
Don’t feel inspired by the prompts? Feel free to discuss anything else that interested you!
sagaholmgaard
Ahh I only now reached chapter two but I just wanted to say that the comic looks really cool, I love the watercolor style and the way magic has been illustrated so far! And the different ways for communication is also really inspiring to see :0
warriorneedsfood
I like the comic very much. It’s brave to try to draw characters that can only communicate with sign language. And ‘taste my toes, criminal!’ Made me laugh out loud.
RebelVampire
I think what I'm most looking forward to in the comic is just seeing more Dorian since the story moved on so fast I'm excited to see Dorian's role in the story. As for final words, this is a very atmospheric comic that bravely takes a lot of chances that works out well, so even if it's not your cup of tea, it's definitely something to respect and study.

Coffee and Freckles CH1
COFFEE MORNINGS.
It is 5:30 Am. Changbin is too damn old for this shit. He rolls out of bed, stretches, opens the curtains and picks up the first clean smelling shirt he sees. Seen as he pretty much owns the café downstairs there's no strict dress code of button up shirts and smart pants, so he wears some black jeans and pulls a comfy hoodie over his shirt. He puts his shoes on as he makes his way down the stairs and into the café.
He sighs as he turns the sign over at the front of the door that reads ‘Come in! We’re open!.’ He remembers having to re draw that sign the first day he got here, his aunties English was pretty much non existent so it was written in Korean. They didn’t get many customers..
He takes a blood bag out from the safe under the floor behind the counter and pours it into his flask. Working a coffee shop means the smell of fresh coffee is constantly in the air which helps cover the faint traces of fresh blood. Changbin takes a long drink from the flask. There’s a wave of energy that passes through him and he feels more awake. He wipes the blood from around his mouth and puts the kettles onto boil.
The café is only really busy in the mornings and lunch. There are businessmen and women who stop in on their way to work and students who come for their first coffee of the day to make it through 6 hours of lectures. The university is only a few blocks away so more often than not, when it gets to 4pm on a weekday it’s full of students studying away in the warms of the café.
As suspected, the café gets busy around 7am with the regulars getting their coffees. There's a middle ages lady who comes in around lunch, her handbag balanced on one arm while she waves the other at Changbin while complaining about her coffee being two degrees colder than what she wanted. The handbag looks expensive, too expensive for this part of town. As she waits she fidgets uncomfortably where she stands trying to avoid people as they walk in an out the shop. She looks so out of place and Changbin scoffs lightly to himself.
He sighs and tells her ‘Your next order will be free and ill make it the right temperature Ma'am.’ He lies and hopes she won't come again.
There’s a few more people who drift in throughout the day, most are faces Changbin will forget. There’s a new face he’s not seen before who comes in with a bunch of students around lunch. His face splattered in freckles, hair pushed back out his eyes and smells like the woods.
The next time Changbin sees freckles -that's the name he’s gone about giving him in his head- he’s walking past the large glass window at the front of the shop. He’s got several books balanced in his arms with his bag hanging off his shoulder. There's two people beside him, one with red hair and a smile too big for his small face and the other with dark hair and an expression that says ‘I haven’t slept for weeks.’
“Same..” Changbin mumbles under his breath and his eyes flicker back to freckles.
It’s like a scene from a movie or a story he’d read on a tumblr, whatever that it. Freckle’s bag slips off his shoulder, the sudden action makes him drops his books and the loose sheets of notes inside fly out into the street.
Freckles’ friends stand there laughing at him as he runs around trying to catch the sheets of loose paper before they blow into the road and get destroyed by oncoming cars. Changbin leans against the countertop, a smirk on his lips as he watches the scene outside. He watches as the boy runs his hand through his hair and shove the paper into his bag.
“I wish I had my phone out to film that Fe. That was some rom-com drama shit right there.” The smiley redhead laughs.
Freckles, or Fe as his friend called him, glares at him from where he’s crouched zipping his backpack back up. “Maybe it’s a sign I shouldn’t be doing Korean language.”
This kid's voice is deep. Deeper than what Changbin was expecting. He looks down at the cup he’s been subconsciously drying for the past 10 minutes, he hears someone move outside so looks up and comes face to face with the redhead who's pressed against the glass grinning at him. The dark haired kid smiles and elbows freckles in the side. “You've got an admirer”
Sleepy does a slight grin and freckles head whips up to stare directly at Changbin behind the glass. Changbin blinks at the boy and quickly moves away to pretend to look busy. He hears the boys friends laugh together and even with his back turned, he hears them leave down the street.
Changbin’s seen many people he would class as attractive over the century or so he’s been around, but he’s never been so mesmerised by a random passer-by before. Hyunjin would say its just a passing emotion because his dead, cold heart couldn’t feel any emotion close to attraction.
Freckles comes in again around a week later. His hair is pushed back at one side and the other falls down into his eyes slightly. The redhead from before trails in behind him holding the hand of some pretty blonde dude. Hyunjin shoves him as he walks past carrying a tray of cakes to the elderly couple in the corner basking in the sunlight like a couple of potted plants.
Changbin looks up as freckles’ blonde friend makes his way over to the counter to make his order.
“What can I get for you.” Changbin puts on his best fake smile that Hyunjin scoffs at as he walks back behind the counter.
“Three iced coffees please.” He turns around to make the drinks. Hyunjin stands beside him, arms crossed watching.
Changbin looks up from the corner of his eye “Are you going to stand there all day or actually serve some people?” Hyunjin shrugs. “Why don’t you go annoy your boyfriend instead. Changbin fastens the plastic lids on the cups and pierces them with the straws.
“Seungminnie is in class ‘till 3.” Hyunjin pouts. He leans against the counter and watches Changbin carry the drinks over to the table in the corner where the three guys are sat. He weaves around the tables and narrowly misses someone who pulls their chair out on him as he walks by.
Changbin places the drinks down on the table. Freckles is distracted by the piles of paper and textbooks on the table in front of him and doesn't look up when Changbin walks over.
There's a cooling fan on the wall above the table, it's over a terrible flower painting that Changbin has been trying to take down for the past 7 years but has failed multiple times. There's a strong scent of wood and leaves that wafts towards Changbin. He shives as a cold breeze passes over his body but he suspects it isn't from the cool air.
“Uh maybe your number?” Red winks up at Changbin from where he's sipping on his coffee. He yelps in pain as someone, probably the blonde whos sitting opposite who he's been flirting with for the entire time they've been in the shop.
Changbin scoffs. “So no then.” He turns around and walks back to the counter where Hyunjin is stood laughing at him, he misses the small smile that etches it way onto freckles’ face.
“The guy in the beanie is pretty cute no?” Hyunjin raises his eyebrow at Changbin as he gets back behind the counter where he's stood. Changbin shrugs. “Wasn't looking.”
Hyunjin punches his arm and Changbin fakes being hurt. “I call bullshit.” There's an audible gasp from the potted plant ladies at the table next to the counter who look up from their books and tea to squint angrily at Hyunjin. He ignores them per usual. “I bet he makes your dead heart feel something.” He pushes himself off the worktop to serve a group of girls who bundle in from outside. They swoon over Hyunjin’s beauty but he brushes them off. Changbin scoffs, arrogant child.
The stack of papers piled up beside Freckles gradually gets smaller throughout the afternoon. Blondie left shortly after the coffees are finished, pressing a quick kiss to the bubbling red sat across the table for him and disappears out the door.
Soon Freckles packs up his stuff and leaves. On his way out he passes by the counter. Changbin is busy in the back doing something -avoiding- but manages to catch the conversation anyway.
“Would you ask your friend if he's still stood on not giving his number away?”
