Hijack Week Day 2: Pirate/Stowaway!

The idea for this AU is that Hiccup comes from a wealthy family but felt stifled/trapped, especially after his father announced his retirement and that Hiccup would be taking over the family business. Desperate to see the world at least for a little while before he takes over the business, he stows away on a ship, but quickly realizes the crew is none other than the infamous "Guardians", a group of self proclaimed "Gentleman pirates" who are robin-hood type figures, who steal from the exceedingly wealthy and give back to the less fortunate, mainly the children of the Archipelago.

The previous Captain of the Guardians, only known as "Manny", retired a year ago and handed the reins to none other than "Jack Frost", a boy they picked up years ago and started out as a cabin boy but eventually proved himself and worked up the ranks even with his penchant for disregarding authority. Though, his seafaring skills and good nature caught Manny's eye.

Jack, however, is having trouble adapting to his new role as captain, especially when he faces hostility from Aster, who thought the role should have gone to someone more qualified. Manny still plays a role, though now from his retirement home on a nice remote beach, sending them letters about where to go and who to target.

When Hiccup is discovered on the ship, Jack immediately takes a liking to this sassy stowaway and agrees to let him stay, but he has to work as a cabin boy.

🔆 ROTBTDoodles 2023 DAY17: PIRATES

This particular prompt means a lot to me, cause it’s reminiscent of a fanfic I used to write back when I was, what, thirteen? fourteen?, of the ROTBTD gang in a Pirates!AU. This was such a joy to make :’)

I wrote a little snippet along with this, for old times’ sake. Enjoy? Question mark?:

“Whether I like it or not,” said the princess, “I’m being hunted, and I’m probably the only one left able to find your treasure.”

Rapunzel didn’t see the way the captain and her two trusted mates glanced at her, and they did so with fresh eyes. What had once been their prisoner, a means to an end, was now another lost soul aboard The Guardian.

No one said anything for a moment, until the princess sighed, leaning against the banister. “I have no where else to go. Guess I’m all yours.”

She tried to smile. It came out as a sad wince.

Captain Merida shared a look with the very conflicted Jack, and then at Hiccup, who sighed with pity. What a turn of events it had been; their princess: framed, hunted. And though she was the key to their future of riches, suddenly the thought of it all, of using this poor girl, it all felt… bleak.

Merida scoffed, straightening up, having made a decision at last. “Nuff’a that. You all have work t’ do. On with it! And you!” She pointed at Rapunzel, who jumped slightly. “Lucky day for you, lass, for a prisoner ye are no more. You’ll be doin’ work like the rest of us. Hiccup! She’ll be with ya.”

Hiccup didn’t complain, pocketing his notebook before nodding at Rapunzel. “Alright, uh. You’re with me in the kitchen then.”

Jack hopped off, sparing Rapunzel a glance as he passed, like he was going to say something. He ended up turning away, off to the canons most likely, glaring at his feet as he left. Merida could only sigh when she caught it, as well as watch thoughtfully as Hiccup and Rapunzel disappeared belowdeck.

What a strange turn of events indeed. But Merida had decided; they’d done this before, taking in strays. And if Rapunzel was going to be here a while, until she thinks of what to do after finding the treasure, then at least she’ll give her a home in the seas.

It’ll have to do. It has to.

Fic idea : Lucerys survives the fall but Arrax doesn't. Aemond still thinking he killed him, guilt stricken, flies back to king's landing.

Practically faking his death and with the advice his grandsire - the sea snake - gave him, Luke ends up joining pirates under a new identity. No one is able to find or recognise him as the fall left some pretty significant scarring. Then throughout the years, gathering experience and advice, Lucerys eventually becomes one of the youngest captains of the ship.

But oh, what? The prince regent has commissioned their group to retrieve some stolen treasures?

Luke - who still remembers and recognises everyone, especially his wretched uncle, is hesitant - to say the least. But seeing the amount of money and what it could mean for their crew, he agrees.

Now he has to go about completing the mission and try his best to avoid this damned regent. He's fortunate Aemond doesn't recognise him. At least he hopes he doesn't.

Side note : this is an AU where the greens live/win as well because otherwise the timelines won't match
