writer's blurp: despite how long ago chapter 16 was, i still think about how the brothers must feel and act after the events of it as one of my mind wandering thoughts. leviathan time sweetie pie.

the brothers : [ mammon ]

- master of the sea-dragon lotan, peerless in military might, and despite everything, his name and actions carry power behind it, but that power does absolutely nothing to stall your death or protect you.

- try as he might and sweep how he feels about you under the rug or act like he wasn't affected at all by what is belphie had done-- leviathan is shaken to his very core.

- leviathan would like to assume that he's more subtle than mammon with his worry. choosing to watch over you from afar rather than dance around you like a worried mother hen.

- he is in fact not subtle at all.

- from pulling you into watch-a-thons of shows that you wouldn't be able to see in the human world and making you stay up late with him for endurance runs in video games. leviathan isn't subtle at all, but if you notice the small change in his actions then you don't mention it to him.

- the two of you start late at night and do whatever you feel like till the early hours of the morning. sometimes going to school without any sleep, but a mischievous smile on your face while you doze off and text in class.

- it isn't until one-night leviathan crumbles.

- you dozed off while watching leviathan play a new visual novel that he's been looking forward to playing. when he asked you to join him, to help make a few choices and see if he could get the good route you said yes and asked what snacks you should bring for the session.

- everything was going great, and leviathan was positive that he had gotten all of the correct answers and events right for the good ending he wanted for his chosen love interest. it isn't until the game suddenly turns on his head that he crumbles.

- the love interest in a horrible, familiar twist of fate is killed by another jealous love interest. pushed down the stairs, their body bent at an odd angle. fragile, and in such an uncanny familiar way to events that happened not too long ago.

- events where he had fallen onto his knees and for the first time in many, many centuries leviathan prayed. begging for the father that had forsaken them to please, please spare you. that he would close his eyes and find that you are all right. that this was all just a bad, bad dream.

- except when he opened his eyes it wasn't a dream. the scene before him hadn't changed, and that made him feel close to throwing up.

- the jealous love interest was monologuing. leviathan wasn't listing to what the interest had to say anymore, the events of the game overlapped with the events that happened in real life.

- he wasn't seeing the game anymore, he was reliving that horrible, horrible moment. the scent of blood, fingerprints around your neck making a horrible necklace that makes the bile climb up his throat. mammon is crying, begging and all leviathan can do is pray.

- pray, pray, pray, pray, pra--

- "levi?" your voice pulls him back into the present, and without thinking or asking leviathan pulls you into a hug. his chest heaving and he finally realizes that he's sobbing and on the fringes of a panic attack.

- alive. your alive, warm, breathing, and speaking to him. fingers entwining with his own and your foreheads pressed together. the unspoken command to breathe can be felt through the pact and shakes leviathan to his core and so he does.

- leviathan breathes, breathes, and breathes. he breathes until he feels that his head is no longer spinning, that his heart has finally calmed down, and he realizes just how tightly he had held onto your hand.

- leviathan knew he held onto you tight enough to bruise and leviathan breaks down all over again. leviathan would like to assume that he's more subtle than mammon with his worry, but he isn't at all.

- he couldn't do anything, fitting for what he is, but you don't push him away when he pulls you close. his demon form shimmering into existence, his tail wrapping around you to pull you closer to him while he simply continues to breathe.

- when he wakes up and finds you still here with him leviathan feels his heart swell with love.