He hears Hyunjin laugh and decides to tune out. As he comes out the backroom, the bell over the door chimes as the back of Freckles blonde head of hair disappears out the shop and into the street. Hyunjin looks up as he’s wiping tea stains off the countertop.
“I assume you were listening to that? Your cutie wants your number.”
Changbin hums. “Isn't Seungmin out of class now?” He glances up at the clock. “Go annoy him or something.” He takes his apron off and hangs it on the rack at the back of the café. Hyunjin does the same and grabs his bag from the back room as he's heading to the door.
“Think about it yeah? You could do with some company for once..” He grins and Changbin watches his stupid face leave.
“I don't need to lose anyone else.” He sighs and looks down at the ring on his index finger.
It's raining the next time freckles’ stops by the café and he's alone. His hair is plastered to his head and his hoodie is stuck to his body and the books he's holding are soaked. He bangs on the café door and Changbin looks over at the clock on the bedside table, it reads 1:30am. Changbin sighs and makes his way downstairs. He flicks the light on and unlocks the door.
“We’re not open Y’know.” He moves out the way slightly so Freckles can get in out of the rain. He drops his books onto the nearest table and pulls his hoodie off. The shirt underneath is wet, not as wet as the hoodie but still sticks to him. He pulls it of his chest and it makes an odd sound. Changbin raises an eyebrow at the sound from where he's leaning against the door.
“Thanks for letting me in..” Freckles pushes his wet hair out of his face.
“I'll get you a towel.” Changbin disappears into the backroom and returns with several white towels. He throws them at the wet boy and chuckles when they land on his head.
“What are you doing out so late.” Changbin turns the kettle on and pours the water into his coffee cup.
Freckles wipes his face from all the water. “Had a night class, should’a finished at 11 but i stayed back to finish my work.” Changbin hums “How’s you know I’d let you in?” Freckles grins. “I didn't, I guess I took a chance on you being nice enough to open the door.”  Changbin smirks and tilts the cup he's holding at the other. “Want one?” “Nah I'm okay.” Freckles finishes drying his hair and stands up. “I'm gonna call a taxi and go home..”
True to his word, Freckles calls a taxi and goes home. Before he leaves he looks over his shoulder and smiles back at Changbin. “My names Felix by the way..” He leaves and climbs into the cab. Changbin watches him go and turns around to go upstairs but the pile of wet books beside a pile of wet towels make him stop. “‘Lil brat..” He picks the towels up. “Urgh, wet dog.” he carries the books and the towels up stairs and puts the books on the radiator and the towels in the wash. The books will warp but at least they’ll be readable.  As he’s spreading them out the cover of the last book catches his eye.
A study in mythology. The history of werewolves and vampires. “Huh..” He flicks the cover open, the text is runny and the pages are stuck together but he can make out the faint remains of handwriting and highlighted notes down the edges of the pages.
He closes the book and leaves it on the radiator as he heads to bed again.
When morning comes Hyunjin stroll in 10 mins late for his shift, Changbin doesn't bat an eye.
“Whose books are those.” His eyes flick over as he's puts his apron on. There's a bright yellow sticky note on the top book. It's got “필릭스” written on it. Hyunjin looks up questioningly. “Who's Felix?” Changbin pulls the sticky note out of his hand and slaps it onto the books. “None of your business. You're late.” Hyunjin rolls his eyes and flicks his hair from his face. “I was at Seungmin's dorm, he lives further than I do.”
The sleepy looking guy from the first time Changbin saw Felix comes into the café later with a smaller boy who looks around 17. The boy resembles a fox Changbin thinks. They order a tea, the tea for the older of the two and a banana milkshake for the child. The younger protests “I’m not a child anymore..” He pouts and goes to sit at the table while the other pays for the drinks.
“You know Felix right?” Changbin nods and slides their drinks over the counter and puts the money in the till. “I’m Chan by the way. I can take Felix’s books from you if you want? “ “Sure.” Changbin writes something on a napkin and slips into the first page of the top book. Chan raises an eyebrow at him but takes the drinks to the table with the younger boy.   “Here's your drink Jeongininnie. “ The younger boy pulls the drink closer and sips on the straw.
The café gets busier than normal now that exams are coming up. Most of the students come in to sit at a table for hours while they study and work on projects, some come in to get a strong hit of coffee to go as they rush between classes.
Seungmin pops in just after 4 to wait for Hyunjin after his shift. He's dyed his hair red and it matches the scarf he's got wrapped around his neck. He waits beside the counter awkwardly where Changbin's working. They haven't spoken much, only the few times when he pops in to wait for Hyunjin. They talk about the classes Seungmin takes and share stories about Hyunjin behind his back. He smells strongly like herbs and it makes Changbin's skin tingle.
Hyunjin makes his way back from getting some tables orders and books them into the till. Once done he throws his apron over Changbin's head and pulls Seungmin out the door with promises to make his hours back up.
Changbin is getting ready to close up after 5 when Felix appears on the other side of the door. He grins and holds up a bag of what looks like Chinese takeout. Changbin rolls his eyes and opens the door for him. Felix kicks it closed gently and turns the sign around to say closed.
The takeout is places on the table where Changbin is sat. “I assume you took another chance on me letting you in?”
Felix smiles at him and Changbin's heart skips a beat. “Nah I took a chance on you being hungry..” He unwraps the food and pushes a box over to Changbin. They eat in a comfortable silence sharing the boxes of food.
“So did you pick these up on your way home from class?” Felix watches his chopsticks slightly “Nah, I went for a run and was hungry, I saw you closing up as I was walking home..”
Changbin leans back in his chair and puts his chopsticks down on a scrap of clean cardboard. “You went for a run in converse and jeans?” Felix eats the last of his food before answering. “Converse are comfy though..”
They clean up the empty boxes and put them in the bins around the back of the café. Felix shuffles awkwardly by the main door like he's waiting for someone to say something.  Changbin walks to the stairs that lead up to the rooms upstairs. He pushes the door open slightly. “You gonna stand there all day or do you wanna come up?”  He ,moves out the way slightly and opens the door wider so Felix can walk up. “First door on the right” Felix heads up the stairs and goes into the room. Its a bedroom, Changbin's bedroom Felix assumes.
There's a bed on the far wall under a large window, the curtains are pulled back so the night light can filter through.  In the middle of the room there's a large circle cream rug with a leather couch beside it. There's a tv on the wall with a table underneath piled with books and DVD’s.
Felix looks around in awe “Damn your room is huge.”
Changbin pats the couch and turns the tv on, it flickers to life and he grabs the remote to turn the volume down. The couch moves under the weight of a body and Changbin turns round as Felix flops onto the couch. “Movie?”  Felix nods and they scroll through the channels till they find something to watch. They settle on ‘I am number four’ and Changbin flicks the light off at the side of the couch so they can watch the movie in the dark.
By the end of the movie they have moved closer together, their shoulders brush gently against each other. Half way through the movie Changbin pulls the blanket from over the back of the couch over the two of them.
The credits roll and Changbin turns the TV off so the room is dark again. There's shuffling at the end of the couch and Felix presses himself more against Changbin's shoulder.  Changbin angles his body so Felix has room to rest his head on his chest.
“Can I ask you a question?” Changbin's eyes flicker down to Felix on his chest “Go ahead.” There's a pause before Felix speak again “Where are your parents?”
Changbin sighs and shuffles slightly. “They died when I was younger.” “I’m sorry..”  His voice is quiet. He shuffles further into Changbin's chest and closes his eyes. Changbin can hear Felix’s heartbeat slow down as he falls asleep. The blanket is pulled up further around Felix’s shoulder to keep him warm. Changbin let's his head rest against the back of the couch and falls asleep.   Also cross posted on my AO3 if you guys wanna read the entire fic in one go, or wait for weekly updates on here!

