Modern Zelda AU where they're all in high-school, the hero and princess has pretty much become a legend in these modern times, yeah yeah, basic modern au stuff
But then! Suddenly! All hell breaks loose and these literal teenagers are thrown into a "destiny" that they believed was just a bedtime story for their whole lives, and suddenly the fate of their town, the WHOLE WORLD, all depends on them. And through this, they find out about their ancestors, and how THEY are going to be the ones that the next Era of Hyrule depends on.
They see their school, bits of their town and home absolutely destroyed and in complete ruin. Zelda is a stressed out girl who can't even get through a test without breaking down, and now she has to awaken an ancestral power to save her family? And Link, who used to be just a regular kid, has to take a legendary sword that's been locked in a museum for the past hundred years, and go fight an actual demon to protect his friends?
Would that be fucked up or what

there's a right-wing knockoff of Bluey called Chip Chilla. nothing is sacred in this world. Conservatives always complain about cartoons "not being for kids" (read: having LGBTQ+ representation), but Chip Chilla isn't for kids either - it's only for pearl-clutching moral guardians who want to feel good about the shows their children watch.
It's like how that doll line, Lammily, wasn't actually targeted towards kids or doll collectors -- it was only for parents and Buzzfeed bloggers who wanted a "wholesome" alternative to Barbie. Lammily faded into obscurity while Barbie is still going strong, so I don't think we have to worry about Chip Chilla replacing Bluey. Also, Rob Schneider is in it...gross

sorry but if you actually think Cancel Culture ™ is a thing then you're kinda a dumb fuck. Cancel culture isn't real, holding people accountable for their actions is a thing, but this whole narrative around Canceling that's evolved over the past few years isn't real. It's never been an actual thing. Its just a fear mongering tactic to further vilify the groups who were being harmed in the first place and victimize the person who did something wrong.
Your fav being called out for playing an antisemitic video game that directly gives profits to a hugely influential TERF, who's said openly she sees getting profits / royalty cheques from her franchise as endorsements for her bigotry, is not "cancel culture". It's called the consequences for your actions.
You have every right to do and play whatever the fuck you want, but that goes both ways. If you go out of your way to build up and financially support these people who're openly advocating to take away trans people's rights, then you get to deal with people not trusting you because of it. You get to deal with trans and Jewish folks not feeling safe around you, not wanting to be around you or not wanting to talk to you. Because you have shown that you care more about nostalgia and temporary personal emotional gratification over the wellbeing and safety of those communities in the real world.
People have explained why supporting HL is wrong, people have explained why it's harmful, people have explained in detail the issues with this situation. You. Just. Don't. Care. You don't listen, or read, because in the end, you can't be bothered enough to put in the effort of having 1 moment of critical thinking.
It's not that folks don't have arguments or evidence, it's that it clearly does not matter to you. It's that the value of an antisemitic game full of one horrific thing after another is worth more to you than the real, living breathing people who are going to be, and have been, affected by this.
You come across as a bad person. Not because some person on Twitter determined you must be, but because your actions speak far louder. And they're screaming red flags.
I'm not going to argue with you over your own bad decisions and life choices. You've made your bed and are mad that people are telling you to lie in it.

poor thunder, man
Time to form all the groups suddenly, btw, because the writers are incapable of finding a way for this to happen organically.
Clear Sky continues to be a controlling bastard who never self-reflects ever. He keeps suddenly insisting that everyone needs to join him because he's conveniently misinterpreted the words of Fluttering Bird in a way that would end with him getting more power.
Shattered Ice: "This is a pattern of behavior we've seen play out in four separate books, why should we believe that this isn't yet another grab at power?"
Clear Sky:
It IS a grab at power, btw. everything he does is a grab at power. He's huffing and moaning and whining that people aren't immediately kissing his feet when he makes a suggestion completely against what StarClan said.
I don't know how this book expects me to be SO charitable that I'll believe that this known liar genuinely ACCIDENTALLY came up with a specific interpretation that would make him the only leader in the forest... especially after his little "reverse leper colony" suggestion in the last book.
Where the fuck is that "Redemption Arc" again???
But now we're getting to the real meat of this book... Thunder being guilted into obedience by his shitty dad, again.
"Worse than that, he'd seen the blusterous bastard doubt himself for a fraction of a second and it scared him. He'd watched him try out a brand new manipulation tactic that he wasn't yet familiar with, but was about to be. Deep in his belly, he sensed a 'weakness'-- and failed to recognize it as desperation."
This is incredibly familiar as someone who had toxic family just like this, and still deals with the consequences of it. The way that they never change, but make YOU the villain if you don't trust them anymore. How they're both proud and ashamed all the time, emphasizing whatever side is more useful in the moment. He's ALWAYS been like this, a controlling, emotional tar pit, and the biggest difference is that he doesn't slaughter random women anymore.
And I keep looping back around to how Clear Sky's "redemption arc" is the CORE of the problem in these books.
They have not shown this character fundamentally changing, and even used that as a plot point in the last book to emphasize how he is innately good and deserves power as opposed to One Eye.
And they CAN'T, because Clear Sky is a FANTASTIC villain. They don't HAVE another driver of conflict who can match him. He's selfish, fragile, and violent and nothing can compare.
So they just end up with this extremely uncomfortable situation that smells like abuse apologia, unable to commit to having his family reject him like they would a villain, but unable to really change him as a person.
Or give him the consequences he deserves.