The newly redesigned street in downtown Ho Chi Minh City, is right in the center of District 1. The coffee apartment at 42 Nguyen Hue is right in the middle of the street inbetween the Saigon River and the City Hall that sits on either end of Nguyen Hue.
What turns such an antiquated building into the trendiest place in all of Saigon? It’s the perfect combination of a youthful Saigon vibe with the timeless, nostalgic beauty that makes Building No. 42 stands out among other places. Come here to capture the best scenes of Saigon onto your Instagram, to shop until you drop and to fill your taste buds with endless food and coffee. Let this article guide you on your exploration into this spot, and take away plentiful recommendations for fun activities to do while you are here.
Nguyen Hue Cafe Apartment History
From a 60-year-old building to the coolest address on Nguyen Hue Walking Street
Building No. 42 charms visitors at the first look with its glorious history. Back in the Vietnam War when Saigon was the capital of Southern Vietnam, the nine-storey building at no. 42 Nguyen Hue Street housed many top-ranking government officers, including Truong Buu Khanh – the first secretary of the Vietnamese Embassy in Washington, as well as countless American military advisors, thanks to the central location.
When the Fall of Saigon in 1975 came, the building’s honored days slowly faded away. As Vietnam thrives in the world’s economy, skyscrapers rise higher and higher to take over the sky of Ho Chi Minh City, which turns the old apartment building into a dwarf among giants. After decades, time stained every corner of Building No. 42, from the dimly lit entrance with interlacing electrical wires to yellow brick walls with peeling paint and the twisting French-style staircase. Every breath inside the building gives you such a strong nostalgic feeling from a chaotic era.
The building revived its fame in an unexpected event in 2015. Due to the high rental fee in the city centre, small coffee shops and fashion boutiques turned their eyes to the old building No. 42. A wave of renovation hit the building quickly, and when Nguyen Hue Walking Street was open to the public, Building No. 42 also went viral on social media for its brand new appearance: a hip complex filled with nearly 30 coffee stores, fashion boutiques and other independent stores, each with a unique concept and Instagram-worthy atmosphere. The building engages hundreds of local people and tourists every day from morning ‘till dawn, and is now considered as the coolest address on Nguyen Hue walking street.
Once you start your journey here, prepare to be confused since the 1st floor is occupied entirely by Fahasa – a renowned chain of bookstores in Vietnam. The diminutive entrance is on the left of the book store. Now squeeze yourself to make your way through vehicles and the flow of people in and out of the building. Visitors can either wander floor by floor on the stone staircase or pay 3.000 VND to use the elevator, which will be reimbursed by some shops. The exciting area starts on the 2nd floor.
Among 3 sections of the building, section A is where most stores locate, thanks to the good view looking down to Nguyen Hue walking street and the Saigon river. Section B is a little more hidden than section A, but it still attracts a good amount of businesses due to spacious apartments. Residents remain in section C as apartments are not favorable for renovation.
While most stores open every day from 8 A.M to 10 P.M, the building is busiest in the evening. It’s the best time to see the building glows in the beautiful light from balconies and decorative billboards. If you want to explore every corner of the building, it may take most of the day. To save your time, here’s a list of what visitors usually do when visiting the building, from the most frequent activity to the unexpected ones.
The Best Instagram Cafes at 42 Nguyen Hue Apartment
Whether you’re a fan of photography, or you just want to share some beautiful holiday moments on social media, Building No. 42 is a must-go place for you. It’s not exaggerating to say that the building is filled with Instagram-worthy backgrounds. The most photo-taken spot is not anywhere inside, but the outer view of the whole building when looking up from Nguyen Hue walking street, especially at night when the building sparkles in the light of lanterns, hanging naked light bulbs, neon lights, billboards and decorating signs. The building’s cubic-like frame with evenly square balconies makes it look like a chocolate box full of tastes and styles.
Inside the building, artistic layouts can be spotted anywhere, from the fuzzy tiled corridors, tarnished window frames to rusty apartment doors. Before settling inside any shop, do take some photos in the hallway.  The most recommended background is the corridor of the 4th floor where a little tropical garden flourishes in the middle of the building. Or opt to the 6th floor to be surrounded in a Hoi An atmosphere with bright yellow walls and hanging lanterns all along the aisle. Even the elevator lobbies can become a hip background with different signs, billboards and maps of floors.
Now you have to make a hard decision of which store to step inside because all stores in Building No. 42 deserve the praise for their aesthetic interior. Most well-known cafés to Instagrammers include Partea, The Maker Concept, and The Letter Cafe. Partea is a classic English teahouse that actualizes every girl’s dream of living in a castle with royal-like decoration, while The Maker Concept’s industrial décor focuses on the chic, modern and somewhat minimalist style. Otherwise, come to The Letter Café to stay on a tranquil oasis in the middle of the chaotic Saigon, thanks to the elegant Hoi An influenced decoration.
After visiting beautiful stores recommended above, let’s step out to the balconies and take a look. From there you’ll get an overview of the busy walking street, Saigon River in a far sight and some iconic skyscrapers of Ho Chi Minh city. Buihaus Coffee & Workshop on the 7th floor or Boo Café on the 9th floor are most frequently visited for their spacious and wide-angled balconies, which is suitable to set up a good photo.

Best Coffee Shops in Cafe Apartment
Building No. 42 is called “the Coffee Apartment” for a reason. What makes people so excited about No. 42 is that the complex offers customers various drinks with different tastes in one place. Here you’ll find people filling all seats in these cafés every day, mostly youngsters who not only want to have a good drink but also look for a cool place to hang out, socialize and date. Here in Building No. 42, all of their needs are fulfilled.
For coffee addicts, you’ll have a hard time choosing a café in the building, because each store has their signature drinks that you don’t want to miss. To have a taste of Saigon style coffee, try Sai Gon Oi on the 5th floor. This shop has some different versions of the iconic ca phe sua da (Saigon iced milk coffee). A small detail that many customers like in this store is cute little name tags stuck onto your cup. The store also serves light desserts but we believe the true reason to visit is the drinks.
On the same floor, you can find Nau Saigon Café, a cool place to try some unique Vietnamese coffee such as egg coffee, foam milk coffee, or coconut coffee. Egg Coffee is quite famous in Vietnam and worth trying for any newcomers to unique Vietnam’s coffee universe. Don’t hesitate of the bizarre combination of whisked egg yolk layered on top of black coffee, because it’s likely that you’ll crave for the creamy, tasty flavour of the drink.
A tip for Instagram enthusiasts: Check out Thinker & Dreamer on the 4th floor. The drinks in this shop are famous for being Instagram-worthy. If you see a small camera icon on the menu, it means the drinks are “good for taking photos”. Their drinks range from classic coffee like espresso or cappuccino to other popular drinks such as juices and tea. The combination of their tastes and looks is worth the price.
For tea lovers, there are two addresses that you shouldn’t miss in this building: Partea on the 4th floor and Orientea on the 7th floor. Partea is considered as a fairy house in the middle of this tropical city. Customers are deeply in love with the royal-like ambience of the store, besides the extensive choice for tea flavours. You can even choose your own teacup from the store’s huge display of vintage utensils.
Orientea, as suggested in the name, is a place to taste oriental tea, mostly from Japan and China. The store receives positive reviews on the tranquil atmosphere and unique, delicate tea flavours. This is an ideal place to find a peaceful moment or to enjoy a Japanese tea ceremony.
To cool down the heat of Saigon, don’t forget to check out Mango Tree on the 3rd floor and taste the store’s most recommended beverage: Mango Snowflake – a Korean famous drink/ dessert called bingsu, made from shaved ice topped with fruits, syrup and condensed milk. The dessert is famous for melting down in your mouth at the first bite. Eating a full bowl of bingsu guarantees to give you a shiver even on a blistering hot day. Other places of Saigon may also have bingsu, but  is notable for special flavours from coffee, bubble milk tea to durian.
Cafe Apartment Food Recommendations
There are fewer restaurants in Building No. 42 than cafés, but almost all of them receive positive feedbacks for their quality and service. One thing for sure is whether you are into Eastern or Western cuisine, Building No. 42 has it all to offer.
Start from the 2nd floor at Poke Saigon where you’ll find tasty Hawaiian seafood. This is the first restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City that serves Poke – a popular appetizer in Hawaiian cuisine, composed of raw fish, salad, toppings and sauces, which tastes fresh and healthy. This restaurant is suitable for any meal in a day thanks to its diverse menu. Those who have a vegetarian or gluten-free diet can easily choose a dish from many options.  A great thing in Poke Saigon that many customers love is that you can create your own poke flavour from unlimited toppings and sauces.
On the 3rd floor is the right place for people who look for a European taste, with Dosh and Downtown Steakhouse. Dosh is a perfect bakery for your sweet tooth. Since its opening, Dosh has been one of the top-ranking bakeries in Saigon and received much attention.  Downtown Steakhouse is lesser-known, but all reviews about this restaurant are compliments for their tasty food. As suggested in the name, the restaurant’s main dish is American steaks and grills that satisfies your taste and vision. With delicious food, great outdoor setting, helpful service and affordable price, Downtown Steakhouse is worth visiting, especially suitable for dating and couples’ night-outs.
For fans of Italian cuisine, head to 8IELTS Café on the 4th floor. The good view and arty décor with beautiful wall drawings is the most significant feature of 8IELTS. The menu composes of general Italian food such as pizza and pasta. The price and customer service in this café receive mixed reviews but are still acceptable on the average. A good thing to note down is 8IELTS offers a generous weekly discount program every Wednesday and the cafe frequently throws live music nights.
If you have had enough of Western food, look for Michi Sushi on the 7th floor. Their menu covers a broad range in Japanese cuisine, including sushi, sashimi (a delicacy made from raw sliced meat or fish and served with soy sauce), teriyaki (broiled or grilled meat with a glaze of mirin, soy sauce and sugar), udon (Japanese noodles) and some Western – Japanese combined dishes. The food in Michi Sushi is praised for its freshness and delicate preparation. The price is reasonable with frequent discount programs, making Michi Sushi one of the busiest stores in Building No. 42.
Lastly, for those who want to try Vietnamese food, Saigon Vieux on the 2nd floor and Sai Gon Oi on the 5th floor are the places to go. Both cafes offer some traditional Vietnamese and Saigon dishes. While Saigon Vieux has a more diverse menu which is suitable for any meal in the day, Sai Gon Oi is better to grab a quick brunch.

All in combination makes a shopping spree in Building No. 42 definitely worth your time.
A small thing to keep in mind: clothing stores in Building No. 42 are mainly for female customers with standard Asian sizes, so don’t be surprised if you struggle to find a fit item. In that case, look for accessories, such as cool bags or jewels because you won’t be disappointed. Below are some recommendations for stores you should swing by.
For those who favour a minimalist style, Hayho Concept on the 2nd floor definitely wins your heart. Hayho Concept claims to serve customers “classic basics clothing with a twist”. For couples: don’t forget to dig into their T-shirt section and find some cool matching outfits as the store provides plentiful unisex items at all sizes.
To complete your minimalism - inspired look, head to a Scandinavian style store named The E.Y.E Saigon on the 4th floor. The artistic decor and display charm your eyes at first sight. Even though all products are plain black and white tote bags, they can add flavour to your outfit with creative designs, printings and unique slogans. The brand’s mission is to proudly promote sustainable buying habit and showcase Vietnamese culture through modern fashion. The store also offers good quality, stylish white tees and chic wall prints that are worth considering.
For girls who look for a feminine outfit, try Cosette or Chanchan. Cosette is a Vietnamese designer brand that emphasizes the classy beauty of vintage clothing. Their target customers are young office ladies who love to be trendy, yet maintain their formal and professional look.  If you adore the ao dai of Vietnam, do put this store onto your bucket list when you come to No. 42 as they offer a good selection of traditional, elegant ao dai styles.

Co-working Spaces in Saigon
Now, just when you think that you have known everything about this building, it still has more to offer. Besides eating and drinking, many cafes define themselves as co-working space and provide a great environment for freelancers or anyone who simply needs to make something done. Famous cafés that are dedicated to working or study space include The Maker Concept, Buihaus Coffee & Workshop and Thinker & Dreamer. Other cafés are also fine for working, except for busy hours in the evening.
For beauties, don’t forget to wander around some beauty stores in the building, such as Naunau DIY Studio on the 5th floor. This cosmetics brand allows you to make your own beauty products, from handmade beauty soaps to your personally designed perfume, all with natural, eco-friendly ingredients.
One thing for sure is that the business in Building No. 42 is competitive and frequently changing with more and more creative, unique stores pop up to the display, so the next time you visit it, prepare to discover some new and cool places.
The undefined future of Building No. 42
Despite many compliments, the building has some drawbacks. Since apartment owners renovated it individually, the building lacks systematic management and organization, which makes common services, such as parking and using the elevator, quite low quality. The common areas are not taken care of, which leads to complaints as “dirty and messy”. The run-down construction of this 60-year-old building brought a huge concern to both residents and customers about its safety. Moreover, turning apartments into business is actually illegal and a notice of eviction has been made to shut down the business here, though the government hasn’t taken any strong action yet.
While the future of Building No. 42 Nguyen Hue Walking Street is unclear, business still prospers with new stores opening every month or so. Rumour has it that the building will soon be demolished, but until that day, No. 42 stays as the coolest address on Nguyen Hue Street and one of the best places to visit in Ho Chi Minh City. Check it out as soon as you can, before this unique place becomes the past.

Her curly, rose-gold hair falls in a long ponytail to her behind and always covers her right eye. The reason why changes every time you ask her, and any attempts to look under are fooled by a heart-shaped eyepatch with “Nice Try!” embroidered on the front. “A magician never reveals her tricks” indeed!
Her performance and thieving outfit is a pink bunny suit covered by a scarlet waistcoat and bow tie, a white longcoat without any sleeves, and a matching white top hat and boots. She also wears dark patterned tights and a scarlet garter on her left leg, usually there to hold whatever tools she may need it to. The hat worn at an angle with one ear flopping out is a detail she particularly loves, and her scarlet gloves have been the source of more than one “caught red handed” joke from her.
Personality:
With a bubbly and sweet voice like hers, it would be hard to think of Carmen as anything but a cute hard worker. Becoming a magician in a world that’s already full of everything someone could ever want to see must take some doing, after all, and she tackles that challenge in hopes of inspiring other bright stars to break out from the world’s insincere lustre. She faces every obstacle in life with a nonchalant smile as though it was simply a performance, even down to doing it as acrobatically or dramatically as possible. She tends to get attached to people quickly, often using pet names like darling or chérie when she speaks to them, and has a soft spot for children.
Her cool-headed suaveness is often to hide another side of her, though. Rarely ever being seen upset, if ever at all, makes her the perfect thief that can adapt to any situation. She’s ready to do whatever she needs to get whatever she needs, but still adheres to her personal rules of avoiding murder or long-term injury as much as she can. If she stays with you for the night, however, don’t expect half your things (or her) to be there the next morning. More often than not, she steals for the thrill of the chase more so than the treasure itself, and won’t normally go after treasures with sentimental value. That doesn’t stop her lifting something small and showing off with a little “ta-da!” motion every now and then as though it was part of her magic act, though. Her life as a thief is one of many secrets she holds, and much like an actual rabbit, will only ever expose herself when she can be certain the person involved can be trusted. The only time she’s ever been seen dropping her cool persona is beginning to panic if her ears are pulled too hard.
This magic rabbit can keep any audience under her hat as the main attraction, and can just as easily sneak by without a single person spotting her - talk about stealing your heart!
Background:
Nobody can ever remember when it all started; what the world was like so long ago, when man stayed anchored to the world below him. Some say it paid back his kindness with its own life, and some say he stole it clean. Whatever the truth may be, it led man high above the rotting earth with machines powered by the captured mana that once ran through the soil, leaves, and oceans stored in crystals known as Broach.
Initially meant to serve as a transport from shore to shore, they quickly became something more than themselves. They became cities, entire havens came together to form their own country in the clouds. The further humanity strayed from the warm arms of nature, the weaker their hold on it became.
That was, at least, until the Angora came. Not many know where from, and those that do have long since been ‘inducted’ into a certain community far away from the surface. As a strange mutation of humanity with the features of animals and an extraordinary connection to the remaining mana, they quickly became a fundamental part of officially turning the machines into a home and helping to revive its life. On top of that, their connection allowed wholly new powers to bloom in those fortunate enough. Streets began to shine, children began to laugh, and for the first time, almost felt like they could truly be homes.
While the world was once again lively, not everyone was satisfied with the gaudy gold and retina-burning lights. One such girl, a rabbit with hair as pink as her cheeks and a voice as sweet as her perfume, appeared as though from nowhere on the stage of the Chandelier’s most renowned casino. With a magical affinity unlike any other, she stole the hearts of everyone in the room in one fell swoop, and with them paved the way to lighting up the streets that remained in the dark. After all, what would one more lie be to the long web? A sweet word here, a little helping hand there… and all that was left at the scene of the Chandelier’s first heist was one card; the Queen of Hearts.
Over, over, and over again, this cycle of romancing her way in and exploding her way out with only a card as her trail. Even as suspicions began to arise, spotting that familiar white coat in the escape, it wasn’t as though she stayed in one place for long enough for anyone to interrogate her. This was, of course, much to the chagrin of a certain fox detective that always, always managed to just catch the heels of her dramatic exits.
Still, that’s simply the life of a charming, beautiful, amazing phantom thief, isn’t it? Hopping from place to place, putting on a show, and always giving a smile even in the worst times. For Carmen, it’s the cheers from those in the shadows, those slowly becoming unblinded by such insincere lights, that keep her going. She’ll always have someone to turn to, even if it has to be herself.
After all, the show must go on!
Memento:
Presto - A telescopic cane that can extend and retract from the curved handle, often stored in her hat when not in use. A mechanism inside stores the kinetic energy of her movements with it, charging up a blast to let loose from the tip! She likes to extend it with a cheerful call of “Hey, Presto!”, but it’s not at all required.
Natural Abilities:
Angora Traits - Her long rabbit ears provide a huge boost in hearing range and overall cuteness, but she can be overloaded with enough noise. She can see better than a human in low light, but not in total darkness. She also has naturally high agility, jumping power, and flexibility, very useful for both escapes and performances.
N.Y.S.M. Unit - A ‘natural’ ability in name only. Using special equipment implanted in her hidden eye especially for her mischief, she is normally able to perform basic illusionary magic (small water spouts, hiding small items for sleight-of-hand tricks, harmless plumes of flame, etc.) to add some sparkle to her tricks. Carmen, a master of disguises and trickery, uses it to affect herself and one other person/large object at most. In heists, disguising herself, changing her voice, and hiding her ears with this has gotten her out of more than one sticky situation.
Power History:
Back in the Room! - Carmen’s unique power and one of her favourite tricks, allowing her to lull someone into a daze and give them orders. In order to drastically change someone (i.e. changing morals or memories), she requires their permission to hypnotise them and get deep into their mind. However, gentler suggestions can be done with or without permission, much to the dismay of the friend who took the last slice of cake just before her. In either case, a character’s writer will be asked before using this ability!
Extra:
Her surname, de la Pin, is a double pun - “lapin” being the French word for rabbit, and “Lupin” being the surname of another renowned French thief. Her forename, Carmen, also has French origins from the novella of the same name known for its femme fatale heroine.
She has a habit of sorting and flourishing cards to keep her hands busy.
Her favourite drink is tea with milk and however many sugars the one serving it thinks she needs. It’s a good way to tell how people think about her!
Carmen is able to play both the piano and the saxophone, and isn’t half bad as a singer! She likes to leave it as a surprise for people to find when they least expect it.
The ‘N.Y.S.M.’ Unit is short for Now You See Me. Yes, she chose it.

*Scenario*
Genji/McCree with an S/O with absolutely downright terrible insomnia? How would they go about helping their S/O?
Heya!! I’m alive again everyone, and hopefully I’ll be able to keep up with my schedule again now that finals have finally ended and I survived. I actually loved this prompt because while I don’t have insomnia, I usually end up staying up very late because I’m too anxious too fall asleep. Turns out all I needed to do was get off my butt and make some tea to chill out, but insomnia obviously isn’t that easy.
Hope you enjoy these scenarios my friend! And I also hope the s/o likes tea, because that’s what I’m making them drink ahaaa <3
*If I get anything about the prompt incorrect or you find that it wasn’t what you were looking for, then please let me know and I’ll try my best to fix any mistakes in writing!
Jesse McCree:
You did not bother to lay in bed awake anymore, as the false hope had already been drained out of you long ago.
The prolonged amount of time you spent watching the red lit up numbers in the darkened room rolled on, and your thoughts were too jumbled up to even think of relaxing down again for sleep. So, you moved your gaze around the room to take in your surroundings.
You and Jesse had been immensely tired when you came home from a quick two day mission, barely getting dinner in before passing out on the rickety bed. Your memory was fuzzy on how you ended up asleep, and vaguely wondering whether or not you passed right as you hit the sheets. At least Jesse had found enough time to snuggle into you during the process, his hat strewn over half his face and hair in such a manner that was silly.
Then again, he always was a cuddler. Perhaps he’d just moved to embrace you as he shifted to get comfortable.
The red covers that surrounded you felt too stuffy, warmth coming onto skin that wasn’t welcome. You had to carefully peel them off of you without disturbing the man clutching to your waist from behind. Two hands. He forgot to take off his prosthetic again.
Jesse’s room was clean ever since you’d moved your own items into it, but there were little piles of wrappers or unlit cigars laying here and there. From the small window came little slats of light from the moon that bounced off the walls through the blinds, tiny dust particles catching your attention.
You were too tired to try and grab one.
The closet door was only hiding a mess from within, your row of hung up clothing being neat, as your boyfriend’s side being messier. Some jackets weren’t even fully hung up, and would it kill him to buy anything other than flannels and Southern joke shirts from time to time? Not that you were complaining, but last time you both went somewhere fancy for two days in a row he seemed to have no shame in only owning one nice suit.
But that would be like asking Jesse to stop being Jesse, and that was simply unacceptable.
Removing his prosthetic was easy ever since he taught you, using gentle fingers to press certain parts of the mechanical arm until it came off. It was just as heavy as it looked, cold metal gleaming in blue light, and you had to use both hands to sit up and place it on the bedside table. His hat was plucked off his face as you rose, already planning on going to the kitchen anyways. Hanging it up along the way wouldn’t be too much trouble.
And so the sheets were pulled up to apply comfort to him, and a pillow in his arms masked your unknown absence. There was a hat hung up on the wall once the bedroom door silently shut.
The base in Gibraltar was a work in progress, but the love from the people around you slowly nursed it back to health. Just a few days ago before the mission’s departure, Mei and Hanzo had helped you clean up one of the lounging rooms to turn into a movie area. Mei had always been so eager to show her favorite films, lighthearted as they came, and Hanzo had been brought in slowly and surely with the promise of good company. He had even shown a few movies from time to time that he clearly liked himself, and the three of you would laugh over his comedies excessively. Who knew that such a serious man had such a good sense of humor? It had been about time you made that room.
Of course, Jesse had suddenly taken a liking to the room as well once it was up and running, and proposed watching a few Western classics. It took everything you had and more not to burst out laughing at Hanzo’s murderous expression.
The halls were dark and quiet, but the memory of your friends had left you chuckling to yourself as you entered the kitchen, bare feet feeling cooler on the tile. The light was nearly blinding. Hanzo had promised more tea today since he was off of work and could go to the store, knowing how much it helped you during the long nights. It was a silent but caring gesture, one he’d act like took the world to even get himself thinking about later on. Everyone can tell he doesn’t mean it.
“So much matcha…” you had mumbled, flipping through several packets of them before taking entire boxes of it out of the tea drawer all together. Well, no use wondering what Hanzo’s favorite tea was anymore.
Green tea, white tea, earl grey, black…
Chamomile.
Jesse always thought it was cute that you called chamomile tea ‘sleepy tea’ rather than the real thing. Hanzo’s eyebrows had just about hit his hairline right when he heard you say it for the first time. He obviously wasn’t annoyed by it though, or he’d speak his mind. Big mouth, he had. Probably just next in line with McCree’s. Or maybe even Lena’s.
The water heated in an automatic kettle, the only noises in the room being the sound of bubbling hot water and heavy footsteps from the hallways.
Footsteps?
You had nearly jumped to the roof when you felt an arm wrap around your middle, the startled squeak from your throat amusing your holder endlessly. It was a deep, grumbly chuckle that vibrated against your back, and you knew who it was the moment you felt the shaggy hair on your shoulder.
“Thought you could trick me, didn’ ya? Gonna take more than a pillow for convincing me you’re still there.”
Jesse.
“You forgot to take off your arm again. You’re lucky I woke up, or else you would’ve had to deal with all those blisters on your own.” The water gurgled in it’s confinements, and you fetched a cup from the cabinet right above you before moving to pour the hot liquid into the freedom on an awaiting mug.
“Aww, it’s like you care about lil’ ol’ me,” the hand on your side moved to your stomach, and the man pressed himself more securely against your back. He only placed the slightest bit of his weight on you though, an act you could see was done in care. “You gotta crush on me, sweetheart?”
The kettle was returned to it’s place, and a little bag of herbs was gently set inside the steaming cup. You took this time to turn around with a little smile, wrapping your arms around Jesse’s neck to pull the two of you together. He looked tired. You had a feeling you should play in this little game he’s created.
“And what if I do find you a looker?” Your voice sounded softly in the silence, despite there being nobody to wake so closely that you’d need to whisper. A mischievous and low tone, like the very pinnacle of quietness would be offended by your normal speaking voice.
McCree pretended to gasp in surprise, pressing both of your foreheads together to bring you closer. The action left you snorting out a giggle, his facial expression too much for you to keep up your side of the scene.
“Well, I’ll be. Never knew I’d reel in such a gorgeous face.” His eyes grew kind, and you could see that he was no longer feigning seriousness when he asked you, “What’s a darlin’ like you doin’ all alone in a place like this?”
Jesse never really showed this softer side of him unless you were by yourselves, a gentle curve to a usually rough face letting his concern be seen. There was a little twinkle in his eye as he looked at you. It was then a realization had taken over that the cowboy had been swaying your bodies together slowly as you stood there.
Comfort.
He never woke up this late without a good reason, and slept too hard to be woken up by your movements.
“I should be asking you that, Jesse. You already know why I’m here,” You could feel his cheek forming into a smile when you leaned over to press a light kiss to it, and you could feel the way he pressed back into your nuzzle against the side of his head. He preened under your attention, humming before you were able to continue, “Did you have The Dream again?”
The first few times you’d caught him down here with you and said that he’d stiffened, but as time got around he slowly began to turn to jelly at your understanding. His fingers shook a little over your back, and the next breath he let out was shaky.
“Yeah.”
A short answer for such a mouthy man.
The two of you had spent a few more comfortable minutes holding each other, you petting at his disheveled hair and him leaning his forehead on your shoulder to let you do so easier. He rested his eyes and focused on breathing, your heartbeat a good coach for his own.
When you finally pulled apart, you knew he’d sought you out for this exact reason. He’d probably had an attack before he came for your comfort, your poor boyfriend not having you to help him in his time of need.
There was that mutual understanding, and yet you did not speak it.
“Hey, why don’t you go pick an Old Western in the movie room while I get us some popcorn?” You asked, your hand brushing over the cheek you just kissed. The skin there was rough from lessened care and a rather unruly beard. He seemed relieved at your suggestion, eyes settling closed in a relaxed state, and you could tell that the two of you would be doing another all-nighter. Moving his face so his lips brushed against your palm, he kissed down to your wrist while mumbling.
“Make me a hot coco too?”
Your kind chuckle filled him with warmth.
“Of course.”
 Genji Shimada:
You had been laying here for a long time.
The clock ticked very slowly in your opinion, and in the darkness you could barely see that the hands pointed out it was two in the morning. There was a softly snoring cyborg sprawled across half of your body, uncovered face pressing firmly into your shoulder and looking perfectly content. Usually you’d get up slowly to go get some tea and relax on one of the many balconies of the Gibraltar Base, but Genji was such a light sleeper whenever he managed to do so, and you really didn’t want to disturb that. Even shuffling into a different position has him grunting and whining, trying to find somewhere else warm to press his face into your skin.
Luckily, tonight the cyborg decided he wants to flop onto the other side of the bed, moving with the sheets in waves. The covers were a total mess compared to the rest of the room. It seems Genji never really outgrew how he used to sleep when he was younger, had he? Everything else he did was with such gracefulness, even the cleaning of his living area.
The room was almost barren compared to everyone else’s. If someone were to come in and try to decide who’s room it was, they’d probably think it was your’s. It was really only your items that were placed here and there with precision on the counters and bedside tables, some of them moved slightly throughout the evenings since Genji insisted on dusting and sweeping everyday. He had travelled lightly for such a long time though, so it makes sense that he didn’t have much, but you occasionally pulled him along with you to the store to grab a few cute decoratives for your room.
And because of the small amount of little knick knacks on top of the old dresser from this, you could recall each one’s story. An old stone wrapped with a silver dragon, settled upon it in rest. That one you got in San Francisco from a quaint, magical themed store. A small bunny figurine, a soft baby pink color. It was a gift from Hana, for the lessons in aim for her little deadly pistol. The antique Shimada family’s dragon pipe. Formerly Hanzo’s, a housewarming gift that was meant with good intentions, but incredibly awkward when presented with. His brother didn’t seem the type to give gifts, so you could only credit him for trying his best.
The closet was your own because the only space he needed in there were a few shelves to hold onto boxes of different armor. He always pulled out all your clothes in groups if they’d been in there for more than a week for washing, along with all your dirty ones as well. You’d chastised him for babying you too much and not splitting the work with you, but he said he enjoyed how calming it was to get it done. So you supposed that was just how it was going to be. At least your clothes smelled amazing all the time.
Getting off of the bed silently was already a miracle to behold, because usually he’d peek up at the softest of sounds. The moment you were able to sit up you slipped on some socks to mask your footsteps a bit before rising. The groan of the bed was loud in contrast to the silence, and you held your breath for the noise of Genji’s stirring.
No offended sheets shuffled in your waking.
The clock on the bedside table beside you ticked softly.
The movement of the small fan above the bed whirred in the darkness.
You had escaped the snuggly grasp of one of the best assassins on the planet.
Or had you?
“Why are you up so late?” The voice still had a metallic undertone to it, even when the owner wasn’t wearing his visor. But as nice as it was to hear it, you hadn’t meant to wake your boyfriend, knowing he’d probably opened his eyes the moment you’d shifted beneath the blankets. You could hear him now, the metal of his body scraping against the sheets as he moved forward to press his face into your back. Two arms locked securely around your ribs.
You could never escape the snuggly grasp of one of the best assassins on the planet.
A breathy laugh bubbled from your throat, and you placed your hands to rest on top of his own. Genji already knew why you were awake, he always did.
He also knew why you’d try to sneak away whenever this happened, too.
“I was about to go get some tea.”
You could feel him hum against your back in acknowledgement, nodding even though you could only feel it on the pressure of your shirt.
“And not invite me? I’ve been told that I’m the life of the party.”
“How many parties have you even gone to, Genji?”
A light scoff, a puff of warm breath through the cloth of your top, “What, are you suggesting I was the loser of the school? My own sweetheart, not even aware of how cool I really am.”
“Maybe not a loser, but you definitely got the prize for world’s biggest dork.”
“This is ridiculous. If we had known each other back then you’d be crawling all over me.”
“Are you looking to woo me, playboy?”
“Perhaps. I may even put down my lifestyle for a bit to enjoy your company.”
“Generous of you. We can meet over a cup of tea.”
The laugh that came from the cyborg was so genuine and snorty, that you could only wonder if he was pulling your leg about the whole ‘playboy past’ thing. But who knows, Genji was always good at acting. A skill he was often praised for through his work in Blackwatch before the explosion.
“Let us go now then.”
Walking to the kitchen with Genji was almost a nightly occurrence by now, when your sleep ran away from you and your thoughts took you to different places. However, nothing will ever beat the familiarity of the low green lights from his body bouncing against the darkened walls of the hallways, lighting your way with his hand grasping your’s. These little meetings that you had were almost like a necessity by now. With nobody else on base to disturb or separate you two, only your giggles echoing through otherwise empty rooms as you found a nice place to settle down.
This time, Genji led you to an easily accessible spot on one of the roof’s of the buildings, stars twinkling overhead. When you’d had trouble climbing one of the crates to scale the structure, he’d taken it upon himself to lift you up there. Your surprise yell at his sudden grabbing made you both pause for only a moment to see if anyone had awoken through dark tinted windows, before snickering in the shadows as you continued on. It felt like being a teenager again, running off out the window in a cliche movie to go on a date with a boy you probably shouldn’t be seeing. It made you feel so young.
It made you feel alive.
Genji was the one to run off and get the supplies for your late night picnic, the several bags of junk food, blankets, and various electronics being passed up to you to sort out. In the end, you and the younger Shimada ended up curling together under the night sky, stars winking down at your nest of blankets and snacks.
The tea was tucked into it’s own little cup holder, cyborg too busy trying to give you a kiss for you to notice it’s steam wavering in the cold air.
A movie’s plot buzzed on in the background, hologram screen from a small device all but forgotten.
There you would eventually find rest again, the moon the only witness to both of your indulgent eating and sickening sweet attention. A cold, metal hand would feel comforting when it brushed the skin of your high cheekbone.
And then Genji would carefully pick you up from your spot to tuck you back into the warm bed you previously did not desire.

I’m really happy it’s spring and I’m enjoying seeing buds on the trees and flowers that are starting to bloom but I also really can’t wait for it to be the fall because I miss you... I miss you every day. I need you to come back home, safe. To me. Take care of yourself, okay? I'm not made to live without you, Nic.

Good morning, my love!
Today I had the evening off and my friend Mary and I went to a weird woodsy town on the island and went thrift shopping and got a bunch of fun stuff, then had lunch and went on a forest quest! We hiked along the river and I pulled my dress up to dip in the water and picked up shells from the stream! I found a rosy one! I was so delighted. We walked a lot and I scavenged a golden pine needle, an acorn, pinecones and pretty stones! I want you to hold them when you're home, so you feel the energy of this island! It's magical! Then she hung out up at the lighthouse for a bit and we had lemon tea with cardamom cake before I went over my lines and scenes one last time. Pretty close to a literally perfect day... Almost.
When you're here, every day will be perfect.
Take care of yourself and have a nice and cozy day, sweetheart. Your girl is going to sleep now.
I love you.

Hey baby, I just got home from work and I'm horribly tired! I worked from 5 in the morning to 3, then I had a break until 5, then worked from 5 until now (it's ten!) My feet are killing me, I boiled some water and I'm sitting at the table with my legs in it in a little basin under the table and eating a bowl of hot rice soup with broccoli.
Oh! I bought a cute owl wax melter today! This adds to my hoard of candles, loose incense, and incense sticks but I still need more. I know I don't truly need it but my little heart! oh, it does! I told myself I will start being more responsible with my spending because we are moving soon, but here I am! I just bookmarked a $20 candle shaped like a cloud. I don't need it! You should scold me!
I'm so, so tired so I think I'm just gonna eat, take a hot shower then go to bed because I work all day again tomorrow... God, I can't wait to be able to curl up in your arms and sleep with my face buried in your chest. I miss it so much. I miss you. I miss how you smell. I miss feeling you squeeze me tight to you. I miss it all. Every little thing. My heart.
Be well, okay? I'm keeping you in my thoughts. Goodnight, darling!

Hey, loon!
So you know how I really, really enjoy tofu but I’ve never cooked with it before? I decided to cook with it today! I made spaghetti in a sesame sauce and sautéed some onions and mixed that together and then I pan fried some tofu to put on top of the spaghetti and I am eating it right now, it is so wonderful! I wish you were here to feed you a ton of it! I'm gonna eat my bowl and leave some for Anna and then I'll take the rest of it and go over to see Eric for a while until work... I worked 6 to 13:00 and now it's half past three and I work again at seven until midnight, I think.
Right now, I have a sage scented candle and vanilla incense sticks burning at the same time – they compliment each other in smells in such a nice smokey herbal way. I'm eating and writing and then I'll get up and put on my red sundress with the tiny daisies and pull my hair up in a ponytail.
You better make sure to get a lot of rest and eat well. For me. I'll write to you again tomorrow.
Be safe ❤

My mum and I drove past the tiny house I grew up in today since we were going in that direction and we were curious about how the current owners are taking care of the place... But... I only got sad when I saw it because the garden got so overgrown. It looks like they just left the garden entirely untouched. My mom and I spent so much time in that garden with my dog Peach as I was growing up. We only lived there for two and a half years but I have so many fond memories of my childhood in that garden. We put in a stone walkway and put river rocks that we gathered in between the raised garden beds. We built and stained all the garden boxes and painted them yellow and orange and blue and replaced them when the wood would get too weathered. It meant so much to us. We had 5 large garden beds and they had neat, long dividers in half so we would plant 10 different types of berries and veggies and herbs! Each fall we would clear out the garden of debris and rotten leaves and we would turn the soil and we would turn it again in the spring and we wore our bandanas and laughed while we did it. The most fun part was waiting for the last frost of spring so we could go to a tiny store in Brooklyn and buy a ton of seeds and young plants and herbs and roots for the next gardening year. I spent so much time and put so much love into that garden! We would make different dishes and desserts and teas with all the food we grew. My mom taught me so much about gardening in that place. She let me water with the yellow hose and I watched her trim the plants and helped harvest when they were heavy with produce and ate the biggest strawberries! We also grew lavender and lemon balm and had a huge section for raspberry bushes. It was so beautiful and wild and loved...and seeing it just overgrown and uncared for hurt me so much. I feel a little stupid for tearing up over it but it’s not like they just got rid of the garden...they just let it go and did nothing with it and now it's dead.
I’m torn up about this.
When we live together, I'm going to plant a ton of flowers and vegetables in our garden, and feed our little family from it and it'll be just like my little garden in that house.
I love you!
Your girl

My love I can't stop thinking about you today. I can't stop. At work, I sat in my trailer, looking at you and day dreaming about when you'll be here, with me. I melted. I felt like I would explode for how much I love you. I love you fiercely. Unconditionally. I love you more than anything in the world. No matter what I’m here for you. Don't ever forget that. I'm here for you and I only want what’s best for you. I want you to be happy and thriving. I am so in love with you, I'm laughing right now. I feel like my chest is all swollen and warm with everything I feel for you. I just feel really blessed to have you in my life. I’m very happy. Madly. Deeply.
All because of you.
my sweet, sweet love.

I painted my nails a deep red wine colour and it compliments my skin tone so much! I’m so happy about this beautiful colour! I'm sending you a picture!

Hey, baby!
So, today after work I wanted to hang out with my mom, so I went to the organic grocery store and got some fresh fruit and cheese and drove up to her house. But her front door is a nearly 100 year old door. It’s an old, sturdy, heavy vintage door. It also happens to be very moody. Most days it takes 5 tries to unlock the door. Today, it took an entire 15 minutes. I was literally stuck outside with groceries trying to unlock this temperamental door because my mom and Enzo were still on their way home, and when I was about ready to cry it decided to open up! Thus ends Lis' Sadness Corner!
Anyway, we then had dinner together and talked about my work and you etc and now I'm upstairs, running myself a steamy bubble bath. I'm going to sleep here tonight, I'm too exhausted to drive back to the apartment.
Goodnight my sweet darling :)
PS. don't you laugh at me and my pain! I'll know it if you do!

Hey babe,
I'm writing to you before work while I'm taking my breakfast outside, munching on pears and yogurt with apple jam and fresh bread with warm butter and a glass of milk. Ireland is so chilly and today it’s one of those beautiful and cold mornings when the air is thin and light and crisp. I love these mornings so much! I can either have the window open or go outside and enjoy my morning tea amongst the crickets and birds chirping and the crows kawing. The air is so misty and there's dew all over the grass and spider webs. Good morning! This is such a great morning. I wish you were here, we would eat and go for a long walk and explore the little town and the woods, but instead I have to work all day. Atrocious. Anyway...
Have a nice day yourself, baby! I'm leaving you now to finish eating and warm up my voice a little.
Lots of kisses, your girl ❤
